Yeah! The pop up headlights will probably not be seen on cars again. They fit with Mitsubishi’s idea of active aero. Hide them (reduce drag) when you don’t need them!

That car isn't the underdog of the 90's, that thing held it's own and then some of its time.
It's definitely an underdog man. People still don't know what they are to this day, and yet they held their own with the other 90's legends. The 3000GT VR4 is literally the true definition of an underdog 😂
@@nickadkins7765facts! 3000gts were ahead of its time! Definitely an underdog and to this day still remains underrated. Overshadowed by the eclipse but thank God they respected it enough to not make it into a crossover. I hope. 🤞 Love my eclipses too tho.

I think the early models of the 3000GT VR4 will be the ones to collect. All the ideas the engineers at Mitsubishi came up with to make their super car are on the early models. One by one, year after year they dropped all the things that were originally designed to make the car unique. I have a 92 VR4 with everything still working except for the two tone exhaust. The hard choice is whether to leave it totally stock or add a little personality to it. I guess if your going to modify the car just be sure to retain any stock parts if you want to possibly return to stock. When you look at the price of even the early models of the Acura NSX they still want top dollar to own one. VR4s are a great deal for the money but that can’t last forever.
Hey I have a 92 vr4 too, and I intend to keep it stock / restore it. The engine needed rebuilding, and I'm iterating on that. Insane how expensive the 6g72tt is now.

I'm in a similar situation. I got mine last year when I was 15. tons of problems with it it sat in a field for 10 years. Have been restoring and modifying it and it's one of the best cars I've ever been in. It's rarely ever up and going but that's because I'm always doing things to in. Recently bought a second 3000gt sl in the extremely rare superior amythest pearl. Great car but doesn't compare to the vr4
Everyone raves about the Lancer Evo and the Eclipse but the 3000gt doesn't get enough live. That thing is truly timeless in terms of design

As much as I thought these scenarios would never come true for me now I am a proud owner of at 1991 Dodge Stealth ES for $200 that I bought from my best friends father
When I fix my 1995 3000gt, i went crazy on it and also had to fix every detail including my engine too
One nice car, so glad he kept the flip up headlights. Only thing mitsubishi could of done better was put t tops or a targa top on them.

You are not going to simply "drop" an LS into that car because the engine is transverse mount. There are a few guys who have done LS swaps but none of them turned out that well and they were a TON of work. If you are after BIG power in a 3KGT then 4G swap is the best option.

ive got a jdm rhd gto vr4 in great condition. just didnt come with the front areo dam. :( the transmission was messed up. took me years to find a good transmission. my family was so adamant that i sell the car and get something reliable and good on gas like a civic or kia. they though i was dumb for not selling it. XD

I owed 4 3000GT and only 1 was a 92 vr4 and sold it for $4k back in 2009😔 dumbest thing ever. I just bought a stealth RT Turbo last night and plan on keeping this. Your VR4 is beautiful! What can I get the rims and tires?

My first car was a 93 n/a, and within a year my senior year of high school I was working at a performance shop and the owner sold me his rebuilt engine 91 vr-4 for $6k. Engine never gave me many issues, everything else did just because of age. I still miss that car though. It turned so many heads, even back then.
They're so damn rare now, I haven't seen one in years. Good luck finding a nice vr-4 for 6k these days, and that was back in 2007 haha.
edit : Bro, pull out the rubber o-ring inside the boost solenoid. It's the only difference in power between the 1st and 2nd gen VR-4's, and will just give you an extra 2psi and bump you up to 320hp. Still stock.

Nice car and your engine bay is sick .you should put the gen 2 side skirts on .i have a red with 1993 Japanese imported GTO TWIN TURBO in U.K.. they are very reliable cars ,you can take is upto 650 bhp on stock internals safely at 960 bhp the crankshaft will crack.

I had a 91 VR4 with full black on black interior, custom painted pearlescent Blue thinking about finding another 1, I converted the headlights to the 99 glass and had a R34 front bumper custom fitted 😅

So, I'm old enough to have been an adult when these were new. Friend of mine had the baby US version, the Eagle Talon, and that was an awesome little pocket rocket.

love the energy but as a 91 vr4 owner who was able to get all the features working on the car.... including active suspension.... you dont know how much comfort your missing out on.

There is no universe where a stock MK III Supra is going to be worth more than a stock VR-4. MK IV Supras are a different story of course.
