    I think your idea about how this works in accurate. However, there are a number of other compounds that are psychoactive that all come together in a very complex cocktail that varies enormously with type of tea, age of tea, terroir, processing and environment. Some other compounds to think about are GABA (aminobutyric acid), Theobromine, and all the compounds that come from metabolism of caffeine and all the other initial compounds. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks for watching. Yeah I think I've barely only got the most basic of understandings of how getting tea drunk possibly works and there's a lot more going on than what I've talked about in this video

    I like how some Chinese people say that tea drunkeness comes from the qi of the plant too. I'm not doubting the science of course, but I reckon maybe a bit of both.

    • @teaangle
      @teaangle  5 месяцев назад +1

      For sure. I think they're related in that it's different ways of explaining the same thing. But some things related to tea are quite difficult to explain without resorting to terms like qi and energy. And you only really get a sense of this once you've had teas that have given you this kind of feeling. Trying to explain it to someone who hasn't somewhat experienced this is tricky

    I find it interesting that raw puer gives me burst of energy while ripe puer makes me sleepy all day

    • @teaangle
      @teaangle  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, that's definitely the effects on me as well. This is likely because the fermentation process when making ripe pu'erh removes a lot of the caffeine content.

      Recently I was out with a friend at the bar and we had a chimichanga (fried burrito) and fries for dinner. My friend also had a couple beers (I don't drink). I invited him back to my place for some liu bao hei cha, because I wanted a digestive. We drank the tea, and he reported that it made him super sleepy and cooled him off. 😄

    I bought some pu erh tea out of curiosity and on the second time trying it I entered a state that seemed very similar to being high on weed. I was lightheaded and floaty but also full of euphoria. Now im kinda into tea.

    Bro just pick a tea and chill with it. I think you drank too much 😂 Take your time, savor the flavors and the aromas and let your body relax as you let the essence of the tea wash over you. Just enjoy and appreciate the leaf, and it will share its magic with you. 🍃

    Oh my goodness now I know😮.
    For years as a Tea lover without understanding why I enjoy this state of 🧠!! I have had a few Sunday afternoons in which I have done this and did not realise Im a teaholic..
    I often on a Sunday afternoon have had an afternoon of having many different teas yeah and been in your situation, many times.
    I start of with Deejarling, move onto Assam, Move onto Earl Grey then I move onto Chinese Oolong and onto both Japanese and Chines Green tea then last onto my favourite two Chinese teas.
    I have my own tea garden and tea house shed out the back and love this state of 🧠 journey I go through.
    Thought I was onto something, thank you for this video on what they call tea drunk.
    Still got to be way better and better tea drunk and being in a pleasant place than drunk at a bar at a local pub🤔.

    I have had many whites that get me there,which surprised me at first.
    I love Shoumei,it is a tea that I always purchase when I see it.
    There is also a bit of a cake left,it’s a 2003 Sheng(raw) Pu Erh,that takes me to that place as well.
    Ahhh!
    I’m maybe 3 sessions away from running out of that beautiful cake😫

    • @teaangle

      Either way, it'll take a lot of green tea and the l-theanine in it to balance the caffeine in the coffee. But, nothing like a good caffeine hit to counter some alcohol

      I have been able to get tea drunk off Japanese teas like sencha and gyokuro. I believe a supplier called west china tea sells a tea drunk expirience bundle. and meileaf sells a GABA oolong tea and has a good video about tea drunk and gaba effects.

    Don't need these expensive aged teas. Just go into any Middle Eastern Grocery where they'll have a shelf stocked with big containers of very potent teas both green and black teas are strong, you'll need to find something for calming, chamomile if that works for you or throw in a Jilungin leaf (Aboriginal sleep tea)

    • @teaangle
      @teaangle  Год назад +5

      But the expensive aged teas are so much more enjoyable than supermarket teas 😆 But it can be a bit much to enjoy regularly on a daily basis. Herbal infusions like camomile can definitely help balance the caffeine from pure teas
