Matthew i just want to say, your Tomb Kings and the fantasy Beat Matt BatRaps are the premier reason I got into this hobby and I am so incredibly thankful for that.
Shining company would've been broken after the second mangler squig attacked. Also, while in Shining company, you can only pile in 1". The reason LRL is a shitty army is because to play against them, you need to know everything about their army and almost all of their rules are feel bads. Also Archer's melee weapons don't do mortal wounds and the stone guy only buffs units with the Alartih Keyword...
I can't see any reason why you wouldn't run Jaws of Mork playing squigs. Someone send Matt a copy of the white dwarf (and Steve the issue for Glogg's Megamob)
@@nl3869 Oh I've seen Jaws used in tournaments. It even won first place in a tournament in the Czech Republic not too long ago if I'm not mistaken. Of course even if it wasn't I don't know how much that would matter to Matt who has always been more narrative driven anyway.
@@piewarriorny Interesting, yes i could really see a good army faring well at local tournaments! But if Matt is narrative, then surely the jaws of MorK is the most flavourful way to play Squigs, they even have a great story in the Battletome, which is the reason why i chose to play them over troggoths even though i prefer the trog goth models, the stampede just had an awesome lore reason to swarm my friends with angry mushrooms :D
One on one, teclis beats nagash I’d say. He can attempt to unbind all 8 of nagash’s spells, and can just auto unbind one. Meaning whatever your most important spell is teclis just gets rid of it. However, I think in most cases nagash is better, as most other armies don’t have an answer for 8 spells at +3 to cast
You are really asking for a AoS 3.0 hero to fight a 2.0 hero there. It might be the only time that Nagash's construct is at a disadvantage. I don't like the automatic abilities in a game of random dice. Imagine if Nagash's construct was able to auto cast...
No chance for Teclis at all. Nagash has been the most OP thing there is in this game in my opinion and with 3rd edition it got even worse. Even though Teclis has one auto unbind he only unbinds the rest of the 8 spells with a +1 while Nagash gets +3 on his casting. Which means the Lumineth player has to roll at least 3 more which rarely happens. At the same time Teclis is restricted to 2 spells if he wanna make sure they go off against Nagash. And even then Nagash' chance is still there. Not to talk about the rest of the profile and the abilities which are ok to good for Teclis and good to insane for Nagash.
I was pretty confident that the moon at the corner affects that part of the table, even before moving (the same way as the centre affects all the table). That's some free mortal wounds to that cavalry.
Steve, the Magical Boost aetherquartz ability can be chosen after the spell is cast, to either add 1 to the roll or re-roll. You only have to choose to use the aetherquartz at the begining of the hero phase if you want to cast an additional spell.
Matt should've ABSOLUTELY: 1.) used Jaws of Mork rules; there's no real penalty and heck you can even use Skragrott as general if you wanted, 2.) merged two of those 6 squigs+herders into one battleline so they can have a bit more oomph, and 3.) run 15 Bounderz in one unit!!! They're so good together! If they get blasted by something before charging just spend a CP (or two in this case) for Inspiring Presence! Super worth it!
About Aetherquartz, you can try casting a spell before burning an Aq to either reroll or give it +1, so no need to use it at the start of the phase or before casting or anything. Just has to be before unbinds 👌
30:02. Sunmetal weapons cause mortal wounds. In dawnriders(cavalry) that's the lance. Not sword. Not every weapon is sunmetal. Specifically it's archer arrows(none of the melee weapons), wardens it's the pike(not the champion sword) and dawnriders it's the lances(not the sword and def not the horses :D)
my friend is starting up a Gloomspite force that she's calling the Hogwartz Gitz, and yes she is planning on painting those goblins to resemble HP characters
I'm so happy there's another Lumineth batrep! Definitely want to see more! Steve you asked for a good list with Lumineth; there's a super powerful list with 2 units of 20 sentinels and 2 units of 20 wardens, the sentinels behind the wardens as they all advance. It's insanely OP along with everything else added, but also kind of boring as you're picking off things while slowly advancing forward. But I absolutely love playing them
So many amethyst statues as memorials to Matt’s glory days (can someone find Matt a bunch of amethyst skeletons as a present.) ... and now to Age of Sigmar. Putting the “high” in high fantasy.
24:31. Why not ever do it? For one sometimes ability to attack more than 1 unit is more important than 1-2 extra attacks per weapon. Albeit most of the time attacks are better but if you use the ability you MUST attack at ONE unit only.
I've had a lot of fun watching the batrap. Thumbs up! But for gods sake, play the Jaws of Mork allegiance from White Dwarf next time. Its waaaaay more interesting and fun to play with a full squig army!
As a vampire counts player from 6th....oh we started? Oh you got first turn? Oh...I have 250 models of zombies....oh, you want me to roll how many dice?! Oh well, there goes 75% of it. Oh, gg.

Steve, Avelenor's command ability affects ALARITH AELF units, in your list you have NO units that have the ALARITH and AELF keywords. The only units in the book with both keywords are the Alarith Stonemage and the Alarith Stoneguard.
im new to warhammer AoS, how come he's rolling after the wound and after the D3 damage? only one of the rolls i think is an armour save - whats the other roll for?
Lumineth unit that can hit: 20-30 warden when enemy charges. Many times enemy unit has charged it and basically get vaporized. -1 to hit,. 2+/5++ for defense, then 2 attack each MW on 5+. That's a LOT of MW's. You better have CP for inspiring presence in your pocket or you'll end up nuked.
So Lumineth are super strong. I think we all now know that Lumineth and Gravelords are the first AoS 3.0 battletomes. I'd expect them to get surpassed very fast.
I’m fairly new to Warhammer and AoS, what are you rolling when a character (I.e. teclas) gets dealt a mortal wound? I thought you couldn’t make a save throw for those?
Some models or spells can give units a "ward" save, which triggers after the units normal save and can negate regular wounds, mortal wounds, or both. In this case Protection of Teclis gives the units a ward save that ignores both wounds and mortal wounds on a 5+, so long as the unit is wholly with 18" of Teclis.
Love all the squig content but you've gotta play the jaws of mork rules. The extra damage on the charge from the new battalion would have made a big difference in this game
"getting back into double touch". Irrelevant. Once you are not touching 2 models you never ever get -1 back without ability to set up unit again. Couple endless spells allow removing unit and set it up on board again but none present. The moment you finish move/remove casualty so that you don't touch 2 models you are no longer getting -1 hit rest of game regardless of how you move
Does that work? I feel like the intent of the spell portal is for targeted spells and not ones that read "everything within x of the caster" suddenly using the second portal. I mean if it does, cool. I just... it dosen't feel right.
@@PharosofLight There used to be an faq stating that you couldnt use aoe spells that dont specify a target through a spellportal but that faq has sense been taken down. The verbatum wording on the spellportal is "If a Wizard successfully casts a spell while they are within 1" of an Umbral Spellportal model, the range and visibility of the spell can be measured from the other Umbral Spellportal model from this endless spell." It goes on to talk about endless spells interacting with it but does not specifically say that only targeted spells have to go through the portal.
The paint job on the Lumineth is awesome! And a really fun battle report, you could see that you two had fun. Steve clearly had to look at the rules one more time though, there were a lot of mistakes (both good and bad for him).
