    Please don't quit RUclips! I personally like to watch "real people" with real issues but have something positive to bring to others. Please don't worry about the negative people, just be your lovely self. I believe you have a mission by God and a purpose. Why don't you make videos on subjects you enjoy or want to learn? Actually women of similar age (me included) will likely relate and enjoy what you enjoy.

    We have been bombarded with messages of perfection, curated and well-edited lives, constant sponsorship on RUclips. I don't judge these creators. They can do as they wish with their lives. But, for us, as viewers, if we value our sanity & health, we must carefully discern what is true and what is false.
    For the sake of my health, I'd rather watch someone do life in a realistic, authentic way, than someone being completely perfect.
    If they have 3 or more kids at home and their house is perfect, I don't watch.
    If they do their gardening in a $200+ dress, I don't watch.
    If their hair + makeup is perfect every day, while doing home tasks, I don't watch.
    If breakfast, lunch, and supper all look like they came from a fancy restaurant, I don't watch.
    Yes, we should strive to be better. Yay! for influencers that encourage this. But, there's sanity it getting sweaty while pulling weeds; having a PB&J sandwich for lunch; and wearing your old sweatpants to clean the shower.
    Stay real!♥️🇨🇦

Perfection isn't on the dance card. I'll be happy with adequate outcomes. I want to mix in some vido of fun times, and relaxing activities, too. We'll see how it goes! See you!

    I just turned 60. Found out last year I have ADHD (which explains a lot about my life) and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1997. I understand the physical energy limitations (and paying for it physically when you overextend). I love your channel because I can relate to you so well. Don't stop being you. And by the way, I love your T-shirt! Thanks for being a virtual friend!

      Fibro is really "something," isn't it? While I wish I hadn't gotten it, it is probably doing me some good because I am so much more appreciative of the times I'm able to do things. I didn't understand what a gift it was to get up most days and to do pretty much whatever I wanted to. Thanks for being my friend!

    I’ve been binge watching your videos for about a week. I started with a most recent one and backtracked to the ones from a year ago. I have made many comments along the way. Now, today, I find out that on top of everything else, you have fibromyalgia! I, too, have suffered from it since 1989 but was not diagnosed until 1999. It changed everything in my life. Sometimes people just think you are lazy when you aren’t working as hard as they are or as hard as you used to. My hubby & I have had long covid(his is going on 1 1/2 yrs). We are both diabetic. He fell also in the backyard & got a concussion. We identify closely with you ❤️. It’s a wonder that any of us get anything done at all❣️I have simplified our home and our routines and it has had a great calming & peaceful effect.
    Gentle massage and ice gel packs helps the trigger points & lumps, hot showers before bed help me sleep, nothing seems to help the fibro fog when it strikes and I can sometimes only work ten minutes at a time then I have to rest. My hubby helps when he can but he is weak and also has mild cognitive impairment so some days not much gets done. We are 78 and retired. Love, love, love your channel. So relatable.

    • @TowardsASimpleLife
      @TowardsASimpleLife  26 дней назад

      Wow. We got it the same year. What are the odds? Fibro really changes things. Life really isn’t the same once you get it. From then on, it’s all been about how do I try to live with it the best I can. So sorry that you guys are going through so much!

    I just recently discovered your channel after getting fed up with the minimalist ideas that seemed to be down on wanting to save 3 red t shirts or having more than a set of towels for each person. I like my stuff and while I'm willing and able to donate some of it I have regrets about some of them. Relationship building is usually gets a big push from those types, but I'm perfectly content with a small circle of friends or being home. The point I want to be in is to feel comfortable in my own house and be able to enjoy the things easily that are meaningful to me. Not have them be a burden to myself or anyone else. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and thoughts. God bless you.

    I live a simple life & highly recommend it :) I'm a "cozy minimalist". Nothing stark. Here's something you can do that is simple & costs nothing. The shelves in your office are nearly empty. Gather ALL your books & put them on these shelves. ALL BOOKS IN ONE SPOT. When you go to read a book, choose from here. Don't buy another book until all of these are read! One job done!

    • @TowardsASimpleLife
      @TowardsASimpleLife  3 месяца назад +1

      Cozy minimalist! That’s new to me. I like the sound of it better than the stark minimalism I keep running into. I don’t know if you’ve seen my living room. It is sort of a library and has some tall book shelves which are full. I love how that room looks and feels. The only problem is that the furniture isn’t comfortable and conducive to reading. Our gardening and yardwork books are in the family room. I do have some books in the office bookshelf that was on the side of the room you couldn’t see - mostly photo albums, which I need to go through. The shelves you could see behind me are pretty empty because I just barely got possession of the room again and haven’t done anything except drop a few things off. I need to do the refit of the shelves before I start loading them up. With all of the books I have, I’ve read most of them! 😀 Medical-type books are the hardest for me to stick with and read. (Boring.) My current reading spot is my bedroom, which I showed you, but I don’t have any book storage in it, so I do my best. (I didn’t wanted to get any shelves for the bedroom because I knew that I would eventually get my office back.) I’m hoping that if I can get my office set up better with a cozy, comfortable chair, I can do reading there and will be able to implement your suggestion. (Although there will always be new books. Books and I go way back to when I taught myself to read at age 2. They saved my childhood during some of my rough years!)

    I’m happy to have just found your channel. We seem to have much in common. Fibromyalgia diagnosis since the ‘80’s and boy do I understand putting a day of work into a chore, or a project- and paying for it for a day or days after. As well as some other core values that are obvious to me, follower of Christ, and so on. I’m in need of slowing down in a way that’s best for me. And I have so much to sort through. I have a bit of a museum here 👀. I’m not interested in being a minimalist but what I do have is interfering in my ability to function without stress. I have my work cut out for me! I’m watching your video as I’m typing here. More and more in common. Notebooks, acid reflux, don’t want pressure, just be me. Oh, be careful going down those stairs💞

I changed my channel at the very end of December to talk about the things I'm doing to deal with it and to live a better life. I'm studying and sharing and trying to be real about my experience. I can't wait for you to see Friday's video. I teach a technique a Cognitive Therapist taught me about how to manage my energy and tell when it's time to stop doing things and rest to avoid having large crashes. I hope you watch it and tell me what you think!

    First video of yours I've seen. I agree; decluttering one's space has to be at one's pace/ability and end goal is what is personally best for someone. Objectives differ. Not all of us want to spend $1000s on perfect containers that we have to manage, nor live in a room so void of belongings that it looks like someone moved out or has no life in it because there is absolutely zero decor. Best in your journey everyone....

    • @TowardsASimpleLife
      @TowardsASimpleLife  3 месяца назад +1

      So nice to meet you! It sounds like we have a lot in common. I appreciate hearing from you so much! The decor thing has turned out to be a bigger deal for me than I realized. I started leaving rooms far more bare than I used to after I started with the decluttering videos. It was kind of good for me to take a breather and feel some emptiness, but I've started putting more out again. I'm adding less than I used to, but this whole "spare" experience has taught me that I do need some decor to feel like I'm living in my own home. It's kind of a relief to learn it.

      Yes, I know about her. I used to watch her channel back in the day when they were remodeling their trailers and working on their home. Her husband was on the channel with her quite a bit. She seems like a very nice person.
      My problem with the box idea is that I have too much stuff to fit in a box. 😂 But seriously, I am finding that it is better for me to slow down and that it’s okay if I come back around and around and declutter the same spot a number of times. I’m not in a race. 🥹

I hate when people ask me about what I do now which has driven me inward so I don't leave home. How do you handle that?

    • @TowardsASimpleLife
      @TowardsASimpleLife  15 часов назад +1

      I’ve been thinking about your question all day long. What DO I do?
      I realized that a couple of things that have helped me is to have some easy responses all ready, such as “oh, this and that. I enjoy doing whatever I can when I feel up to it,” or “I’m enjoying taking care of myself these days. It’s about time I do!” or “I’m learning that I enjoy being at home more every day.”
      In other words, don’t let people push you into feeling guilty about taking care of yourself. Say something non-committal. They really won’t push you past that.
      Watch the tendency to mind-read and assume they are being critical of you when really, most people don’t think about other people that much. They are too busy worrying about themselves. If they are critical, that’s about them not you.
      You can’t pretend to be anything other than you are or to live a life that you don’t have. The longer my situation goes on, the more I realize that the best thing for me is to simply enjoy the life I have and to be grateful for whatever I can do. The Dots method has helped me so much because it has caused me to be more realistic with myself.
      I also have spent a lot of time getting closer to God and to understand that He made me as I am, He knows what is happening to me, and He is supporting me. He wants me to love myself and to be more assured that whatever I can do - no matter how small it is - is worthwhile. It’s okay when I slow down because I need to. There’s no shame in it. Anyone that thinks someone with an illness is lazy and that they should be doing more is just uninformed.
      My mom used to be critical of others in these situations, but by watching me trying to manage my health and my life with my conditions taught her a lot. She became more compassionate over the 12 years she lived here. People that don’t get it just haven’t lived it and are innocent enough that they assume they will never personally face it (or that they would be different if they did).
      Be kind to yourself if anyone asks you what you are doing now!

    I just found your channel! I love that you are real about decluttering. I have also gotten rid of things I wish I didn’t. I’m also growing out my hair and its about the same length as your now and it’s driving me crazy! Keep going!

      Wow. We have quite a few things in common! We’ll have to cheer each other on as we grow out our hair because it can be hard to get through these stages. I had to get out some photos of me with longer hair to remind myself that yes, longer hair does work on me. It looks so crazy right now. Yeah, I have that same issue of overdoing it when I feel good. But at that time, I feel good and part of me wants to think I’ll stay feeling good! I’ve really been working the idea of trying to figure out when I need to stop each day so I can minimize the crashes. I did pretty good with the laundry room because I spaced the work out over six days. I knew I’d have to take it easy for a while (and did). But just when I was starting to move again, I fell down the stairs. So strange!! Take care. It was great to talk to you!

    I am so glad you are recovering! I look so forward to your videos that I knew something was wrong. I love that you care enough to share your thoughts and wisdom, because there is a real need for it. I love that you keep it real, and especially for pointing out that what works for you is due to your individual circumstances and preferences. I have watched many decluttering videos because I reached the point that I have too much to organize in my home. I take from the videos what I need and leave the rest.
    All of us are unique, with our own priorities, beliefs, physical and psychological makeup. While I admire you and the others I follow on RUclips, I don't have the same relationship to my possessions, time and space that you do. It is unfair for me to criticize others just because I don't see things the same way. Unfortunately, some people don't care if it is fair, they just spew criticism everywhere, and that is true of all social media.
    On a personal note, I love your hair and your t-shirt. I am 61 and I love wearing t-shirts, especially ones that are cute like yours.
    With your family and health situations, I understand that you don't need the extra pressure of being a content creator. I hope you keep doing the videos as long as it makes you happy. I treasure your wisdom, and I am glad that God has given you a way to minister to people all over the world.

      Hi Kim! I love that you're getting to know me well enough to know when something is up. It's nice. Sometimes, I tell myself that nobody will even notice if I don't post, so it's encouraging to know that you enjoy them so much. You're going to see me in more T-shirts now that it's getting warmer. I love to wear sweatshirts with things on the front of them when it's cool, but I'd started to tell myself that I needed to look more professional. (Oh ha! Who am I kidding?) I can't WAIT for my hair to get longer, but it is kind of interesting to see what happens with it from day to day.
      I enjoy making YT videos - if I'm making the kind that feel fun to me. I guess I'm just not supposed to do those "professional" videos because they are grueling AND I end up feeling like I'm suffering to make one. I really like the idea of just going ahead with being myself more -warts and all - because that way I'll not only have more fun, I'll make real friends. Thanks for being one to me!

      Hi! I'm so happy to meet you! Yes, you should pick it up your channel again if you want. My best advice is to just start making videos that feel meaningful to you then launch them into the world with the thought, "whatever happens, happens. It's out of my hands." Immediately start working on the next one and have fun. Just try to get a tiny bit better each time, but don't stress about it. It's helpful if you imagine what kind of video you can make that you enjoy and that you can imagine someone else will find useful too. While I'm a grandma, two of my grandkids live with us and the 6-year old is constantly following me around. Little ones are fun, but do increase the workload. Ha!

    Hi sweetheart, first, you look GREAT!! Your hair is, as Oprah used to say, "all bouncin' and behavin'"! VERY cute indeed. I remember going thru the "growing my hair" phase a time or ten - honestly, each day things can go either way! 🫣😜
    Yeah, I'm not decluttering right either. And I'm absolutely NOT packing for a cross-country move correctly. Six weeks from this morning I'll be driving one of two U- Hauls towards the Midwest. It's gotten to the point where I'm making a lot of decisions very quickly and not looking back, at least as far as getting rid of stuff goes (either donating, selling, or trashing). I'm just SO TIRED already! I can tell you, however, that the things I AM taking are in good repair - clothes are neatly folded, chachkies (sp) are unbroken, dusted, and carefully wrapped, and furniture is (for instance) painted it's new color for the room it will be occupying. Rozanne, I've had a birthday since we last spoke and I'm getting too old for this stuff!! I slipped today and caught myself with my greasy hand on the newly painted wall outside, but at least I didn't go all the way down! We've both gotta knock that stuff off!!
    Hugs, my friend, and let's trade - prayers for prayers - me for you and you for me, deal?? Hugs, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗

Ha! Prayers and prayers for you!

      This stage is rough. I look at myself and my hair looks like something you'd see in an old TV show on some woman they want to portray as plain or dumpy - like the city librarian or the neighborhood old maid. Nothing cute going on here except the color. I looked some older pictures with my longer hair to give me courage. Once it gets to a certain length, it looks good on me. Now, I just have to stand going from here to there! Gary is cheering me on because he liked me longer hair.

    Mine has to be low for peace and my brain to work. We all have to figure that out for ourselves.

      Hello my friend! So glad to hear from you! RUclips will automatically translate the captions for you, but you have to make a little change to see the Turkish translation. 1. Make sure the closed captions (CC) option is is selected. This will below the video if you are on a computer or above the video if you are on a phone. 2. Click on the gear icon and choose "subtitles/CC". 3. Change the selection to "auto-translate". A list of languages will appear. Scroll down and select Turkish. I just tried this myself and was able to get the Turkish subtitles to come up. It worked for me on both my laptop and my phone. You can do this on all of my videos and see the Turkish translations. You may have to make this selection on each video, but it's pretty easy to do once you learn the steps!
      ---

    Hi Rozanne,
    I'm quite new to your channel and I enjoy it a lot. It's yours to do what you like with!
    I draw a lot of inspiration and motivation from you and your thoughtful way of expressing yourself. I'm sure there will be times, as happens in life, that I might see things differently or have different preferences to you. And hopefully that is fine!
    I too have fibromyalgia and slowing down my life is an ongoing process. It's lovely to hear your reflections and see your approach.
    I'm in a different part of the world and my home and storage spaces are much smaller than yours. And here it is not common to keep so many back up items as we are not far from shops and tend not to have shortages. I enjoy seeing the differences (like in your laundry room video). I'm somewhat minimalist but still I have plenty to declutter - slowly!
    If making videos feels burdensome, that might defeat the purpose? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding that.
    Some of my favourite videos are very simple and unedited - with nice slow transitions that make me feel I am right there with the person.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Oh - and I love your t shirt and cardigan!
