    I always liked the fact these shorts take place in the Nolanverse. Like it shows us just how many things really happened before and between the films. It’s just adds so much to the world that they really didn’t have to do, they could have said that these shorts took place in another universe but they didn’t. I also like the Electromagnetic Batsuit, makes me wonder how advanced tech in the Nolanverse truly is compared to other versions of Batman

    I never understood the ending of Working Through Pain until recently:
    Criminals typically dump their guns only after they’ve been used in a crime, likely murder. So Batman’s digging up dozens of crimes-murders-he failed to stop. It’s the emotional pain he never recovered from.

  • @TheBatman39
    @TheBatman39 4 месяца назад +25

    I watched this movie for the first time 2 months after i watched The Dark Knight on theaters. As a huge Nolan Batman fan, i consider this movie to be fully canon; it adds a considerable amount of lore to the Nolanverse, and it's just a fantastic release on it's own with stunning visuals and great Batman stories that explore the character in distinct ways, but it was also produced and written by Emma Thomas and David S. Goyer, which imo, certifies that this is canon in the trilogy, as they both worked respectively as the producer and scriptwriter for the three films.
    But regarding the timeline, the time period between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight was 5 years, not just one; this was clarified by an official lorebook that was supervised by Nolan and the rest of the production team that worked on the trilogy, that was released on 2012 during The Dark Knight Rises release called "The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles & Documents from the Batcave" along with another official book called "The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy", but in the Mannual we have more lore like specific birth and death dates from characters (Rachel and Harvey died in 2004), but there is a note written by Bruce Wayne where it says that after spending 5 years as Batman his Nomex armor took too many blows, and he decided to update with the more flexible and lightweight suit he used in The Dark Knight.
    This fact was even mentioned by Christopher Nolan on several interviews and guidebooks, where he stated that his version of Bruce Wayne would spent 5 years or so as Batman cleaning up Gotham as some sort of estimated plan of his, to then retire and maybe try to live a normal life. Meanwhile, the Gotham Tonight videos were made as a marketing material by Warner Bros based on a general idea of the film's script and may not have been directly supervised by Nolan. Besides that, the Joker's dialogue was not explicitly referring to Batman's first appearance, but rather, when his actions started to have a direct impact on the mob's sense of impunity, because tbh it wouldn't be too believable, if in just one year the lawyers and the police would turn on the mob right when Batman showed up, since in Batman Begins the city was such a hellhole that no one noticed that Crane was drugging Falcone and there were crooked cops that dared to kill the D.A, and no one cared to search for him except Rachel as she said she would have to search him in the bottom of the river.
    Based on that long info and according to the Manual's several dates, newspapers, GCPD plates and overall lore; it was established that Batman Begins was set on 1999, The Dark Knight on 2004, and The Dark Knight Rises on 2012; while Batman Gotham Knight could be placed in the time period between the year 2000 and 2003 when Batman progressively cleaned the city until the mob got cornered.
    There is a huge amount of info and details about the trilogy's timeline; and it would be cool if one day you could check the guidebooks i mentioned and make a video about it.
    Edit: Sorry for this essay-length of a comment, I just wanted to elaborate on this interesting topic that almost no one knows. Like any other guy who has watched the movies, i used to believe for years that Bale's Bruce was Batman for only a year, instead of 5 years or so as Nolan and Goyer intended to.

      @@TheBatman39 Great point. I hadn't taken that into account. I suppose the Dark Knight news reports can still be canon if we ignore the references to the year being 2008 and the nine month time jump statement.

      @Bran-x8q 4 месяца назад +4

      I always figured that only a year between Begins and Dark Knight was a stretch, and in my own personal headcanon, the time gap was more like 3+ years. Glad to see that other source material confirms this!

    i heard producers of this said it not technically canon but it inspired by the element of Nolan verse is those type of thing it could be canon if you wanted to be
    Honestly i always look at it as it own thing since i was kid
    For example in part work through pain bruce learn how to deal with physical pain and we see when he fight those thug's he expert martial artist but in Nolan movie it said that before league he just basically street fighter level guy but he goes train with league then after fire and explosion he save ra's and come back to Gotham nothing else but in animation he was helping doctor in some country that was under war in begins he always was living like criminals to know them better
    My point is if you wanted it could be canon but technically it just like Spiderman the new animated series it was supposed to be part of raimi verse but then it become it own thing after cancellations and second movie came out because kurt conner die in animation but his alive in spider man 3
