    new to ur channel doc and im learning a lot. Im in my late 30s i use retinol twice or thrice a week, my skin will get dark, dry. a bit wrinkly which ofcourse dont like and on the 4th day it will start to peel. I wonder why some retinol user can use it often and not peel a lot or just have some micropeeling and not have a darkening effect. i just dont wanna go through that darkening drying stage...i dont put a lot of retinol just a pea size all over my face

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 года назад +2

      Hmmm your skin should not get dark with retinol. Micropeeling/mild flaking and some redness/irritation is ok but not darkening.
      Individuals react to retinoids in different ways. Most people with oily skin will do well and not experience any reaction, whereas those with thin to normal skin will most likely experience some form of irritation. Go first eith low conc and less frequent application with it without adding moisturizers :)

    Hi, doc! Just subscribed! Question po, what do you mean by "soap-free" cleansers? Are there ingredients we need to avoid sa cleanser? Also, what can you say po sa Dove beauty bar (sensitive variant) as a cleanser? Thanks, doc! 😊

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +3

      Anna Tagle hello! Thank you sa support!
      The easiest way to determine whether a cleanser is soap-free or not (other than checking the ingredients) is observing how it makes your skin feel after you wash.
      Soaps are very effective in removing oil and dirt, such that after you wash, they leave your skin feeling “squeaky clean”, tight and dry. The problem is, soaps cannot distinguish between oil/sebum and our skin’s natural lipids and when you use soaps to clean your face often, they may compromise our skin’s natural barrier protection making it more prone to irritation.
      Dove beauty bar is a syndet bar, it has a neutral pH and is OK to use on the face :)

    Hi doc! Thank you for sharing! Can i ask po? What retinoid based moisturizer can you recommend po to a 40 something woman like me? I have a dry and sensitive skin. That's why my skin isn't flawless and clear at all. I really want a glass skin (clear and supple skin) which make up won't be an option because for me a beautiful face is having beautiful skin. How can i achieve that in my age now? My other question is: Does gluta drip give me a glowing skin? Appreciate much! Thank you so much Doc. God bless!

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +1

      Red Velvet0429 hello! If you have dry and sensitive skin, the first thing we have to work on is moisturizing it and repairing your skin barrier para hindi ka na dry and sensitive.
      I recently uploaded a video explaining moisturizers you might want to watch it to get an idea which one is best for you.
      Sa retinoids naman, the most potent is the tretinoin, pero kung dry and sensitive skin ka, baka hindi mo ito matolerate. Pero once we’ve addressed and repaired your skin, you can start with milder forms of retinoids such as retinol and retinaldehyde and start with lower concentrations.
      It will also help to exfoliate your skin to encourage formation of newer, younger-looking skin, para na rin mapalitan ung dull, lackluster skin mo.
      Importante din to choose the right cleanser that is soap-free para lalong hindi magdry ang skin mo.

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +2

      Red Velvet0429 I dont think gluta drip will address your skin issues, it should be a combination of a good skin regimen, good nutrition and avoidance of skin stressors gaya ng excessive sun exposure or smoking :)

    Hi Doc! What can you recommend for oily skin

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  4 года назад +3

      Hello! For oily skin, I recommend still to use mild, soap-free cleansers, exfoliating once a week and applying sunscreen. Also use products that are designed for oily skin such as those that are gel-based or water-based. When it comes to make-up, look for products that are non-comedogenic. Avoid moisturizers that contain a lot of oils or those that area "heavy" as they may clog your pores and contribute to comedone (blackhead or whitehead) formation.
