I actually love the lists Matt is playing. He is not afraid of trying out things you would never do. Playing Hammerhal with maximized Units is not the best you can do, because you need more banners to benefit. Also shooting is missing. But I mentioned it before, seeing what does not work, is also worth watching. So great Batrep as always 👍😍
Hey Steve huge fan of yours love everyone of your battle reports but you seen to forget bloodgreed a lot for the bullgors, doombull and Gorgon. It's very strong and will make your beasts of chaos a lot more scarey
Not sure how you played those Beastmen. But in our own games they always did well: - cheap units (hordes of 50 gor) - chariots as core units - lots of magic items - lots of power dice and spell boosts - reroll to hit every round of combat
You forgot that Minotaurs deal 1 extra Mortal Wound for each unmodified roll of 6, man. If you'd remembered it would have been JUST enough to wipe out those Greatswords when combined with Battleshock.
My philosophy with hammerhal is to have at least 6 units with banners so you can get an extra cp on average. Freeguild really need the support on ranged units. I don't think it's worthwhile having 3 massive units of freeguild guard.
Free guild guard are just soooo ass. I know they’re cheap but I still feel like there are better options. Bleakswords/ dreadspears are better unless you’re throwing freeguard buffs (which you won’t because you’ll be focusing those on the great swords). You have more mobile options which cost less points to grab objectives. Iron breakers cost a bit more but they do more damage and have 3 up saves. Honestly there are better ways to hold ground, better ways to grab objs, and more cost effective cheap units to fight in melee combat. Any COSs player disagree with me?
Definately, every Dwarven units are point by point better than Freeguild. More resilient, more firepower, though not killier in melee (except Hammerers). What makes Freeguild good is their General`s ability to make them 2+ 2+, especially on their Handgunners. I would love to see the same Report with Matthew going all out Handgunners instead of everything else. Other good units are Demigryphs and the magical chariots. Matthew would have been better off as well with some small 10 man roadblocks or 1-2 units of Shadow Warriors, so that Steve would not have been able to push forward. There are some other hidden gems as well. Drakespawn Knights are very cheap and fast 3+ save units, Executioners are able to make a turn 1 charge in Greywater Fastness and are only 300 points and the Pistolier Bataillon is quite fun as well. What Matthew could have also brought would be a Beast Mage to make his infantry faster or Chronomatic Cogs. However, this scenario favored Steve`s army, because the map was so narrow. Matthew`s army was unable to cover the board space they needed and Steve`s army is better in a 1 on 1, not to forget his luck with the Knowing Eye. However, Steve`s army could have been better with a Cygor for dispels. Nevertheless, I loved Matthew`s army and with some fine tuning it certainly can be made work.
I would wager a guess that the guard work best with more big heroes/behemoths. Not that I'm a CoS player but I see zero reason to run them in these numbers otherwise haha.
I mean, my CoS army is purely Darklings and Scourge Privateers, so I can't comment on the comparison. The Dreadspears and Darksharda have incredible versatility, and Corsairs are fantastic skirmisher units that can rob objectives or at the very least contest them whilst hailing bolts/going on the blend.
Found this disappointing to be honest. Cities would lose this 9 times out of 10. The list was90% blocks of slow chaff and the general was deployed so badly he couldn’t get into combat. Might as well have fed those guard into a shredder.
yeah was a terrible list. changing a block to handgunners wont help either. its just 1 unit thats probably gonna get held up in combat. and also i dont think a different battleplan would make any difference like he says. he double turned him and still couldnt get ahead in points, so some shooting isnt gonna magically make this list good

Beasts of Chaos and Cities of Sigmar, my two favorite AoS armies in one video! The gods bless me this day!
The rock formations are called Hoodoo formations or Tent Rocks.
Who do?
@@DaithiHarvey Scooby Doo
@@DaithiHarvey you do
@Samoth Niffrig Yeah, the power of Voodoo.

And a great conclusion at the end
Hey Steve huge fan of yours love everyone of your battle reports but you seen to forget bloodgreed a lot for the bullgors, doombull and Gorgon. It's very strong and will make your beasts of chaos a lot more scarey
4 more greatswords got lucky when Steve forgot the first set of mortals from those bullgors! Lol nice save rolls from Matt though omg. Brutal
I get excited anytime I see Steve plays his beasts and orks
Dont forget steve gavespawn your heroes explode into spawns on a 2 plus. Honestly loved seeing the beast kill them humans!
Beastmen! Gather the ghors! Kill man!
My favorite chaos faction in fantasy and I'm sure the age of sigmar Beastmen are cool too.
Good job with the goats Steve ! Brass Despoilers are so cool
I love the Beast's of Chaos. After years of sucking in fantasy AOS has made me want to start an army.

That Doombull vs. Greatsword fight was great.
Faith, steel and gunpowder. Where is the gunpowder Matthew?? ^^
City’s of Sigmar allow you to have a adjutant let’s you roll +4 command point start of turn. If general is 6 wounds or less.
Love the vids! Thx! One question: I never see any irondrakes in your COS armies. Why is that?
My philosophy with hammerhal is to have at least 6 units with banners so you can get an extra cp on average. Freeguild really need the support on ranged units. I don't think it's worthwhile having 3 massive units of freeguild guard.
The rocks are called Buttes or Mesas, since you asked.
I think technically those particular types of formations are called hoodoos
@@benbashore1429 That seems more accurate, thanks for the correction
All of those sound about right
CITIES OF SIGMAR! WOO
u cant pile in away from models. if u opt to pile in, u have to end up closer than u were before the pile in move
Heroes that are slain burst into Chaos Spawn on a 2+ with your choice of the Gavespawn.
bloodgreed is all weapons not just horns
Do you still get discounts for large units of Freeguild guarda?
those kind of hillswould be butte if small and if they are a lot bigger a mesa
I believe the Halberds that ran were within your territory, so they are immune to battleshock?
Nah the battlefield they show at the start had the entire middle section as no mans land.
Oh my god, man, Bloodgreed, the "6s are Mortal Wounds" applies to ALL weapons, not just the Axe!
So many games seem to end with "I concede" on this channel is it a time thing?
Pretty much yeah. There's no point in playing when someone has a double digit point lead and huge board advantage

Yeah! The goats!
So they merged empire and bretonnia into cities of sigmar?
More like parts of empire, dwarfs, wood elves, high elves, and dark elves.
Bretonnia evolved (devolved?) into Flesh Eater Courts.
You forgot the Swallow Whole ability of the Ghorgon.
The rocks remind me of the rocks in the goblin valley
Ulric eat me whole where's COUNT BORIS TODBRINGER when you need him!.
A shame Cities of Sigmar doesn't have any bull-fighter looking models ha ha.
That would be awesome
After seeing Matthew's Trogdor shirt, now I want a TrogGOR shirt for playing BoC. Haha.
Its nice seeing the worst army dumpstering one of the best armies
Have no idea what the guy with the Beasts army is saying, why can`t he speak properly?
Found this disappointing to be honest. Cities would lose this 9 times out of 10. The list was90% blocks of slow chaff and the general was deployed so badly he couldn’t get into combat. Might as well have fed those guard into a shredder.

I'm leaving this comment strictly because of the trogdor the burninator shirt.
