That same claim was made by writer Greg Pak, the lead writer of Batman/Superman: one of the few writers who understood both characters and could write good things out of the New 52. Pak had a very good reputation in the community and his success came from the fact he considered the New 52 an actual starting point; he was writing something from the ground up to the established status quo and managed to make the New 52 characters actually develop and get better as heroes. Pak was a guy who could make the Nu52 Superman and Batman complex characters that both adhered to the old status quo and stood on their own. In contrast, Snyder and Goyer just thought "Different version = We can do whatever the hell we want". This is why we have an utterly depressed Superman who originally planned to join freaking Darkseid in destroying Earth, so Batgod could steal Lois Lane away and had to save the day. It's a complete rip on both characters and destroys everything they're supposed to represent. The DCEU doesn't fail because it "ain't your grandpa's Superman', it's because it was stupidly dark, uninspiring, and soulless. The viewers also aren't idiots; they can see that the entire universe has been nothing more than Snyder and Goyer's multimillion-dollar pet project pushing their fan fiction into mainstream, and people aren't happy about that abuse of power and money.

We need to stop giving Superman to directors who hate Superman. Superman isn’t dark. The story can be dark and gritty, but Superman’s character CANNOT, under any circumstances, be dark and gritty. Superman is joyous, cheerful, and compassionate. Even in that “all or nothing” scene with General Zod Superman would’ve found a way to neutralize Zod without killing him. Because that’s who Superman is. This is the reason why Tyler Hoechlin is my favorite version of Superman, because despite all the difficulties and darkness, Superman remains cheerful and compassionate. Sad thing is, Henry Cavill would make the PERFECT proper Superman. Just look at him in interviews. He’s more Superman in real life than he is in Snyder’s films. EDIT: those who're here with the "oh clean and pure Superman is unrealistic and cannot be written in live action!!" go watch the CW show. Get off the Henry Cavill high and give Superman and Lois a shot. It has dark and gritty stories throughout the seasons, but Superman himself is never dark or broody. Leave the brooding to Batman.
What you don't understand Man of Steel was not portraying a Superman. It was meant as a trilogy where Clark Kent/Kal El becomes a Superman in second or third movie. There is a reason why this film is not called Superman. But between Man of Steel and Man of Steel 2 (which never happened) Warner Bros realized that they need a shared universe, now! So Snyder got a task to created a shared universe with based on a movie that was planed as stand alone trilogy about some Alien becoming Superman. So not in Man of Steel, not in BvS and maybe not in ZSJL (with possible exception for the last scene) we see Superman. We just see an alien in Superman costume, who is on his journey to become Superman (or at least was before Warned Bros decided to trow at him shared universe).
@@Hadar1991 That's nonsense. Superman is supposed to be the way he is because he was raised by loving parents who instilled him with those values. I have always said, Snyder accidentally created INJUSTICE Superman. The only acceptable ending to DCEU would have been the real Superman coming from the real earth and defeating this evil snyder superman
What people don't understand is that there is no Superman in DCEU. Snyder meant to create trilogy of Man of Steel films, where an alien in a suit with superpowers realizes what does it mean to be a Superman. So Henry Cavill is playing NotSupermanYet. And between MoS and MoS2 the studio realized they want to have shared universe like Marvel and told Snyder to created one based on the first Man of Steel. So he was stuck with a hero who does not yet understand what to mean to be Superman, so he decided it to contracts it with a Batman who is not Batman anymore. But this went over most people head, that BvS is NotSupermanYet vs NotBatmanAnymore and he wanted to both to realize what it means to Superman (for the first time) and Batman (again).
@@Hadar1991I don't like the idea of "Superman is too alien to be Superman yet" because he's literally raised as a human by human parents amongst human peers and with human values. He could feel like an outsider, sure, but more in the sense of someone with an immigrant background. The way he behaves in the MoS film is just so bizarrely disconnected from his actual human past, as if he hasn't been living on the Planet Earth from age
Snyder should've just created Injustice Superman instead. His Superman would've worked much better there since that is clearly the kind of Superman he was going for anyway. The Superman we got felt out of place because he was meant for a darker world.

Doomsday Clock had a lot of neat ideas in it, wish it came out on a better schedule, but one of the messages I take from it is your point exactly. Superman being as grim as Batman, lacking that Hope and Compassion at a deep enough level, leaves the DC Universe a hollow place.

What goes over most people head is that there is no Superman in DCEU. Snyder is criticized for over-exposition and don't trusting that viewers will understand the message, but still, the main motif of the franchise, goes over so many heads. That alien in Superman suit, is not Superman yet, he is on his journey to understand what means to be Superman (which was meant to realize in Man of Steel 3, before WB told Snyder to create a multiverse after he shot the first Man of Steel). On the other hand, that man in Batman suit is not Batman anymore. He once was Batman, but after 2 decades of fighting monsters he became a monster himself and is lacking his humanity, he lack all the attributes that made him Batman in the past. Not he is just vengeful monster-fighting monster, who once was Batman.
I just don't trust live action heroes anymore. Almost every animated film or cartoon does it better. The MCU had the magic formula for a while, but quickly stopped taking themselves seriously and started cutting corners for profit, rushing their employees to make everything feel the same with shallow "meta" humour instead of developing and highlighting the different feel of each hero and their unique teams. I just want my heroes to be heroic and stand, unironically and honestly, in the face of dire circumstances and actually inspire us by the end. Superman is supposed to be no.1 at that. Inspiring hope in others is basically his whole thing!
@@suikim9194I think the thing that draws people into cavill isn’t his acting skill, it’s his love of the characters he plays. He’s a super nerd, and is typically the most vocal person on set for staying true to source material no matter what role he’s in. This is seen especially with the Witcher show
This is how I would’ve written some of Man of Steel’s scenes. Instead of Clark’s dad shaming him for revealing his powers to save those kids it should’ve been Clark shaming himself and it’s his dad who says “what were you supposed to do? Just let them die?”. In his battle with Zod we should’ve seen Clark try to save people while also fighting him off. Then, Zod does the laser beam thing, but this time he’s torching the whole city and Clark tries everything in his power to move him or block his vision, but nothing works. So, his only option is to snap his neck and after that we see how torn up about it he is.
Yeah, it would have worked if we saw him trying to get Zod out of the city, but Zod wanted to cause as much destruction as possible to punish Superman.
Both of the ideas that you have are so much better than what he got in the real movie. I especially like the first one, because not only does it make Clark's father actually sound caring and even encouraging, but it sets up Clark's hero arc and gives him an actual reason to want to keep saving others. His one true motivation as Superman is a question that he asks himself based on that one alternative line you suggested for his father. "Are you going to just let them d!e?"
@@eliesh3833 EXACTLY!😃 Thank you. That’s what I’m talking about. It's crazy how just changing 2 things would have made the movie so much better. It still wouldn't have been great (imo), but this would have fixed Clark's character arc for sure.
My biggest problem with Man of Steel is that i dont think theres a single scene where young Clark is smiling or happy. If you want to deconstruct the Superman character, fine, but this is supposed to be the definitive 21st century blockbuster take on the character, and he's constantly getting bullied, told that people will fear him, and that he should hold back on saving lives. I'm sorry, this sounds like an origin for Brightburn or Homelander, not *THE DC superhero.*

I honestly feel when it comes to the Snyder cultists... they're not fans. To me, their insistence that WB continues this universe or that Snyder should keep working on it is to basically want the man to suffer. Snyder has made it clear how much of a tiring, stressful experience it was working on the DC movies and for WB just in general, the same company who prior to Matt Reeves being hired for The Batman apparently in one attempt to nab him for the director role had a meeting with executives end in a shouting match. The same company who told Joss Whedon he had only a few months to reshoot JL and would not give him more time since they wanted that holiday release and that would interfere with monetary bonuses. Honestly, who in the FUCK would ever want to work under those conditions? If they were fans of Snyder as in actual fans of the man? I'd think they'd want to support Snyder in his other projects, encourage him to do what will make him happy and be fulfilling. I didn't like Rebel Moon but honestly I could tell from watching it he was in a MUCH better place seemingly working on it and Army of the Dead. With ZSJL? I really got the feeling he was happy to get his vision out there and payday and was glad to know as soon as this was over, he'd never have to work for that company ever again. And for those who are fans or insist this universe is dark and mature? Without knocking those who do genuinely love the movies, this kind of thinking reeks of insecurity. It's like the reaction to that Adi Shankar "Power/Rangers" thing which was made as a parody of dark reboots by a non-fan and yet it was viewed by people who weren't PR fans as being what the franchise should do or people reverting to how they are in high school because someone called what they liked just childish nonsense and so they want to stick it to those guys with these movies so they can point to them and go "You see?! They are dark and mature. I was right!".
The ironic part is that by trying so hard to be "mature" the Snyderverse comes across as the exact opposite. It's the kind of shit that an angry teenager would write about and claim is the most hardcore thing to ever happen actually bro!! It exudes CoD lobby energy and smells of Mtn Dew.
I honestly think it’s more them caring about the art more than the artist. Yes Snyder’s fans ignore this and constantly act like they are enemies and that TSS was bad despite the fact that Snyder and Gunn get along and Snyder likes the movie they love to crap in

While I don't think Superman would actually be evil if the events of injustice happened to him it's not wrong to make him evil as the point of an Elseworld story is to give twists on our classic characters for good or bad.
Thank you for saying what everyone is thinking, it baffles me how people enjoyed that. As a batman enjoyer, his portrayal is just so "I'm 14 and edgy vibe"
Agree! There’s no difference between the characters of Superman (clean-cut boy scout) and Batman (no-kill, brooding badass with a heart of gold). Snyder managed to make them both indistinguishably grey, bland and unnecessarily violent. The MCU’s Iron Man/Cap dynamic embraced character individualities and milked the friction caused by their differences. The fight between them in Civil War felt earned, it had weight to it. The fight in BvS felt empty because the characters were empty.

I am 17 minutes in and I want to point something out that further gets acrows how little Zack Synder gets these characters. Superman is a child whisked away by his parents to another land in a ship. He is raised in another land and goes to the city to save the people. He was written by two Jewish writers. HE. 👏 IS. 👏 A. 👏 MOSES. 👏 ALLEGORY. 👏 It is unbelievable how much Zack assumes he's Jesus when he is supposed to be Moses, who is one of the most important prophets in Judaism.
Oh, so that's why Superman: The Movie will always be the best film of the character: It understands that Superman is Moses and that his father Jor-El is God. Or something....
@@NebLleb While I’m not the most adept at theology, the biggest thing that differentiates Moses and Jesus is that Moses is still human with flaws and shortcomings while Jesus being part god himself is flawless and sinless. Remember, Superman views himself as Clark Kent first, Superman second. He views himself as a human (flaws and all) with kryptonian powers. Snyder’s Superman rarely touches upon Clark’s humanity.
there's a bit of that there but as someone who's part jewish who reads up a lot on her own people's mythology, he's sort of more of a modern interpretation of the golem. Not saying the moses allegory isn't there or that it's wrong, but he's got more than just Moses
The disaster that is the Snyderverse (and the greater DCEU) has been, really makes me appreciate how much of a lightning in a bottle the MCU Infinity Saga was. To be honest the fall of snyderverse is more of the fault of everyone, Zack Snyder was definitely not the right choice as architect for the DCEU But Warner Brothers are no saints either The way they treated Zack during the production of JL and Having their relationship fall part Is probably one of the most ugliest downfalls of partnerships between a studio and filmmaker Next to the production of aliens 3 with Fox and David Fincher?
Something that people fail to understand is Warner wanted a darker Superman regardless of Snyder's presence. After The Dark Knight, Warner hired story collaborator David Goyer to write a script for a darker Superman movie, and this was before they had a director. Whichever director was hired, we still would've gotten Man Of Steel. Goyer even took credit for one of the more infamous moments, Superman snapping Zod's neck.
@@billybarnett9518 Wow I didn't know that until now. But yeah it brings back my point is that it is more of the fault of everyone involved. I still think having Batman V Superman the second film of this series is one of the dumbest decisions they made. If I was Zack or at least a WB executive after Man of Steel I would just have Man of Steel 2, Wonder Woman (Same novel just different ending as the director wanted plus it would be release earlier.) A Ben Affeck spin off batman movie adapting the death in the family storyline (regardless who is robin whether it is jason todd or Dick Grayson the death of robin would explain why Batman is the way he is in Batman V Superman and why he kills people.), Aquaman, The Flash,(Different Flashstoryline not Flashpoint.) Then finally Batman V Superman? I wonder what do you think of my ideas?
@@WyattDucar Sounds like a good plan. For some reason, I can't post the article I wanna post despite several attempts, but this was their plan as of August 2008: "Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well."
@@billybarnett9518 Interesting, considering how that turned out in the end or the ideas were good just executed poorly. I will admit while I don't hate the whole Batman killing people in Batman V Superman I just wish we have an in-universe explanation for why he essentially become the punisher and I think having Ben Affleck spin off film earlier as well as adapting the Death in the family Storyline would be good because at least we would understand the current state he is in Batman V Superman?
Why do we need another Superman origin story? I’d love to see Superman in the 3rd year of his career. He’d be established, he’d be known, and it still leaves room for villains to take their shot at Superman.
Also here's the thing, for people defending it for Realism 1. Dark and Gritty is not the same thing as Realistic. 2. Realism isn't the superior choice in every situation, there are some stories that are best told in an unrealistic fashion.
Realism is an art style like any other. It still has to follow the conventions of other art styles to be good. Defending Snyder's flaws as a fault of realism is like defending a crappy garage band because "jazz is supposed to suck." Anyone who has any experience with music or jazz would find that comment short-sighted and revolting, so why do we tolerate it for realism?
Me too it was so bad. I can only surmise that snyderverse robots are just people that haven’t seen that many movies, reject marvel schlock and therefore latch onto this abortion in order to appear sophisticated despite how terrible these movies are.
As a life long comics fan I like the snyderverse. Is it a good 1:1 of the comics? No. Did he make controversial decisions? Yes. But I got what he was doing. Everyone was so mad superman killed zod. I wasn't. If we're trying to be as realistic as we can work these characters then if you're superman and when right off the bat your first adversary isn't lex or metallo but a being(s) as powerful as you with combat training that outcome to stop them is inevitable. I think man of steel is quite good. Bvs was hundred by cutting the plot and as a big Batman fan I am disappointed we got a Batman that lost his way. But it resonates with me because at the time I was going through it bad and seeing this rageful and borderline psycho Batman waa paralleling where I was obviously without the murder lol. Having superman kinda redeem him paralleled my journey back to Christ. So bvs is probably the weakest but it seemed to me Zack was deconstructing to rebuild these mythological characters because he wanted to see what mage them tick. I just found that interesting because he wasn't trying to copy marvel and even at that point I was growing stale with marvel noticing the drop in quality and cookie cutter nature of their films. If say this really started after around age of ultron and the first guardians. Humor And levity is fine and necessary but boy especially after guardians was an unexpected hit they really went for it. So fit me what Zack was doing was like a pallet cleanser and it is not what I would've done but I did want to see where it would go. Like c'mon good justice league it's fantastic other than the slow no porn. He waa wilding a little too much there. But I really enjoyed justice league and I know he had controversial ideas for the sequels like Lois and Batman having a baby and it is so wild and original I at least want commons to complete that cause I just wanna see what this crazy bastard was cooking
The idea that DC is dark and gritty comes from fans who read nothing other than Batman. DC is bright and full of hope. Sure, it has some adult and darker material, but it's not pervasive into the greater universe. Metropolis is optimistic, Superman is a boy scout. To pretend otherwise is just silly. The Snyder stuff is like fan fiction written by an angsty 13 year old.
People read the dark alternate universe hypothesis comics that started coming out in the 90s and began associating that as the main canon. They were never meant to carry the main story or be the definitive versions of these characters, just alt-history for the fun of it.
People who think MCU is childish and goofy should look at how that scene was handled when Tony Stark finds out that Bucky is the killer of his parents and loses it. It's all rage in him from that point on. That is cinema. That was serious tone people think didn't exist in MCU
Too bad it's kinda ridiculous and forced just to create the 'epic fight scene'. Why would he be angry and actually try to kill a brainwashed person that had literally no control over his actions? He's supposed to be an actual hero. I hated it so much.

I think Snyder's 300 was good and his style works for it. I absolutely hate how it looks in DC movies though. I don't get how WB doesn't just hand the reigns to their animated DC team cuz they write a good script the characters work and the story is good and makes sense just let them make a full length real film then.
The biggest problem with the Snyderverse is that WB gave the keys to their DC Cinematic Universe to an artsy, pretentious edgelord director who did not care about the source material in the slightest. They were hoping they'd capture the same lightning in a bottle the Christopher Nolan Batman movies did as opposed to trying to make a superhero film universe akin to their competitor (the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Instead of something like The Avengers, you end up with an attempt to create an epic tale of gods among men with overly deep and pretentious themes, because WB had to gamble on one director who was NOT interested in superheroes in the slightest.
Honestly there's nothing wrong with exploring deeper themes in Superhero media, but like, you need to understand the characters themselves first. Your deep themes should emerge out of the existing themes in each of the characters. If Superman doesn't suit the themes of your film, then don't cast Superman, find another character that suits the theme.
When you realise the dude loves Ayn Rand his entire movie catalogue makes sense lol. Have hated his DCEU movies since the first Superman. Glad to see them gone.
Not to defend BvS too hard but it was Superman being so powerful that made bruce go mental until their fight. He was just normal Batman before and then he retired after Dick was killed only to come back when he saw a guy who could possibly do what the Joker was doing to Gotham on a global scale.

As someone who has read DC and has a very bias opinion based on the comics I have read, these versions are a far cry from the iconic characters I have loved since I was a child.
I think the worst part of this trilogy of movies is they wasted Superman's death. No upcoming much slower paced buildup to such an event will ever have the same "sting" to a general audience because they did it here so sloppily, so now anyone looking at a new series of movies that builds up to a sacrifice are just going to recall these movies and say "Oh that's okay, he heals from death so he'll be fine", so every movie in between his death and resurrection (the "in between" being something that doesn't exist in the Snyderverse) will just have audience asking "hey when's Superman coming back?" instead of what they should be thinking, which is "I miss Superman right now". Heck, they even could have taken the Snyderverse and spun it into a multiversal idea, doing a direct followup by another director called "Justice Society" based on a more retro and kinder aesthetic and their contact with the Snyderverse. You know, conflicting viewpoints of alternate characters playing off each other. Instead, Marvel even beat them to THAT punch to such an extent everyone's sick of the very concept of the multiverse.
Superman’s death should have been like “Voldemort’s return” in the 4th Harry Potter, a BIG moment that changed the narrative to a darker path but the whole story is already dark and with all the Jesus metaphors we know he comes back

To any readers of this comment section, here is some advice from someone who is not a film-maker but actively thinks like one and would like to be some day. Visual spectacle is great, but it should never be prioritized over story when making a movie. The story comes first, and if ever something occurs in it that happens to be spectacular, only depict it then. But those moments need to feel earned, so focus first on the characters, their actions, motivations, thoughts and feelings which lead up to them. Don't use spectacle every ten-seconds to keep your viewers engaged. Do that through other means. Personally, I would resort to that by tickling the intellectual parts of your viewer's minds, even while simultaneously giving them story elements that require some suspension of disbelief. For example, TV shows like "Doctor Who" do a good job at doing this. A lot of the "science" in that show is incredibly fake, but it feels believable for the overall universe that is being conveyed. With regard to overall visuals prior to moments of spectacle, you can at least make them intriguing through lighting and color-grading, but obviously, those two things needs to be done wisely. Lighting should enhance the subject and convey the mood. Color grading can also be used to convey a mood, but first and foremost, it should be used to enhance your footage. Stylization, if need be, can come later. But even then, it should not be overdone like in movies such as The Ring, Twilight, and 300. Camerawork is especially crucial. It's important to utilize the rule of thirds and not overuse central focus on your subjects. But you need to set up a shot in a way that allows your viewer to absorb information in a feasible way. All of this advice is based not only on my personal experiences with shooting and editing videos, but also from a Visual Storytelling class I took in college. I'm by no means a professional, so maybe don't take my word for it 100%. But some of the advice I give might be helpful.
I think the direction was worse. I can't tell how much is the actor trying to act like this sniveling nerd character and how much he was told to act that way.
Imagine having a cinematic universe with two of the most popular superheroes in western canon And the most beloved character to come out of it is fucking Peacemaker.

But you have to understand: these movies were made for the fans. And can be only be enjoyed by the true DC fans who read the comics and invest on these characters. . . . . I actually read a shit load of DC comics and know each and every story the Snyderverse were inspired from. And its all a piss poor take. 1) Now I am more forgiving on Man of Steel as there are a lot of different origin retellings of Superman including Johb Bryne’s Man of Steel, Mark Waid’s Superman Birthrifhr, Geoff Jones’ Supwrman Secrer Origins, and Max Landis’ Superman American Alien. But for conparisson lets go with Birthrighr which seems like the one Superman Origin that Snyder’s Man of Steel is directly inspired from. Like Birthright was also a more grounded and updated retelling of the character which dwells with the themes of Clark struggling to learn about who he is and his gradual development in becoming accepted as Earth’s champion who inspires others. The thing is Birthright actually pulled off said development and didn’t came across as contrived as you pointed out with the video. I even like how said story present the invading Kryptonian army as merely just a false flag operation by Lex Luthor to sew dissent in public trust towards Superman (which is a lot smartly done that Luthor’s plan in BVS which speaking of. . . . . ) 2) Batman v. Superman is clogged up mess of a story that doesn’t do any of the stories it included justice. It failed to do the first meeting of the heroes right compare to how JB Man of Steel pulled off their initial teeth clenched team up which focus the development of the two mutual respect. It failed to understand the meaning of their fight from The Dark Knight Returns which was supposed to be a clash between two long acquainted friends who are now on opposite sides of the law. And it failed to understand the impact of The Death of Superman story which is something that should of been saved for in a movie later down the film universe than at the early stages of the whole thing. 3) ZS Justice League really is just a bloated retelling of New 52 Justice League origin. Like the only difference being is that Steppenwolf is the starting villain instead of Darkseid and there is NO Green Lantern. And worst yet, said movie attempt to evoke the same tone and themes of Pantheon as Grant Morrisson JLA while completely missing the metacontex behind said themes. Doesn’t help that the whole Knightmare sequence was trying to emulate the whole bad future from the Rock of Ages storyline. Point is: you really would have a better time enjoying Justice League by just reading Grant Morrison’s JLA.

@@joshevertonyt Yeah it is depressing, as I legit wanted the film universe to succeed in bringing the characters and their story to the silver screen. But the combination of the questionable logic in the characters, the bleakness in its tone despite Justice League attempt at being more idealistic, and just the constant bastardization of the story does convince me that Snyderverse was just a sinking ship of a franchise. And the post-Snyder era is just all over the place with quality as they either are some of the best representation of the characters (Aquaman, Shazam, The Suicid Squad, Blue Beetle) or dumpster fires that I regret seeing (Wonder Woman 84, The Flash, Black Adam, Shazam Fury of the Gods)

As a former fan who tried watching the Main Arc of the DCEU, I cannot deny the story...hasn't aged well. I was a bit fatigued with Marvel's content especially some parts of it not aging well. Such as the horrors of CGI and VFX special effects, the humor being used at nauseoum especially Thor Love and Thunder, the many releases for phases, etcetera. But I still feel the MCU still lives up because between Iron Man to Endgame all stories managed to reach a conclusion rather than a rushed final arc. That is why I feel the reason why the Snyderverse failed was Warner Brothers, The issues with Snyder as a Director, and issues with how they gave the product. Warner is still a busy and messy company due to its poor working condtions and issues in the DC universe. Rather than doing their way of films, they tried to copy Marvel's universe and that failed too. They were too eager in producing yet again another dark superhero movie after Nolan left the Dark Knight trilogy, and because of that they hired Snyder. And sigh, I never got into Snyder's movies. There's something off with the dark lighting as well as the characters acting like a soap opera. I mean what he did with his Snyder Take of Justice League was incredible, I feel he's great at choreography by making it intense but the way the characters are like makes me bored watching it. Now don't get me wrong I did enjoy some parts of the Snyderverse. I enjoyed the Man of Steel's take of Zodd the most thanks to Zodd's actor, Michael Shannon. I feel Henry Cavill is an underrated Superman that unfortunately didn't capture his full potential but he was great at being heroic. I liked Cavill's Superman outfit and maybe if Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was given development more, maybe it could've been great. But the Snyderverse to me is a what if. I'm sure Snyder loves filming and his choreography is incredible. He may be fun to others but personally I sadly don't get it. He's great with the coreography but his work to me feels so....incomplete? And while I did enjoy some pieces of his Snyderverse JLU, it doesn't feel as fulfilling as I hoped. Maybe I was burnt out by cinematic movie trilogies though this movie wasn't a hit for me as I hope. The only reason I enjoyed the Cut was Cyborg and Stepphenwolf and everything was wasted. Too bad the movie's runtime was long and it sucks we never got to see Darkseid in action. Poor Bruce is still the violent vigilante take of Snyder and Superman wasn't able to shine until the last acts. And Snyder always made the "ominous foreshadowing" that he'll always snap and turn evil. Sigh. That's why maybe we cannot simply revive a beaten horse. We all got our Snyderverse JLU movie and while I enjoy his take I just never got intetested in Snyder. I still feel if much fault is Warner but Snyder to me shouldn't work for a cinematic movie. I never got interested in his movies especially Rebel Moon because why do we have to watch a two parter of a gritty Star Wars take? I hope Snyder becomes a better creator because I'm just unimpressed besides his movie the 500. The only reason why I enjoyed the DCEU's movies isn't Snyder. But the many other directors who made other movies. Like Joker (2019) or The Batman (2022). Maybe The DCU should focus on superhero one offs on characters or take their own spin on the mythos while still respecting the source material. Overall, I don't despise the Snyderverse I'm just disappointed.

"If y'all don't restore the Snyderverse, you'll regret it"? Why are people issuing petty threats over some silly movies It's like they build their whole identity around this crap!😂
There is no denying that WB are partly to blame for the failure of the DCEU. They rushed into it without a plan for what they wanted to accomplish other than wanting to copy Marvel. They put multiple movies into production without waiting for the first one to release and see how people responded. I am referring to how BvS, SS, WW, JL, and AM were shot back to back. The timeline was so compressed that WW was already shooting when BvS came out, and AM was *done* filming when JL came out. If that hadn't happened, it is very possible AM would've been canned altogether. But this does not absolve Snyder of blame. It was he and Goyer who decided to have Clark snap Zod's neck. Everyone they went to told them not to do it but they did anyway. He is responsible for the mess of BvS, the one movie where he had the most creative control. He is the one who decided to have the DCEU, the first ever iteration of a JL live action universe, take inspiration from Injustice, a storyline that is best suited to an Elseworlds. And going beyond this, it is clear the guy just doesn't understand what comics mean to people beyond a very narrow, tunnel vision. There is that infamous interview where he says mainstream comics weren't bloody and violent enough for him, and that a truly "dark" Batman movie would have a prison r*pe scene. His adaptation of Watchmen is overly focused on fancy, slow mo fight scenes and making Rorschach cool, when the comic makes it clear that he is a violent psychopath who knows little beyond beating up people. In the lead up to BvS, he gave an interview where he said if two superheroes are talking in costume, it looks silly. And in his world, if Superman saves a cat out of a tree, he will be set upon by arborists for breaking branches. He really has no idea what Superman stands for, other than being an obstacle to be overcome. It is no wonder the only story he could think of was one where Clark becomes evil, because that is the most obvious leap from treating Superman like an obstacle. Snyder and Goyer gave us the first successful Superman movie in 26 years. The general audience liked MOS..BVS..SS..WW ... But WB butchered 4 dceu movies with studio interferance causing issues. Snyder use of injustice was just an element to be saved from.
BvS and ZSJL writer Chris Terrio addressed the Anti-Life confusion in a live Q&A at the 2023 Full Circle Event. Terrio said “Ive heard chatter about the Anti-Life Equation”….”how did Uxas/Darkseid lose it as though it were his keys? But we would’ve taken that up in the second episode (JL2). You would’ve understood some of the Apokolyptian betrayals and Palace intrigue that would’ve explained how all that happened. So if ever a miracle happens and more of the story is made, you’ll understand more of that because there was a plan there.”
That's genuinely good that they said that and clarified. Unfortunately, to the average audience member (myself included) who just watches the film and doesn't know about these secondary pieces of info, there is no explanation for it in the film itself. It is good to know they get this was a point of contention though, and sought to address it
At least I now know it’s cuz of disloyalty cuz I thought “u guys didn’t even have any records of the planet you invaded to obtain universal to multiversal power?”
I suggest you watch the DCAU sometime. The shows included in it are Batman the Animated Series The New Batman Adventures Superman the Animated Series Batman Beyond The Zeta Project Justice League Justice League Unlimited Also the following movies Batman Mask of the Phantasm Batman-Mr. Freeze Subzero Batman Mystery of the Batwoman Batman Beyond and the Return of the Joker
My observation is that people who like the Snyderverse usually tell you a very different story than what actually happens on screen. It's important to understand that I'm not saying these people are liars or make up things, it all has to do with the way Hollywood movies are made and work. 99% of Hollywood movies are set up around the three act structure. You have a protagonist who will usually rise up in the first part of the movie, then challenge the villain, lose and then gets a second shot and win. Now in order to make both making the movie and understanding the plot both easier, two of these features are cues and shortcuts. The Cue is a major moment in a film, usually an important scene or vignette. For example the infamous training montage, the heroes walking in slow motion moment, the brief pause and theme song moment just before the action changes etc. The Shortcut is a way to convey an idea in a quick and convenient manner. For example if your protagonist is the "ordained one" who will save the world, you can try two things, have an actor who can be really intense play major moments where they show they are truly special or you can just have a cardboard cutout stand in for the protagonist and heavily imply they are special through a voiceover and some CGI where a magical being tells them they are special. One is much easier to achieve and both get the point across. If you completely ignore the actual story in a Snyder movie and only pay attention to the cues and shortcuts, you just watched a super-classic hero story. It has all the proper badass moments, it has the excitement, the triumphs, the lows, everything that every good three act movie has. Except that the pieces are mounted backwards or don't even fit. If you ignore the story and only follow the cues you get the impression Man of Steel is a fantastic story about a Superman who doesn't take any shit and wins the day. If you pay attention to the dialogue and story, you notice it simply doesn't add up. I'll give an example : In Batman vs Superman, you have a montage where Superman does a bunch of amazing things, he saves people from burning buildings, he rescues a ship, he saves a rocket, and he saves people who fled to the roof of their house as everything around them is flooded. It's fantastic, it's the best hero moment of any movie because they are very dramatic looking cues. Watch the actual scenes and Superman barely interacts with people at all. In the first scene he's just standing there while people look at him adoringly and he has this bored, almost constipated expression on him like he doesn't even want to be there. When he pulls the ship he looks like he's been told to put out the garbage, ditto for the rocket, and with the flood, he just hangs in the air looming very dramatically over people who reach out to him, but he does nothing at all. If you react to cues, it's amazing ! It's the best thing ever, if you actually watch a film and follow the story, it feels fake.
"This ain't your grandpa's Superman."
Shame, pappy had it good.

I really don't know why people gravitated to the cult of Snyder. Out of all the directors in history at least pick someone that was good.
There is one scene. When he's flying for the first time - Clark's got that big grin on his face. Other than that, though? You're right.
To be honest as Eastern European I did not notice anything wrong with how Clark was being raise up. I would even say that he had very thoughtful and caring father. And while we don't smile very often we definitely are not Brightburns and Homelanders. :D

They love Zack’s work but they give no craps about him as a person or just outright ignore him if he does something that doesn’t fit their narrative. They constantly crap on James Gunn despite Zack having nothing but good things to say about him and being generally supportive of Gunn’s vision for DC, heck they constantly defame Gunn by bringing up the old risqué tweets he made, whilst ignoring the fact that Gunn helped Zack set up Snyder-con, Zack showed that Gunn provided him
with an IMAX copy of The Suicide Squad to test the sound and picture with and thanked Gunn on his social media for it calling it a great movie.
Yes Snyder’s fans ignore this and constantly act like they are enemies and that TSS was bad despite the fact that Snyder and Gunn get along and Snyder likes the movie they love to crap in
What you're talking about are people who are emotionally stunted, similar to the basement gamer type, they like to only make everything about them and their weird identity with this movie and they can't move on from that. It's just sad.

A Ben Affeck spin off batman movie adapting the death in the family storyline (regardless who is robin whether it is jason todd or Dick Grayson the death of robin would explain why Batman is the way he is in Batman V Superman and why he kills people.), Aquaman, The Flash,(Different Flashstoryline not Flashpoint.) "Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr.
The problem with Snyderverse is that he sells it like a Justice League story, but it was a Injustice Story.

Superman’s death should have been like “Voldemort’s return” in the 4th Harry Potter, a BIG moment that changed the narrative to a darker path but the whole story is already dark and with all the Jesus metaphors we know he comes back
as someone who loves the comics and the lore , the fact some people were defending it saying its comic accurte because scenes looked like comic panels was baffling , they banked on the fact that in the first few appereance of batman in 1939 where the character was a bland noir detective and i mean maybe 4 issues to justifying him killing and assisinating his entire growth and development of the character , i felt ashamed of being a DC fan

That's great. It doesn't matter. All are fictitious.

I even like how said story present the invading Kryptonian army as merely just a false flag operation by Lex Luthor to sew dissent in public trust towards Superman (which is a lot smartly done that Luthor’s plan in BVS which speaking of. . . . . )
2) Batman v.
@BigK13372 thanks for this context! I am genuinely impressed how hard they fumbled very odd and specific attempts at sewing so many different things together

And I haven't even started on all the wild changes he was making to DC canon like having the Amazons be descended from Kryptonians who crashed on Earth ages ago, or Bruce and Lois having a child together, all while insisting that he was adhering to canon.

Nuance is too much of a big boy word for Zack to comprehend, he is an absolute hack so if he can make movies anyone can
My observation is that people who like the Snyderverse usually tell you a very different story than what actually happens on screen.
