I would love if you clear out my doubt - what percentage of benzol peoxide based content in a cream must be used on an oily teenage skin in order to cure acnes and shrink those pores?

Oh soon after ive evenly applied the product, I apply the next one. I would say 20-30 seconds? even less sometimes, but I make sure I apply each of them evenly all over my face.

Yes, thats why your derm prescribed them alternately. They cannot be applied at the same time. Pwede ung isa umaga then ung isa gabi, or alrernate days :)

That depends on the brand and what it says on the packaging. IMO no need to put in the fridge

Best to discontinue using the BPO and apply an anti-inflammatory and soothing creams instead. ok dn to take antihistamine. if it doesnt improve, I suggest you consult.

Hello Doc. I've been using BP gel 5% for two weeks now and I don't see any dryness or peeling but my acnes got worse! They last for 2-3 days tho but my face is very bad. I am using it once a day, put a little amount directly on acne and I leave it for 2 hours. Is that normal side effect? I don't want to make my face worse that it is. Thank you.
It could mean you need more than just topical medications. I recommend a consultation before your acne lesions get any worse.

Sunflower oil is said to be high in vitamin e, liloleic acid and is a good moisturizer because of its antioxidant properties. I don’t recommend it though as a treatment for acne :)

Hmmm how are u using it? topical antibiotics should not be used for long periods of time as it can breed bacterial resistance and I dont recommend it as monotherapy for acne because acne is not an infectious condition. if prescribed naman sayo i guess u just have to follow up regularly.

the BPO can control bacterial population while the antiperspirant controls the sweating :)

BP is something we give for mild to moderate acne. Moderate to severe cases need more medication. Pls consult so that you can treat your acne and achieve clear skin.
Is Benzoyle Peroxide okay during an Isotretinoin course? Because it is the only topical agent I know to eliminate folliculitis on my face
Yes but it would be best to ask the physician who prescribed you with isotretinoin

Sensitive - soap free, liquid facial washes
Oily - with salicylic acid or glycolic acid

I always recommend properly cleaning your face before applying any product :) Any cleanser naman is ok as long as it doesnt leave you're skin feeling dry or stretched after washing. Toners naman ok lng din as long as your skin can tolerate.

Good evening doc. Last year po, i went to derma & the doctor prescribed me with adapalene & topical antibiotic. I have used it po for 3 mos. and I don't see result.. When i told her that, she then promptly suggested accutane po which i disagreed. Tbh, im hoping we'll explore other option first before that.. 🙁☹️
Just this September, I have decided to self medicate doc & stick to BP.. so far, I'm liking the result. Sandwich method (moisturizer) doc ginagawa ko.. so far ok man. Im just thinking abt adapalene because of my PIE&PIH doc. To be fair, I still believe in the efficacy of adapalene po even if i don't see immediate result before.. what should i do po doc? pwede na ba?

I‘ve heard from many people that their acne went away when using BP. Then they stopped using it and the acne came back of course. Then they started using BP again and it caused really bad irritation and/or didn‘t work anymore.. how come?
BP for mild acne, moderate to severe will need other products and treatment

How do you know you're resistant? But yes BPO will work because the mechanism of action is different from antibiotics.

It can be applied 1-2x a day depending on your tolerance, bpo concentration and other products in your skincare routine. But remember to start with less frequency/gradually incorporating it into your routine

Hi Doc Gaile. Thank you sa mga videos mo po. Super informative. My question is i am already 47 yrs old but i still get occasional acne. I have my skicare routine with Niacinamide and Hyalauronic Acid. This Skincare helps me a lot. I have used it for 2 years. Lumalabas po ung pimples sa ibabaw ng pimple marks ko kaya imbis na mawawala na ung marks magkakaroon na naman po ng bago.

If you have acne I strongly suggest you have a proper consultation. It’s hard to make recommendations without assessing your skin especially if you have acne :)

Both can be too drying. But if it works for you, you can continue maybe just add a moisturizer

Side effect talaga ng BPO yan
Thats why i dont recommend putting it on right before you sleep kc nakaka stain ng sheets. Other anti-acne meds are prescription meds na e. Best to consult.

Regular moisturizers are usually not enough for keratosis pilaris. You would need humectants and exfoliants. Best to be guided via a formal consultation :)

Anything that increases skin turnover - retinoids, exfoliants, bpo - can cause purging. If it lasts more than 4 weeks baka hindi na yan purging
Thank you doc. Di pa naman po ako gumagamit. Gusto ko pong gumamit during occassional breakouts. Siguro po mga 2-3 times a week ko lang po gamitin? Or kung kailan lang po may breakouts? Gusto ko din po kasing iprevent na lang para wala na pong itreat.

Doc I’m torn between azelaic acid 20% and epiduo gel. I used to use epiduo way back and it treat my acne. And now that I’m breastfeeding many suggest to use azelaic. Both ang mahal po kai kaya i want to know what’s more effective. Thank you 🙏
They are both effective naman but i find that adapalene+benzoyl peroxide works faster :)

Baka d kc enough ung topical treatment, which is indicated for mild to moderate acne.

Until you heal, but if mga 6 months na meron parin it means u need additional anti-acne meds
I'm using a glycolic acid soap and adapalene 0.1 benzoyl peroxide 2.5 po as prescribed po sakin. Sa first few weeks, I can see an improvement but after that, my skin has been on and off. it's like a cycle po, laging hindi nawawalan ng bagong pimple. My problem now is I lost contact with the derma and paubos na po yung prescribed sakin. My skin is breaking out na rin these past 2 weeks. I'm planning on using plain benzoyl peroxide po sana. What do you think about that po?
Follow up, should I also stop using glycolic acid soap and use other cleanser po?

Hi Doc. Saw this video about Benzoyl Peroxide, ask ko lang po if pwede imaintenance sya, how long pwede gamitin? Almost 2yrs ko na po ginagamit( Epiduo Forte). Hope masagot po. Thank you in advance.
Pwede naman but if you dont have acne anymore i would suggest you shift to a different skincare product. We dont develop resistance from benzoyl peroxide naman so no need to worry

U can use bpo in am and then tret in pm, magkaiba sila ng mechanism of action and you will benefit more if gamitin mo sila pareho. Topical creams work best for mild acne. If moderate to severe you will need other meds/treatment.
