As for the game story, it is truly one of the greatest and most profound stories in the entire comic book genre! DC Comics told Netherealm Studios that they had free reign to make their own original story and my god did it pay off. The idea of how our greatest heroes can fall and become villains, while also still being heroes in the eyes of some people (in particular those who believe in imperialism). And the comics that cover the 5 years in between the Lois Lane’s death and when the heroes from the PRIME universe are some of the best written stories in all of comics. Because like Game Of Thrones, NO ONE is safe!
This story was complete ass written by one of the greatest Batwanker writers in comic history.
@@Agent-57 Yeah, fr. You enjoy this story when you're 13 and it's like oooh heroes bad now but now I think evil superman is the laziest idea you could have. Also the story is obviously badly written to justify fighting. And I love batman but these games have a serious hard on for him.

Even if I ignore how out of character everyone is, example Luthor who would kill Joker and every villain in Gotham before he would let someone bomb metropolis.
The debate about not killing terrorists is completely asinine. Joker had killed Millions. Batman wouldn't even be allowed in the same room. He wouldn't live 10 minutes after that incident much less be allowed back into Gotham. Like seriously do you think the public or USA will just let this slide ?
They would hang Joker and Harley and then hang Batman from aiding Joker all those years.
And the brings me Harley. Directly involved in killing millions, her punishment ? A joke session with Green Arrow. Also the argument of "She was just manipulated by Joker" is bs. Joker is dead but she still kills Arkham guards and causes a Riot.

Small word of advice to Jaby, if most of your existing knowledge of some of those characters is from the movies I really recommend forgetting about that because these games are more based on the comics whereas the movies take massive deviations from the source material. The stories of the Injustice games are mostly for fans with pre-existing knowledge of DC comics and assumes that you are already familiar with them.

What I love about Injustice is that if you are a fan of both Superman and Batman and so used to them being friends you feel divided since you can understand Batman's point of view and you can understand Superman's point of view at the same time. I hope you guys enjoy this and the sequel and I hope they will do an Injustice 3 if they can think of the right story of course but I understand that they are concentrating on Mortal Kombat 1 at the moment.
The comics do a great job of fleshing the characters out as well.
I would love for them to make an injustice 3. I've always wanted to see the story be some version of Blackest Night. Have all the dead that Superman and his regime are responsible for come back to life as black lanterns kind of like the Revenants in the Mortal Kombat series. Have black lantern skins for returning characters like Shazam and Beast Boy. And for cutscene purposes you can have black lantern Lois Lane haunt Superman to show him the error of his ways and make that his redemption arc.

@@HygorBH I don't hate Superman because we got to see in between the 5 years where he killed Joker and the first Injustice game. He didn't come out swinging as a dictator, but tried to do things the 'normal' hero way, and came to butt heads with Batman on the philosophy of killing. I think it was after Dick's death that things started going downhill faster.
Now Diana, I really didn't like her. Felt like from the way she was written, she was just waiting for a moment like this to happen so that she could worm her way into Clark's life and become the ultimate power couple of the universe. Her and Sinestro were the ones in Supe's ear the whole time nudging him down this path.

Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman are voiced by Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg and George Newbern who had voiced them in the DCAU (DC Animated Universe) which is comprised of Batman The Animated Series, Batman Mask of the Phantasm, Batman and Mr. Freeze: SubZero, Superman The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Mystery of the Batwoman, Batman Beyond, Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, Static Shock, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. The story of Injustice is inspired by an episode of Justice League called "A Better World" where the Justice League fights another version of the Justice League from a different Earth.
Don't forget phil lamarr he also played john Stewart in injustice as well

In terms of the timelines, I believe it was mentioned passively that the alternate timeline with the evil Superman is 5 years after the events of the explosion. Which means when they jumped timelines, they also jumped 5 years into the future (of that timeline). When they fight themselves, they're fighting their counterparts that are 5 years older/younger than them, depending on the perspective.
the librarian dude from atlantis said that the nuke went off 5yrs ago, so we can assume that it's 5yrs into the future, but now as i think about it, we do not know are the events in both dimensions on the same "timeline", are the normal dimension's nuke and injustice's nuke suppose to kaboom the same moment?, or the injustice one blew 5yrs before normal? so they might by same age in both universes... i don't remember if the comics or the game(s) dwell on this any more...
I thought they were in different dimensions not timelines. Because then they would've created a time machine instead of what they built. Also when evil Superman scans the wrong Batman he says that his DNA matches Bruce Wayne but "his vitals are all wrong" implying this is a different Bruce Wayne not just Bruce from the past
Except to our knowledge there were 2 more differences, than just the 5 year difference. Firstly Joker chose to put the trigger of the nuke inside Lois Lane, instead of just holding onto it himself. And secondly the fact that Lex Luthor never became a villain. So it is an alternate timeline, not just what would've happened 5 years in the future if the nuke was triggered.
Injustice has a series of comics that each book takes place in the 5 years and covers most of the characters development as how they ended up to this point where the world is run by Superman’s Regime and the overall world building as to how things ended up where we are.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND the comic, years 1-3 were really good

The only sucky thing about injustice is it influenced how a lot of people think these characters should be portrayed in other media. Especially the evil superman trope.
Reminds me of what happened with Watchmen, the management at DC, Marvel and many Comic-Book creators only chose to look at the edgy, subversive and deconstructive elements of the story, not at the mastery of it's story and themes. To the point, Alan Moore the guy that wrote that story, apologised for his impact on superhero comics.
@nnnnmhughuuhhjiijj9457 To be fair, it wasn’t exactly the act of Watchmen’s doing. For the time, The Night Gwen Stacy Died and its sequel issue was very dark for a comic book superhero. The Night Gwen Stacy Died was a landmark in comic history since it dealt with drugs and the death of a loved one by the hero. The comic ended the Silver Age and began the Bronze Age of comics.
Notice the Superman statue. in our universe Superman was holding the world. In the injustice one superman was standing on the world.
In this alternate timeline where the bomb does go off, it went off 5 years ago.. however both universes are happening at the same time. They are all the same age, only events happened in a different order.
I would say a pre existing knowledge and understanding of the characters outside the films may be helpful.
As for the quips after the end of every fight, I think they were added in so the gamers can take a breather after playing the fight, and potentially losing over and over. A rub it in your face moment to the npc

Oh heck yeah! Injustice has one of my favorite DC stories, across both games and the comics. Some people don’t like it because it “ruined the images of characters” however if you know the characters, this is a very different experience of every characters ideals.
I love the Injustice storyline! It’s like a civil war among super-powered people and puts a unique perspective on where each on stands on justice.
Superman has been in charge for five years at this point. There’s a comic book series that follows each year. Also the reason it doesn’t seem to develop characters is because it assumes players have already followed at least a couple of the character’s comic runs.
11:43 of you like Batman’s voice I’ve got some news. Kevin Conroy voiced Bats for 30 years in various cartoons, movies and video games. Sadly, we lost him to cancer last year. I got genuinely emotional. His is THE voice of Batman for me. I hear his Bruce Wayne and Batman whenever I’m reading the character’s dialogue. Only two other celebrity passings made me feel as sad. Leonard Nimoy and Stan Lee.

One thing about this game, this is the same voice actor for Cyborg on the Teen Titans series, Khary Payton. Also, Harley Quinn who is voiced by Tara Strong who is ALSO the Teen Titans series (formerly as Raven).

It's fantastic. I got the games and some of the comics. I saw the film of Injustice I thought it was rushed and should have been a TV series like Invincible.
Comics Explained it, Batman and Superman had been fighting for 5 Years until Batman decided to pull Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Green Arrow into his Universe.
I wonder if Zack Synder was inspired to make the "Batman Vs Superman" movie based off the story of Injustice , that would mean Injustice was the 1st "Bats VS Supers" showdown i had ever missed........Damn😫 12 years too late........
Injustice has a really in-depth and celebrated comic that goes into all the details of this other universe. It’s a good read (until it isn’t) if you ever want to check it out.
The voice of bane in this game is closer to his Latin American to Caribbean roots.
With Injustice, I've always liked the idea that the universe is basically just the regular DC universe, but the only major difference - the one that sent everything wrong - is that Superman and Lex Luthor are FRIENDS.

It’s hilarious that the in universe answer they created for why these human heroes don’t have their chest caved in from a Superman punch is “super drugs.” Taking a pill makes them invulnerable but no other powers and with no side effect.

Injustice & Injustice 2 are the only 2 video games I’ve played in the last decade and basically the original reason I even have a game console.
I wish the play through you found wasn’t done on easy mode so you could see the characters build up to a “supermove”! Most are awesome, but Batman and Joker’s are the best.

Answering your question. There was a small Dialog when Jason Monoa was talking to the old man. 5 years has passed since the bombing. For the current team it just happened. So this story takes 5 years into another dimension future

5 years.. this story happens 5 years after the intro sequence. They mention it in one of the cutscenes(Aquaman's minister briefing him)
Fun fact about this game they bring back all the original voice actors from the original Justice League cartoon except flash and Shazam

Well, the game came out years before The Dark Knight Rises, which had the Bane voice that was parodied in that cartoon.

If you want to explore the events that happened in the time gap after superman killed joker. There are comics which were released to explain what happened during that period and lead to the point the game picks up when they brought the other heroes to their universe. If you want something quick to explain. There is an injustice animation movie too.

If you’ve gone and watched this much, maybe you should check out the cutscenes for Arkham Asylum. It’s pretty good.
Another idea like that is either playing or watching some of the Telltale Games like their Batman games, Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, or Guardians of the Galaxy.
Telltale Games is like having interactive cutscenes. There’s a couple games like it from different studios like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.
Watching someone play a telltale games game can either be entertaining or boring. For telltale Guardians of the Galaxy I would recommend watching Zackscottgames playthrough. It’s weird and wacky and full of pep… but he actually makes a lot of good decisions in pathing in that one.
Anyway it’s an idea and it could be another thing to do. Hope you look into it and give something or all of this a try. I think it could work for the both of you and as far as gaming goes, it an easy way of playing something you and Achara could get into for this channel.
The Kingdom Come Superman is the best Superman he went through a similar thing as the Injustice Superman where he lost everything, Joker released Joker Gas on the Daily Planet killing everyone and Lois finding a Gas mask in time didn't die, until she tried ambushing Joker and god her skull smashed in from a Crowbar. So he lost everything as well but stuck to being himself, as another more merciless Hero took over killing the Joker and the world support him. Superman takes to retiring. Until he needs to return for the new heroes couldn't handle the new danger.

Ive come to realise that i prefer the first game to the second.
Better story, better cast of fighters, and featuring the OG heroes helps dull the bitterness of the Injustice overlords (unlike the second game when we have to deal with Superman's Rebound Girl for the whole game).

To answer Ichara's question, there's 3 I can think of( one is kind of referenced by Zac Snyder with the knightmare future) aside from the ones you mentioned. 1 is the earth X timeline where the Nazis won World War II. Thereby making most Heroes such as Green Arrow The Flash Supergirl into nazis( Superman and Supergirl in this world are known as Overman and Overgirl). The next one is one where instead of landing on Earth Superman was instead nabbed by Darksied thereby making him a hearld like Granny Goodness. And the final one is the criminal Syndicate Universe where heroes are villains and villains are heroes this is the one where instead of being found by the Kents Superman instead found by somebody like Lionel Luthor(in some versions) in this version of the timeline Superman is a criminal mastermind known as Ultraman Wonder Woman is known as Superwoman and Batman is known as owl man. Each of these instances Superman was not raised by a kind pair of farmers but instead raised in circumstances to make him into a lunatic dictator. What's unique about Injustice is Superman was a paragon of virtue up until he was mind tricked into killing Lois and his unborn son.
Captain Marvel was Shazam's first superhero name chile and I personally love Sonya's look in this game and if you look closely they definitely have the Dead or alive physics in Sonya.
This game started the comics and gave the Evil Superman idea to Zack..it all came from this game and the comics are great

The alternate timeline where the bomb went off..was 5 years into the future after the bomb..as compared to the one where the bomb didn't go off..cyborg said it that 5 years have passed since the bomb went off when they were torturing..deathstroke.
There are Comics for Injustice Gods Among Us that is around the universe with the evil Superman
The comics explain the story in more detail and actually show the events leading up to where the main story in the game takes place
If you haven’t read the comic storyline, it explains what happens during the five years after The Joker’s death and the Year 5 Volume lines up into the videogame’s events. It’s a good comic book but it gained a lot of controversy for some of the things it did. But it’s still a good read

Interesting, I felt like there was a lot of development in just 30 minutes.
As soon as everybody gets warped, it establishes that there’s a mystery. Where, and or when are we? They split up to investigate and rather quickly put the pieces together that it’s an alternate Earth that’s being run as an autocratic dictatorship by Superman and his cronies that include a bunch of heroes and villains, most of which have been coerced into supporting him. He’s managed to cut down conflict by enforcing very violently his idea of a peaceful society. We also learn that there’s a group of insurgents lead by Batman who was the one responsible for bringing our heroes over cause he needs their DNA to access a weapon he can use against Superman.

Shazam was never a comedic superhero although yes he is just a kid who turns into an older dude through the power he still wasnt a goofball like how DC portrays him in the movies. IMO this version of Shazam would've been way better for a movie. and yes Multiverses has ALWAYS been a thing from the comics so we could possibly get more movies about them in the future.

If you want a dark version of Superman, then I would suggest Ultraman. He's Kal-El from an alternate reality. However, he's evil and fights alongside evil counterparts of the Justice League. Even worse, kryptonite makes him stronger.
