    Hi doc, regarding myth no.7, you mentioned that it's better to opt for over the counter spot treatment such as Clindamycin, is it safe to try without prescription even though it's an antibiotic?

    • @irenegaile

      There are OTC topical spot treatment antibitoics that are ok to use naman basta wag lng for extended periods of time because it can lead to resistance. Better benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin with benzoyl peroxide :)

    Dra. Gaile, hi po, are Derma suction really effective in cleaning clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads? And are they more effective than Nose Pore Strips??

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 года назад +2

      Lemuel Celis hi lemuel!
      Are you referring to microdermabrasion with suction (diamond peel)? The suction isn’t really intended to remove comedones although sometimes nasasama na cya. The suction is meant to make the exfoliation more efficient.
      Nose strips on the other hand may remove some of the protruding blackheads but does nothing to the whiteheads. Plus it can also strip off your stratum corneum (top layer of the skin) which can lead to irritation.
      In my opinion the most effective ways to remove blackeheads and whiteheads are:
      1. Extraction using the right tools by an experienced practitioner
      2. Preventing their formation in the first place by using retinoids and doing proper and regilat exfoliation.

    Hello Doc, Pahelp naman po. I've been prescribed epiduo by my derma and she told me to put it all over my face. I have a lot of pimples on my cheeks and side part of my jaws, huge ones. But I'm super clear on my forehead, as in 0 pimples on my forehead. Nagsearch po ako about epiduo and some people said that their doctor told them to put in only on affected areas. I'm afraid that I'll purge on my forehead which is the only clear part of my face. Whole face po ba or affected areas lang po?

      Michelle Pagliran hello! Epiduo is also preventive and I tell my patients to put it all over the face as well. However, if you have cystic acne, topical medications might not be enough. For moderate to severa acne I normally prescribe topical and oral medications.

Acne is a medical condition that needs medical treatment, especially pag moderate to severe na -- pimples all over the face, blackheads and whiteheads. kailangan mo mag consult sa dermatologist, stop experimenting. Soaps and over-the-counter acne products only help mild acne but hindi talaga cya effective in controlling moderate to severe acne.

      They are both types of exfoliation and can improve flat scars. Chemical peels, depending on the type of peel can help with atrophic scars- but this is also administrator-dependent.

      Take zapzyt or the inkey list salicylic as cleanser (any BHA cleanser) moisturize while skin is a bit damp, apply thin layer of adapalene, let dry and apply spf 30 sunscreen (altruist sunscreen is cheap as well as celeteque) every 4 hrs at home. Wash only ONCE a day before sleep. (SKIP THE KOREAN ROUTINE) trust me on this if you have oily skin. Adapalene focuses on oily glands as well as prevents future breakouts. However on the first weeks, you WILL experience some purging but you’ll thank me for it. Continue doing the routine for 3 months and rest from using adapalene for a month and then use it only thrice a week. Have a nice day, Alex!
