- The VR4 is nearly ready for paint and all I need to do in install the last few body pieces needed. I also take a look into the engine upgrades coming after the car is painted. This new hood gives the widebody 3000gt a much more aggressive facelift.
Im still not 100% set on what color I should paint the car so please leave a comment on color suggestions I should go with.
I added links to all of the parts shown in this video. Be sure to go check them out. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

The best hood in my opinion. Glad he was able to reproduce them.
I love it alot
Can't wait to see the final product, love these cars.

Thanks, Im loving how everything is coming together
you guys are so cool and videos are _GREAT_!
Thank you :)
Looking forward to seeing the progress.
Same. It's come a long way from how it looked when I first got the car.
@@illusiveinu I can imagine! I need to catch up on the older videos as I subscribed today. :)

I also have a 92 VR4. I would like to attempt to change the rear spoiler with a different design but still retain the active aero function. Since you did an amazing job on your custom taillights have you ever considered modifying the active aero system to accept a different designed of rear spoiler that would work like the stock unit? I don’t know if anyone has even attempted to modify the stock aero system. If the bulge in the trunk underneath the stock spoiler could be eliminated all the better but I have no idea what’s hiding underneath it. Watching race cars you can see the rear spoiler rotate vertically to catch the air during braking and then lay flat at speed. Who knows? Your video’s provide a lot of practical knowledge. That panel you installed today was a lot of work but the result changed the design for the better. Nice work!
when i first got the car i thought about making the combat wing work as the active aero but it would probably be alot of work. I have seen someone before do it but it was a long time ago. Someone did make an active aero spoiler for a miata on tiktok. I may play around with something later on tho
I recall a owner doing weight reduction year's ago talking about the countless screws he found. 😅 I think in all they weighed 10 lbs. He replaced them with light weight plastic screws or clip pins. He said, most were just unnecessary.
I've built emergency vehicles for 15 years, and hundreds of them have been cop cars. The bumpers and fenders on a lot of modern cars are held on with less than 10 bolts. I believe the front bumper of the first gen 3000gt has like 40-50 something bolts.
One thing I did do is when I remove a stock bolt, I do replace it with a stainless or aluminum, depending on what it's holding. I havent gone titanium bolts yet due to the price.
@@illusiveinu that makes sense why this car got a 5 ⭐ safety rating 😅
@@illusiveinu when I've told people the 3000GT was built for off-road, they don't believe me. This car is built tougher than the Galant VR4 and it won 5 consecutive WRC. The 3S won Pike's Peak 3yrs straight and a Stealth won too.
@@dct124 and a pain in my butt when I try to remove parts at the junk yard 🙃
@@illusiveinu 😭😭😭😭😭
Leave it in different colored pieces! Teehee. ❤
Nuuuuu. That's what it is now tho
Louie evil eye hood are sick! Any lip kit or rear diffuser? My still getting timing done and then off to paint too!
Yeah the hood is fire. I have a Retrospec lip kit and I'm working on making a rear diffuser
Going to be one awesome looking car when done. Man that is like 10 grand in parts, i love it.
What is the end game, to have a vr4 in every color and generation 😊
hahaha i think i need to sell off some of them. I think my end goal will to have one clean stock body and one crazy one.
@illusiveinu that is a good goal. Now that I have a supercharged 99 I would like to end up with a stealth turbo with flip ups and maybe a 2nd gen.
You gave me bad flash backs with your sail panels. I fully disassembled my car and basically painted it in pieces. It is all back together but I still have extra bags of screws lol
Yeah the sail panels actually killed trying to take them out. How much trouble was it to supercharger your car?
@illusiveinu I have videos on my channel if you get bored. Depends how you do it. I went full balls to wall custom. Put a 12 rib crank pulley on to run a 6 rib charger pulley and keep 6 rib on ac. I flipped a Eaton m90 upside down then ran it through an intercooler. So on a scale of 1 to 10, a solid 10 lol
I would do it all over again just not paint it at same time
Looks so good so far. Your progress makes me miss my 3kgt... What color are you thinking?
You need to get another one :D
I'm not fully sure on a final color. So many choices.
@@illusiveinu I know like I think i would want something with a deep red, maybe candy red. Or black and just matte clear wrap it. OR like the mercedes selenite grey in matte
Just wondering were you got the bushing rebuild kit for the shifter from?
I got it from 3SX as a kit

how is the hood holding up
ugh...i want a GTOKNG hood for my 93 soooo bad....
