    I love Flo's charging reliability here in Canada. You know it will work. If there is something they can improve on it's that every Flo charger I've come across is only 50kW, and often a single or double unit only. I'd love to see some of those faster chargers in this video actually get in the ground because their reliability mixed with faster charging would make them my go to for sure. Please Flo, get some of those faster chargers in the GTA!

    Flo is always my first choice, I use them for 90% of my dc fast charging, reliability is not even on the same page as the rest of the industry, when you get there you know it will work every time. In the greater Toronto area. The only issue is that some sites only have 1 charger so there may be a line or when planning a trip there is the chance there will be a line vs. Sites with multiple chargers. Glad to see more powerful units coming out. Most of what we see is 50kw with the occasional 100kw unit.

      @@BremboT I have seen two, both at Nissan dealers. With our Leaf Plus we hit 75kW on one of them. They did charge us for the RFID cards. I wasn't terribly pleased about that but I didn't realize at the time we could have used our Chargepoint card which was free.

    I do occasionally charge at a Flo DCFC in locations around Vermont. I use the Chargepoint RFID to activate the charge, making it as smooth as a credit card payment without need for a credit card reader. I've found Flo charging to be very reliable.

    I live in Northern BC and been driving a Mache for 3 years. I level 1 charge at home 98% of the time. On road trips the vast majority of DCFC available are Flo (either branded Flo or our local Utility provider that uses rebranded Flo chargers). I have never had a bad experience with a Flo charger they just work. I saw pics of one with the cables cut off on plugshare but it was fixed by the time I needed it a couple weeks later on a trip to Jasper. Unfortunately at least in northern BC they are all 50 KW so takes a little longer than it could to charge. Main point is they work :).

    Could you do a podcast about what charging companies are planning to do about security cameras and ways to orotect their chargers from the recent rise in vandalism and cable cutting?
    Im really curious to see if this is even on many charging conpanies radar yet sbd what plans they have already implemented or have in the works.

    Should have mentioned, I am still waiting for my NACs adapter so I can try the Tesla stations although the pricing is steep, BC Hydro 34 cents a KW and Tesla 68 cents per KW (at least in northern BC) Will probably only use the adapter in southern BC where Tesla prices are much more reasonable. Still no protection to prevent cables from being cut.

    • @phillyphil1513
      @phillyphil1513 28 дней назад

      that "protection" is Wireless Charging. as the fanboys say "the best part is no part" or in this case "the best cable is no cable".

    • @vulpixelful
      @vulpixelful 25 дней назад

      Probably because those 50kw cables are so thin. Surprising to know they don't use copper in them, but thieves won't "learn" that, because they'll always go for a cord that's easy to cut on the off chance that there _will_ be copper in them. Even if there never is.

  • @jdlutz1965
    @jdlutz1965 Месяц назад

    The biggest issue I've encountered with public charging is often the networked communications, particularly in poor cellular coverage. My hope is Flo and other charging providers think about means to avoid the complications that come when these communication systems are limited or not available, giving the customer more reliable service with perhaps "dumb" systems that are still able to keep account of operations and payments.

    At 33:25 the Flo guy speaks about getting an industrial grade plug, which is a great suggestion, but he makes the comment that it’s because you have a higher voltage going through there. That is a bit nonsensical. The voltage will be 240 V AC no matter what. it’s the amperage that would be different depending on how you configure the charger which hopefully is at 80% of the breaker and wire rating.

      ironically the copper content is meaningless when the point is VANDALISM. many like thinking the cords are being cut for their value because it makes them "feel better" (psychologically) rather than acknowledging the hard reality that there's a whole group of people that simply DON'T LIKE THEM OR THEIR BEV.
