Acne vulgaris is one of the most common reasons why individuals consult a dermatologist. Proper diagnosis as well as early and effective treatment are very important to prevent worsening of the condition and acne scars from forming.
Aside from topical ingredients, I also enumerate oral supplements that are proven safe and can be used to help treat and prevent mild to moderate acne from within.

Marami kasing may mild acne na hindi nagagawan ng tamang treatment. I hoped to be able to at least give recommendations of OTC treatments para may guide ung mga gusto munang magtry before going to a derma.

I was diagnosed with mild acne vulgaris. I'm a bit hesitant on using the isotret. I opt for the topicals and I might get the Lactoferrin, which is relatively cheaper. Note though, ISOTRETINOIN is still better than Lactoferrin and other so called supplements.
Isotretinoin is not something we give patients with mild acne :)

While I don't recommend doing dermaroller at home, it is meant to enhance product penetration so you determine what products you want to put after. Just be careful with those that are irritating like retinoids and acids

I dont give bioderm ointment for acne what I can recommend is a consultation so that your condition can be properly assessed and you can be given appropriate treatment :)

honestly, acne can be exacerbated by a “leaky gut” but u need to see a dermatologist for acne

different pathophysiology :) also, perioral dermatitis is confined to the area around the mouth whereas acne occurs in areas with sebaceous glands.
Doc i was prescribed azelaic cream 20%. I have moderate acne, what benefits azelaic can help my skin?
Azelaic can help with acne as well as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Although i personally only give it to those who cannot tolerate retinoids or to pregnant patients with acne.

Hi doc next topic po how to treat eczema sa fingers. Recommended lotion to moisturize the affected area.
Marami ang may hand eczema now because of frequent handwashing and use of sanitizers :( try to minimize washing and always apply barrier cream after washing. Soak your hands overnight in repair cream (zinc oxide or petroleum jelly). Pag hindi parin um-ok, i suggest u consult a dermatologist
hi doc is it safe to use 10% salicylic acid as spot treatment?
For home use and as a leave on treatment, I recommend lower concentration salicylic acid -- 1-2%. Unless otherwise recommended by your dermatologist after a proper consultation.

All products and ingredients serve a purpose. Conservative kc ako e, I only recommend products when I think the patient needs them or if I feel that the patient will benefit from using them. Azelaic acid is a good ingredient but it depends kung san mo gagamitin.
Hello Doc, ask ko lang po if na encounter n'yo na po ba 'yung mga products from DEOPROCE? Specifically, 'yung Argan Moisture Soap nila. Okay lang po ba s'ya gamitin sa oily and acne prone skin hehehe. Thanks po😅💓
To be bo honest now ko lng narinig yan hehe. But ako naman if you use it and hindi naman cya ung banat or dry ung mukha mo after washing, then it should be ok. Minsan kc when it comes to products, malalaman mo lng kung hiyang sayo after mo cya gamitin :) if it doesn’t work for your face, you can always repurpose it and use it on your body.

Doc, can I use tretinoin cream at night without moisturizer? I was only prescribed by my derma with cleanser, benzoyle and sunscreen in the morning and tretinoin at night
If your skin can tolerate it and is responding well, then that's ok :) If you feel you need a moisturizer i personally think it's ok but it would be best to ask your dermatologist about it since he/she knows your skin and issues.

I suggest mag consult ka na :) instead of trial and error para sure na gumaling na ung acne mo especially since you also have melasma :)

This is actually a good short topic for a video, but to answer your question it is not necessary but can be a good addition to your skincare routine and benefit you if the ingredients in the toner address skin concerns like dry skin or oily, acne-prone skin.

If benzoyl peroxide lng ang anti-acne mo u can use it twice a day and u can apply moisturizer after a few seconds pag na apply mo na evenly on your skin :)

@@joca8373 actually mahirap magbigay ng recommendations without properly assessing your skin :) it’s not just about the order of applying skincare products or when to apply them. I think what’s more important is determining which ingredients will adequately address you skin issues once we have identified them. My overbearing advice for someone experiencing skin issues is to always consult :)
Hi doc! im on tretinoin (0.05) and still on purging stage ( the acne that shows up develop and dries fast ) is what I can judge but its been 3 mos already. how long does the purging take? does it vary? but I have noticed my face feels smoother but still purging. another question, does doxycycline assist and help thru this stage?
3 months is not purging… that’s acne and if it isnt improving with topical creams then it means you need additional products to manage your acne. I suggest a proper consultation :)

Pwede naman, teranex has glycolic acid, i believe, which may help improve mild acne.

Yung predisposition to developing acne pwedeng namamana. If you have moderate to severe acne I recommend that you consult a dermatologist for timely and appropriate treatment :)

Hello po, Doc. I'm experiencing lip allergy po I've tried using organic lip balm po to my chapped/dry lips. Pero nagka-allergy lang po ako. Ano pong kailangan kong gawin?
First, discontinue using the product. Second, I recommend a consultation para ma-assess ka at mabigyan ng gamot to treat the allergy, if necessary :)
Doc the higher the concentration po ba the better? Balak ko po sana gumamit ng benzoyl peroxide (in wash form) para sa truncal acne ko pero di po ako makapagdecide kung 10%, 4% or 2.5%. Ano po kaya mas okay? Salamat.
I recommend to start with the lowest or middle if you're not too sensitive pwede naman the mid concentration :)

Dra, is it safe to treat acne using Clindamycin Solution with ethyl alcohol content in it? Hoping my question would be recognize and have an answer to it :) Thank you for the compact knowledge you shared.
Safe yes, but effectivity is a more important question.
Acne is multifactorial and will not go away with just using clindamycin :) I suggest a consultation with a dermatologist.
@@irenegaile Yes Dra, I did consult a derma and they prescribed me clindamycin solution as one of my acne treatment but I was just worried with the one that I bought as it has ethyl alcohol in its content which is in a toner form and as I observed my face occurs redness after using it so i stopped it and decided to use Clindamycin SOS from Mercury Drug. Hi po doc @Dr. Gaile Robredo-Vitas. Just wondering if Neocell Collagen with Biotin or yong formulation/ingredients nya can cause acne breakout? I took it for 2mos and ngka acne breakout ako. 1st week pa lng i noticed few pimples yet i continued for 2mos hoping na mawala pero dumami pa nang dumami. Prior to taking collagen, kung mgka pimple mn ako, pa minsan2x lng or isa isa lng. Right now, pa unti unti na sila ng subside when i stop using it.
From what I know about acne, collagen supplements and biotin are not considered causative factors. Although, of course, many things come into play, including supplements you are taking. So if you notice that they exacerbate or make ur acne lesions worse, it might be best to discontinue using them.

Doc, sa tingin nyo po ba effective na pampawala ng pimples yung Dr. S. Wong's Sulfur soap? Sana po masagot nyo.
Sulfur as an ingredient is a keratolytic, breaking down skin cells to prevent clogging, as well as an antimicrobial. Beneficial cya in individuals with mild acne, especially when combined with other ingredients such as salicylic acid.
In soap formulation, it depends. In my opinion, as long as it is not too drying or irritating on the skin, pwede naman. You may also use a moisturizer after to restore your skin barrier or the lipids na maaring natanggal after washing with soap.

Yes, pwede naman. The only way you will really know kung ok cya sayo or hindi is by trying it. If not go for lightweight, water- or gel-based variants. Or pwede din those containing ingredients good for oily skin - check out my video on this if you have time :)

gumagamit po ako ng klenzit FW na may (1.5% salicylic acid) every night ko lang po ginagamit pero minsan ginagamit ng umaga kapag feeling ko napaka oily ng mukha ko. pwede po ba akong mag purge 'non? nung po kasing ginamit ko siya 3 weeks ago dumadami lalo yung pimples ko at hanggang ngayon pero hindi naman po naiirritate yung mukha ko. then pansin ko po na parang yung mga blackheads ko nagiging pimples sila namumula po bigla then magnanana na paramg may black dot sa gitna. at ano pong mas prefer na gamitin ito night or morning? :)
Any keratolytic or exfoluating ingredient may cause purging, in your case i would recommend doing a proper consultation.

Hi Leizel! To be fair to your derma since you are already consulting, it would be best to ask her, kc she was able to assess your skin and give recommendations.
In general though, adapalene is a treatment for acne and in my opinion, can be used with niacinamide. Yung ibang concerns mo, pls address them to her :)

@@liezelflores5627 Any ingredient that is either a keratolytic (eg. retinoid) or an exfoliant (AHA, Salicylic acid) may cause purging. I believe klenzit wash has SA.

It’s not part of the first line recommendation for acne treatment. Some give it to support anti-acne treatment pero usually not as monotherapy :)
Hello Doc, I already consulted a board certified derma and she prescribed doxycycline for my dermatitis and acne. Nagppurge po ako for 14days lang po sya pero inextend po ng another 14 days. Nabbother lang po ako pag magppurge and nag ddarkspot po ako ng malala

Purging can happen when you incorporate products that contain keratolytics, those that regulate skin turnover and exfoliants. If you are experiencing an increase in amount of your lesions, talk to your derma about it and ask for possible options to control ung breakout mo :)
The more inflamed lesions you get the higher tha chances of scarring.

One more thing Doc, she advised me to use Cetaphil cleanser, I also bought the moisturizer one. Does it really works or do the job?
@@harrymarcial3705 the cleanser is ok, the moisturizer can help your skin barrier kc sabi mo may dermatitis ka. But for acne kc, for me, kulang ung antibiotics lng. But then again, i didnt see you kc so best to ask your derm about it :)

For comedones (blackheads/whiteheads) benzoyl peroxide 5% 1-2x a day pwede. OTC yan :)

I am planning to use Nivea micellar cleanser, Doctor Wong's sulfur soap, bioderm ointment, aloe vera gel moisturizer, ordinary serum, and I haven't firgured out what sunscreen to use hehe pero yung mga namention ko, are they okay to use po? I wouldnt recommend using them without proper guidance from a dermatologist and without proper skin assessment. marami kc cyang pwedeng side effects.

Hi doc, simula nong nag pandemic super nag breakout talaga ako, and Im now using the ordinary retinol 0.5% in squalene product. Safe po ba eto? I dont see any improvement 😭 it stressing me out. Sana mapansin po. Thank you
Retinol is not really an anti-acne retinoid, it can help but there are other retinoids that work much better for acne. I suggest a consultation :)

I was prescribed with a niacinamide cream, 5% bpo gel (to be applied only on active lesions so I assume spot treatment siguro siya), and 0.05% tret cream. I forgot to ask my derm during consultation pero what do you think is the percentage of niacinamide should be po? Oily, ance-prone po.

Hello! to be fair I have never tried a rejuvenating set myself, nakikita ko lng cya being sold online. For me it depends on what these sets contain. Skincare kc is very personal, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Try ko bumili ng rejuvenating sets tapos pag aralan ko kung ano mga laman :)

Skincare is very personal. Kung ano ung ok sa friend mo, it doesnt mean magiging ok dn sayo. Also ung pagpupuyat doesnt directly cause acne but in those na may acne pwede cya maka lala because ung pagpupuyat can increase your hormones which can influence your oil glands and can make existing acne worse. Pero hindi lahat ng nagpupuyat nagkaka-acne

my derm prescribed me tretinoin and benzoyl peroxide for my acne but I have red some articles na bawal daw sila pagsabayin sa skin care routine, although my derm instructed me to use BP in the morning and tretinoin in the evening, di ko pa sya ginamit because nag aalangan ako. What can you say about this doc?
That’s right, you cannot use them together (as in at the same time), kaya BPO in the morning and then tretinoin in the evening :)
Bpo kc deactivates tretinoin, so pag ginamit mo ng sabay, sayang lng :)

Unlikely. Purging happens when u use retinoids, exfoliants or anything that speeds up skin turnover.
