    Hi Doc! Thank you for this video I learned a lot. But I have a question, I recently tried using bha toners but I think it caused me pimples and small bumps causing my skin to have texture which I don’t have before. The bha that I’m using claim to be for everyday use (the other one is almost water based) and has 0.5% bha. What should I do to clear up my skin? Should I stop using it or just minimize the no. of times I’m using it? I have oily and sensitive skin btw. I hope you can answer my question doc. Thank you! ☺️❤️

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +1

      Wendy Nual hello! BHA 0.5% is very low concentration, what are the other ingredients of the toner? If you are experiencing rednessC itchiness, burning sensation, i suggest you discontinue everything and let your skin recover. If none of these, then the bumps on your skin could be comedones or small acne lesions - i suggest you consult if you want to know for sure. But for now try:
      1. Double cleansing at night
      2. Exfoliating with higher concentration chemical exfoliants (5-10%) 1-2x a week
      Try for 1-2 weeks. If your condition worsens or doesn’t improve, i suggest you see a dermatologist even just for online consultation:)

      Music Hero hello! You will probably get different answers from different experts. But I personally prefer to was the face, with a gentle cleanser, first to remove all the dirt and debris, before exfoliating.
      It also depends on what kind of exfoliant you are using - physical scrub or chemical exfoliant. Some physical scrubs are also cleansers so in this case you might not need to wash before you exfoliate. But when using chemical exfoliants either in toner form or peeling pads, i would recommend that you wash your face first :)

      Toph Beifong hello! Depends on your skin type and what kind of exfoliant you are using. If you are oily and acne-prone pwede up to 3x a day. If normal to combination skin pwede 2x a week. For dry skin, once a week is ok :)

    • @irenegaile

      Oh a clay mask is not an exfoliant except nalang if it contains acids which is not something that I imagine is available. Clay masks are drying and using them with exfoliants may cause irritation.

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад

      I dont recommend using soaps on the face kc drying cya, stick to gentle cleansers.
      For exfoliating i recommend low concentration AHAs (5-10%) for normal to combination skin and low concentration BHAs (salicylic acid, 2% or less) if you are oily or acne-prone :)

      But I wanna try yung Celeteque na anti acne, or any facial washes na may salicylic acid na tama lang ang concentration at dapat low ph.

    Hi doc, new subscriber here!!! Does betaine salicylate effective as salicylic acid? Mostly korean skincare products use this as BHA since may limit daw sa paggamit ng salicylic acid sa korea.

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +1

      Kier Vincent Salaño hello! Betaine salicylate comes from beets and you’re right, it is used as an alternative to salicylic acid (SA) in areas where SA use is regulated. However there arent that many studies about it yet in terms of efficacy and how it compares with SA. Some say that you need a higher concentration of betaine salicylate to match the efficacy of SA, while others say that it’s similar.
      Bottom line is, always listen to your skin, observe, if it responds to betaine salicylate and addresses your skin concerns then it means its a good match for your skin :)

    hi doc yung topical 3% salicylic acid na over-the-counter sa mga watsons and mercury drugs can be applied to our face po? im just worried it might be too harsh sa skin lalo na when i read the description it is supposedly for warts and corns (didn’t say na it’s for pimples).
    i’ve tried it for months and although it works im kinda worried lang kasi my skin peels and minsan super dry even if i’ve applied my moisturizer. i just want to know if this product is safe to use on my face. :)

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 года назад

      Sa face i usually recommend 1-2% salicylic acid in toner form :) ung 3% hindi naman cya gaanong mataas but if it says for warts or corns baka may iba pa cyang kasamang ingredients na hindi ok gamitin sa face.
