Easily the most underrated animated Batman. What's especially interesting is that most Bat-media that came after integrated a bunch of ideas from it: e.g. Penguin's feud with the Waynes, solidifying Bane's normal-to-big transformation with the Venom, etc. Also, I couldn't help noticing that the Dracula design was oddly similar to Ra's Al-Ghul's classic appearance. Obviously, we can't prove it, but I like to think they wanted to use him somehow, but got creative with what had. 😂
@@shelbybayer200 because they gave what was supposed to be his episode to Strange after DC ixnayed putting him on the show. The zombie episode was intended to premiere Scarecrow.
Since The Batman couldn't use Ra's Al Ghul, Dracula would've made a suitable replacement. Imagine Dracula still being a vampire but looking more like Vlad III, that could've been really cool.
Apparently the team that worked on the tie-in comic, The Batman Strikes!, intended for the comic to keep running even after the show ended, with plans to introduce the universe's versions of Bizarro, Wonder Woman, and even Owlman and the Crime Syndicate from Earth-3, but not long after the show ended the comic was also, of course, ended.
12:04 This was one of my favorite moments in 2004 The Batman series because even though Chief Rojas still despised the Batman, the rest of the GCPD began to see him as the hero of Gotham City, and he ended up being the minority in Batman’s role in stopping Freeze and Firefly from taking over the City
Man that bat embargo ruined a lot of things for batman villians. Did you know that there were plans to include scarecrow and riddler in the legion of doom on Justice League unlimted. But due to the bat embargo, it didn't happen.
Scarecrow and Riddler wouldn't have worked in Unlimited imo but I wonder if that Bat-embargo is the reason Nightwing wasn't included in JLU. Dude was never heard of again after TNBA, not even in Beyond
Ras al Ghul was Originally planned to appear in the justice league unlimited episode wake the dead where he was Originally supposed to be the one who resurrects Solomon Grundy but thanks to the bat embargo it couldn't happen it would've been much better than Grundy being accidently resurrected by teens
That Bat-embargo seems like the worst anti-marketing decision ever. The cross-pollination of exposure would've only helped, and the embargo implies that audiences are too stupid to understand that the same character won't be the same from movie versus a TV show. Also a total loss anytime the Mad Hatter does not get utilized. Mind Control would make such a great premise.
I LOVED this new BATMAN animated series, bought the entire season series when they came out on dvds.I also liked the teams-up with other JL members during it's run,no other Batman cartoon shows did this. And the intro music for the first season was-GOLDEN-too.I remember in a behind the scenes interview by one of the show-runners,he said SUPERMAN was an alien pretending to be-HUMAN-and i never forgot that quote.
My boy Scarecrow CANNOT catch a break 😭 A lot of the time he is just forgotten and when Scarecrow IS THERE, he just does NOTHING. (Cough cough, the Nolan films, cough cough.) I really hope he gets some Justice in "The Batman 2." He is an AMAZING character.
Fun fact that I learned later on when I got more into comic books. This series was actually spot on with how old Bruce was when he became Batman. He is 26 years old in his 3rd year meaning he would have been 23 when he started. I thought that was ridiculously young and that they were simply trying to appeal to a younger audience, however upon getting to read the original comics from the late 30's early 40's it depicts him losing his parents at age 8 and then says for 15 years he puts himself through extensive training ending in become the Batman. I thought that was really cool. Had no idea Batman was so young and it was dope to see him at this age.
DC TV animation was really in it’s prime during the 2000s. So many animated series with a variety of tones. Imagining some of them sharing continuity is also really fun. Kind of sad how most of the animated series now are adult oriented.
DC really was in an animation golden age during the late 90s and the 2000s, it's crazy to think all the great shows and movies they released during that time. Also, I completely agree with you in that there should be more animated series appropriate for all ages, I think that cartoons are the best way for kids yo get into comics, so both Marvel and DC should really understand the value of making shows that everyone can enjoy and could potentially create them new lifelong fans.
Plus, just because a cartoon is made appropriate for kids doesn't mean it can't also have quality writing and deep storylines that also appeal to adults.
Fun fact: Designer Thomas Perkins created a design of Mr. Zsasz, who was supposed to a cameo in The Batman vs. Dracula Arkham scene, but it didn't go through and he lost the design to time. You can still spot Calendar Man in the movie's opening battle.
I know what you're talking about, but I saw a Batman villain retrospective recently that stated that Zsasz DID appear in the movie, but what he looks like exactly isn't clear. But who knows?
@@CCaster2000 I know that one. That's where I found out about Calendar Man, but his info is outdated. Perkins confirmed a little later that the Zsasz design never made it to the final episode.
Detective Yin was a great character, but she basically disappeared after Season 2 as Commissioner Gordon showed up and Batgirl became more prominent. I get that her roles were basically redundant by that point, but she still deserved better than to be Chuck Cunninghammed with no explanation. Well, at least they didn't kill her off.
Yh I agree. She was a great original character but her character just served her purpose and there wasn't really anywhere else they could take it She was a key part of the clayface story arc and showed a lot of growth when she chose to trust batman and team up with him. However from that point on, Batman didn't need her anymore as Gordon becomes his ally from the GCPD, and Batgirl as well as Robin then become his sidekicks I remember in the finale of S2, yin tries to go with batman as his "partner" to take on joker, riddler and penguin, but batman shuts her down because she's not his "sidekick". Considering in the very next episode, barbara is introduced while yin is written out, its clear that they never intended on making room for yin moving forward as the show was now upping the stakes. It would've been nice having her show up now and again to team up with the batfam, but the writers were always going to prioritise Commissioner gordon and batgirl (as well as robin later on), so it would've been harder to write her in
The design is fine, but he doesn't feel like Batman's archenemy and beyond disfiguring Bennet he doesn't really hurt Bruce in any real way. The show feels like a stepdown from how other Batman properties adapt his villains.
This show is finally starting to see a resurgence and was officially acknowledged by official DC Comics Art for the first time in like 20 years. And was last acknowledged in silhouette in Teen Titans Go Vs Teen Titans. I'm so happy The Batman is getting it's time under the sun finally. This is the show that introduced the mythos and character to me, and it's quality has stood the test of time. The acting, animation, designs, aesthetic, music, etc i love it all. I'd love to see a proper recognition of the show at some point soon. Its not easy to follow BTAS. Rino Romano is a GOAT Batman and Spider-Man. The clock king episode was amazing honestly.

While it was great to have Hugo Strange use the fear toxin, (wich is accurate to his first appearance in the comics) and okay to have Cayface substitue two face as theformer friend of Bruce who fell into villany; i still think that Scarecrow and Mad Hatter deserved to appear in this serie. Sure the show had a bit of continuity problem and overused sone villains but im sure they would have pulled off some real nice episodes for these two.
@IStevenSeagal I did see the show. My issues with season 4/5 mainly is the justice league episodes as this is a Batman show!! Also they abandoned characters I love such as Yin and Ethan Bennett which suck!! My favorite episode was the one with two clay faces through .
I adore this show for bringing in Black Mask - my favorite Batman villain - and making him a genuinely threatening villain. He is super underrated, and this series really did him justice
@@cybrid37 This, combined with No Man's Land. He was written completely differently, but dude was a goddamned menace back then. War Games was I think his next big appearance, & while he did do some truly awful shit there (like torture Spoiler), the overall plot just... wasn't very good.
I think something else that makes the Batman feel like a prequel to Teen Titans is a reference to a "Justice League: Teen Division". I mean, seriously, you could watch the Batman, and that line perfectly leads into Teen Titans. Like you could watch 1 and then the other.
@Compucles yes, but I'm saying if they're in the same continuity, then the idea existed before the team got together. Meaning Robin was already accepting of the idea and it was sort of inevitable.
This version of Batman is one of my favorites, the design is like, slim but imposing at the same time, it feels dynamic and fitting for a bruce that has trained around the world.
I love this Batman series. I grew up with BTAS and Batman Beyond, but I accepted this series right from the get-go. I knew it was going to be its own thing and I really loved the artstyle. Sure, there were some things I didn’t like such as Mr. Freeze not being the tragic villain saving his wife. But I really love the designs and thought they were great. Even the movie was amazing and I thought it was so scary it was good especially with Vampire Joker. Not being able to use all of the rogue gallery because of some Embargo is stupid. Which is also one of the reasons I couldn’t get into Beware the Batman. I was willing to try with the CGI, but I didn’t like Alfred in that series or how Harvey Dent was characterized. And while it’s neat to see other obscure Batman villains, not being some of the classic backs sucked like Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc. Sure having no Joker was a bold move would’ve been nice to have in like Season 3 or so. But back to The Batman, I love the first theme more but I’ve come to appreciate the second theme over time. I really need to get this series on DVD. EDIT: Oh, apparently Killer Croc was in Beware the Batman. It's been so long I forgot mostly everything about it.
Damn this was 2004 ? I swear I was watching this a little older… I mean I know playback but I could’ve sworn I saw the commercials for it when it was coming out
i love this Batman so much. Its what really got me into Batman and grew beyond my expectation, i liken this show constantly to Spectacular Spiderman. I pray every night this show gets a revival on MAX or something.
Growing up, this was my Batman. We had VHS tapes/DVD's of BTAS, but I was born after the series ended, so this was my primetime Batman fix. This show was very creative and you could tell how much of the team behind it were fans. It's a shame it never truly got it's true respect until now, it's hard to follow up BTAS. But this show did it's best, and I'd say it made a great attempt Great video btw!
Yeah XD It’s amazing how they have so much new life to Batman’s villians, with so much creative and bravos, it’s a a shame we won’t get something like this as I watched it (season 1) and it was an amazing watch and the closest thing well get to this in animation is the new ninja turtles movie (mutant mayhem) with how they reinvented all of the characters in such a new and unique way XD
I loved this as a kid. And years back it rekindled when I was in a bad car accident and was in bed for a month. The Batman was on Netflix and I was able to enjoy it all over again
It blows my mind how WB owned the rights to the entirety of DC and would actively choose to handicap themselves and pretend these characters couldn't be used like Marvel having to work around rights issues.
Fun Fact: Ellen Yin technically isn’t a new character. She’s an adaption of Ellen Yindel from The Dark Knight Returns. Much like her inspiration Yin had an anti Batman stance and was Gordon’s successor but unlike Yindel, Yin learned to respect and work with Batman before becoming Commissioner not during her time as Commissioner
Bro Two-face and Scarecrow NEED dat screen time I love the Dark Knight But they along with Catwoman and Talia had NO SCREEN TIME and my favorite villain Bane was only used ONCE as an actual enemy
I'm glad someone finally addressed this. Although this show was very good and cool, the show failed to show more interesting characters and expand their plotline, like the scarecrow, Harvey dent aka two-face, Ra's al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, some of the villains from Batman Arkham origins game, or even Black Adam! It would've been cool to see.
The Batman is a counterpoint to Batman The Animated Series. While the animation of the 90s highlighted Two-Face, Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, The Batman wanted to highlight other villains less prominent in the animation of the 90s, such as Riddler, Killer Croc, Hugo Strange, Mr Freeze, Firefly etc... Because the producers of The Batman wanted to get as far away from the Batman 90's Animated Series as possible.
I remember hearing somewhere that Detective Yin was inspired by Yindel, Gordon's successor as the GCPD Commissioner from The Dark Knight Returns, who was similarly opposed to Batman's operations when she was first introduced. This reference went even further in the Dark Knight Returns inspired episode of The Batman where over a broadcast it's mentioned that Yin had been promoted to commissioner after Gordon retired.
The Batman had amazing visuals, interesting character designs and spectacular action scenes. But, it was light on substance and heavy on style. However, the Batman vs. Dracula OAV is terribly underrated and stands as one of the best Batman OAV’s.
The Batman was perfect for what it was. Yes, The Animated Series will always be more important and closer to what is traditionally expected from Batman, but The Batman still works as a modern and more hip take on classic Batman stories like those seen in the Adam West Batman show which is exactly what the season 3 intro is paying homage to and fits the series' tone so much better. As much as I really enjoyed this iteration of Batman, it does do quite a lot of questionable things with its character portrayals that weirdly aren't deal breakers and somehow work extremely well within the context of the show but I personally wouldn't want to see done ever again. Probably a good thing too that the show went really deep on lesser explored villains that most viewers weren't really familiar with at the time.
I completely agree, it's nice that they considered using Wonder Woman on the show but if she wasn't available then they still should've adapted at least 1 female superhero, characters like Vixen and Black Canary would've looked really cool in the shows' style
It's supposed to technically follow some events from the Nolan movies. One of the dvd boxes says it takes place after Batman Begins. Which could help explain why Scarecrow and Ra's never showed up. He aready met them offscreen
I really liked this video ALOT. I talk about this kind of stuff on my channel all the time, but this show means alot to me cause this was my first introduction to Batman when I was 5 and its the reason I fell in love with the character.
I loved The Batman, my favorite animated Batman show, the one I grew up with! Wish they'd bring it back like they did with XMen 97, but I highly doubt it'll ever happen.
One thing I liked about the portrayal of Supes in this series is that he was the loner who Bats had to get to be a team player; a twist on how it usually plays out.
Yeah I was 10 years old when The Batman came out in 2004 and I was immediately in love with this show I didn't compare it to BTAS I saw this as it's own awesome show , also the movie that came from this show The Batman Vs Dracula kicks ass too 🤘🔥🩸🦇🧛
The introduction of Batgirl almost justifies the new theme song which goes from gothic and dark to a more light-hearted homage to the U2 song from Batman Forever and the '66 TV show theme song
If the show does get a Revival The Villains they should use Is Scarecrow Two-Face Mad Hatter Ra’s al Ghul Clock King Crazy Quilt The Eraser Deadshot Merrymaker Reaper The Designer King Shark
As a 90s kid of course I didn’t accept The Batman animated series at first. Same with the TNMT 2003 animated series. But when I did finally watch the series I really enjoy it. I love the more edgy anime style and loved a lot of the new character designs. However, I personally hated The Joker voice and design. Batman Vs Dracula was an awesome movie. And yeah with you, I would love more The Batman animated movies.
I didn't like the new BAT series either,at first, had to watch several episodes to actually enjoy it tho. But,eventually I did, loved the new animation also,it was well done, everything was top-notch and this show.Hope for another run if possible.
Thing I liked most about this show was when it was willing to think outside the box, and has some of my favorite designs of villains ie: Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, even Joker in the straightjacket with the long floppy sleeves
I enjoyed the show, as well as the Teen Titans, (Not the TTGO variation) as well as the 2003 TMNT. It's rare to find people who actually enjoyed The Batman, Teen Titans and the 2003 TMNT. Nowadays it's just TTGO and whatever current version of TMNT is animated.
Fans both new and old are still mixed on this show more than you let on, but one thing I can say for sure is that it clearly had a lot of behind the scenes trouble and had to change a lot to meet Network demands that hampered it from having a consistent identity, hence the jarring tonal shift from moody & mysterious into campy anime Adam West Batman
Very interesting video. It makes all the more sense for why certain characters never appeared because of the bat-embargo. Never even knew that was a thing. I always wanted to see Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, Two Face all three are up there for my favorite villains. With that said though appreciated the styles being changed and that we had interesting redesigns of the characters that did exist. It would have been interesting to see how they would change for sure Scarecrow since he’s never really been a fighter like Penguin.
This should have been the blueprint for how to make a Batman into a movie. You don't need to focus on him being The Worlds Greatest Detective or The Dark Knight, you just got to focus on making him The Batman. Their characters were different but they all work for this universe but they even elevated the metahuman villains to be more than just superpowered monsters, and maybe I'm biased because the Joker of this series was my favorite part but I think they did the best but different interpretation of each Villan.
I’m telling you I like so much the second theme song that I even thought it was the theme song of season 2 AND 3 not only the third season Both theme are great but the second one if more unique so I prefer it
Fantastic video! On top of all your great research, if you through in the fact that the legendary U2 did the soundtrack this is a solid B+ superhero show
I said I won't watch this Batman till his chin is squared off just like the one in BTAS. It took 4 seasons for me to get into this series and when I saw the episode Artifacts which is a nod to the Dark Knight Returns and the current running Batman comic at that time, it blew my mind! That's my fav episode of this show.
This was my favorite show growing up. I made very detailed figurines of Batman, Catwoman and Joker with what I had available -repainting tiny dolls, sculpting new heads in melted plastic, making tiny outfits as close to the cartoon as possible -very rudimentary stuff. They're still kinda cute if I may say so. I loved playing with them as a kid and drawing scenes from the show. Good times.
Batman Vs Dracula scared THE FUCK out of me as a kid. Especially the bit with the redheaded waiter in the basement and the Joker bloodbank stuff. Peak Batman content lmao
I honestly feel like Two Face was unnecessary. ClayFace filled that role. Ethan Bennet was a childhood friend and lifelong ally to Bruce just like Harvey. After Joker drove him insane he developed a darker side just like Harvey. Him constantly trying to be either good or evil throughout the series is very reminiscent to Harvey. And he even got a redemption arc just like Harvey. I’m glad Two Face wasn’t used. It gave more spotlight to characters that don’t get it often enough.
I remembered watching this as a kid, I never missed a single episode. This was like cocaine to me, Still gives me goosebumps listening to that theme, The best intro ever, and the batmobile... So DAMN COOL!!!
definitely a great adaptation worth the watch, and honestly, wouldn't mind Bennet making a return as the Other Clayface, yeah Two-Face already fills the role, but I'm sure those two happening at the same place would be interesting especially if they collide

Also, I couldn't help noticing that the Dracula design was oddly similar to Ra's Al-Ghul's classic appearance. Obviously, we can't prove it, but I like to think they wanted to use him somehow, but got creative with what had. 😂
Dracula is a cool character given there was a comic book where Batman did fight Dracula 😅
Dude, We were robbed for some of these Villains.
Come on, that Scarecrow Design is freakin good. Would've been so good
It is, but using him would've ruined the twist in his episode almost immediately.
@@nicholasfarrell5981
He never was in the show
@@shelbybayer200 because they gave what was supposed to be his episode to Strange after DC ixnayed putting him on the show. The zombie episode was intended to premiere Scarecrow.
Since The Batman couldn't use Ra's Al Ghul, Dracula would've made a suitable replacement. Imagine Dracula still being a vampire but looking more like Vlad III, that could've been really cool.
I can't believe that Ra's al Ghul, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, and Wonder Woman didn't make the cut.
Also two face and Talia al ghul and maybe deathshoot.
Nor aquaman
Dang, that's so lame
Scarecrow and Riddler wouldn't have worked in Unlimited imo but I wonder if that Bat-embargo is the reason Nightwing wasn't included in JLU. Dude was never heard of again after TNBA, not even in Beyond
@@MBGamesHD Well he made a small cameo in the show
That and Hugo Strange got replaced by Dr Moon
Irk? Because who would get Heath Ledger's Joker and '04 Joker confused?
This series was amazing, hopefully a revival is on the way.
Amazing video per usual too!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it, The Batman really was an amazing series
Whaaaaat!??! A revival is on the way?! DUDE I'M HYYYYYYPED! 🤩🤩🤩
But where do you heard of this revival news? Can you tell me??
I LOVED this new BATMAN animated series, bought the entire season series when they came out on dvds.I also liked the teams-up with other JL members during it's run,no other Batman cartoon shows did this. And the intro music for the first season was-GOLDEN-too.I remember in a behind the scenes interview by one of the show-runners,he said SUPERMAN was an alien pretending to be-HUMAN-and i never forgot that quote.
@@SantiBarrios difvyou heard anything about this revival?
My boy Scarecrow CANNOT catch a break 😭
A lot of the time he is just forgotten and when Scarecrow IS THERE, he just does NOTHING. (Cough cough, the Nolan films, cough cough.)
I really hope he gets some Justice in "The Batman 2." He is an AMAZING character.
He also got unceremoniously killed off at the end of Season 1 of "Harley Quinn."
There's a ton of cool stuff you can do with Scarecrow and they never do it.
I agree. i wish DC would make more all ages shows like they used to. These new adult ones are so boring
Plus, just because a cartoon is made appropriate for kids doesn't mean it can't also have quality writing and deep storylines that also appeal to adults.
Justice League Action? Batman Unlimited?
Yh I agree. She was a great original character but her character just served her purpose and there wasn't really anywhere else they could take it
She was a key part of the clayface story arc and showed a lot of growth when she chose to trust batman and team up with him. However from that point on, Batman didn't need her anymore as Gordon becomes his ally from the GCPD, and Batgirl as well as Robin then become his sidekicks
I remember in the finale of S2, yin tries to go with batman as his "partner" to take on joker, riddler and penguin, but batman shuts her down because she's not his "sidekick". Considering in the very next episode, barbara is introduced while yin is written out, its clear that they never intended on making room for yin moving forward as the show was now upping the stakes. It would've been nice having her show up now and again to team up with the batfam, but the writers were always going to prioritise Commissioner gordon and batgirl (as well as robin later on), so it would've been harder to write her in
I don't get why ppl hate this ver of joker, this is actually the only joker that scared me as a child
Wait, when did he appear as a silhouette in Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans?
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp in the sequence where they are explaining the Multiverse with multiple Batman fighting. There's a bunch of silhouettes and they all fight and of course BTAS comes out on top. It's a very brief sequence

I absolutely love the series, but it’s kinda sad that Mad Hatter and Scarecrow weren’t able to be in the series
It's my fav batman cartoon, I wish we'd had these villains, but I'm glad we had some unique characters like D.A.V.E and Prank, and lesser villains like Ragdoll

After what happened with the Young Justice revival, I'd rather they didn't

@@shamusomalley4263 exactly
While it was great to have Hugo Strange use the fear toxin, (wich is accurate to his first appearance in the comics) and okay to have Cayface substitue two face as theformer friend of Bruce who fell into villany; i still think that Scarecrow and Mad Hatter deserved to appear in this serie.
Sure the show had a bit of continuity problem and overused sone villains but im sure they would have pulled off some real nice episodes for these two.
The Batman 🤝 Spectacular Spider-Man
= having your ideas limited and blocked by stupid marketing decisions
Honestly I wish they didn't throw away all their original characters in the third season.
Agree.
Made no sense to stop showing them.
Yin gets mentioned ONCE. ONCE. After season 2. It sucks. Ethan gets to show up one more time at least
The first two seasons were awesome!!! Season 3-5 wasn’t as good imo especially 5.
@IStevenSeagal I did see the show. My issues with season 4/5 mainly is the justice league episodes as this is a Batman show!! Also they abandoned characters I love such as Yin and Ethan Bennett which suck!! My favorite episode was the one with two clay faces through .
@IStevenSeagal Yin still could've made additional appearances in more of a Bullock or Montoya type of role.
I adore this show for bringing in Black Mask - my favorite Batman villain - and making him a genuinely threatening villain.
He is super underrated, and this series really did him justice
Pretty sure this show alone was responsible for creating even more Black Mask fans. Loved the Black Mask in this one.
@@cybrid37 This, combined with No Man's Land. He was written completely differently, but dude was a goddamned menace back then. War Games was I think his next big appearance, & while he did do some truly awful shit there (like torture Spoiler), the overall plot just... wasn't very good.
I love Mad Hatter. I hate that he wasn’t allowed to be used because of a trilogy that didn’t use him anyhow… at least he was awesome in Gotham.
I think something else that makes the Batman feel like a prequel to Teen Titans is a reference to a "Justice League: Teen Division". I mean, seriously, you could watch the Batman, and that line perfectly leads into Teen Titans. Like you could watch 1 and then the other.
Except the Teen Titans got together by accident and their own decisions rather than any official move by the adult heroes.
@Compucles yes, but I'm saying if they're in the same continuity, then the idea existed before the team got together. Meaning Robin was already accepting of the idea and it was sort of inevitable.
That was 20 years ago?
Holy hell!
Man, I loved this show.
This version of Batman is one of my favorites, the design is like, slim but imposing at the same time, it feels dynamic and fitting for a bruce that has trained around the world.
Hmm, it reminds me of my video talking about the cancled or rejected ideas for the show. Hope more people get to watch it
I love this Batman series.
Calling Rag Doll "Rag Man" nearly killed me. You did my underused fav so dirty xD

i love this Batman so much.
But this show did it's best, and I'd say it made a great attempt
Great video btw!
This series was the spectacular Spiderman of Batman franchise the animation and voice acting I've ever seen
the joker even like to through hands
People that worked on spectacular spider-man also worked on this for certain episodes
Yeah XD
It’s amazing how they have so much new life to Batman’s villians, with so much creative and bravos, it’s a a shame we won’t get something like this as I watched it (season 1) and it was an amazing watch and the closest thing well get to this in animation is the new ninja turtles movie (mutant mayhem) with how they reinvented all of the characters in such a new and unique way XD
Nah that's cap
I hope you do a retrospective of Legion of Superheroes in the future.
Bat embargo
The Batman is a counterpoint to Batman The Animated Series. While the animation of the 90s highlighted Two-Face, Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, The Batman wanted to highlight other villains less prominent in the animation of the 90s, such as Riddler, Killer Croc, Hugo Strange, Mr Freeze, Firefly etc... Because the producers of The Batman wanted to get as far away from the Batman 90's Animated Series as possible.
Mr Freeze got a lot of exposure in BTAS lol, even a movie
Still one of the best versions of batman we ever got the clay face storyline was awesome ❤❤ used to record this every Saturday morning
25:54 BEST Scarecrow design I've EVER seen💯
Great Video! Thanks for a refresher on my fav cartoon!
My Hope is that not only this Series got a Revival but also the Batman vs. Hush movie. I Believe this movie could be Better!
They could totally revive The Batman vs Hush idea! It could be a chance to make a better film than the 2019 adaptation
Just underrated animation... nostalgia :`(
The art style was unique and the Batman character i liked as he wasn't as ruthless as the DCAU version by the end of that
I wish they had more women like either black Canary and or Zatanna
I completely agree, it's nice that they considered using Wonder Woman on the show but if she wasn't available then they still should've adapted at least 1 female superhero, characters like Vixen and Black Canary would've looked really cool in the shows' style
It's supposed to technically follow some events from the Nolan movies. One of the dvd boxes says it takes place after Batman Begins. Which could help explain why Scarecrow and Ra's never showed up. He aready met them offscreen
Rojas need to come back in the revival as that version of Lock-Up he have justifiable reason to go on that route to say the least.
Thank you! I thought I was the only person that thought Rojas would make a _perfect_ Lock-Up.
I thought he should've been the scummy police chief in The Batman 2022
I really liked this video ALOT. I talk about this kind of stuff on my channel all the time, but this show means alot to me cause this was my first introduction to Batman when I was 5 and its the reason I fell in love with the character.
One big problem with this whole "Redesign" theme is that all the characters in the League look as classic as possible.
Since this is the first Batman I ever saw, and before I found him interesting, this series holds a special place.
great job man
Great job. Again. You have more than earned a new subscriber. Please don't stop & keep up the good work that you are doing.
fun fact ra's al ghul design was reused for Dracula in the Batman vs Dracula
I loved The Batman, my favorite animated Batman show, the one I grew up with! Wish they'd bring it back like they did with XMen 97, but I highly doubt it'll ever happen.
I've been buying a season every couple of weeks on RUclips. I knew someone would one day bring attention to this underrated series.

This was the Batman cartoon that i first grew up with. I bought the box set on blu ray recently and its still amazing.
Thing I liked most about this show was when it was willing to think outside the box, and has some of my favorite designs of villains
ie: Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, even Joker in the straightjacket with the long floppy sleeves
I’m telling you I like so much the second theme song that I even thought it was the theme song of season 2 AND 3 not only the third season
Both theme are great but the second one if more unique so I prefer it
Fantastic video! On top of all your great research, if you through in the fact that the legendary U2 did the soundtrack this is a solid B+ superhero show
I loved Killer Crocs design and backstory in this series. Hes a coherent and competent villian
I loved this series so much. I also wanted to see Scarecrow, Two-Face, Hush.
The Batman 2004 was a good show, but it shame that some ideas were rejected to this show. I really wanna see Two-Face again in that series
You should also talk about Wolverine and The X-Men.
Back at ma's house i still have the vhs tapes i would record this every week, still some of the most insane animation quality for a weekly show.
