- Time has finally come to remove the 30 year old stock suspension from the VR4 and install new adjustable Tein Flex Z Coilovers. The overall handling feels amazing and this upgrade is a must have for anyone looking to improve ride quality.
Also we welcome a new member to the Family

Be sure to drop a suggestion on what you think I should install next and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
If you know of anyone who enjoys the 3000gt platform be sure to share this video with them.
and as always Thank you for dropping in. Авто/Мото
Nice! I am also putting the teins on my Vr4 as well! Congrats on the puppy!
Epic!! You are probably not local but if you was I would offer a hand
@@illusiveinu can that suspension also fit on the sl?
nice👍🏿 im also in virginia building my vr4.
Yo that's awesome. What part of Va?

Oh nice. I'm from Lynchburg. I'm in your area from time to time. Maybe we will cross paths at some point.
Im doing exactly the same thing as you, putting on my new tein flex Z on my VR4. The rear strut bushing being stuck to the car is also what I'm currently dealing with and it seems to be a very common problem. I was planning on cutting it, since torching it was not enough to get it off. I will try heat gun now maybe it will soak the heat better. Thank you.
so funny how you have 3KGTVR4 as your license plate. The registry told me it was taken so i have VR43KGT LMAO!!
both of my rear bushing where completely stuck. The drivers side came off with a little fight but the passenger side took alot of heating, beating and even a busted hand when the bar slipped and i punched the ground.
Hopefully you got yours off.
Yo thats awesome.
@@illusiveinu i ended up slicing the outer ring and the rubber bushing off with a cut off tool. then i carved a slice on the inner bushing and knocked it off with an air hammer. IT WAS STUCK STUCK ! But it came off. I ended up putting anti sieze on the inner metal contact surfaces from the trauma of the event XD
Hey man, with the damper adjustment on the Tein's is there a setting where the ride feels soft like brand new stock struts & springs? Or will it only feel hard or bumpy like a race car?
I have my damper adjusted out for a stiffer ride. It's not super rough but it's definitely not soft like stock. I'm sure the softer damper settings can smooth out the ride.
I have been looking at getting these shocks. But I'm also going to get the Tein motors and ESC controller for them so I can adjust them and have them electronically controlled on the fly. How do they feel for you? What was the setting you set yours at (I believe the term is "clicks"?) to get it at that ride height? Worth the cost?
I have mine set firm as for damper setting. I also don't feel alot of body roll or flex like I did with the stock suspension. I would definitely say they are well worth the money. I have looked into getting the electric caps to adjust them on the fly. Hopefully they won't make contact with the hood.
@@illusiveinu Supposedly the "newer" caps are slim fits and they have a specific model for the 3kgt thats supposed to not make contact with the hood. It's something I was also concerned with because there is really not that much room there. From what Tein says, they are smaller than the original caps that came with the ECS for the VR-4s early models. Newer technology and all. Not sure if you have footage from a mounted cam to show ride vibration, cornering and what not before and after install. That would be cool to see as a side by side video or something. Just an idea.
Hmmm the best I have as for a before and after would probably be when I take the car out to get a juice and when I take it back out afterwards. I can always put the gopro on the side of the car watching the suspension travel.
And yeah if Tein makes a slimmer cap that would be great because if you swap hoods to something aftermarket they may not have the raised bumps to allow for clearance
@@illusiveinu its just an idea for future videos. Obviously only do what you want to do, just tossing out some ideas. As for the caps/motors fitting, that might be something to ask the forums or FB groups about.
Yeah thats a great idea. I'm always open for suggestions thanks 😊
How much lower can it go?
the rear dont have a r or a l like the fronts, does the rear matter?
I honestly can't remember if the rears had an L and R. I believe they did on the caps.
how many KMs/Miles on the stock shocks?
Around 260km i don't think the electronic suspension worked anymore.
Get some blitz alloys.
