I use the Oil of Olay, because of the packaging. I know that I can use every drop of the product. And even at my advanced age of 63, I have enough strength and energy to open and close the jar. 😊
Years ago, I asked my dermatologist what she would suggest for a daily skincare routine that would be affordable. She recommended CeraVe. After all these years, I couldn't be happier!!!
Thank you for this! I use CereVe daytime moisturizer with the 30 SPF and I use the Olay retinol at night. I've been using the CereVe for ever and the Olay about a year. I'm 63 and trying a little late to take care of my skin. I find the Olay retinol amazing, I won't use anything else now.
I used both, the Cera Ve retinol longer. I just started the Olay retinol and I LOVE the Olay product more. It’s FAR more moisturizing. I have dry to normal skin and will ay that was addressed by Olay.
For me? Cerave. Very good for sensitive dry skin. No negative reactions at all. I'm 58 and combined with other Cerave products there is next to no dryness any more.
The biggest preventative to skin damage is to use sunscreen. As an RN at 21 a dermatologist showed me a patient’s back and neck of an older rancher and the neck looked like old, tough, dark, cracked shoe leather but his back was smooth and pale. It was the late 70’s and sunscreen wasn’t as advanced as now, but I wore hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen as much as possible. In my 40’s, I wore vee necked scrubs, worked nights and rarely went out during the day but used sunscreen. One day, I noticed that I had a vee shaped tan and realized that it had to come from the artificial lights in the hospital. I suggest that people put on sunscreen every day, even inside. I am 65 and get compliments on my skin, recently from my dental hygienist who said that the lights they use highlight everything. It might not be noticeable when you are younger, but it definitely will make a difference when you age. One also needs to treat your neck with the same care.
I prefer the Olay. I am 32 with combo skin (very oily forehead, nose and chin but dry and flaky cheeks). I love that one, the retinol 24 fragrance free. It really makes my skin glow! I think it has actually helped my acne as well, maybe because it clears the pores as you said. I have definitely noticed it has even my skin texture as well. However I absolutely love Cerave for facial cleanser. I use the foaming one that says oil control. For some reason, that cerave retinol broke me out. But the cerave cleanser and olay cream...perfect combo for me! 😊
Retinol should break u out. As it takes all dirty stuff from lower skin layers and brings it to surface. This process is temporal and called purging. U need to add Finacea /Skinoren or Benzoyl Peroxide for AM on pimples to solve it
I got Olay Regenerst24 as a Christmas present from my daughter and it is amazing I could see overnight results that I bought the collegan 24 peptide cream at Sams club 2 in a package for 35.00 today. I am 70 but do not look it and on some utube channels call these two combinations miracle in a jar!

(I was complaining that I feel that my skin has aged overnight since turning 44). I've used Olay twice this week and I must say, I am super impressed with how my skin already looks. Looks so dewy! I used Cerevé products in my 40's. Started using Olay Regenerest in my 50's (56 next month). Added Olay Retinol night cream since it came out. What a game changer for mature normal to dry skin! I'd like to mention that moisturizer is applied after washing your face; so your hands are clean when you dip it into the jar. The product stayes clean and I (wipe) my fingers off on my earlobes ( ever notice us "old people" with wrinkled earlobes) and back of hands.
@Tareasa Tiffin I've always used lotion on my hands, but it never occurred to me to use my moisturizer and serum there. I'm 51 and my hands don't look old yet, but definitely going to start taking better care of them.

Yes Manuel, greetings from Ireland.. here in local pharmacy I saw 2 for 1 deal on the Olay retinol and the one in a white jar, I think it's a ceramide cream. Looking forward to visiting Spain soon, love buying certain products in Pharmacy.

I use Olay Retinol 24 at night and I use CeraVe moisturiser with Hyaluronic acid during the day . I use La Roche Posay cream cleanser to take off my make up. I have to say that the Olay product definitely has made a difference to my skin. I'm 67 and I've been using it for about 2 years. My skin looks more luminous and less patchy. Yes, it's a problem being in a pot, because it does disappear that's for sure; as to the fact that I have to put my fingers in it? So what! My hands are clean. It's no more difficult to put a lid back on a pot than using a pump, honestly some people are very lazy, obviously. I like the pump action of the CeraVe moisturiser because it's great for travelling and it's very light.
Wow. My regimen mirrors yours. I use Laroche Posay cleaner and toner, as well as their makeup remover of of use any. And I use Olay 24 at night and Cerave day moisturizer with sunscreen. It's amazing how my skin has improved in the short few months I've started to take care of my skin now that I'm my mid 40s.
I love that you are comparing well known products widely available and reasonably priced for most. This current pandemic has reduced household inome drastically and as a result most skin care regimes have probably had to be stripped to what is left from pre - covid times.
The retinol formulation overall is more important than percentage. Just like sunscreen, while a computer model technically provides some theoretical information about a formulations efficacy, the end product when applied to skin, and it's function is determined by real world use conditions and the underlying condition of the skin.
And, retinol formulation and testing data is proprietary due to copyright laws. Thirdly, a Joe schmoe chemist that really can't/doesn't have the lab facilities and cleanliness standards of an actual cosmetics company can introduce horrific infections over time.
I starting using the cerave a few months after seeing you talk about it and I can already see improvements in the overall look of my skin. I have oily skin and live in a tropical climate so I feel I’m less likely to dry the Olay at this point
I would like to see you compare this Olay product to Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. I am using Differin for almost a year & see no improvement with dark spots
Hello from The Netherlands! I,m 57 tried the Cerave and it was a good product to start with. (I even switched from the Paula,s choice cleanser which i used for many years and like the Cerave cleanser better for my combination skin. ) I have sensitive skin but the Cerave retinol doesn,t irritate at all, no problem putting it on my neck or under my eyes, but i have a tip for people, there,s an retinol eyebalm from Versed, smooth landing eyebalm and it,s supersoft, love your video,s , many greetings
I'm a 66 year old lady with a few scars on one cheek from a chemical spray accident that happened years ago. They've lighted and softened some over the years, but I my fair, fragile, mature skin is persnickety and some retinol creams I've used only made things worse. Makeup can't cover these flaws, so I'm self conscious about them. I've tried a lot of products, but I have a very tight budget, so would like skin care that actually works if I'm going to spend anything on them. I appreciate your reviewing these creams with your special expertise, so I put them on my list! Thank you!
Could you please do a video on which active ingredients we need to avoid whilst using home IPL for hair removal on the face, like the Phillips Lumea? Thank you.
I would love for you to do a review on LOREAL Revitalift night serum retinol and RETINOL anti wrinkle facial serum!! Than you for all the valid information 😊
Thank you Dr. Sugai. God bless. This is my favourite review. I’m using Olay for 8months now my skin looks nice and soft. I put in small container for 1 week use, so I don’t need to open the jar every time I’m going to use it.
I've been using the Cerave for quite awhile now at 60 and have no problem with it over the last year it has made definite positive change -I'm not in love with Olay it tended to break me out a bit and I don't like getting little zits at my age.
It is expected that after retinol u get acne. This process is called purging. Look it up on internet. It s temporal and gets all the dirty stuff from lower layers of ur skin. Don't forget to use sunscreen daily while on retinol
Im fifty and had been using the olay. Started off twice weekly as Drs Maxfield and Shah have suggested on their videos. Watching their video was what pushed me to use it. I can say, its definitely working on my skin. Been using it now for almost 6 months.

I'm trying to get into skincare because mine only consists of washing my face with a cleanser and apply moisturizer lol. But man there's so much stuff: toners, serums, moisturizer, spf, vitamin c, oils, masks, retinol, creams. Its so intimidating. What is important and what isn't ?
Most important would be Cleanser, Moisturizer, SPF. Being intentional with fewer products can be a more effective skincare routine than an abundance of products that are potentially unnecessary depending on the condition of your skin. Hope that helps 😊👍🏽
@Susanne LaCorte I did both for awhile and thought it “might” have been a little much? I’ve been rotating each nightly for the past couple of months, but now think I might try the nightly combo again. I’d love a good answer to this!
I hate to disagree with Dr. Sugai, but I've used both of these retinol brands, I find the Olay24 a little drying (I guess it's stronger than Cerave), I always wake up with a dry lips when I use Olay, even when I put lip balm before sleeping. Also, it's very silky on my fingers, it made my pillow silky, my eyes were dry that I was having a hard time opening them. It's messy. I love the Cerave retinol coz it's not messy to use, it hydrates my face more, although, it probably is milder that it might take longer to take effect. I'm not in a hurry anyways, so yeah, Cerave. ❤❤❤❤ Always choose the one that would make you enjoy the journey. Olay may be stronger and might give faster results, I'm just having a hard time liking when it's on my face. I hope I'll get used to it. I'm 37 by the way.

However in your video you stated to wait 15mins or so then apply the Retinol. So the question is Do I wash and wait or wash, moisturize then apply a Retinol cream?
If you use the cream with a lid and close it immediately it does not go bad before it's gone and of course we need to wash our hands before we apply anything to our faces

@@sofiyafatma2498 I have switched back and forth between the cereve eye cream in the little tube and Clinique eye cream. But plan on giving Olay regenerist eye a try because I've been so happy with their products.
@@sofiyafatma2498 I'm not a professional, so I don't know. If you decide to try it, I would dilute it with a simple moisturizer first, to see how the delicate skin around your eyes react the first few days. But if it says to avoid eye area, I wouldn't. Good luck with your quest to find your perfect eye treatment 🙂
They have retinol body wash now.

Hi Doc, just found your channel and I LOVE it. I'm almost 59 yrs old and really haven't thought about using a retinol. I'm going to give Olay a try. Thank You so much for all the good info you put on this channel
THANK YOu LOVE OLAY CREAMS. IT BEEN IN OUR FAMILY 5 GENERATIONS. I WILL NEVER USED ANY CREAM BUT ONLY OLAY! ♥👍👍
I used the Olay for 7 years. Nothing. Made no improvements whatsoever. I switched to cerave products only. Noticed a change in 2mths.
I've used olay for over 30s I'll be 61 in February. I get a lot of compliments on my skin so I will never change. But I do up my beauty treatments depending on my skin changing and all olay products can help with any skin problems you have as yrs go by just adjust to what you need. Hi from Memphis Tennessee ❤️🥰
Hi fonda Holland
Please help me I use Olay products too. What I use I have so many melasma
Hi doc Sugai help me what should I do. I have so many melasma I lost my confidence because of my face have melasma. Please help me I'm 39 of age. I can't sent you message.
@@lessursenegiro5618 hi, I read your comment and wondering if you use sunscreen? In the daytime after cleansing use only moisturizer a thicker one (no actives) and a 100% mineral sunscreen to block Melasma from increasing.
Do these replace collagen moisturizers or are they added in as last step?
It works great CeraVe as a first layer as a serum and Olay as a second layer. For 47 years old skin does it job.
Great idea
I just started doing this!!! I'm glad to see someone else has done it as well.
A wondering about that….glad to hear that and I’m in the same age bracket and going that route.
Omg I can’t believe you did this video!! Haha I bought the olay cream about a month ago and I just ordered the serum to try out!! Couldn’t be more perfect timing 😆😆
Which had the greatest benefit,he spoke fast for me
@@daisymiller6750 well they both mostly have similar ingredients. Kind of your preference for either a serum or a cream moisturizer. I use the CeraVe serum personally because it has licorice root extract. And that apparently has shown to reduce redness, one of my personal issues. He said CeraVe for 20-30yr olds beginning in retinol. Olay for 30+
Looking for a product that can take away acne scar any suggestions, just found your channel
@@racquelyapp9259 not sure if you meant comment on the general section lol, only I will see this and not doctor sugai!! Haha but you can look into retinoids, vitamin C, or AHA/BHA possibly for acne scarring!!
@@daisymiller6750 At 10:24, he mentions that himself and his wife use the Olay one.
Ive been using that Olay product for a few years love it!
Me too 👍👍
I bought the Olay retinol 24 under your recommendation Dr. I have yet to see any improvement but ill definitely purchase again cos i loveeee the texture on my face. Hehe.
Yes!!!! Olay wins this one!!! Here in Europe is often on a 2 for one!!! Cerave retinol is not easy to get here!!!.. thanks Dr. Sugai 👍
Really, can you say where you find those deals?
Also, do you apply it around your eyes?
Yes Manuel, greetings from Ireland.. here in local pharmacy I saw 2 for 1 deal on the Olay retinol and the one in a white jar, I think it's a ceramide cream. Looking forward to visiting Spain soon, love buying certain products in Pharmacy.
Estaba buscando un certified dermatologo y lo encontré a usted. Gracias por su gran ayuda. Tengo 62 años nunca he usado los productos mencionados, los quiero usar. Me fascina como lo explica. Bendiciones.
Thanks for doing this video. Very helpful.
I use the same products as you. The combination seems to help
Thank you ! Really appreciate your time hello from New Zealand 😊
I love that you are comparing well known products widely available and reasonably priced for most. This current pandemic has reduced household inome drastically and as a result most skin care regimes have probably had to be stripped to what is left from pre - covid times.
Not just pandemic. Let's go Brandon.
Used Olay for years. Skin is clear & ,soft. Except for under my eyes, Happy. Puffy eyes! Nothing works
Any suggestions 🤔 🙏😘
Thanks Doc,,,,you’re the best!!
I’ve been using the Olay since your blog a couple of months ago & I’m loving it 🥰
Why don’t these companies tell us the percentage of Retinol in their products? Makes me feel theyre hiding something.
There's not much Retinol in these products, not enough to do too much but get one if that's all you can get...
@@Gena777-r95 is there a higher retinol you suggest?

Thank you for this…. Especially for us mature 60+ mature skin people. Knowing which one works best for dry skin.
Great! I started Olay/retinol last week for the first time ever. Glad I got to watch this video.
I starting using the cerave a few months after seeing you talk about it and I can already see improvements in the overall look of my skin. I have oily skin and live in a tropical climate so I feel I’m less likely to dry the Olay at this point
I love their hand cream as I have very dry skin from thyroid and Graves’ disease.
Thank you Doc, How about the No 7 advance retinol complex? Cerave is out of stock so I end up buying the No 7.
I will review that next! It’s a good one 👍😀
Besutypedia gives the no 7 advanced retinol 1.5% complex five stars
Yes, I will stick with my Olay24.
16:18 Do I have to apply hyaluronic acid after applying olay retinol, before or after?
I would like to see you compare this Olay product to Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. I am using Differin for almost a year & see no improvement with dark spots
He did a video on exactly that comparison 4 months ago! 😊 Take a look on his channel
Yes, he already received those two.
It’s is so interesting to see how your apply/rub in the products
Hello from The Netherlands! I,m 57 tried the Cerave and it was a good product to start with. (I even switched from the Paula,s choice cleanser which i used for many years and like the Cerave cleanser better for my combination skin. ) I have sensitive skin but the Cerave retinol doesn,t irritate at all, no problem putting it on my neck or under my eyes, but i have a tip for people, there,s an retinol eyebalm from Versed, smooth landing eyebalm and it,s supersoft, love your video,s , many greetings
Thank you so much!!! You Let me know that I made a good decision using my Olay. Was so confused about it! 💕
Thank you!
That was very helpful I'm 63 n it's great to here what can truly benefit my skin especially when it comes from a Drs expectation. 🤗💯👍
Can you do a video on lupus skin care?
Thank you! That's wonderful! Really appreciate it! Was just looking at them!
Thanks for posting this, Dr Sugar!
Thanks for this. I’m 53 and I’m just starting with retinol. I like the Olay!
Im fifty and had been using the olay. Started off twice weekly as Drs Maxfield and Shah have suggested on their videos. Watching their video was what pushed me to use it. I can say, its definitely working on my skin. Been using it now for almost 6 months.
Oil of Play, when getting to close to my eyes, makes them tear
Switched to french product, np more problems. Now I tried Cerave and I am totally in love with my new skincare.
Has anybody REALLY been able to get even coverage from a "pea size" drop? I haven't ever.
Good question! 😂👏🏼👏🏼
EXACTLY!
49 years old and using olay retinol 24 serum..love it.
Hello dr. Sugai!😊can you have a review of olay collagen peptides😊
Sure!! I bought it awhile ago and have yet to make a video
Hey, I enjoyed and appreciated this video! I just saw on Amazon Olay retinol MAX as well as the Olay retinol. What's the difference between these two??
I've been using Cerave that particular one on video since you did the review a couple months ago I'm 45 years old but I've always cared for my face with washing twice a day and moisturising and sunscreen and I'm in love with Cerave I do see the a difference thank you!
So great to hear!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌thanks for letting me know
@@danielsugaimd Hello Dr,
I'm a fan from Nigeria and I have to thank you for your videos and reviews. However I have a concern about hydration. Naturally after a toner I use a serum before ending with a moisturizer. So at night I don't know if I should use a hydrating serum before using the retinol cream by Olay. Or can I use a retinol serum and then end with Olay retinol night cream. Will that be too much retinol? Please advise. Thanks again
@@JasKenMoore hi, to my knowledge, you just use one product of retinol. hydrating then retinol (serum or olay)

@@lucillebennet4233 here's an "all natural" cure for your STD: keep your pants on.
I might try the Olay, I've gone through two of the CeraVe bottles and my wrinkles are not improved at all.
Could you please introduce an effective plant-based and cruelty free retinol serum? Thank you!
Great video. I’m on Retin-A cream 0.25mg at night. Would it be too much to use the Olay 24 after my prescription for a moisturizer?
@Susanne LaCorte I did both for awhile and thought it “might” have been a little much? I’ve been rotating each nightly for the past couple of months, but now think I might try the nightly combo again. I’d love a good answer to this!
I use 0.5 retin A plus the Olay 24 moisturizer... It doesn't affect my skin.
I will use olay I have combination skin dry skin .. Thanks 🙏🏼 for the information
Always choose the one that would make you enjoy the journey. Olay may be stronger and might give faster results, I'm just having a hard time liking when it's on my face. I hope I'll get used to it.
I'm 37 by the way.
Yes- the best retinol is the one that works for your skin! Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all product. Thanks for sharing your experience. 🙏🏼

Hello Doc, I’m 68 and have hyperpigmentation due to years of sunbathing in my youth🤭 Was wondering what you think about DERMELECT’s “OUTCREASE RETINOL TRIFECTA SERUM”? It’s apparently 5% Retinol, but non irritating, even for beginners!? I’ve never used retinol before😮

Thank you for this wonderful review. Some of my friends here swear by Lancôme Génifique products. Any comments or reviews?
Hi Doc! Can you do a compare between the Olay’s retinol and the ROC Deep Wrinkle Retinol? Thank you!!!
Thank you for such a good comparison video on the two products. I do have one question. I have always been told to moisturize as soon as you wash your face. so it doesn't dry out. However in your video you stated to wait 15mins or so then apply the Retinol. So the question is Do I wash and wait or wash, moisturize then apply a Retinol cream?
CeraVe has the airless pump. Reduces oxidation. CeraVe wins.
That is why i bought the Ebanel Retinol. Good packaging, made in US...
If you use the cream with a lid and close it immediately it does not go bad before it's gone and of course we need to wash our hands before we apply anything to our faces
Not if the pumps failed, which happened to me and lots of people in Australia.
That’s a deal breaker for me, I won’t buy anything unless it’s an airtight package.
Yes I love it. Been using for 2 years and it has really helped my skin.
Can u suggest which really effective retinol product I can use to get rid of red acne marks pls?
