To me, I love Kane Hodder's Jason because he makes Jason seem so aggressive and angry compared to all the others. This jason feels pissed off all the time.

the reason I like Kane hoder as Jason is that he is the most dedicated Jason actor, that scene where he is on fire his suit broke and he still holds the Guinness world record for the longest uncontrollable fire and Kane went through it. but I understand if you don't like Kane or not

Garrett Nichols Kane is good agreed but not the best and it wasn't his fault he got a shitty script with a better script he would have been the best but I do love Kane Hoder.

Garrett Nichols no doubt I have never hated on his dedication and I know he can't help the scripts but all in all Kane is a good dude and more Iconic then the rest. He took Jason to the mainstream like going on Areseno Hall show but as mentioned got stuck with bad scripts. And brought more life to Jason.

Friday the 13TH part 7: the new blood is my personal favorite Friday film it has great story with Fake Carrie (Tina) vs Jason it was totally badass in the finale of the film and Kane Hodder did a great job at playing Jason looking menacing, pissed off,and badass to kill all his victim's. This movie kickass Cody great review.

The reason I love Kane Hodder is because the Jasons he portrays has the coolest looks except for Manhattan, his build really fits Jason more than the others, and his flexibility in stunt work makes it easier to film Jason bearing up people as well as Jason getting beat up, which have led to some really iconic moments.

  • @xxoxia

And yeah, the characters are pretty hard to get to know in this one. Let's see... there's:
    Telekinetic Tina
    Tina's Mom
    Dr. Takes Advantage Guy
    Star Mummy
    Hot Bitch Melissa
Cliche Chisel Chin Guy Who Wants Protagonist Girl
    Black Horn Girl
    Black Guy
    Ocean Couple
    Sleeping Bag Girl
    Nerd Girl
    Fake Hot Joint Girl
That's all I can remember, haha.

What I have heard is that the original negatives of the deleted scenes were destroyed in 1991 or so. The one responsible for that decision was the same as the one who thought it was better to let Tina's dad jump out of the water without the zombie make-up. I had high hopes for a full unrated version for a long time.. but yeah, thanks a bunch MPAA and producers.

eh to each his own. me personally Part 7 is one of my favs in the franchise. unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see a Unrated/Uncut version because if I recall the footage that was scrapped either was lost or damaged beyond repair so getting a Uncut version is next to impossible. which is a shame cause the kills looked wicked

Agreed. He's good but definitely overrated...Ted White from part 4 was the best Jason imo, plus he was pushing 60 years old when he did that movie and had mad energy for the character...Especially for a man that age..Plus he was a stunt double for John Wayne back in the dag...Now that's cool.

I meet Kane Hodder and I think he is the best Jason but it does suck so many of the kills are edited down thanks to the MPAA which does hurt this movie a lot, though I think the sleeping bag kill is iconic and Kane Hodder told us it was a pain in the ass to do it! I said this in Lee's review I think the ending should have been Tina resurrects her father in zombie form and all of Jason's victims from the movie come out of the lake and grave him and pull him down to the bottom of the lake and he disappears into the ground, that would have been a cool death! One last positive note, I thought the music score for the movie was really good, it was intense!

Ur right why is Kane Hodder the only "Jason" beloved?

    • @jesusramirezromo2037
      @jesusramirezromo2037 4 года назад +6

Because he was the only one that played him more than once
Plus, unlike previous jasons, he has alot of personality
For example the final chase scene of jason unmasked, you could tell he was frustrated and angry, compare that too Part 3, 4, or 6 where he was just a bulking brute excited too kill

    • @jacobreeve4373
      @jacobreeve4373 4 года назад +2

@@jesusramirezromo2037 I wouldn't call that personality exactly. Most actors were paid garbage for these films. Kane was the one that didn't care and just liked playing Jason. The other actors were playing around with the psychology of Jason. And, the emotions of the other Jason iterations were expressed in their actions as opposed to their facial expressions. Jason wears a mask. This just the movie where his mask was removed deliberately to show off Tina's powers.

    • @07foxmulder
      @07foxmulder 3 года назад

He’s a garbage Jason. He’s always looks like he’s out of breath and carrying luggage. The actors in 2, 3, 4, 6 and the remake were so much better than Kane Hodder.

I always felt that this specific film had the potential to be so special. I wished the Tina would have come into her own and mastered her powers from the beginning. It would have been great to see her as a strong woman. It would have been awesome to see this as an action/horror film. They could have done so much with special effects.

  • @sickskoobie6768
    @sickskoobie6768 6 лет назад +3

The New Blood is actually one of my favorite films in the franchise. The look they gave Jason in the film is my number one favorite look for Jason. But I absolutely agree, the MPAA did butcher this film all to hell by making them edit down all of the kills and unfortunately there can never be a special edition director's cut with all the kills added back in to their entirety because Paramount destroyed all the extra footage that they had to cut out of the film in order to get an R rating. And Kane Hodder is without a doubt my favorite Jason.

To cody: first of all let me say I agree with you about liking ted White's , C J Grahms and Richard Brooker's performances as Jason. That said I believe the reason Most fans cite Hodder as the definitive Jason is the fact that one he has enough passion for the character to come back 4 times and would have done it more at a time when the others were loathe to admit that they they were in one let alone return even once . And secondly he added little nuances to the character such as breathing and body moments that have become iconic.

Kerry Noonan, who played Paula in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986), read for the role of Tina when she thought the title was "Birthday Bash." She quickly realized that it was a Friday the 13th film and confessed that she'd starred in the last movie, so John Carl Buechler decided not to cast her.
During filming, Kane Hodder's dressing room was a quarter of a mile down a dirt road. One night filming ended at 2 a.m. and while still in the Jason costume he decided to walk through the woods on a path to his dressing room. As he was walking someone approached him and asked if he was with the movie. He didn't reply, because he thought it was a pretty stupid question to ask, as he was standing there in full Jason costume. When the man asked again, Kane took a little lunge at him and grunted. The guy took off, tripping and running. The next day director John Carl Buechler told Kane that the local sheriff was supposed to stop by, but he never showed.
Director John Carl Buechler has publicly fumed many times over the years about the number of edits required by the MPAA to avoid an "X" rating. The film had to be submitted nine times to the Motion Picture Association of America before being granted an "R" rating, and it stands as arguably the most heavily censored entry in the 'Friday the 13th' series
Jason's mask in this film was cast from the same mold as the original mask from Friday the 13th: Part 3 (1982), but was modified slightly. In addition to the damage seen on the mask (the axe cut and propeller damage), the edges of the mask have been trimmed to make it smaller, to allow more of actor Kane Hodder's head to be seen.
During filming producers hired Leslie Buzbee, the local 'gator man,' to be the alligator wrangler and keep gators away from the actors. But since alligators are not active in the winter when they were filming (October and November, 1987), they ended up paying him to do nothing but watch the lake.
Kane Hodder's costume and hockey mask worn in this film are now owned by the Friday the 13th Props Museum, owned by Mario Kirner.
On the Deluxe Edition Blu-Ray commentary track, star Lar Park-Lincoln notes that while she and co-star Kevin Spirtas didn't initially get along on set, a mid-2000s convention appearance brought them together under much calmer, non-film-related circumstances. They soon began having dinner after an appearance regularly and soon after become very close friends. She even noted that he sang to her daughter as she took the crown for Miss Texas just some years before the commentary. The two now chuckle that they initially didn't get along yet now are very close-knit friends.
This film serves as the longest Jason appeared onscreen unmasked.
This was the last 'Friday the 13th' film to use footage from any of the previous films. In addition to showing footage from Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986), the opening montage also used footage from the official theatrical trailer for 'Jason Lives,' including the slow pan shot of the cemetery and the exploding headstone.
John Carl Buechler was so impressed with Kane Hodder when he ate live worms on the set of Prison (1987) that he pushed for Paramount Pictures to let him cast Hodder in the role of Jason. If it had not been for Buechler's persistence, the role of Jason Voorhees would have been reprised by C.J. Graham.
Final role for Walt Gorney, who was the narrator in this film and Crazy Ralph in the first two entries.
Any hopes of a complete, uncut version of the film being released were dashed when it was revealed that the footage no longer exists as Paramount destroyed all the outtakes. All that remains of them exist only in bootleg workprints of horrific, low quality.
Marta Kober, who played Sandra in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) (a fact unknown to the casting directors), was offered a role in this movie and ended up getting the job, but when she eventually told the directors about being in Part 2 she was replaced.
The first three films in the series each featured a new protagonist, then the next three sequels centralized the character of Tommy Jarvis. This film was subtitled "The New Blood" with the intention of Tina becoming a protagonist who would recur in further sequels, though that idea was shelved.
In the Deluxe Edition DVD & Blu-Ray edition, lead actress Lar Park-Lincoln says during her rare off days from shooting that she would use a custom button maker to make Jason fronted buttons. She notes that she made over 50 total and that would make "super rare crew member items" should they ever surface.
Susan Sullivan was remembered as a sweet person with a kind and humble character. The documentary "Crystal Lake Memories" reported in 2012 that the actress Susan Jennifer Sullivan has passed away from cancer in Randolph, Massachusetts, in 2009. They tracked the wrong woman: Susan Jennifer Sullivan still lives in Southern California.
Not counting the opening narration, Jason is not mentioned by name until 58 minutes into the film.
Original writer Daryl Haney was fired after his agent contacted executive producer Frank Mancuso Jr. and told him that Haney would not do any more work on the project unless he received a large pay increase (even though Haney had never told his agent to do any such thing). The screenplay was completed by a second, unknown writer, who was credited as Manuel Fidello.
William Butler (Michael) was also part of the makeup effects team and he helped Kane Hodder with his prosthetic appliances. Because Kane would sweat in his latex makeup appliances, which would often be removed and later reused, Butler gave him the nickname "Stinky Voorhees."
Lar Park-Lincoln and Kevin Spirtas did not get along while making Friday the 13th: The New Blood (1988) despite playing love interests, so much so that Spirtas wrote his own script for a Friday the 13th Part VIII where The New Blood was only a dream, and his character Nick had killed Tina. Ironically, Park-Lincoln and Spirtas would later become good friends.
Because of the movie being heavily censored by the MPAA, (Motion Picture Association of America) fans has nicknamed the movie "Friday the 13th: The No Blood"
One of the pins that Michael is wearing on his Army jacket (the red button with a white triangle emblem) is from the Robotech Macross saga. There also appears to be a red, gold, and black German flag on both of his sleeves.
The film's working title was "Birthday Bash
Every death takes place at night
The scene where Tina has a hallucination of Michael getting killed was the first thing Kane Hodder ever filmed for the series.
During the prologue, Young Tina stands beside a calendar with the date shown as Friday, October 13. This date held special meaning to John Carl Beuchler, who went on his first date with his wife Lynn on Friday, October 13, 1978
The first 'Friday the 13th' sequel since Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) to open with flashback footage from the previous movies.
Second and final film in the series where Jason kills someone with a butcher knife, after Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981).
Tina Shepard is the only female Jason has faced off with who has special abilities.
Kane Hodder said he had difficulty with the scene where he kills the camper in the sleeping bag by bashing her into the tree because the dummy and fake blood inside was heavier than he thought it would be. The scene required a number of retakes because he kept swinging as hard as he could but no matter how hard he swung the sleeping bag he couldn't get it to look right. By the final take, he was so fed up with the situation that after he dropped the bag he kicked it angrily. This is the shot that appears in the final film. In retrospect, Hodder said that was one of his favorite "kills" and he later recreates it in Jason X (2001).
Kane Hodder did all his own Jason stunts in this film, including falling through the stairway and having the porch roof fall on his head.
There were numerous filmed scenes that were edited out of the final cut in order for the movie to avoid an X-rating including: Maddy's face getting stabbed in the wood shed, Dr. Crews' body being cut in two in the woods, a longer death-in-sleeping bag scene, Russell's axe in the face by the lake, Jason holding David's head, and an ending scene of Jason jumping out of the water and grabbing a fisherman.
    Body count: 16.
According to Kane Hodder at Monster Mania, the mannequin in the sleeping bag weighed 95 lbs.
Elizabeth Kaitan's death resembles a similar death in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) in which both characters are thrown out a second-story window by Jason, except Tina in The Final Chapter lands on a car, (which possibly added to her death) and Elizabeth Kaitan lands on the ground (which theoretically and medically speaking might not have actually been enough to kill her).
The chain hanging around Kane Hodder's neck was made out of plastic.
This is the only Friday The 13th movie in which primary Jason Voorhees actor Kane Hodder murders characters on Camp Crystal Lake grounds. While he was also in the eighth installment, Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), none of the murders shown occurred there. Instead, Crystal Lake High School seniors were killed aboard a yacht positioned on the lake facing the Camp Crystal Lake grounds, a cruise ship carrying the seniors to New York City, and on the Manhattan streets.
Susan Blu had a very bad cold while filming her death scene.
If the film is paused at the exact moment Melissa gets struck in the head with an ax, you can see a ring going around the actress's head.

My favorite part of this movie is the prologue, narrated by Crazy Ralph, showing the story of Jarvis vs Jason. Really disappointed that they didn't use Tom McLaughlin's ending to 6 and then pick up from there with Elias Vorhees seeking revenge on Tommy.

For me personally, I turn the movie off after the house explodes and I pretend that that’s the ending. Then I skip Part 8, Part 9 and Jason X and go straight to Freddy VS Jason. It makes sense. Jason went to Hell after being blown up and then Freddy resurrected him and FvJ occurs.
Oh, btw, I watch the first four Nightmare films and then go to FvJ.

This actually my favorite of the Friday films. Loved how Tina was mentally damaged and disturbed Woman. Made U root for her more. Also this has my favorite killof the franchise when Jason takes that girl in the sleeping bag and just bangs her, no pun intended, against the tree. One of the most creative kills ever.

Congratulations on reaching 10k subs! This is definitely one of my favorites in the series. You have Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's, Carry (Tina), the dude who looks like Christopher Reeve, the ugly girl (yeah, the one with the glasses) and the best looking Jason. Yes, I agree that the MPAA literally slaughtered this movie but that isn't the movie's fault and the ending is insane. I do recall reading that they originally had Tina's dad look more rotten which somehow was changed. The way I see it is that the ending is a (hilarious) homage to the original ending of the 1st Friday. All in all, the minute they dumped the scary element starting with Friday 6, that was the changing point for this series but Friday 7 was the last one which still "tried" to keep the scary element. Great review!

Loved the way you talked about the MPAA. I've heard that a lot from other critics. Even by the filmmakers of this film. That by today's standards, this franchise would be looked at as PG rated films. More like PG-13 to me. Would have been nice to see a HATCHET cut Friday the 13th franchise in general. Cause of how bloody THOSE films was. Mostly because they never had a theatrical release. To hell with the MPAA! I was a fan of this one film though. I love they way they made Jason look with his face. Surprised me all to hell. I do agree with the your assessment of the characters.

    The beginning of the end.
Kane is very fan friendly and a very nice guy. He's like the wresting hero of Jason to a lot of fans. He's not my favorite Jason, but I think a lot of people give him that credit because of his kind and fan friendly qualities.
It's very watered down and the quality I always thought was like a tv installment of the series. The music and everything else is very cheap.
I think it's best enjoyed with the brain turned off. I enjoy it as another guilty pleasure. May watch it today. Lmao

Honestly, I think the reason Kane Hodder gets the most respect is because he played Jason more times than anyone else. If Ted White had played the character that many times, he'd probably get the same recognition.

It's really because of Kane's mamuerisms, gestures etc when playing Jason. He has that heavy breathing. Kane is also the biggest physically and is more of a tank version of Jason. Not to mention, he does all of his own stunts and has this angry presence about him every time he kills someone.

Love your reviews dude. I think Kane Hodder portrays Jason the best though, I love the fact he doesn't run, makes it more intense and the fact he was a bodybuilder back in the day and took on the role I just think he looks scarier. I love all the films but I think Jason not running is creepier. I also think Jason part 7 is defo the bad ass look of all Jason's. Part 8 is probably a close 2nd. Keep up with the reviews though man. 👍

John Buechler & Kane Hodder's commentary track is one of the best commentary tracks I've ever listened to. But the film is one of the most heavily edited ones in this franchise. Personally, I have fun watching it despite the flaws. Sleeping Bag death is the best kill in the film. Side note: Elisabeth Kaitan is in a couple Surrender Cinema films as well as Assault Of The Killer Bimbos(1988).

I liked this movie for a couple of reasons. First, it had a survivor who could actually take the fight to Jason....and second, I felt that in this movie Jason was probably the most expressive compared to the movies that came before it. When it came to the fight scenes you could almost see him thinking "what the eff is up with this girl, she's beating my butt!" lol! You have to give them credit for trying something different. I've seen the unedited takes on RUclips as well and I think it would have been a much better movie had they'd been able to leave them in the film. Keep up the good reviews Cody!

This is the WORST ending. I would've much preferred for them to have just let the house blow up and have the officials tell you that they didn't find the body. The resurrection only bothers me because...he should've killed her. Just because of who we know he is, he would've never just left her there. However this one is actually one of my favorites. I loved what they tried to do and I love Kane Hodder. The make up for him at the end once the mask is off is fantastic and my favorite of the series.

I saw this one in the Theater as a kid. I liked it a lot. There are some parts of it that made me say "what the F@#%?" Yes, the ending made me just say as kid " eh, it's a movie." Overall though, I liked it. Now, Kane Hodder as Jason. He is okay, I don't think he's the best. What I notice the most is that his version isn't that physically responsive. Which could be good or bad. He's okay with me. Jason in parts 3 and 4 are my favorite. Also, it's not like with Freddy Krueger who was a child killer. Jason was a kid who drowned in the lake at Summer Camp because of negligent Camp Counselors. I usually wasn't bothered at all to watch Jason slay people.
