My first car was a 93 n/a, my second car was a built up 91 VR-4 but on stock turbos. I worked at a performance shop that specialized in the 3/S platform. They're a nightmare to work on, but I know that 6G72TT engine like the back of my hand. Best advice I can give any potential future owner, look underneath and check the oil pan. If there's an indentation, it means some previous mechanic or owner lifted the engine from there to do some kind of work. The oil pickup line is like centimeters from the bottom of the pan, which means the engine will eventually get starved of oil and you WILL spin a bearing and blow up your engine.
As a VR-4 owner, broke people should stay away from this platform. You've come a long way from when you got it, I am glad you stuck through it. 😊 One note, 99 front bumper is availabile through the dealerships for $600~ new. $1,200 is ridiculously high.
Have a 98 3000gt sl and probably about $2000. Recently got new coilovers coming in the mail which i'm really excited about. Thinking about getting strut bars and sway bars for that extra snappiness. I do want to make it a reliable daily driver, being a non-turbo.
Im picking up a vr4 this week after the 4th! Hasn’t ran in a couple years so I’m getting it for cheap! Can’t wait to revive and get it back on the road, your 3000gt videos helped me get to know the platform
@@MiguelDsm You know the plug to disconnect that annoying door buzzer is right behind the radio. That was one of the first things I did when I got mine.
It's beautiful. I know I keep saying that but I really mean it. I really want to get one now (and I keep saying that as well). You've done a great job with handling this notoriously difficult to work on car. I can't wait to see more content on your 3000GT and you other Mitsubishis!
Mines currently in the shop, and Im about 2k in with just that. If you go back since I bought it (2012), Im about 10K in not counting the cost I spent to buy it. But I will never sell it lol. I absolutely love this car. And yeah, a LOT of shops will hard pass on working on it. I was even told to "get the F--- out of my shop" when I asked one shop if they would consider working on the car. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos on these cars. There isnt a whole lot out there now days, so its cool to see a few.
I’ve always liked a widebody on other peoples cars. At the end of the day I always love a stock narrow car. Part of me wants to go wide from time to time though

Get tims’s 15g billet turbo or tims 19T😬 from experience the turbos are good and will last you a long time, and the guy that does them (Tim) does a really good job! And he is located in CA bro
Where did you find the lip kit? I can’t find it anywhere online I really like it. I got a 97 Base 5 speed. I’m trying to keep it mostly stock under the hood for reliability but already got cold air intake, exhaust, coils and wheels. Clean build man.
Your build is beautiful. I’m almost at 20k myself on top of purchase price. 99 conversation was done when I bought it and I’ve been focused on power and performance since. Thanks for the video.
@@MiguelDsm Clean, unmolested will go up, but I think there will be plenty for cheap since the maintenance is a nightmare compared to supra/300zx/skyline/etc.
Back in November of 2019 I purchased my first ever car, a 94 Dodge stealth base, I paid about 3500 for it and put probably 2x as much into it for the engine, trans, bushings, and engine mounts. If your in the market to have a stealth or 3000, make sure you have a spot to have it on jack stands throughout the duration of you owning the car. I still have the car and I plan on doing a all black interior swap on it and doing a trim swap in the future.
I'm a woman who loves her 1991 Firestorm Red Dodge Stealth 3000GT ES DOHC. I have owned since it was 1 1/2 years old. She is mostly stock. Just had the manual transmission rebuilt . I purchased a 60,000 Engine from. Japan in 2012, the original engine wouldn't pass smog ..... guess what neither did the ever engine. The real problem was I only need one catalytic (of 3) converter replaced. Live and learn. So I have alot of experience with this car it has 207,000 original miles it is a San Diego Car.
Well worth every penny my man, where did you get those window trims at? Many downsides to our cars but well worth it. We will probably always have something we need to do or spend money on. Just have to embrace it 😅
