FANTASY LIVES *STOMP STOMP*
yey
No stomping in this battle report. lelz
Spoilers 2:
The champion of the Knights of the Realm sees his Lord charge at the foul demon, an entire retinue of Grail Knights by his side. The Prophetess raises her staff and a primal strength surges through the Lord and his Standard Bearer. The champion smiles for now he knows that his Lord will win in a test of arms. But he realizes a group of oozing bulking demonspawns wading into the river. He realizes their intentions. If they attack the knights in the flank, it will all be over. He knows what he must do and doesn’t hesitate for a second. He urges his mighty steed forward into the once beautiful river of Carcasonne, now twisted by the presence of the demons into a thick torrent of streaming blood. It bathes him as he gallops through it, placing himself between his Lord and the abominations. He raises his lance and challenges the foul beasts. He will hold this position, for the Lady!
I still have my old chaos demon army from Fantasy. It’s so nice to see people play with these old armies!
Never really watched fantasy before, but it seems really fun after watching this. I really like how the magic mechanics work.
Specific super spells with Save-or-die effects really sucked and had a bad influence on the meta of 8th edition, but the underlying magic dice mechanics and the kind of bluffing mini-game it created were one of my favorite parts of 8th ed.
Full Nurgle army. So "friendly" game, as much possible.
Btw great batrep, hail knights of Bretonia!
it is kind of friendly. there is no 8 Beasts of Nurgle on the table :)
He brought a PoS soulgrinder, what more do you want?
The Lady weeps to see so many of her devoted warriors fall this day.
They are a noble sacrifice to Khorne
Live given in sevice of the Lady is the life well spent.
Spoilers:
I see a champion of Knights if the Realm preparing his men for a charge, when they are suddenly engulfed by noxious fumes. One by one his men suffocate on their own bloody vomit and he knows what is coming, but he endures. He is the only one left standing but he endures. Several times his lungs feel like bursting, his skin starting to rot away, the Great Unclean One cackling. But his faith finally rewards him, a surge if divine light washing over his body, the magic is dispelled. His comrades bodies have already rottet away. But he looks the Great Unclean One straight in the eyes. Hatred fills his heart. He is still undeterred.
Watched the whole video. Loved that my first Warhammer Army, Brettonians getting some love and great personalities and commentaries that made the game most fun to watch.
Probably the best battlereport ive watched so far! And ive watched ALL your material. =P Really really really liked it, all of it. You guys are the best!
Never get bored watching Luka and Steve play fantasy
Spoilers 3:
The 3 abominations charge at the champion, and as they enter the river the red color recedes, transforming it into a stinking black more. The champion readies himself. His Lord is still engaged with the foul demon, he can not falter. But in the river he can not use his lance properly. His attacks are too weak to pierce the hide of his foes. The 3 spawns retaliate, but handicapped by the sticky waters themselves they do not manage much. Except for one one who throws its entire body mass against the champion and his steed. He knows his armor can not protect him. He is ready to rejoin his comrades. But in the last moment a divine light engulfs him again. The same light that saved him from the noxious spell. The beast gets blown back, looking clueless as to what stopped it. The champion pulls back and catches his breath. The Lady saved him. He held! In that moment he hears his Lord cry out from behind him: “For the Lady!” As he turns around he sees his Lord charging against the wounded demon, trying to meagerly to pull itself away. The Lord is bloodied himself but charges forward without fear. The demon raises its filthy sword but the Lord is faster. With overwhelming force he thrusts his lance into the demon’s gut. With a painful roar the demon’s form shifts, and it melts away. The knights roar in triumph! The foul demon is slayed!
Became a vault member again just for season 2 of Old World Wars. Keep up the good work guys, I love these battle reports.
Love that you brought back Fantasy!!! Keep em coming 👍
I will always have a special spot for Bretonnia in my heart. In the End Times I wanted to get back to WHFB and I was looking at Bretonnia - loved the lore, the units, how elite and individual the army could be. I got the Army Book, was saving money, then x months later...AoS kicked in.
Awesome battle! Grailknight DT-tests for the river 45 mins in, but you caught it later!! This was very exciting to watch.
Actually it wasn't a tied combat in the middle. Steve forgot to count a wound he inflicted on the Beasts, making 7 wounds
21:15 shock when you ignored the turn 1 charge.
To clarify not a rules mistake since they catch it right afterwards.
Luka did forget to shoot with his Soul Grinder though. To excited about the magic phase!
Thank you for keeping fantasy alive.
One of my favourite Fantasy batreps of all time. Would love to see you do one of the map campaigns, e.g. Blood In The Badlands.
The random river stuff reminds me of how I had a ranger/pathfinder army from 3ed 40K that I continued to play for multiple editions...then GWU’s hardon for random terrain effects made it so I could no longer hide my rangers (who require cover to survive at all) inside woods because like 5 of the 6 results on the table would wipe out the unit in a couple of turns.
Edit for half a sentence getting lost somewhere.
So glad to see Fantasy back! Shouldn't the Prophetess given Magic Resist 2 to the Grail Knights for both the Nurgle vortex spell and the miscast, adding to the Lady's saves?
Love to see daemons of chaos
I think Luke might’ve meant the rocks symbolised “fords” rather than “fjords” 🤔
Lovely to watch a Bret. force for first time in ages 🥰
Steve channeling his inner Owen "Do it take the charge"
Seems like Fantasy is making a comeback in lots of places. I'm actually playing in a group that has been trying 5th edition in Buffalo.
A limited one.
Once had someone fight tooth and nail with me about the curse that it only worked when you moved through area terrain. Wouldn't accept that it worked when moving across open terrain.
I've had the same and honestly I blame the writing they could have so easily just made it say either "moving through non- open terrain" or "any move" causes and it would have been clear
Lovely, no buses of knights.
Did he say Lord Jean Baguette?
Yup, the Duke of Earl. :)
Don't forget about his cousin bruschetta😊🤣👍
I've watched a few of these now and it surprises me how one single move can ruin an entire army.
I'm from Russia. I like this channel
Oh my God. I love it! I recommend 7th edition of WFB because of far superior core rules and better balanced army books than 8th.
I know this video is old but does anyone identify the playing matt used in the video? It would mean a lot to me, thanks.
Shouldn't Steve's Grail Knights have taken Dangerous Terrain checks for reforming in the river?
Incomplete ranks section. You fight like there is no gap for both armies.
Awesome batrep btw!!!
Where did you get those movement trays for the plague bearers?
Nice, Chaos Demons!
Hi guys,
I like your gamemat, can you tell me, where can i buy it? Thx, best regards
You did play a narrative game before. Steve got a massive overcharge and stopped the whole nagash business before it started. And the end times along with it. Way better story than the end times.
whut i didn't know they made a miniatures game out of total war warhammer. it looks fun
Are you being serious rn? The videogame is based off the miniature game.
r/wooosh
Hahahahahahaha get out
Its actually really hard to tell sarcasm via text alone. I forget the name of the effect but its an Internet phenomenon where parody satire and sarcasm are all hard to distinguish
@@ABLEARC i'm just being a bit sarcastic. i could have been a bit more silly to trive home the point. btw super excited for them to bring it back
Steve! Charge! With! The! Knights!
Hmm you imply failed tactics here
I will say it again....
Tree. Bucket. Steve.
Nice intro fellas.
Nice, even when i hate the demons 😂
If you hadnt charged the peasants in near the end there you probably would have caused alot more crumbling that first round of combat.
They broke steadfast so resolution actually counted for something
@@laki7480 Oh, good catch.
How can the damsel attack back? Shes in the front rank while being flanked
The movement trays for the plague beaters are pretty cool, are they size accurate?
They are about 25% bigger.
I really don't get why Steve forced the miscast.
brought the item for the first time ever. had to, just had to
@@MountainMiniatures it did cost you the game though.
Still, really fun to see a more narrative style game. And it looks like it was a lot of fun.
What a pleasant (or should I say PEASANT, YUK YUK) Friday surprise!
Warhammer Fantasy!
Yo! Please do some 9th Age batreps!
Can anyone tell me where to get the custom d6 dice they use
Like a normal d6 but with a picture as the 1 or 6
I'm not sure if they specifically ordered from there, but I do know that you can order custom d6 from Chessex.
I thought you could stomp cavalry with monsters?
LORD JEAN BAGUETTE
How come my man didn't rock any peasent bowmen?
FOR ZE LADY!
But i support papa too
Such tragedy
Please do more fantasy!
rip trebs did absolutley nothing
Cool.
Bretonnia where the best I miss the army.
Love fantasy
Much better than AoS
Nah, AoS definitely has better rules.
AoS is easier, but it's like saying that checkers are better than chess because they are easier. AoS has too easy rules, you don't have to think about them, the old system forced you to think but ypu loved it, and had many more tactics. And lore fantasy is much better than AoS and no one can say that no.
@@bartoszwaligorski3533 AoS as a system can be played in layers. If you haven't played 2nd edition then you aren't up to date on the rules. As for fantasy, its rules helped kill it. As for lore, AoS is an on going story.
@@mogwaiman6048 AoS rules are easy because they are written for children to lower the age thresholds, just like lore. GW did it because it was close to bankruptcy, they had no good idea either for it or for it. Sometimes I play AoS with youngers and then I appreciate the ease of the rules, but lore of AoS will never be better than Fantasy. For a reason AoS models sell well, but what is associated with lore like books is much worse. That is why GW is coming back to fantasy because its start interest younger players again (mainly thanks to Warhammer Total War) who want a good story, not only good minis. In my opinion of course.
@@bartoszwaligorski3533 lol most gamers won't buy a single model. Just be glad GW is throwing this bone to you. This is a Horus Heresy game for the fantasy side of Warhammer. As for AoS being written for children, that's a bunch of BS. Whether you play WHFB or AoS you're playing with plastic toys.
Fantasy so much better than aos
wonder how much GW pays them to not play the much better and more balanced 9th age rules.
Fjords aren’t river fords.
Nice game, but why did the Bretonnians just sit there, waiting to be charged while the HQ attacked on their own? I am ofc gonna call bullshit on the chaos rules because they are bullshit, then again Bretonnian rolls were more bullshit. Sitting there, waiting to receive charges is not cool...
Never worth the risk
Kaos winns
Such a weird looking Age of Sigmar.
Do wish they at least came up with a new army that approximates the Brettonians. Order knights are currently lacking in the setting.
Also wouldn't mind my tomb kings back.
@@Blight02 Ossiarch Bonereapers replaced the Tomb Kings. You can still use Bretonnia & Tomb Kings in AoS though. Their units and heroes have points but they don't have their own individual allegiances. Bretonnia uses the Order allegiance and Tomb Kings uses the Death allegiance.
