Whoa when worlds collide. A RUclipsr I like watching ANOTHER RUclipsr I like 😌🤯😂
When Robin first walks into the batcave and says, "This thing is nicer than my apartment," it was truly a display of masterful writing.
This thing is nicer than my apartment 🗣️🗣️
“Chicks dig this thing!”
"HEY YOU GUUYYYS"
OH GOD
Bro that commercial is cringe.
I will say there’s a line in Batman and Robin that I unironically love, and it’s from Alfred when Bruce is asking Alfred if he has any regrets about being the butler to the Wayne’s and whatnot Alfred responds with: “my only regret is that I could not be out there with you”
Like that just feels so fatherly and wholesome from Alfred
Alfred's actor definitely understood the assignment, which is funny since him and Gordon are the only two actors to be in ALL 4 80s-90s live action films

Hmm, you gave Adam West a B. B is for Batman, but B also sounds like Bee, the number one pollinator for plants. Plants are controlled by the nefarious Poison Ivy. Ivy is also the name of a League of schools known world wide for being among the best. Best also rhymes with West.... Great Scott Robin, he named Adam West the Best Batman!
I can’t say I disagree with that title.
“What has yellow skin and writes?”
“A ballpoint banana”

All this being said with completely straight faces had me in genuine tears

Gonna gush about Batman Forever for a sec:
The scene in the circus tent where harvey has everyone held hostage with a bomb has ALWAYS been one of my favorite superhero scenes ever because it shows both Batman and Robin's personalities so well; Batman, being on a date with Chase Meridian, had let his guard down for one night, and it put a lot of FAMILIES in danger since he couldn't just swoop in and kick two face's butt, and the timer was down to minutes. As he is a solo act, he has no backup, no way to contact Alfred, and so he does the one thing he can do: he admits he is batman. But the commotion drowns him out. As batman, the only thing he can do is try to save everyone, by conceding. Because he knew it was his fault.
At the same time, you have Dick Greyson, whose family is doing a cirque du soleil ass act to distract the bad guy, and he's the one who is hauling ass to neutralize the bomb, because /it's the right thing to do/. His family dies protecting the city. He was not there to save them, which weighs heavily on him. And yet, he saved a whole city without hiding his identity. He was the hero that night, his whole family was. But because batman took a night off, he'd never get to celebrate it. Out of guilt and out of obligation, Bruce takes Dick in, unaware that they had already done a job as Batman and Robin.
Not that it's cinematic perfection or anything, but the people who wrote that part really got it.
My prediction for Marcus’s Ratings:
Batman Begins = 6/10
The Dark Knight = 9/10
Dark Knight Rises = 4/10
Close.
Marcus’s ratings were:
Batman Begins = 7/10
The Dark Knight = 9/10
The Dark Knight Rises = 5/10
I'm glad that Marcus has the "batman does not kill" rule so high in his judgements.
Yes, although counting the thugs in the '66 movie is not fair at all. They die due to Penguin accidentally using heavy water to rehydrate them, nothing that is Batman's fault

What I really love about 1989's Joker is the permanent smile thing they do with him. The way it constantly twists his face is a really cool effect we haven't seen since.
I like how he's a gangster, but even before he falls into the vat of chemicals, it's mentioned that he's already viewed as a little crazy to begin with (Eckhardt calls him an "A1 nutjob" or something like that) and he is mentioned as being highly intelligent with chemistry, which explains how he can make Smilex.
I’m mixed on how Batman ‘89 handles Joker’s origin/connection to Bruce Wayne, but I do like how they establish that Jack was always kind of a dick even before he fell into the acid. Especially since Joker’s always going on about his whole “one bad day” ideology and how it’s the reason why he became what he is now, so it’s refreshing to have a piece of media that just goes, “oh yeah no he was always like that, the acid just gave him an excuse to be even worse.”
I absolutely adore Jack Nicholson in general, but in this movie his performance is truly wonderful

Couldn't agree more. The script is definitely nicer than my apartment.
Marcus, I'm dying man where's the part 2
Part 2 in 2025 ?
We're prolly gonna get pt 2 after GTA 6.
To address your complaint as to why Max Schreck is so prominent in Batman Returns, the character was originally supposed to be Harvey Dent. Instead of the explosion at the end of the film killing him, it was to scar his face and set him up as Two-Face for the third film.
Lando Calrissian was also originally supposed to be a clone from the Clone Wars, which means there's probably an alternate timeline where clone troopers were played by an old Billy Dee Williams instead of Temura Morrison.
He doesn't care, Tim Burton is bad man
Speaking of Harvey Dent, Burton is most definitely not a racist. He cast Billy Dee Williams personally, and he didn't even have to. (And the clown in BATMAN RETURNS who says, "Heh-heh-heh-heh, you missed!"? Under that whiteface, he's Native American. And he gave one of the best performances in the movie.)
Good to know.
NOT TRUE. Daniel Waters, the writer of the film, categorically denied that Max Schreck was meant to be Harvey Dent. There were three scripts made. And none of them had Two Face or Harvey in Max's role. It was always Max Schreck.
This fan-fiction level myth needs to DIE!

I'm still so glad that current WB with the still on-going problems of the DCEU hasn't touched _Batman Beyond_ (yet--sigh). A bad live-action wouldn't ruin the original, but it would still sting.
@@MusicoftheDamned It could've just been a standalone, like 'Joker' and 'The Batman'.
They had the prefect opertunity to use Keaton as Oldman Bruce, to mentor Terry Mcginnis (whatever young actor who'd play him), but wasted him 'The Flash' movie (and Batgirl if that had came out).
@@trika91 True. A standalone is currently the only way I could see it being good even with James Gunn taking over, but I guess we'll see if he'll eventry to touch at all after, well, whatever is going on with that. As much as the MCU has become a mess after _Endgame_ (somewhat predictably), it's still difficult to comprehend that the DCEU a full decade later is *still* more of mess--as seen with pretty much every DCEU movie this year--as someone who grew up with the DCAU.
Sigh. It would be nice if DC could *finally* get its crap together for the live-action movies if they insist on doing them rather than only having like done five good ones out of the last thirty they've made (and actually released--R.I.P. _Batgirl_ movie).
I've ironically/unironically loved Kiss from a Rose for over a decade - I never knew it was made for Batman Forever. The fact that it was, just makes me love it even more.

Fuck, only now I got to that point in the video and of course Marcus included the Community scene hahahahahahaha
Part two please. Can’t live without that.
Wheres pt 2 marky mark
The interesting thing about Val Kilmers Batman is that there’s a lot of deleted dialogue that suggests he has killed before. There’s deleted Two-Face dialogue of him laughing at the idea that Batman “doesn’t kill.” There’s also a really cool deleted scene of Bruce having an internal monologue with himself, and he realizes that he doesn’t know who he is anymore, because both his Bruce and Batman personality’s have melted into one, which is why the director chose to include Two- Face in the movie. Classic split personality villain. My theory is that in the early drafts of Batman Forever, we were gonna start with a Batman who has kinda lost his way, and the movie was gonna be about him trying to find out who he is and who he used to be before he went down a dark path. But then Warner Bros just cut out this amazing subplot for no fucking reason. You can watch the deleted scenes on RUclips tho.
There is a version of the script with those scenes online and there is a video on RUclips by Hitop films that goes over the movie as it is VS what the director wanted to make and it goes over those scenes and that version of the character. I fully believe that this is supposed to be the same Bruce Wayne as Keaton, it was originally going to be another Burton sequel with Keaton, but they both walked away because of how much control the studio wanted.
@@richardlandgraf1953 that would make sense. Because Kenton’s Batman killed all the time. Perhaps in the early drafts of the script, the people of Gotham were getting fed up with Batman running around every night killing people, and maybe there was gonna be a subplot about Batman trying to go back to being a hero who doesn’t kill. That would’ve been very interesting. Personally, Kevin Conroy is my ideal Batman, and I think Batman should never kill. Batman is the guy who not only doesn’t kill, but actually saves his villains, even though they were just trying to kill him 5 mins ago. I hope Robert Pattinson Batman does some cool shot like that
Nelson Riddle working on Batman is the same energy as Marc Webb directing Spiderman

And how many people had the Robin logo t-shirt? Zero.
Robin was introduced to give Batman someone to talk to and appeal to kids. So Batman spends his nights punching the crap out of extremely twisted criminals and decides to GROOM a kid to do the same. Any idea what kind of trauma would forever scar a young mind?
So yeah, anyone who thinks Robin is a good idea also sucks just like Cosmo. What he likes or dislikes is super arbitrary like if he had that particular Batmobile that movie is good. LAME.

@@dangerfly Batman didn't groom Grayson. He took him under his wing because he didn't want to see Grayson turn into another Batman, another vengeance fueled psychopath (even if he's pretty cool and in the right).

My favorite thing in batman and robin is when mr freeze informs the audience that after the heat death of the universe everything will reach absolute zero in the end. And then in a scene later supplements the phrase “say cheese” with “say freeze”. What an absolute masterpiece
Honestly glad to see someone acknowledge that Nicholson's Joker is arguably more dangerous and darker than Ledger's; I will wholly accept that the latter gives a better performance overall, but nothing from Ledger straddles the line of 'dark' and 'hilarious' as the 'I'm glad you're dead!' bit from '89.
I also appreciate that '89's Joker isn't locked into the typical Batman/Joker stories we get these days, where Joker's cruelty is neverendingly escalating to try and get Batman to snap and Batman just goes 'Hrrn' and throws him back into Arkham. Nicholson's Joker doesn't give a *shit* about Batman beyond the fact he's stealing his spotlight, and it's pretty refreshing these days.
He said "more chaotic" in reference to his mannerisms, nothing about being "darker and more dangerous." Which one is more dangerous is debatable, as both rack up a pretty high body count and do a lot of damage to Gotham city. Ledger was far more manipulative and cunning, but Nicholson was arguably more "evil" as he seemed to just kill for the fun of it, whereas Ledger had a specific philosophical agenda that he wanted to prove.
However, Ledger definitely takes the spot for the darker Joker, with the reason being that he actually succeeded in harming and killing main characters. Nicholson only killed a bunch of minor side characters, whereas Ledger killed Rachel and psychologically destroyed Harvey Dent, turning him into the disfigured Two-Face. Then he forced Batman into becoming a political martyr for Gotham in a desperate resort to maintain peace. The actions of Ledger's Joker simply had bigger and deadlier consequences for the main characters. To me, that leaves a much bigger impact than Nicholson saying an evil line to a fake looking skeleton, making him the "darker" Joker.
Probably because Nicholson's Joker is an actual gangster. I mean, he's still insane, but moreso in an average Mafia way.
Ledger's Joker is just all around psychotic in the "point" he's trying to make.
I think he’s way better than ledger

I will say there is only one thing Clooney did well. His Batman showed a sliver of humanity when dealing with Victor at the end of the movie. He pleaded with his humanity to save a life. That is very rare for any live action Batman to pull off and I appreciated that.
That's more of a writing thing than something Clooney did.
45:02 wasn’t expecting that Community clip but I’m so glad you included it bc that episode was my first introduction to Kiss From A Rose 😂
i think he forgot about Mask of the Phantasm and thats why pt 2 is taking so long
59:22 I never noticed this until now. Clooney is still wearing the sonar suit, but Robin is in the red suit from the beginning of the movie. This means they got back home from a big fight and saved the city from Mr. Freeze, yet Robin decided the first thing to do was to switch to his favorite costume. He’s even behind Barbara, implying he was the last one to show up to Alfred’s almost dead carcass. 🤣

Every Ultimate review has a character arc.
I still remember the chills I got watching Tim Burton's Batman for the very first time as a kid. The Gothic-style cinematography, Danny Elfman's haunting score, and Jack Nicholson's iconic Joker performance left an indelible mark on me that has stayed with me to this day. It was like stepping into another world, one that felt both familiar yet eerily unfamiliar at the same time. And when Michael Keaton emerged from the shadows as Bruce Wayne/Batman, it was nothing short of breathtaking. This film ignited my passion for superhero movies and set the bar high for what a comic book adaptation could be. Truly, it remains a classic masterpiece that continues to inspire and delight audiences of all ages. To quote a friend of mine who recently watched it again, "This thing is nicer than my apartment."
