- Although this was recorded a little while ago, it seemed kind of apt that we're putting this out now considering the recent news of Henry Cavill putting up the cape and no longer being our beloved live-action Superman in the DCU. We're interested to see how James Gunn and Peter Saffran shake up the DC Universe along with the future of Wonder Woman, The Flash and future installments of The Justice League.

Jaby reacting to DCAU movies. His jaw is going to drop when he watches either "Justice League Dark Apokalips" or "Justice League Flashpoint Paradox". Hell, you should watch The Dark Knight Returns part I and II. Hopefully we get to see more of that!!

Dark Apokolips was the shitty nail in the shitty coffin. Glad it killed off this stupid universe. On nearly every occasion all this series did was take established, beloved comics, and just absolutely shit on them.
@aarswft I agree with you, that movie Justice League Dark: Apokolips War was an absolute abomination and a nightmare which nearly traumatized me and made me hate this, and the writers who did this screwed it up because some in it didn't make sense.
Slaughtering all the heroes we love simply because of Darkseid's brand new paratroopers who are terrifying and superior than Superman, and Superman's ignorance, short-sightedness, recklessness and stupidity that got everyone slaughtered and everything destroyed.
Plus Batman should have known better earlier that Cyborg's tech from Apokolips can be easily hacked through him by Darkseid, who can spy on them by watching and listening through him, which Batman should have anticipated earlier.
I forgot to mention. Maybe even “Gotham by Gaslight”!! Honestly an interesting Batman film.

Lol the " I love you" note hits harder if you've seen the whole series. This is like watching civil war as your first MCU movie.
Even if you don't do the full DCAMU the reign of the supermen is a good follow up
As a person that has worn glasses for most of my life, when I take them off all I hear is how different I look. So regular people in passing when it comes to superman, I believe it works. Now Louis who sees both Clark and Supes like everyday.....that's pushing it.
Many have said that Superman unknowingly has psychic powers, I'm not sure as to the strength of them, but those psychic powers help anyone who sees his face not to recognize them without the glasses.
So the follow up is Reign of Supermen, basically the appearance of Superboy, Steel, The Eradicator and the Cyborg Superman,
The movies in its sequence are awesome. You def need to watch it.
You guys might enjoy the whole continuity of these series. HIGHLY recommended, You guys entered in the middle of this series of 15 movies.
Tbh, the glasses thing doesn’t bother me because it’s low-key real. Co-works don’t recognize me when I have my glasses off.

Shortly before Man of Steel came out, Henry Cavill hung out in Times Square for several hours. Nobody recognized him. Then again that could just be chalked up to New Yorkers not giving a shit.
It wasnt superman that flew away in the end it was the protector from the hologram.
This movie rebirthed my love for animated DC movies and I can't think of anything exceptional that's come out since
In the comic, the way they both kill each other, Doomsday throws a massive uppercut and Superman throw a double hammer fist at the same time after a massive battle
The sequel's title is "The Reign of Supermen"
The story Arc of this and the other films you learn begins with the Flash resetting everything after his Flashpoint Paradox film, and ends with him resetting it again to end the Justice League Apocalypse War film, which basically is the end of The New 52 as well….
The Matrix Revolutions got a lot of its flying boss fight FROM the Death of Superman comic!! That super punch that blew out all the windows... Full multi-page spread that was to that point the most epic moment in comics!!!

From the poses to the power ups etc etc.

I liked how they handled this storyline mostly. In the comic, the version of the JL Doomsday wrecked were honestly a bunch of B-Listers. It makes a huge difference seeing him take out Hawkman and Wonder Woman rather than Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.

The Death of Superman has never been fully put into one novel because it can't. The most you got was an omnibus that brought together the main Death and Return of Superman story arcs, but the series was actually a year long story that went into several titles including Superman, The Adventures of Superman and Superman Man of Steel. Then you had spin off stuff like Bloodlines having several tie ins and Justice League of America and International. All those titles mainly showed the impact but also dives into other heroes trying to take his place like Matrix Supergirl, The Guardian, Steel and even Superboy.
The Matrix actually took heavily from Anime and comic books, so this wasn't taken from Matrix , it was taken from the comics that had pages showing destruction like this.
In the Return of Superman main story we followed -Cyborg Superman, the astronaut you saw believing in Superman ends up an enemy because Superman failed to save him.
-Connor Kent Superboy, a clone of Lex Luthor & Superman's DNA
-Eradicator, a Kryptonian killing machine of sorts
-Steel, John Henry Irons, who's a massive Superman fan & wants to help keep those in Suicide Slums safe.
Meanwhile Superman is in a stasis, he never actually died, but went into a sort of stasis. The Black suit is used to help him absorb the sun's rays quicker.
In the comics he went through both the Justice League & Justice League International. Superman was doing interviews but he had no idea what was going on.
In the comics Superman kills Doomsday differently. I feel like this version was done as a nod to the Man of Steel scene. Him getting stabbed was also a nod to BVS. Lots of love shown to not just the comics but the Snyder films.
Why do you think fans loved this film but hated the Snyder films when both are dark. In fact he's more experienced than Cavills.
This film takes a lot out but it's much better than Superman: Doomsday.
Yeah this was part of the New 52 era of animated films.
The Doomsday in BVS was different, he was Zod mutated with Lex's blood.
the reason why Batman versus Superman man didn't work was, BvS was out of place.
In the comics the showdown between the two didn't take place until decades into there friendship / careers. Witch made it more dramatic.
The animated films are amazing!
But its funny how Man of Steel and BvS pulled so much from this content and visual cues, yet there's so much vitriol towards those films.
I never here people complaining about Superman fighting and destroying a city in this and other animated films, the idea that Superman HAS to kill the opponent that is hell bent on complete annihilation of life makes sense in animation; but apparently not in live action lol

BvS was objectively a bad movie... bad concept, worse the cut, and the CGI Doomsday was atrociously bad..
i liked the Batman vs bad guy fights, but overall 3 diferent storylines where smashed together into one movie.
many didnt liked it, cos they remember reading the more positive less less "real" tone wise, comics as kids young adults, and they cant let that idealistic kids stuff go..
they dont like the tone cos its more "real" and not "Fun" like the MCU, which absolutely lacks the feel of real, they are even upbeat when in reality people would be depressed, cos we dont want people feel like that watching stuff cos we want to make all the money possible.., except the Captain America: The Winter Soldier that felt more "real" tone wise..

The figure taking the jacket and escaping from the lab was Superboy.
In the comics the justice league was destroyed by doomsday. A couple of the justice leaguers were injured and someone was killed if I remember correctly.
I like the explanation that clarks glasses are made of some kind of glass that hypnotizes or something so they can't tell its him.

In the comic books originally doomsday could literally adapt and evolve his physicology and abilities to counteract his opponent's abilities or any weakness they were able to take advantage of for example there's a moment where either Superman or somebody else steps doomsday in the ears to great effect and then next thing you know doomsdays ears have retracted into his skull no longer there to use against him
The only thing that got exaggerated with Doomsday was that he never had each vision in the comics.
Also the line up of JLA'ers wasn't accurate. It was mostly the B team lead by Guy Gardner as Green Lantern. No Flash, Cyborg, Wonder Woman or Batman.

Batman is a peak human, man even did a suplex on Grundy by using strength and Grundy's own momentum against him.

Kinda wishing you started from the beginning with Flashpoint and Justice League War, and not like, 10 movies in, haha! Each movie in the series assumes you've seen the previous one, so they don't always give you exposition that you might not know otherwise. I actually like that, since it would bog down movies if they constantly had to explain or show the same stuff. Take Superman and Wonder Woman, for instance. They met in Justice League War and started a relationship after and through following movies, but in this movie, they break up and Superman and Lois Lane start dating. You wouldn't know that if you didn't watch the previous ones. Or like, how Cyborg mentioned Apokaliptian tech and Darkseid, who was, again, set up in previous movies. Even him being made of Apokaliptian tech was shown in his first appearance in Justuce League War.
If you watched say, Justice League Dark: Apokalips War first before any of the other movies, it would be like going into the MCU blind and just watching Infinity War or Endgame without watching ANY of the previous movies. It's the big finale, you know? Someone else I watched did that and watched Apokalips War without any of the previous movies and went "oh they didn't build up to this, it didn't feel earned"... obviously if they didn't watch all the build-up it wouldn't feel earned, haha.
Surely, Andrew "The Commissioner" Gordon makes more sense with his robust mustache.
Slight correction on the comics version of the Death of Superman. The Man of Steel didn't die from exhaustion(although both he and Doomsday were running on steam)but from a PUNCH from Doomsday as well as accumulated damage from their fight(in one issue Doomsday actually CUT superman"s stomach with his spike thingies)
yes, the justice league were there in the comics. just like in this film the justice league fought doomsday before superman and they almost all died. but it was different members, like fire and ice and guy gardner. i will never forgot how dirty doomsday did my girl ice.
Yes it was the B team taking on Doomsday. Green Lantern Hal Jordan was off planet at the time. I think Batman was still recovering from his battle with Bane. I'm not sure wear the Flash or Cyborg was.
Also Lex Luther didn't participate.

There is a documentary about Death of Superman comic.
The writers planned Superman's wedding storyline but they found out the writers of Lois and Clark tv series were doing a wedding story so they couldnt do one at the same time. The comic writers had a brain storming session and had nothing and then someone said Why not kill Superman.
Note Superman has been "killed" before but with poison or guile this was different they planned to kill him with brute force hence Doomsday
There is even a comic section about Clark Kent's funeral. As we saw Ma and Pa Kent was not acknowledged in Superman's funeral. They had a private ceremony at the farm burrying Clark's childhood keepsakes.
After the Death of Superman all four Superman comic production teams stopped for a few months and released no new comics.
Then they did the reign of the Supermen each production did one of the Supermen Cyborg, Erradicator, Steel and Superboy😮
Well see here's the thing with the glasses, he uses his psychic powers so that people who do see him without the glasses don't recognize him and or depending on the iteration those are Kryptonian glasses

The Death of Superman should’ve been done YEARS down the road... Snyder F*cked it up in BvS. Giant Missed Opportunity. When I saw BvS in the theater I felt NOTHING when Superman died. And that was EXACTLY when I was DONE with the EnTire DCEU. Bring on the NEW DCU.

I like the comparison you made between Hulk and Doomsday for that's what basically he is a Kryptonian Hulk plus he can adapt .
I actually think that Superman's death in Superman: Doomsday was more emotional than it was depicted here or maybe it's because I felt more emotional with seeing him die in Doomsday that seeing him die in this movie did not had the same emotional impact to me. But it is indeed a good movie

Well, technically it was Batman Mask Of The Phantasm in 1993, but with all the DC animated movies its started in 2008 with Superman Doomsday
The glasses thing with Superman has been proven to work, film theory did a short on it and there's other videos about it as well.
you really should watch this entire series up until justice league dark : apokolips war. it's basically the DCAU version of avengers endgame and it is fucking epic. but you need to start at flash point paradox then justice league : war and go on through until apokolips war for the full effect :)

In the comic Superman and Doomsday go for a final punch and "kill" each other. As for the Justice League, in the comics the main members were all set up in their own comics to be off world with their own missions so Superman can be alone. Smaller heroes tried to take on Doomsday before Superman arrived like Booster Gold and Guy Gardner.
Now you have to watch The Reign of Supermen. Also in the comic its Justice Leauge International i think fighting Doomsday which more like the b-side characters and not the main Justice League.

25:00 In the original Doomsday beat down a League B team and both Doomsday and Superman just beat each other so badly they die from the wounds. In later iterations Doomsday does plow through A League members such as in New 52 Doomsday shatters Wonder Womans arms in a single punch.
This movie is incredible and in my opinion one of the greatest superhero movies of all time

DC animation is the best, Batman Beyond return of the joker is one of my favs along with Justice league doom, Mask of the Phantasm, and dark Knight Returns and Under the Red hood and there's a movie order for the one you just watched
Y'all should definitely check out Superman Doomsday. It's a different take and different animation style. I think this one's closer to the comics but personally I like to fight more in Superman Doomsday. It's also done in the animation of Justice League and Justice League unlimited. It would be really cool to see y'alls take on the death of Superman compared to Superman Doomsday

If you guys are not gonna watch the whole DCAMU, at least watch the Reign of the Supermen (2019) which is technically Part 2 because this is a two part movie. Reel Rejects just watched Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox and is potentially going to watch the rest of DCAMU so I hope you guys would watch this group of movies as well.
Yeah I think this was Jaby’s first DCAMU movie on the channel but I would love to see him react to more from the universe. They really were some good movies that DC fans could enjoy despite the DCEU being a shitshow.
I wish jaby to react to all DC animated movies.... man.. the end will really make everyone sit at the edge of the seat
