- NEW SERIES ALERT! 🚨
Introducing Tea Swap, where Jesse swaps teas with his tea friends :) In this first episode, we’re back on location at @westchinatea. So Han has me try some Sugar Plum Shou Mei (White Tea) and I share 23 year-aged Pu’er that I sourced with the help of Sister Ai, a third-generation tea farmer in the Yunnan Tea village of Qianjiazhai!
We talk about being Tea guys, needing WeChat, hating (then loving) teas, and enjoying the community and casual nature of Gongfu Tea.

Love the rare tea sampler idea
Jessie got me into tea, and So Han has gotten me hooked and loving tea. I love going to his tea house and drinking tea with everyone.
Me too and I can’t go a date without tea I feel like i need a shirt that says don’t talk to me until I have my tea
As an indigenous person, the social culture aspect of the enjoyment of tea is what I love! I too am doing my part to dispel the "ceremony" image of gong fu cha. As an artist, I appreciate the attention to brewing methos and experimenting with variables of the steeping process. I have a HUGE collection of jianzhan teaware and as well as few daqi pieces. Again, back to my indigenous roots and upbringing, its the organic portrayal of consuming a plant that is given so much respect in the cultivation process, to the consuming process. It CAN be "ceremonial" in a sense, but for me, it's taking the time to stop and pay attention to being fully emersed in your tea session. Being laid back, and sharing with others! Thanks for another great collab video!
Could not put it better myself friend, sharing a moment with my late Papa bonding over fine tobacco and enjoying the care put into a nice cigar as he taught me about our Indigenous culture are some of my fondest memories. Living life in the moment and sharing experiences with those around is such an important lesson I’ll never forget.
the ceremony image.. why would u want to dispel that? rituals are sacred. it is not a bad thing. unless you mean ceremony gatekeeping. it should be a ceremony between friends. maybe its all semantics XD
@@housemana from a native cultural perspective, it can divulge into romanticism of that particular culture from those without full investment and only interested in aesthetic representation. I own a lot of Chinese tea ware, but I educate myself on the history and significance behind it. The materials and art forms, as well as the authenticity of traditional ceramics and other materials.
Dang Jessie! You are all over the place, I like it! Back together again! Also,I do think I could appreciate a rare tea sampler.
take this series and keep it up bro! This is bomb
For real!
“Better for who” is a great way to say it too. Most expensive tea IS better than cheaper tea, but which tea tastes good to you isn’t really an attribute your vendor would use to price the tea as that’s entirely subjective which is why you can often taste your way through samples and find a tea that may be cheaper and also a better experience for you even if agriculturally it was cheaper to produce. I really only regard the price when it becomes either too expensive of which case I would be pickier or too cheap which would cause me to doubt the quality. But in both examples you could be wrong. It really comes down to many factors but the solution is usually just to try it and find out.
Of course I learn about West China Tea after I move out of Texas 💔 Next time I visit home, I'll definitely stop by!
I thought the same thing! Bummed I don't live there anymore.
S.A. here and just found out about em myself. I'll have to try it out and have a cpl extra glasses for yall 😊❤
@@Magnum3144 yess! Pour one over a tea pet for us
A rare tea box would be very cool. I like teas I can save for special occasions, and old teas and whiskeys get more special with age. Eventually mindful consumption of the great drink becomes the special occasion itself.
pluR
Great conversation and I am so down for some of that 23 y/o tea!
Of all the vids on your channel THIS is the best.
Please do more of these - while your podcasts with people you like are good - id much prefer more tea experts and tea people rather than random people who drink tea.
The TEA (and you too jesse) is why im here, I can find regular podcasts anywhere - but the tea is so interesting!!
Would love to see a tea collab video with you and MeiLeaf in the future 🙌
OH MAN, NO WAY! 😂 I just looked into this channels long-form videos, only to see you just posted about half an hour ago? LFG
I love when you do a colab with So Han, i got to know about him and his youtube chanel thanks to you. The tea swap idea is realy nice.
I’m so glad I’m finally watching the full length video
So cool to see you guys both together. Some of my favorite tea addicts, lol 😂
this is 100% amazing I knew nothing about tea other then we throw it in harbors. thank you for the education
I might have visited one of So Han's shops back in 2019 when I happened to see it on Google Maps while I was in town. After some googling it looks like like that was under Guan Yin name! I bought two envelopes of some of the first real Chinese tea I ever had: tried to make some wonderful rare oolong in hotel coffee cups, using the lid as a rudimentary 'easy gaiwan'. Oh the memories!
I live in Texas. Need to check this place out!
I LOVE the punny tea pet names!!! I had a cat named Purrdita (because she purred a lot). She unfortunately passed away but I named my tiger tea pet Pourdita (occasionally puerdita if that’s what we’re drinking).
That chonky tortoise is beatiful ❤
A rare tea sampler sounds amazing, something you could get 2-3 sessions out of the teas in it, to really celebrate or bring something special to share with friends and loved ones would be fantastic. It reminds me of the times I shared some really nice cigars with my Papa before his passing where we’d talk about life and he’d teach me a lot about our culture, we’re Eastern Band of Cherokee and tobacco was a very important of part of our heritage, and being able to pull something special out to show how much someone’s presence means to your life and share a meaningful moment with were some of my fondest memories with him.
I would instantly buy a rare tea sampler! Also loving this tea swap video. I've been sharing the horse box tea with my friends and I'm creating more tea addicts. They found the love of the community aspect of drinking tea too.
So happy to watch this! First met So Han on The Modern Rogue and it was thanks to him that I gained an interest in tea and learned how to appreciate tea. ❤:)
Have a cig ? Ugh I’ve been craving it. I thought it was because of the casino but maybe it’s the tea. I’ve bought from both you guys now. It’s a must !!!!
Thank you for this interesting video. My friend in Hong Kong has got me into drinking Pu'er tea which is now my favourite tea!! 😊☕
When I first found this channel, I've been admiring but assuming all this stuff would be hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I finally peeked at the website and everything is super well priced and seemingly very high quality (I'm even more convinced by the content on this channel). I'll be putting this on my birthday list 😅
Ahhhhhh, Austin?!? I live in San Antonio, this is within my reach! I'm SO gonna have to check this out. ❤❤
The dynamic duo. Love you guys and the content. Drinking great tea thanks to the both of you!
I definitely would love to see a rare tea sampler so I can try several before I invest in a larger quantity of these so I make sure I purchase my favorites
Cheers boys having a cup with you!
What a treat, I'm in Austin and will definitely have to check out the store. Wish I could try some of that aged tea!
Man, I love that duo thing goin' on!!! Come to think about it, it's about time to bust out my birthday teas(the 5th of February is my birthday).
Chonky Horse is precious! I would love a sample box. Keeping my eye open for when there is a restock.
Woah! A podcast?! What a treat :) feels like I just found your shorts, great job!
The podcast is already out! check my long videos - episode 4 is with So Han
Loving all the content you put out, and I don't even drink tea. Just calming to listen to someone talk about
i would love to see u giving a subpar quality tea to a knowledgable tea person. see how they react and what they detect
I would definitely buy the rare Tea sampler. I just got your regular tea sampler and am very excited to try all sorts of teas. Especially some that i would NEVER find at my local tea shops on america
Thank you for another video with you two together❤❤❤ I love it!
Got my very first puerh in the post today, perfect time to watch this video haha
Hey Jesse could you do a short on hei cha tea? Would you ever consider carrying a line of these teas and what are they?
Saw this guy on the modern rogue. Nice to see this collab.
WHAT!!! I was just looking at west china tea house on google maps. It’s the closest tea house to me. It’s 8 hours from me. I’m so upset right now
Had the honor to have tea with So Han ✔️ My next goal is to share tea w/ Jesse!!! 🫖
Would love rare tea sampler lol I love tea but I’m still getting at Walmart looking for better!!
Love more content from you two!
Definitely need a rare tea sampler!
Just guys being dudes
I gravitated towards sheng puer as a favorite within the first 5-10 teas that I tried.
Ooooh super excited for this series!!
Love the rare tea sampler idea ❤
I’d certainly pick up the rare tea sampler! 🍵
I love rare tea sampler idea!
I’d love the raw tea sampler! I tried the Purple Beauty as my first tea and now I’m hooked. Currently waiting for a chance to join the subscription service.
February 1!!!
@@jessesteahouse Thank you! Gunna be checking the website like I’m trying to snipe a bid on eBay lol
I got a lil 100gram tea cake sourced from the yunnan province in China where you stayed In I haven’t tried it yet it’s so beautiful I don’t wanna break it 😂 but it’s puer from 2020 can’t wait to try it
This was very fun to watch. I really wish I could buy tea from you, but it just gets way too expensive with shipping, taxes and import fees to send here in Sweden.
I am hoping we can open a distribution center in the EU by the end of the year
Nice video.
100% the rare tea sampler is a good idea.
So what kind of water would you recommend for teas spring, distilled or just plain tap water? Would the taste of your tea be affected if your water is hard or soft? I once read an web novel where an person would collect fallen snow from plum blossoms for tea water, not sure how realistic that was .. Then later came across some information about how Historical people would pair water from certain places to make their tea taste better?
Id love some Rare old Liu Bao and White tea if you can find some, two of my favorites ! 💚💚
I’ve got two questions for ya lad hope you’re prepared,
do South or south east Asians drink tea with mint or any other flavorful leaf if so what kind of tea do they drink it with and what are there are the different combinations? I’ve been eyeing up sage for a period of time
What are some tea snacks that south or Southeast Asians eat with tea? I get that you don’t want something that will drown out the tea flavours, i’m thinking about nuts and dried fruit and maybe some saltines
Great show. I definitely had the same views on white tea, basically being water, until I tried higher quality white tea.
Small historical fact check though: the birth of Jesus is likley between 6BC and 4 BC. (Based on records and rulers in power at the time). And there is a possibility (though unlikley) it could have been up to 2 AD.
Also, there is no actual "year 0" it would have gone from 1 BC to 1 AD.
19:13 bro started rapping
Very nice!
❤❤❤
Nice 👌
Does water matter..I want to kno before my start please..
How do I order tea ❤❤ u h love
✌️
Is it normal for the black jasmine tea to taste kinda soapy? I just tried it from the sampler box, and I’m curious if that’s the flavor or if I did something wrong at some point.
Soapy is unusual - it has a funky scent and the jasmine is strong. If you see any issue with the bag or something you can contact teafriendsupport@jessesteahouse.com - haven’t had any other reports of issues with that tea though
What's a good fruity tea?
A younger white tea has a nice floral and fruity flavor
2700y sounds like bs to me. A tree that no-one is allowed to see?...
I mean it's more than possible. The tea itself isn't that old but the tree and strain of tree may be that long of a lineage. But I do get it as someone coming from the states. Like the idea that something is so ancient is something I have a weird time grasping because my country is only 300ish years old itself and that itself feels old. But in the grand spectrum of things that is super young in the world. So having an old tree that someone is holding onto so guarded doesn't sound out there.
at 3:17 , he heh 😂 pure beavis and butthead refences + comedy , omg
from getting high on your own supply ( biggie smalls! ) to... the bing hole.. , NOT an insult!!! 😮😂 sorry just revelling in my inner- 8 year old self~ okay! please go on 🫣
snobbishness while drinking tea...that might be funny if the people were getting tea-high...how to maintain it! you would have to get friendly and break the rigor ( i guess! ) 😸
Jesse got me interested in tea and my girlfriend just surprised me with a tea set and sampler pack for my birthday! Best birthday present ever and the tea is fantastic! I can't wait to order more and try it all! Thank you for introducing me to Gongfu tea and team culture!
rare tea sampler ? yes
❤❤❤
