That is so clever, to leak this film clip in the same format we all watched the films the very first time. Took me back to my childhood... watching the chestburster scene from the top of the stairs while my dad watched it not long after vcr release. Gave me so many nightmares. Big chap was living in my wardrobe for weeks... awesome memories
Love the idea of going back to the basics. Old-school, real life, as little CGI as possible. I think every renowned and established Director needs to go back to their basics and do it down and dirty low budget movie to see if they still have chops to be a top-tier Director.
A legacy sequel (or remake sequel, requel, whatever you call it) goes back to the basics of the original but keeps it in the same continuity, as commented by Scream.
wrong, just watch no cgi is really just invisible cgi, its a 4 part youtube video and goes into exactly this topic- most movies that use tons of practical effects still use A LOT of CG, most airplanes, helicopters in movies are cg, even the shipwaves in titanic were added in with cgi... again point is you only notice cg when its bad. i honestly dont understand why movie directors always chose to promote the movies this way but i guess people like yall are to blame and it discredits all the vfx work thats being done... godzilla minus one won the oscar for vfx with a 13m$ budget, and most of the movie is in cg... yes you notice some but with a budget this small it still looks amazing. in the end we shouldnt care about how its done but the result... and as the other person said, look at avatar- its the highest grossing movie ever and its literally 98% cgi and it looks amazing...

That trick with the lighter at 1:27 to light his cigarette with the change of oxygen levels as they enter the atmosphere. I fucking love small details like that to make it feel lived in and experienced.
Yes it does. I watched it yesterday in Germany. And even the sound was brutal. It presses you right back into the seat. Great movie, it gave me just what I wanted. ♥
@@har5814 We're just having fun, chill out. Not all green screen work is quality, throwing it on lesser resolutions can make it look better especially if it's bad to begin with. Since lines aren't as defined, even terrible cgi will look decent.
I'm excited for this. I always thought it was interesting how the VHS quality could actually add to the overall effect of a scary movie. The extra graininess actually helps to make scary scenes scarier, and actors also look younger too because you're not able to see the fine definition on their faces as well.
This looks fn great! The interactions between the actors gives us insight into their personalities and differences as characters without even using too much dialogue. Love it.
I’m so happy that they actually feel/ act like a family unit. I was worried that they were gonna feel like stereotypical young adult characters, always backstabbing, bickering and working against each other, but through even this limited interaction you do get a sense of love and affection between all of them. My hope is to actually feel heartbroken when characters die in this, not just be rooting for the alien the whole time.
Seriously. That's what lacked in the two prequels from the last decade; every single protagonist felt disposable. At a certain point I didn't really cared about their deaths.

Wow, the shots of the take off are beautiful. It's got such a lived in vibe like og Alien and Star Wars. I'm getting a good feeling. The relationship between the android too shines here, him being bullied by the crew. It's great they're expanding on androids. This has got me so excited to see it on the big screen. Right no more spoilers now I'm going to wait until the big release! I think Alien fans will be in for a treat.

a big missconception, its more of how the cg is being used... most shipwaves you see in modern movies or even older ones like titanic were cg... its only because you notice bad cg and then think all cg is bad.
After seeing the movie, I can confidently say there is 60% of CGI throughout the film. Is it a bad news? No. CGI is not bad, its about the overdependence on it, while the studios are not providing support towards the artists. thats why the results are not that great. BLAME the studios and the filmmakers, not the CGI

Very interesting, these new characters seem to have taken a lot of notes from previous movies (Alien and Aliens especially), Bjorn looks like a bubbly-fun tough guy character (if not a bit annoying) not unlike Parker, Hudson (and kinda Apone) or Ron Perlman in Resurrection (forgot his name lmao), Navarro is similar to Kane, being the one that leads the way (literally in the driving seat) and takes the initiative, and first one to get facehugged of course, Rain is reserved and not the most obviously extraverted character at first glance, just like Ripley in Alien and Aliens, but with a quiet strength.
Only have one scene to make comparisons but it's difficult to place Kay - she just seems bright eyed and sweet, there haven't been many of those types in the franchise.

It's hard not to be skeptical after so many sequels have missed the mark, but I'm optimistic about this film and their eagerness to revisit what actually works after literally decades. Even if it's derivative of the first two films, or "just average" overall, I'll still be relieved to just have a sensibly produced "cassette futurism" cosmic horror with the correct tone, and with characters who behave realistically.
Bingo. There's literally an infinite number of stories that could be told that way. They just need to be believable, in this universe: which is meant to be a shared universe with Blade Runner. So it's very rich. With the right artistic sensibilities putting it all together, for music etc: there's no reason you couldn't have great movies again and again. Of course it's going to be derivative; only the first two films have thus far been great. The first is I'd argue: the greatest sci-fi film of all time. The sequel, is probably the greatest sequel of all time; I'd put it even ahead of Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Godfather II. No pressure.
The lighting, framing, costumes, set design, soundtrack and comradory inside the shuttle instantly transported me back into the world of the 1979 classic. I hope this film silences its critics and gives fans the experience that some have been waiting for since its 1986 sequel.

It looks like it's a bootleg-style camcorder recording of a movie theatre screen. Except the picture is horizontally stretched. They over-cooked the faux scratchy VHS audio. Still a fun idea.

One of the things that made the original so believable was how much the crew were all jaded and tired of the mundane and tiresome their situation was. They weren't high fixing each other all the time. It was a job and they all had work mates that got on their nerves. I hope that they keep that grounded mood.
Fede Álvarez actually said that not only did he want to find the right actors for the role, he wanted to find a cast that actually cared for the franchise and it's history 👌

How should they act then? You have a collection of young adults who've stolen a small vessel to go and salvage stuff from a derelict space station. This isn't a squad of marines or commercially licensed professionals. How did you act in your 20's when you were around your friends when doing something slightly edgy? Played up. That's how most young adults are. It's like a right of passage. Obviously not everyone lives that way, but for the most part, that's the kind of behaviour expected.

Wow. Just seeing this trailer tells me this movie will be a hit. Fede should direct an American version of Star Blazers aka Space Battleship Yamato, movie version of Battlestar Galactica(Supposedly their doing a movie in addition to the show) ThunderCats ohh creature from the Black Lagoon

You have a collection of young adults who've stolen a small vessel to go and salvage stuff from a derelict space station. This isn't a squad of marines or commercially licensed professionals.
How did you act in your 20's when you were around your friends when doing something slightly edgy? Just the same, I would imagine.
@@Utoobzz Man, I don't know...I will not act like that. I feel the tone was a little bullshit, that's it. Fot the rest a very hope thet the movie will be good, the actress deserve it. Btw not all boys and girls in their 20's act like that
@@toys_addicted I certainly did. I just let my hair down and had a blast in my younger years. Everything was an adventure and fun was to be had at every opportunity. We fooled around. Laughed. Played up. That's how most young adults are. It's like a right of passage. Obviously not everyone lives that way, but for the most part, that's the kind of behaviour expected.

@@javierfernandezdiez2860 I totaly agree with you, I don't have anything against young adul or young people or baby playing as protagonists of the movie. I hate bad scripting, that's all and the movies that you have mentioned are a good example od this. I don't want to happen again cause i really care about hte franchise. I've born with them
I wonder if the scenery outside of the ships windows were green screened or was a screen projection on the outside, the same as in other shots they did of the actual ship miniature as well as how it was done in the mandalorian!
