Wow I didn’t know a lot of the villains were reformed. They really should’ve said all that in the show. It helps prove why Batman’s no kill rule is important and effective. A lot of people think it’s stupid since the villains never seem to change and are constantly escaping prison. But this could’ve been a huge addition to the overall Batman character if an episode focused on Bruce explaining to Terry his decision to let his villains live and the episode ended with showing a lot of his former enemies living productive lives
I completely agree! It was kind of a missed opportunity for the series to not showcase how some villains reformed, especially since a lot of episodes from BTAS had already focused on the reformation of some villains trying to better their lives (e.g. Harley's Holiday and Birds of a Feather) so it would've potentially completed the arcs of some characters and shown that Batman's mission really does work in helping even the worst people
Bro that whole argument is strange people will complain about Batman’s no kill rule like the joker is actively killing people in real life and now I’ve even heard that people are arguing about sonic not killing his enemies in his comics
Maybe one of his reformed villains could served as mentor of sorts to Terry. Just because they reformed doesn't mean they don't have any knowledge to impart on him.
In the comic spin offs I remember reading that Mad Hatter was an old man and in a vegetative state due to his mind controlling tech frying his mind and Scarecrow retires from his life of crime and dies of old age. I like the concept of Bane and Mad Hatter suffering from their own weapons and gadgets. Love the Poison Ivy concept, becoming a part of the rainforest. Penguin would probably continue his gang dealings and nightclub, Riddler i could see retiring once Bruce gives up Batman, Croc would have been cool as a return and Two Face I ld say actually being medicated and helped and plastic surgeons in the future heal him
I didn't know that about Mad Hatter from the spin off comics! That's so cool, I really like the idea of some villains ruining their lives due to the items they used for crimes while other villains ended up reforming, it adds a lot of nuance to Batman's history in the DCAU
@SantiBarrios agreed! I like to look back at the episode, The trial and how basically the villains are responsible for their own fates and that would hammer it home with Bane and Hatter. I could Def see villains like Riddler and Scarecrow retiring and or reforming once Bruce retires as Batman. Riddler would have Noone to challenge and, like in Riddlers Reform, would just call it quits
@Ability-King-KK Actually in the comics of Batman Beyond, Killer Croc was locked up underneath futuristic Gotham in the old ruins of Gotham only to mutate into literal kaiju size waiting to bust out.
In a comic that is canon to the DCAU that tells what Batman was doing during the Justice League series it was stated that the Riddler had reformed and become a Private Eye where instead of competing with Batman by committing crimes he decided to compete as Detectives instead.
I've always felt back and forth on the epilogue storyline, yeah it does feel like a bad message that you have to be somehow related to Bruce to be Batman but also like Amanda Waller said Terry isn't Brice one for one genetic he's his son. Terry and Bruce are similar in ways like their sense of Justice and saving people but also extremely different in other ways like their personalities and upbringing and also Terry doesn't have to be Batman he's not obsessed with being Batman like Bruce is Terry can walk away from being Batman anytime he wants to he's not shacked to it but he chooses to stay as Batman because it's the right thing to do. I think this is the message the writers were going for with this Terry is Bruce's son and is related to him but Terry is his own man that choosing to stay as Batman not because destiny or some higher power says he has to but because he chooses to.
I do find it cool how the reveal payed respect to Terry as being a worthy successor to the Batman title thanks to his own merits and that his Father/Son relationship with Bruce is legitimate, but my biggest problem with it is that it's unnecessary, Dick Grayson for example doesn't need to literally be Bruce's son and yet everyone understands that they also have a Father/Son relationship without the need for them to be genetic clones or something like that. But I still think that Epilogue is an awesome episode, even though I might not like the reveal the episode itself was amazing, I loved the Batman and Ace storyline and the scenes of Terry having conversations with Bruce and Amanda, the dialogue and acting were really great.
@@SantiBarrios yeah I agree Dick Grayson did need to be Bruce's genetic son to be a worthy successor and I know right this despite my mixed feelings on the Terry reveal Epilogue is a great episode indeed
To be fair, Terry wasn’t technically Bruce’s “clone.” Genetically speaking, he was the son of Bruce and Mrs. McGinnis. Mr. McGinnis’ “reproductive material” was overwritten with Bruce’s (meaning Terry’s brother is likely also Bruce’s son). Waller specifically went out of her way to point out that Terry didn’t end up being the perfect Bruce copy that she’d hoped he would be. He wasn’t as smart or tactical as Bruce, and he was prone to snap decisions and judgments. The fact that he ended up as Batman was due mostly to luck and the fact that… it’s Gotham. The town’s a total cesspool; something bad was bound to happen to someone Terry cared about eventually. Him running into Bruce was where the luck came into play. On top that, it was the early 00’s, and the “chosen one” trope (as you put it) was really making a resurgence. A lot of major fantasy or superhero series/movie that came out around that time had some sort of prophecy or preordained hero. The whole “every-man” hero story didn’t start to become more popular until around the mid 2010’s. That being said, I kinda like it for this episode due to the drama because you KNOW that Bruce had to have known from pretty much the beginning. I mean, “He’s Batman”, there’s no way he didn’t grab a DNA sample from Terry and run a whole plethora of tests on the thing. I don’t think he was looking to see if there a genetic link between the two of them specifically, but that it just happened to come up when he was running it against the whole database. I mean, his mom’s a redhead. What if she could’ve been the daughter of Poison Ivy or something. He could’ve also been looking for genetic diseases or other sorts of manipulations that’d make him a ticking time bomb. After that, it wouldn’t be too hard for him to come to the conclusion that it was Amanda Waller’s doing since Cadmus and genetic manipulation was her whole thing.
10:26 okay in the JLU Epilogue. It was specifically stated that Terry wasn't Bruce's clone, he was his SON. He was similar to Bruce in many ways obviously but had enough differences too, like how he didn't have Bruce's amazing mind but he still had his heart. But most important of all, he still had a choice. And in the end, he chose to marry the girl he loved. Thats what that episode was about, exploring choice vs fate. Besides, the show did hint at this twist early on when Terry met Superman and rejected his offer to join the Justice League. He said "I guess I'm more like the old man than I thought" Superman then quietly says "More than you know" indicating he took a peek at Terry's DNA and quickly put two and two together.
I agree with you. It wasn’t necessary for Terry to be Bruce’s son. I’m particularly glad we didn’t have Selina cloning him in some nefarious plot to control him. That sounds way too evil for the Selina Kyle that was previously established in BTAS. Sounds like they had her confused with Talia al Ghul.
Also in the Animated series, she gets mutated into an actual cat humanoid. Now her reappearing as that looking for a cure because the mutation makes her not age would have been a great Bruce/Selene moment. Bruce being at Selene's side as she dies as he did with Ace would be a moment that would be Epic.
If you rewatch Epilogue they call Terry both a "clone" of Bruce artificially made with his genetic material and they later make the argument that Terry became his own man through his life choices and he's more so the "son" of Bruce; that's why technically he's both, even though some people may not like it it's still correct to call Terry both a clone and the son of Bruce.
@@SantiBarriosI liked the reveal that Terry is Bruce's son it made sense. I wonder though did that make Terry's brother Bruce's son to as he looked allot like terry and young bruce with black hair.
"Terry's Friend Dates a Robot" was the funniest episode of the whole series and I love watching it. It doesn't have any long arcs...it's just fun. And the snarky commentary...(Howard) "We can still be friends..."/robot goes nuts/(Howard) "Did I say the wrong thing?"/(Terry) "Is it ever the right thing to say?"
I think Dini's blurbs about the fates of the classic rouges are mostly just intended to be jokes, the truth is that the writers didn't give it much thought and we'll probably never know. We know what happened to Freeze, Bane, Scarecrow, HQ, Joker, but everyone else, I'm unsure about.
Honestly. Having black hair while the parents have red and brown air, is really not all that uncommon to be fair. It happens often. Cause brown and black are from the same sort of gene. While not the biggest fan of Terry being a clone. The way they did implemented was very well done. And very well thought out. I watch this series every couple of years or so. Simply because I love it that much! Also, fun fact for anyone who might not know. The blonde in the picture that Tim shows in ROTJ, is Stephanie Brown. (A.K.A Spoiler / The Third Batgirl)
@@WinchesterxNL What you just wrote makes no sense, watch epilogue again. Amanda Waller used cadmus tech to rewrite Mr. McGinnis reproductive DNA and replace it with Bruce's, Terri is the son of Bruce and Mrs. McGinnis.
Amazing video. I completely agree with Terry being better as an Everyman. It also fits with how Dick grayson and Tim Drake establish that a Batman that can give up the pain and trauma of his parents death tends to be a BETTER batman. Terry being a great batman while not being grim is awesome
*21:15** I heard that actually the REAL REASON the show was not continued was due to the fact of Poor Toy sales* _Due to the fact that Hasbro took A LOT of liberties to make more colorful & nostalgia appeal Figures(most of them even resembled a LOT to the toys of the Previous Lines of Batman TNAS) & made a pretty bad Job with the characters, to the point that 90% of the toys were only Batman's & most of the Villains didn't even had a proper Toy_
So because of the Toy manufactures and execs being IDIOTS...they self sabotaged their own toy sales and then blamed the tv series....WB is the most mismanaged company on planet earth I swear. Its a MIRACLE that they're still a thing
I kept expecting Max to become some sort of Robin, as she was frankly the better detective of the two, and because the coloring or her hair and clothes resemble Robin's colors, and she knew Terry's secret. Plus she was a hot black girl and could fight.
I agree, even though most writers from the show seem to be frustrated with Max because Kids WB forced them to include her in the series I've personally always liked her character, and I actually would've liked them to expand Terry's supporting cast even further because the fact he was a teenager with a social life was one of the things that gave him a unique identity compared to Bruce
In the newer Batman Beyond comics, her role is expanded. She is talking to Terry while he is in the Batman suit, and using the Bat computer to support him. I think she finds info on another Batsuit and the League of Assassins in that same storyline. I think they are still canon.
Funny that YT recommended me this video on the same day that Yuhki Demers revealed that he pitched an animated Beyond movie to WB, which of course they rejected. The concept art looks splendid too, man… I miss Beyond and I miss Terry, but I know WB keeps taking the most moronic decisions lately, so I don't wanna get my hopes up. Great video btw, I learned a lot.
I really love Epilogue. Shows my favorite Andera Beaumont being awesome, Terry becoming his own man and a shocking Boys from Brazil plot. I thought it very cool that Waller lined up the nature and nurture for a Batman and never pulled the trigger. ... Until crime again made it's worst enemy. I dig that there was only a few cameos by the old villains and homages like the Jokerz street gang (Nana Quinn was the only thing I liked in The Return of the joker). If they were to include anything I would want a deep cut like an old Tygrus saving people lost in the woods or Bruce having Terry melt newly discovered HARDAC drives or Kimberly Ventrix recognizing Bruce's voice
Batman beyond is still one of the ambitious super hero shows I’ve ever seen, mature and cool, everytime I rewatch it, it’s like seeing it for the first time again
Him being a clone doesn't take away from that original "just a random kid" cuz in essence he was...he learned everything despite it being in his blood...he earned the right
I actually read that one of the concepts for Catwoman was that both she and Bruce would have had a daughter together named Helena. I don’t know where I read this, but it was an interesting idea.
My idea for Riddler is that if he appeared in Batman Beyond is that he had developed a terminal disease so he transferred his consciousness to a supercomputer in an old abandoned factory in Gotham he was believed to be dead by most Gotham residents while others believe he had just gone into hiding.
An AI uploaded Riddler might just have the potential to be Terry's Joker if done right. The evil of Bruce's Gotham was defined by wanton violence and psychopaths, The Joker embodied that. The cyberpunk future that Terry knows as Gotham would be better embodied by someone who has mastered confusion, misdirection, the control and manipulation of information, a skill that has been given so much power by modern technology.
@@j.jonahjoestar7924unfortunately, that role went to someone else that made themselves into AM, but unlike AM, he didn’t hack into the government networks and military communications to cause WW3 but to posses his fleshy grandson and retake his company like a fink.
I know in the recent Batman Beyond comics they made Killer Croc into a giant Kaiju monster that eats people from the underground and Terry and Ratman have to work together to stop him. It's crazy the comics is doing this idea with Killer Croc and making him a giant killer Croc monster. Such I wish the animated show from the future did. Oh well. Maybe the universe reboot will still have that idea intact
I don't need Terry to be Bruce's son, but I think Timm did it to shut up fans who say that Terry isn't worthy of the Batman mantle. Great video, you shed some light on little known facts, so good job on that.
You know, I never had a problem with the storyline of "Epilogue", because the episode makes it pretty clear that Waller was wrong into thinking that Batman's DNA was what would make a proper successor. She even recognizes that Terry is very different from Bruce, and the things he has in common with him are learned and not physical attributes. On the flip side, there's always been an element of mysticism to Batman. The bat that breaks through his window when he asks for a signal, the city itself being built by an architect terrified of demons, even the fact that many of its inhabitants seem destined to turn into monsters by their very names. It's really not that farfetched that Bruce and Terry would meet anyway.
The clone reveal for me is fine. It doesn’t matter if you’re on that bloodline or not since Terry IS just an ordinary kid that accidentally met Bruce Wayne. He still needed to prove himself and build his character which we all love today. It’s what Amanda said You want a better life than the old man? care for the people that are close to you. Which sets him apart from Bruce blood relations or not.
great video! I love batman beyond and as an aspiring writer/director, i've been slowly writing my own adaptation of batman beyond for live action. Sadly i will probably never be able to do anything with it, but with batman already being an avenue to tackle so many different themes, batman beyond opens so many more doorways that are fun to explore.
Thank you! And it's awesome that you love Batman Beyond so much that it inspired you to write, and you should definitely keep writing since it's one of the best creative outlets
Unlike somwe of the writers, I actually like the idea of Terry being with Max instead of Dana, because she never brought anything interesting to the table, we didn't know why he was even with her. With Max we had a more active dynamic, spurned by different viewpoints and stronger personalities with more agency. There also was the obvious lack of secrets between the two. But that's just my viewpoint.
All true! As much as I like Dana, Max was a good choice too. A few times it felt like they were setting up a Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane Watson love triangle
I also like Max, that would have been an interesting relationship. But I also think that they staying friends is also good. Terry staying with Dana makes him a good role model, people should be faithful.
There was some much potential untapped throughout the series that could've expanded to other heroes such as Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern Corps, JSA, Titans, Aquaman etc as well as futuristic updates to Metropolis, Atlantis, Bludhaven, Themiscyra plus include episodes that led Bruce to create the suit prior to the Rebirth episode, the remaining high school days & life afterwards for Terry and the gang as well as showcase the villains like the Court of Owls, Black Mask and the crime families of Neo Gotham.
10:19 I didn't have a problem with that when they revealed it in the show, it made sense to me because for the characters involved, and how it all happened. Terry was not "The Chosen One" nor is knowing that his DNA was changed to make him Bruce's son would make him the chosen one, because of the characters involved, which is why he is not the typical the chosen one type of character that people don't like. Amanda Waller saw Bruce Wayne (Batman) as a great figure who deserved all her respect, to the point where she became obsessed with him seeing how important he was, and she was so convinced of this that she thought no one else could be Batman except for him, so she decided to create an almost identical copy, and probably had a whole plan to shape this kid's life to grow up to be Batman, but why is Terry not just a simple clone or the chosen one to be Batman, it is not because of Bruce's genes, but it is because all the things that happened to Terry which led him to become Batman, the things were not set up, they happened regardless of whether or not Terry had Bruce's DNA, but he became Batman and continued to be Batman because of the course of his life and the situations that led him to the life he has. Amanda gave up on her plan when her killer gave up on killing Terry's parents, because it was wrong and something Batman wouldn't stand for, and was no way to honor the person she respected and admired. With that Terry is not just a clone who was chosen to be Batman because of his DNA, but because of the circumstances in his life that made him seek justice, and where he found a way to get it.
Absolutely agree with your take on Terry being a clone. I always despised it for the same reasons you did. Terry was better off as a random punk with a heart of gold
being a genetic clone of Bruce kind of makes some sense. it implies that the Wayne blood line is cursed to become Batman through tragedy. even his Robins don't keep the mantle of Batman because it's not their fate.
@@colecaldwell4278 He becomes Batman in DCeased when Bruce becomes infected by the virus and in Batman 666 where he gives his soul to a demon to be the ultimate Batman living for a long time to protect Gotham. Damien is also Bruce's only true son since he haves Wayne blood so he is Bruce's heir but also Ra's given his Ra's Al Ghul's Grandson. So in truth he does but first makes an identity for himself since all four Robins have 4 things Bruce have. Dick the master leader, Jason the marksman, Tim the detective, and Damien stealth. All 4 Robins essentially have things that make em Batman. Dick was Bruce's main choice as Batman since he felt he was a better leader than him as well Dick was more hopeful than what Bruce had always dark and brooding even pushed people away. Dick as well knew Bruce then other Robins and people who worked with him more. Lastly, Dick was more cheerful very different than Bruce. Despite that Dick never wanted to be Batman as he felt he would never live up to even that's too much darkness he felt he should take on the mantle.
No it doesn’t. If anything, the Robins would’ve became Batmans as well, because most of the Robins are literally born through tragedy. You’re telling me Dick & Jason didn’t have tragic backstories. The only reason the Robin mantle even existed, was because Dick lost his parents in a circus show, and Bruce didn’t want to have a kid to spend a life the way he did.

Interesting stuff. I always thought there should have been some connection between Cuvier and Kirk Langstrom. In my head I had just thought of the explanation that Cuvier was an assistant of Langstrom's who became radicalized during his time working under him. Then copied Langstrom's research notes, being smart enough to not just steal them. But using those notes and research he eventually worked out an effective way of starting his beast revolution.
there was that one mention of him during 'Return of the Joker' before the flashback story. I understand they do meet up and work together in the comics.
It was cool to see that concept art from Glen Murakami!! It was cool to hear that his "Batman but Spider-Man" idea was the reason he thought Beyond had promise, I really think it's what made Beyond such a success.
12:42 honestly I could’ve seen that happening. It’s not uncommon that some shows do this when it comes to romance or like having multiple potential partners and it even happens IRL. Speaking of personal experience where a friend of mine came to me during her “break up” and heard a few stories too similar too. But wow I haven’t heard half of these and it’s always amazing to see what could have been for Batman Beyond. BB was one of my favorite shows back then and I revisited the show last year and to me it still holds up.
I would’ve loved to see Terry fall into a riddler or even riddler like trap and the radio is jammed so it’s Terry having to use his own wits to get out. I know they did the similar thing with the shriek episode, but I’d love to see Terry completely by himself with only the villain’s voice there mocking him.
That would've been a very cool idea! Terry could've still had a Riddler-type villain even if it wasn't the Riddler himself, maybe they could've done a futur reinvented version of Cluemaster as a villain that psychologically challenges Terry just like the Riddler
On the note of lesser known comic villains being reworked as Terry's rogues gallery, it should be noted that the pilot episode's plot is essentially a reworking of the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics#27 and the introduction of his first supervillain in Detective Comics#29. Like Stryker from 27, Powers is a ruthless business man getting rid of associates for his personal gain and like Hellfern from 29 his gambit involves a newly developed nerve gas he plans to profit from. Like both he is ultimately undone by his own machinations and like the latter he would return morphed and mutated by the experience. To drive the similarity further, the former story also counted amongst its victims a father and son pair, and the latters chemistry project also had its roots in plant experiments.
I would hope these are just "light hearted ideas." First, the idea of all of the villians being reformed (or most of them) is ridiculous. And then the particulars... Two-Face getting his license back and being able to practice law? Harley Quinn becoming President of the US?? That's just stupid.
9:50 I remember seeing it that way when I was first making my way through the episode, but as I watched on, I ended up changing my mind. This is because they make it really clear that you can’t make a Batman, they have to be born without being forced to be. Amanda intended to kill Terry’s parents by hiring Phantasm, but after Phantasm refused, Amanda saw the error of her ways and just let Terry be a normal person. It was still fate that brought Bruce & Terry together, so in the end it could have still been anybody. Even after Terry learns the truth, he still continues to be his own man. It really hit me hard that if you’re going to do these kinds of clone stories, this is the way to do it.
Me too! I'm really grateful that I grew up with Batman Beyond and the entire DCAU, it was the best way to get introduced to the DCU and comics in general
Good video! I have one note: in the future, could you check the sound mix? There were several times in this video where your narration was drowned out by the music.
Thank you so much! And you're right the mixing could've been better, my mic recorded my voice a lot lower than usual so I'm gonna try to fix that next time
I’d like to see an original story involving Jason Todd AKA Red Hood and what happened to him not just in comics and in the Beyond The White Knight storyline but I would still love a Batman Beyond live action movie or an animated movie with animation styles of Spiderverse
I think some of the unused episodes, for BATMAN BEYOND cartoon show, could be used for a new different version of it. I imagine the new version being titled, as (BATMAN BEYOND: OF EARTH-63) & I imagine it has new characters in it, and to add show BatWoman-Beyond in it. I also imagine that a variant of Terry McGinnis, is biologically connected to Richard “Dick” Greyson, Dick has secretly been the 2nd. Batman for many years, after (Bruce Wayne) retired from being Batman. To add I imagine that (Richard “Dick” Greyson) is a widowed man, who has a daughter that he had a fall out with, and he hasn’t seen his grandkids in a few years. In addition I imagine that (Bruce Wayne) is dead in Earth-63 realm, he died of a heart-attack at age:90.
Can’t remember if it was Batman :TAS or Batman Beyond. But there was an episode where a gorilla was mutated. Had super intelligence. He was released into the wild, Bruce said to leave him as he was recognizing him as a kindered spirit. The intelligent gorilla was going to fight for apes/jungle creatures against poachers, etc. if it happened in Beyond, we could have seen Terry fighting Ivy and possibly the Intelligent Gorilla(or his kids) stepping in. Who would the Gorilla have sided with. Also: don’t forget what Barbara told Terry. She told he to go look for Nightwjng. He has some stories to tell. Hoped to see Dick Grayson in that time. Is he still active or did he pass the torch.
True, but I personally can see this happening for two reasons: One: both Riddler and Mad Hatter are quite stylish and have a taste for the finer things in life. Two: Riddler has history being an accountant and mathematical computer genius in Batman media and Jervis, restraining himself from Alice, could help him mentally, as well as physically.🤔🎩💚
Man I wish they'd kept with the white collar crime focus. Between white and blue collar crime, white collar crime is by far the more damaging one, and yet less prosecuted.
Terry is not a genetic clone of Bruce. Waller used CADMUS tech to override the genetics of Terry's "dad" with Bruce's. Terry's mom is still the mom, but Terry's biological father is Bruce Wayne. So...not a clone, but pretty messed up.
watching the Whole DCAU back to back for the past 2 years, wen you start at Batman and finish at Batman beyond, it’s such a dope feeling the first time through bcuz theirs so many episodes from Batman Superman justice league static shock, justice league unlimited then Batman beyond, it feels like one big ass movie I love it
Still an all-time classic, I'm surprised we havent't gotten a Batman: Arkham Beyond game especially now after how subpar Gotham Knights was. It's confusing because I've only ever heard people love the series, we are sadly missing Kevin Conroy now......Great video.
That is not why people dont like this ideia. Yes, there must always be a batman, but there must be always someone especific? If so, why bother do something new
10:23 I completely agree with this. I hated the reveal that he was a clone because it ignores a lot of the concepts built around the idea that it doesn’t matter who wears the mask.
Very insightful and I learned something new today. Thanks man also Batman Beyond movie that takes on the style of into the spider-verse mixed with blade runner would be amazing idea for Batman Beyond movie!

The whole idea of Catwoman cloning Batman and making Terry sounds...VERY out of character for her. Seriously, Catwoman isn't a straight-up supervillain! She's an anti-hero! So what the hell makes her a villain?!
I agree with you too I don't like Terry begin a clone of Bruce and Amanda doing what she was planning is crazy losing your parents the trauma puts you on the path to becoming batman no it doesn't there's no telling what might happen she just Assumed that that's what would happen
I would love to see an elderly Riddler attempting to make a comback What if Gotham forgot all about him and most of of his crimes were attributed to The Joker or some other villain? (He did erase all mention if Nygma from the GCPD in BTAS after all so that could have far-reaching consequences for him) I can imagine him trying to boast to Terry: "The REAL Batman always struggled to best my intellect, what hope do you have, pretender?" Maybe he has Terry go through an updated version of his old Minotaur game? I'm just spitballing here but there's a ton of things he could do
I always thought the fate of Bain was so dumb. They make venom sound like this horrible drug causing long-lasting problems, but yet the dude who constantly pumped himself up with more of it than anyone ever could, just wound up... still alive. Okay, he was stuck in a wheelchair, but dude, at that age, that happens to a lot of people anyway! If a lifetime of pumping yourself with so much venom that the dude made Killer Croc crap his pants, if a lifetime of that much abuse lands you as still alive in the same state that most people his age are in anyway, then how am I supposed to believe that a little slapper of venom is supposed to be dangerous?
Batman Beyond was always my favorite of the DCAU shows, I would love to see a revival either as a new animated show or movie. All the areas I felt like show could have explored, would be such a long list I would be typing too much for a comment section.
As much as I would have loved to see Catwoman brought back in Batman Beyond, I like the version that we actually got in Justice League. It was just more interesting, and also. . . I remember how much I liked Talia in the original BTAS as a kid, how much I used to look forward to seeing her episodes come up in syndication, and how disappointed I was when I found out about how Damian came to be. It was like when you hear about an old friend you didn't keep up with turning into a psycho down the line. It would have been really depressing to seeing Catwoman take a similar evil turn in Batman Beyond.
Batman Beyond and Beware the Batman are Two Series i think can match well together. Infact i think the Idea of the Batman Creating his Own Team Full of Misfit.
In my opinion Terry being a son/clone of Bruce thanks to Amanda Waller meddling around does make sense. If you watch Justice League and Unlimited you’ll find that Supergirl has a clone thanks to her and CADMUS. There’s Ace who was forcefully made to be a super weapon and when she was going to die Waller had a device ready to kill her but Batman purposely didn’t use it. Many high ranking government officials will use their power to get away with all sorts of unethical things. Waller even admits in Epilogue that she couldn’t imagine a world without Batman. Combine that sentiment with a high ranking government official with scientists at her disposal something or someone like Terry would’ve come about. Heck, even in Superman the animated series Luthor made a clone of Superman named Bizarro, but he was a failed clone.
Tom Ruegger said that what killed WB animation was Pokemon, WB didn't create Pokemon and just cheaply licensed it to be broadcasted, but it brought monster ratings. After that WB wanted everything cheap for the same ratings. Tom Ruegger is a producer/animator behind such WB animated shows as Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky And The Brain, Histeria and Freakazoid.
You're right! I've heard about that before and Tom Ruegger did say that on a Reddit AMA, Kids WB getting the rights to air Pokemon for so cheap and its huge success also most very likely had some influence in Batman Beyond (and the rest of WB animation from that time) being cancelled

Thanks for the feedback bro, I had some issues with my mic and it recorded my voice a lot lower than usual but I'll make sure to fix that for my next video (which is gonna be about Teen Titans btw)
Harley's Holiday and Birds of a Feather) so it would've potentially completed the arcs of some characters and shown that Batman's mission really does work in helping even the worst people
@@SantiBarrios That would have made great episode to see. Maybe help Batman Beyond.
At least they did it with harley
Unfortunately for Croc, I think it was confirmed that he died and then taxidermied in the DCAU by time _Batman Beyond_ begins.
@Ability-King-KK Actually in the comics of Batman Beyond, Killer Croc was locked up underneath futuristic Gotham in the old ruins of Gotham only to mutate into literal kaiju size waiting to bust out.
I think that thing with the Mad Hatter, is from the Batman Beyond 2.0 universe which is not canon to the DCAU.
In a comic that is canon to the DCAU that tells what Batman was doing during the Justice League series it was stated that the Riddler had reformed and become a Private Eye where instead of competing with Batman by committing crimes he decided to compete as Detectives instead.
Love this!
Touche' (smile)
Plus there's that episode where Terry was Man Bat, Bruce could've gotten a genetic sample at the time
Plot twists😂
God I hated that twist.
He said "I guess I'm more like the old man than I thought"
Superman then quietly says "More than you know" indicating he took a peek at Terry's DNA and quickly put two and two together.
I just left a comment saying about what Amanda Waller done
I always hated that twist. It was so stupid
@@Master-Worksno it wasnt
@@emperorsean1 It was! It really was!
@@Master-Works Not really. People act like it detracts from anything in the series when it doesn't.
Waller straight up says Terry isn't Bruce's clone.
Yes, TY. It also explains why Terry does not have Bruce's magnificent brain. "Per Waller."
And I like that he wasn't just a "copy" of Bruce. That way, his strengths and weaknesses were unknown and all his own.
Qp
Scarecrow?
Return of the joker is very rewatchable and one of the best Batman movies ever
We're very lucky that we got Batman Beyond as it is. The previous "anime-esque" pitch that was being worked on sounded quite....out there, to be kind.

*21:15** I heard that actually the REAL REASON the show was not continued was due to the fact of Poor Toy sales*
_Due to the fact that Hasbro took A LOT of liberties to make more colorful & nostalgia appeal Figures(most of them even resembled a LOT to the toys of the Previous Lines of Batman TNAS) & made a pretty bad Job with the characters, to the point that 90% of the toys were only Batman's & most of the Villains didn't even had a proper Toy_

@@ShockwaveFPSStudios Nope, Mattel got the licence Between 2004-2019, Before them Hasbo had it & after that Now Spin-Master has it
So because of the Toy manufactures and execs being IDIOTS...they self sabotaged their own toy sales and then blamed the tv series....WB is the most mismanaged company on planet earth I swear.
Yeah I liked max a lot
In the newer Batman Beyond comics, her role is expanded.
She is talking to Terry while he is in the Batman suit, and using the Bat computer to support him. I think she finds info on another Batsuit and the League of Assassins in that same storyline.
I think they are still canon.
Max would have became his Oracle
I expected her to become batgirl and have a pink Bat symbol to match her hair color. I mean it was RIGHT THERE😭
Apparently we might’ve dodged a bullet regarding the Keaton film as apparently they would’ve scrapped the cyberpunk element.
They didn't exactly rejected, the project is in a sort of stand by mode, were no one is working on it, but it isn't canceled
Batman beyond is turning 25 this year man this show is amazing my childhood 😍 ❤️
You're right! I didn't notice that it's turning 25 this year, that's so awesome
WB has a long history of canceling DC shows that were hits
Batman beyond is still one of the ambitious super hero shows I’ve ever seen, mature and cool, everytime I rewatch it, it’s like seeing it for the first time again
Him being a clone doesn't take away from that original "just a random kid" cuz in essence he was...he learned everything despite it being in his blood...he earned the right
I actually read that one of the concepts for Catwoman was that both she and Bruce would have had a daughter together named Helena. I don’t know where I read this, but it was an interesting idea.
That happened in a alternate universe in the comics
@@NovaPrime-91 I know that. I was talking about a possible concept of Helena being in Batman Beyond
@@redlycan5064 Would've loved for that to happen. It wouldve shown that Bruce at the VERY least had some form of HAPPINESS
They kinda did that in the Robert Vance episode

If only Rocksteady made Batman Beyond game instead of Suicide squad.
You got that right.
great video!

What about Damian does he ever become Batman

I just didn't like how Nightwing never appeared or was referenced on the show. Terry should've at least had one adventure with Dick.
there was that one mention of him during 'Return of the Joker' before the flashback story.
I am glad i was able to watch batman beyond as a kid some of the best memories of my life.

I watch parts of Batman Beyond and I love it because of the matured writing that is why.
Riddler & Mad Hatter opening up a men’s clothing store is so funny to me
True, but I personally can see this happening for two reasons:
One: both Riddler and Mad Hatter are quite stylish and have a taste for the finer things in life.
Two: Riddler has history being an accountant and mathematical computer genius in Batman media and Jervis, restraining himself from Alice, could help him mentally, as well as physically.🤔🎩💚

i also hated the clone thing even as a kid
Same, it's been like 20 years and I still get kinda pissed when I think about it lmao
watching the Whole DCAU back to back for the past 2 years, wen you start at Batman and finish at Batman beyond, it’s such a dope feeling the first time through bcuz theirs so many episodes from Batman Superman justice league static shock, justice league unlimited then Batman beyond, it feels like one big ass movie I love it
Great video. Cheers my friend!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Still an all-time classic, I'm surprised we havent't gotten a Batman: Arkham Beyond game especially now after how subpar Gotham Knights was. It's confusing because I've only ever heard people love the series, we are sadly missing Kevin Conroy now......Great video.
1:40 Same here, I was always unhappy the show didn't explore this more often.
I feel like the concept of bane being reliant on venom until thats all he depends on is a brilliant way to kinda say "hey this could be you."
I love that Terry and Matt are Bruce’s sons! There must always be a Batman!
This was awesome. Thank you.
Thank you for watching! I'm really glad you enjoyed it
I remember they had a commercial for kids to submit their batsuit design, and they would add it to the show, but as far as I know they didn’t do it.
Very insightful and I learned something new today. Thanks man also Batman Beyond movie that takes on the style of into the spider-verse mixed with blade runner would be amazing idea for Batman Beyond movie!
A Spiderverse style Batman Beyond movie would be absolutely insane, and the Lego Batman movie already proved that a big budget animated batman film can be successful at the box office so I'm sure it'd be a hit. I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D
@@SantiBarrioshey question where did you find that concept art for the potential Batman Beyond movie? i looked it up and I can't find it
@@tobiaspegues7318 Sure, I found them from geeksworldwide and other websites that reported on the movie back in 2019
www.batman-online.com/forum/index.php?topic=2430.20
thegww.com/report-warner-bros-developing-animated-batman-beyond-movie-for-theatrical-release/
@@SantiBarrios Thanks man really appreciate it. I know James Gunn said animation is also gonna be a part of DC more in the future here's hoping Batman Beyond makes come back
@@tobiaspegues7318No problem! I've been thinking the same thing ever since James Gunn said that lol. I honestly think that eventually we'll get to see a Batman Beyond movie, it's only a matter of time
The whole idea of Catwoman cloning Batman and making Terry sounds...VERY out of character for her. Seriously, Catwoman isn't a straight-up supervillain! She's an anti-hero! So what the hell makes her a villain?!
Depends on the world most times she's a villain
@@ijionclifton9148 I dislike her being a villain. To me, she's just a burglar, not Talia Al Ghul.
I agree with you too I don't like Terry begin a clone of Bruce and Amanda doing what she was planning is crazy losing your parents the trauma puts you on the path to becoming batman no it doesn't there's no telling what might happen she just Assumed that that's what would happen
4:30 "kill me"
"later"
slams freezer door
Warner wasted the chance to make an Arkham Asylum-style Batman Beyond game.
It would be never the same without Kevin Conroy though.
9:58 FACTS. Highly agree. When I found out they did that i was so disappointed. It ruins Terry's uniqueness as a character
Now Terry would fight to save the Animated Multi Verse
I can't wait to see this.
But wasn’t Terry’s dads dna overwritten with Bruce’s dna by Amanda Waller that’s why he’s got black hair
I could never see catwoman wanting to clone batman just so he'd obey her.
I would love to see an elderly Riddler attempting to make a comback
What if Gotham forgot all about him and most of of his crimes were attributed to The Joker or some other villain? (He did erase all mention if Nygma from the GCPD in BTAS after all so that could have far-reaching consequences for him)
I can imagine him trying to boast to Terry: "The REAL Batman always struggled to best my intellect, what hope do you have, pretender?"
Maybe he has Terry go through an updated version of his old Minotaur game?
I'm just spitballing here but there's a ton of things he could do
Spellbinder is basically just Scarecrow though. Instead of showing your worst fear, he shows your biggest fantasy.
You again?! Stop following me!
Honestly I think Terry and Max would've made a better couple
Kriller Croc came back recently as like a Kaiju monster in a Batman Beyond comic
Heck, even in Superman the animated series Luthor made a clone of Superman named Bizarro, but he was a failed clone.
loved the mr freeze episode so sad dark and seeing him just filled with guilt and not being angryover the attempted murder on him
We really need to see Batman's villains reformed for good so Batman's overall theme will finally make sense.
I've heard about that before and Tom Ruegger did say that on a Reddit AMA, Kids WB getting the rights to air Pokemon for so cheap and its huge success also most very likely had some influence in Batman Beyond (and the rest of WB animation from that time) being cancelled
man i dont just remember batman beyond i still watch it! that shit is bad ass as hell!
So valve had the same idea with the whole Mr freeze head
That's funny
there are some parts i could barely hear what was being said over the gackground music. ive watched videos about more complex subjects where i didnt have to focus this hard just to follow lmao
I love how informative this video is and I'm looking forward to whatever you come out with next but PLEASE lower the volume for your music, it's way too loud in relation to your voice and can sometimes be really hard to make out what you're saying because of it.
Thanks for the feedback bro, I had some issues with my mic and it recorded my voice a lot lower than usual but I'll make sure to fix that for my next video (which is gonna be about Teen Titans btw)
