A couple corrections:
- Sun & Moon: Turns out you can assemble a 10% Zygarde on Route 16 before getting to Poni Island. My bad! I've only played the Ultra versions since those came out, and I mistakenly thought Zygarde was postgame in all the Alola games.
- Sword & Shield (DLC): I've learned you can get the Suicune from Dynamax Adventures immediately upon arrival at the Crown Tundra. I did not realize the catch level limit did not apply to Raid bosses! This makes it effectively a tie with Kubfu, as both are obtainable before the first badge (which requires more work is a bit more subjective, but they can happen at the same point in the story).
Apologies for my oversights here. Pokemon is complicated, and while my knowledge/memory is good, it isn't perfect!

A small mistake in the video. Brawly is skippable, but only until Norman. Normans gym will not open up unless you have all 4 other badges.
Winona is skipable although you wouldn't want to for her HM.

Brawly isn't skippable in ORAS because the path to Steven's room in Granite Cave is blocked until you beat Brawly
I could've sworn I skipped Brawly all the way until the E4 until the dude at the building told me I was 1 badge short during my original Ruby playthrough
Fun fact about the Jirachi for Ruby/Sapphire: ITS A TROJAN HORSE! The bonus disc, while giving you a Jirachi, it also patches the infinite berry glitch that is very useful in Gen 3
So THATS why they gave a jirachi. Strange that they locked that to the preorder with nothing to replace it in the normal version

Fun fact about Pokémon Dream Radar; After you catch Landorus, you can find any of the Gen 4 box art Legendary Pokémon if you have their respective game in the cartridge slot. Meaning you can have a Level 5 Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Ho-Oh and Lugia in Black 2 or White 2 before even having a single badge. That is insane.
Fighting Roxie with Giratina in my team was one of the funniest experiences
I wish I had those cartridges then. Team Sky but I use an origin Giratina at the first gym
I did this, and played through the game with a Level 5 Ho-Oh. It was fun to stomp Team Plasma with it.

Same 🤭It's both reassuring & terrifying to learn it was worst than I thought. I assumed players would have unlimited access to Mews after purchasing the Poke ball controller on every save file, but no! It was only one per controller in all?! Terrible greed.
It was decent if you also played pokemon go then you didnt need the go plus but has been surpased by go plus + now :P
I bought a used Poke Ball Plus, and still got the Mew.
Either something happened with that particular ball, or the previous owner just didn't get the Mew, for some reason.
@@Lycan4 It's possible the previous owner did not own Let's Go or SwSh and only got the Poke Ball to use for Pokemon Go. It would be an odd choice, since you can't redeem the Mew in Go, but it's possible.
I got the PBP as it came with the game. I only used it for the Mew and it stares at me every day gathering dust under a teddy bear from graduation

the biggest middle finger imo is how they just hand out mews nowadays. the pokeball plus didn't _need_ to distribute a mew, but they added it anyway to increase the price and further devalue mew's speciality.
when ruby and sapphire came out mew wasn't even officially released as a pokemon yet to north america audiences according to an old guidebook i had. i genuinely miss when mew was actually special.

In Ruby and Sapphire, in Emerald Registeel's puzzle requires flash instead.

in the EU you can also get jirachi via Pokemon Channel instead. Im too lazy to check if you ned hall of fame progression for that instead.
Indeed, though unlike the USA bonus disc, in order to get celebi, you need to purify all 48 shadow pokemon in colosseum AND in your gba game you must have entered the hall of fame (unless of course you trade the celebi you get initially for the colosseum game itself). There is also a limit to how many celebi you can distribute per colosseum save file [48 (one for each purified pokemon)+1 you receive in colosseum=49]. The good thing with celebi is that it can be transferred to any of the 5 gen3 gba games, as long as the copy's language is Japanese. In contrary, both jirachi from the USA bonus disc and jirachi from channel can go ONLY to either ruby or sapphire.

Same goes for BDSP Roark (maybe). If you have a sword or shield copy, you can get a jirachi in floroma town. Same goes for mew if you have let’s go pikachu or eevee. So it’s either if you have 0 or 1 badge.

Completely untrue. It was not required for the completed Pokedex reward in those games. Just like Gen 1.

To this day, I still find it insane how you can go to the Crown Tundra and casually catch a Legendary Pokemon before you even have a single Gym Badge.
At least you can't use it fully cause of the obedience thing, but it's going to be a very tanky Pokémon.
Actually tried it in one of my SwSh playthrough when looking for Pokémon so I can spam pokeballs and items without worrying that Suicune will be dead quickly
@@blastmole299 Suicune won't actually disobey you because you are its OT. The OT check for obedience still exists in SwSh. I know this because I caught a Rotom there and did a mono Electric run w/o any obedience problems.

I like to imagine that there was at least one person who was daring enough to battle the Legendary Birds as soon as they got three badges with underleveled Pokemon and actually manage to catch it.

I am stubborn in refusing to go where a game tells me to, so I did catch Zapdos and Articuno super early in a normal playthrough. And then I NEVER USED THEM, for some stupid reason.
I've done this before for a professor oak challenge run. Luckily you can get to fuschia or saffron city by then and get ultra balls there, it makes it a lot easier

I’d argue the dynamax adventure legendaries are earlier than kubfu since you gain access to the crown tundra and isle of armor at the same time. All you have to do is lose to peony and then do the adventure, compared to doing the quests in the isle of armor. I think this also puts swsh above usum for the number of legendaries before the league and at one point.

Fun fact! It's still likely slower than doing the DA for Suicune, but Johnstone found out if you put Kubfu in Pokemon HOME, the game skips the quests and lets you battle Mustard in one of the towers with your normal team. Returning Kubfu to your team later will still allow you to climb the tower to evolve it!

14:44 probably wasn't mentioned cause of how random the raids are, but surprised that the Suicune you'll always fight first in the raids down in the crown tundra was not mentioned. You can go there before you even step foot into Motostoke and come back with a level 60 legendary, or more if you want.

I agree with this for sure. You don't even need to beat Peony to get in. You can just take the train to the Crown Tundra, lose the battle, make a beeline to Dynamax Adventures, and win the first one to get the Suicune. All with 0 Pokémon training beyond what it takes to get to Motostoke.
It's probably even quicker to get extra legendaries from Dynamax Adventures after the Suicune than it is to pivot to the Isle of Armor to get Kubfu.
Pretty sure the catching level limit SwSh has restricts you from catching the Dynamax Adventure Legendaries before you get enough badges

I genuinely never knew this. I always thought the Norman battle unlocked once you got the "fourth" badge (Flannery's) and only checked for whether that badge was there.

@@Mayathedoomer2006RFAU Nah, I confirm you need to beat Brawly to defeat Norman. Winona is the one that's completely skipable until you want to beat the E4.
Notably skipping Winona means the earlist possible Regis are all 3 for emerald but only Regirock and Regice for Ruby ans Sapphire since Registeel's puzzle requires fly. It might only require that you "use" the move outside of battle and that would somehow not require Winona's badge but otherwise you need to get her unecessary badge to get Registeel. If skipping Brawly is possible though then Registeel is not obtainable the earliest in either version since in Emerald it needs flash which is what Brawly gives.

5:30 just for clarification, you can use Dive with only 6 badges but it's Winona who you skip, not Brawly. You can skip Brawly when you first reach his gym but you have to battle him before Norman so he's just a temporal skip. Winona can be skipped until you reach the league and are denied entry because you don't have the 8 badges.
Only in Gen 3 though. In ORAS Winona isn't skippable
Technically, in Emerald, the gatekeeper at the Pokémon League gate only checks for Winona's badge and one other leader (I forgot which one) because the game's designed to use six out of the eight HMs to get to that point.
Saying that catching the roaming legendries is "Kinda annoying" is one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard.
It was hell. Thank Arceus the games have evolved past that.
I remember having such a hard time catching mespirit in Pkmn Platinum back in the day! You had to catch a high enough level golbat to know mean look and hypnosis is clutch for higher percent catch rate at low health (how I catch all legendary / high level Pokémon), and maybe about 50 ultra balls and on top of that you have to guess where on the map its gonna randomly move to next… I ended up having a friend help me out Bcuz I was so mad bout that. 😂
.And let's not even mention the gen 3 Johto roamers...
Everyone bitches about it, but it's some of the best catching in the game
@gnawnickvods939 Eh, I'll have to agree to disagree. I think the concept of roamers is really cool since you could run into a legendary without even knowing, but in practice they were often patience-trying and way more annoying to catch than they needed to be. Gen 3's Johto roamers are up there but XY's Kanto birds was another awful roamer situation imo. Glad to hear that you enjoyed them though

For Let's Go, technically if you wanna count it, the earliest Legendary/Mythical you could get is Meltan & Melmetal if you have Pokémon Go, which is so easy since just about everyone has it
Still incorrect, the time it takes to catch and then transfer a Meltan would be longer then going to get Zapdos

Also Mikey: Completely forgets that Mew is the earliest you can get in Red/Blue/Yellow through a minor glitch that was programmed into the game.
You can also glitch to get the GS Ball to get Celebi in Crystal as early as 2 badges, as you still need Cut to get to the shrine.
If I remember correctly Mew would still be tied with Zapdos, because instead of Surf you need Fly.
Can Mew glitch be done with Teleport?
It in fact can. Catching an Abra is the earliest way to perform the glitch, it only requires defeating Brock.
@@joonas394 Yes, in Cerulean City. With Red/Blue, it's a little easier, I don't know the method for Yellow.
You need to go past Nugget Bridge, catch an Abra in the grass next to the bridge (without the trainer there seeing you), then beat the trainer with a Slowpoke. The Slowpoke is very important because it has the perfect numbers for the glitch to generate Mew, make sure to beat it but then NO OTHER POKEMON, or the glitch will generate a completely different Pokemon.
Then go the same patch of grass right before the trainer spots you (save just in case), then press down and Start as fast as you can, if it works you'll see the ! above the trainer's head, but the Start menu will come up at the same time. Use Abra's Teleport to go back to the Cerulean City PokeCenter.
If you did it right, the moment you start heading towards the route with Nugget Bridge again, the Start menu will open up by itself. Close it to start a battle, and there's your Mew to catch.

I actually went out of my way to get Dream Radar so I could use Tornadus in Black 2 on launch day. It was so much easier with a legendary on my team immediately.
There is technically 2 legendary Pokémon in diamond and pearl that you can get earlier, being arceus and darkrai using a memory corruption glitch to go out of bounds and all you need is the bike and the step counter
Weird but cool story because of the legendary beasts: my dad actually did that. One of my brothers was playing Gen 2 and handed the game to my dad(who knew Jack on how to play outside of small rules like catching) to do something, and he goes “I caught you a Pokémon, I just threw a ball at it.” When asked what he went “some saber tooth cat thing. I think it’s electric type because it’s yellow.” My brother then realized this madlad ran into Raikou by accident and, with it at full health first turn, threw a regular pokeball and caught it. None of us have ever done something that cool in Pokémon since and the future gyms didn’t know what hit them
Brawly isn't actually skippable! He is initially, yes, but you do have to beat him before Norman will battle you, he only battles you once you have four badges.

I would like to add that the crown tundra isn’t locked to the post game in SwSh, so any legendary you can get in the dynamax adventures would technically be the earliest, however I love kubfu so I’m not mad that it gets the spotlight :>
Suicune would beat all others because it is the default first one that you get. Since you need to do one Suicune raid, Suicune would be the earliest.
Fun fact, I got my version of Yellow the day they had the Mew event in town. So I played through Yellow with Pikachu and Mew as my duo of starters.

11:00 You cannot get all 23 available legends in the wormholes before Ultra Necrozma. I played through the ultra games recently and remember reading this on the Bulbapedia page for Ultra Warp Ride:
"Before the player arrives at Ultra Megalopolis for the first time, all white warp holes will lead there rather than to Ultra Beast homeworlds. If the player lands in a warp hole of a different color at this point, they have the chance to catch a level 60 wild Pokémon there, but on their next trip through Ultra Warp Ride, the white warp holes will be more frequent. After landing in other warp holes four times, the fifth trip features only white warp holes, guaranteeing that the player will end up in Ultra Megalopolis."

You can leave Ultra Megalopolis. I couldn't beat Ultra Necrozma, so I left, caught a Zoroark, and came back to beat it with mind games.

I think you should catch every legendary in a Pokeball. That doesn’t sound like torture at all.
I use Poke Balls, Premier Balls or Luxury Balls depending on the pokemon and it's appearance, and I reset for nature.

I used the Poke Ball Plus for my entire playthrough of Let's Go Pikachu, and postgame shiny hunting, and had no problem with it. I figured out the throwing mechanic right away. You weren't supposed to make an actual throwing motion, you just had to flick your wrist. I hit Excellent Throws on everything.
Yes, the price was too high, and you only got one Mew, but it later became compatible with Pokemon Go, where it works as an autocatcher and an autospinner. I use it every day on my commute to and from work, and it has been a lifesaver. Without it I wouldn't be Level 49, almost 50. I'm so glad I own one.
You need to beat Brawly in order to challenge Norman to be able to use Surf. Winona only enables Fly and can be skipped before E4.
In Generation 3 only, Winona can be skippable. Battling her is mandatory in ORAS.

Pokemon should have an overall umbrella for legendaries, mythicals, ultra beasts, and paradox pokemon. They all can't breed to get themselves (manaphy gets phione, not manaphy), and they all are indeed strong (except phione lol).
Exactly this. I personally consider them all different types of legendaries and so I never use them.
There already is a term for them. Battle facility don't usually allow "special Pokémon".
PS. I agree with the official statement that Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are separate categories.

Honestly, I think just "Legendary Pokemon" could fit as a general umbrella term, but it doesn't really fit well with The Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokemon. The only other term I could think of would be "Super Pokemon", which is lame.

Fun fact: you can get All of gen 4 box art Pokémon from mystery box( or whatever it’s called) and they all be granted shiny, you just have to mess something with the 3ds or 2ds setting too manipulate the game in to think of a time in date because it’s was a internet base event. (Ps. I believe you can also get mythical Pokémon too but it’s been a while since I did it)
If you have the crown tundra DLC you can get a full team of legendaries through dynamax adventure before the first gym leader I'm honestly surprised he didn't bring that up
You forgot to give Manaphy an honorable mention in Gen 4. Since, like the Wishmkr Jirachi in Gen 3, it requires external equipment, but is still fully doable to this day, via it's egg from Pokemon Ranger.

The crown tundra for swsh is much faster than the isle of armour (and easier) as you can just fail the entry battle and get almost every legendary without any pokemon in your party from max lair.
You forgot one thing about the Poke Ball Plus, it's compatible with Pokemon Go. It works as an autocatcher and an autospinner. I use it every day on my commute to and from work, and it has been a lifesaver. Without it I wouldn't be Level 49, almost 50.
Besides that, I used it for my entire playthrough of Let's Go Pikachu, and postgame shiny hunting, and had no problem with it. I figured out the throwing mechanic right away. You weren't supposed to make an actual throwing motion, you just had to flick your wrist. I hit Excellent Throws on everything. I'm so glad I own one.

For pokemon Sun and Moon, there is a QR code that can give you a magearna very early in the game, which does not expire. You can also get a Zygarde as soon as you have access to the building (which to my memory is on the 3rd island).

Btw if you have Diamond/Pearl/Platnium or Heartgold/Soulsilver save data then you can also catch level 5 Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Ho-Oh, and Luigi. And transfer them all before the first badge.

@@isabellabassham2591No you do not. You can go there as soon as you unlock the wild area and the train station. You can also still catch any Pokémon in the Max Lair regardless of the amount of gym badges you have, and because you caught them, they will obey you no matter the level. You do need to have at least 6 badges to unlock the rest of the CT story though, as the quests require you to bike on water, something you cannot do until you have the bike upgrade that you get on your way to Spikemuth
@@isabellabassham2591 You only need all eight to catch Calyrex and it's steed. You can go until Calyrex is reunited with Glastrier or Spectrier. You can also do the Galarian Birds once you get the bike upgrade. I don't recall how much of the Regis you can do because of their locations. I've done all of it while testing the limits of the DLC. Plus, the RUclipsr Johnstone did a Subathon where he got a living dex from Kanto to Galar DLC. He also did the Dynamax Adventures to get some legendary Pokemon to quickly playthrough the game and get the Pokemon he needed for the challenge in the post game.

@@isabellabassham2591 You can go to the Crown Tundra at the same point as the Isle of Armor. A RUclipsr named Johnstone did a Subathon Living Dex Stream where he used a Suicune, Raikou, and Entei to quickly beat Sword and Shield to get the Pokemon he needed like the Galar Legendaries.
If Mythical Pokemon count, you can technically get Mew via the Mew Glitch in Red, Blue, and Yellow with only one badge. One of the methods of doing the Mew Glitch involves using Abra to Teleport back to Cerulean City, and this can be done before fighting Misty.
If we include events that make you catch the Pokemon yourself instead of just giving it to you, then in BW, you can get a Victini as early as 2 badges. You just need the Liberty Pass event item and you can travel to Liberty Garden from Castelia City. Unfortunately, unless you have some way of "triggering the event", this isn't valid for the list.
This would also include the legendary beasts and Celebi in BW, as you can do this at the same time, but it requires another game. In Castelia City, there's an npc that'll let you transfer over certain event mons from Gen4. One of these is to transfer the legendary beasts, but only the shiny event versions, while the other is Celebi, from the same distribution timeframe. All four of these are tied to the Zoroark movie and are involved in a side-quest to obtain Zorua and Zoroark. Unfortunately, again, they were events in Gen4 (no badges required), so you'd both need a way of "triggering the events" and a second DS to transfer from.
As a random fun fact about the Relocator: There is an event item in HGSS called the Lock Capsule that can also be transferred over, and inside of it is TM95 (Snarl). There's a problem, though. The Lock Capsule was never distributed. As such there is no legit way to obtain TM95 in BW. Meaning the programed an in-game event around an event item they never gave out!

15:10 I want to also highlight Suicune is available before doing anything in SWSH either, in fact you have to progress less to get a level 70 suicune. You can lose the fight against the Adven-tour guy and still progress that storyline. Then you get to the dynamax adventures where you gain access to level 65 pokemon and suicune is the guaranteed legendary encounter for the first run who is also a guaranteed catch like all dynamax raids if you can beat it.... So yeah before beating the first gym, *before even leaving motostoke and starting that rival battle* , you can get a level 70 suicune...
I say you have to progress even less because to get urshifu you need to at least complete like 90% of the isle of armour, you get suicune after like 5-10% of the crown tundra
Unlike tera raids, not all dynamax raids are guaranteed to catch. However, all dynamax *adventures* are guaranteed to catch.

Fun fact : In Pokemon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon , You can hunt Shiny Legendaries in Wormhole that if only you have patience to save and restart your game over and over again ( I know cause it took me 2 or 3 days just to get 1 Shiny Legendary....if lucky , I can get 2 legendaries with Shiny Charm) but there a catch , if you already catch a legendary Pokemon , it will never appear again so basically you have lost your shiny.....for example , if you already catch Moltres , you can't hunt Shiny Moltres anymore since it will never appear anymore ( I know cause I have make a mistake by catching Mewtwo because I was to excited when it appeared but later on my friend said if I already catch it , I can't get its shiny).
If we're counting peripheral console games as a legitimate method of obtaining Jirachi in Gen III, then you can encounter Zapdos with only two badges in Gen I. If you transfer a Fresh Water to yourself using Stadium 2, you only need to beat Brock and Koga.
You don't need to beat Misty to leave Cerulean City, you just need to get the SS Ticket from Sea Cottage. So if you have a Fresh Water in your bag, you can go straight to Saffron City without ever getting Cut or going through Rock Tunnel. And once you're in Saffron, you have access to Celadon City and Lavender Town in the normal way, meaning you can get the Pokeflute and procced to Fuchsia City without ever obtaining another badge.
Once you've got the Surf HM and beaten Koga, you can go through Rock Tunnel in the reverse direction than intended to get the the Power Plant without needing to beat Misty or get Cut.
Do tell how you're gonna beat Koga with only two badges? He has double your levels. You're not beating a lvl 38, or 42( already forgot) team, with a lvl 20-25 starter.
@@sirnunyabuiz6529 You can catch wild mons that are more than capable of beating Koga before you get to him. There is a mandatory Snorlax encounter on the way and Amnesia + Psychic will ruin Koga. You can also catch a level 31 Dugtrio from Diglett's Cave; Dig is a 100 base power move in Gen I so you can win with that.

The Crown Tundra is actually faster than the Isle of Armor. You can just lose to Peony and it still progresses. Then you can get all the previous legendaries

For Sw/Sh, I personally think the Suicune you obligatory obtain in the Dynamax Adventures might be a biiit quicker to reach than Kubfu. But it might not be that much of a time difference

Using Mean Look on Raikou and Entei doesn't work because they'll just use Roar to end the battle.
This makes me glad I have the Colosseum Bonus Disc and the Dream Radar already.
Also, although this falls into the technically-not category because it is tied to an event, in Black/White, the earliest "Legendary" you can get is Victini, as you only need 2 Gym Badges and can go to Liberty Garden with the Liberty Pass item (which you can technically still get via downloading Gen 4 and 5 event stuff). But since that is event-specific, Cobalion still counts as the first Legendary found in those games.

One rule was limited time events not counting.
There's a few important correction that needs to be made
You can obtain the dynamax adventure legendaries earlier than kubfu, as you don't have to beat Peony to access the crown tundra
and it is possible to capture Wo-Chien and Chien-Pao without any badges
A brief word regarding the regi's: because the puzzle calls for the usage of fly, regirock and regice can be found earlier than registeel because winona can also be skipped.
If you include glitches,you can on pearl and diamond get shaymin or darkrai right before the first badge using the void glitch

1. Get up to the beginning of the treasure hunt
2. Accept the Kitakami Trip offer
3. Progress until you are paired up with Kieran
4. Accept the Blueberry Academy Exchange Student offer
5. Progress until you get access to the Terrarium
6. Make Your way to the location your friend on the playground told you about
(Since your ride pokemon doesn't have any upgrades yet, go through the Torchlit Labyrinth cave [between Savanna & Coastal Biome boarders] and out the top of the waterfall, then jump down towards the grassy area)
7. Perform the steps to get Meloetta to spawn in
8. Save
9. Keep throwing pokeballs until you catch Meloetta
It is level 70 so it won't listen to you until you get the right amount of badges, but it is possible almost right at the beginning of the game
Note: there's also the Pokemon Ranger Manaphy Egg for the Gen 4 games, in fact I believe that was the _only_ way to get it. It's still technically available, although it's one-per-cartridge, but compared to the Pokeball Plus you at least get a game out of it.

Yep! Zapdos has always been my first legend in gen 1. It just fits so nicely with team synergy and it has an early power advantage being a legendary
