Maybe it's just the trailer edited to be like a comedy, but there is a really good film called BITCH (dir. Marianna Palka) that is much darker about a housewife who is tired of the domestic mundanity, loses her mind, and believes she's a dog.
BITCH is closer to the book. That is what happens in the book, but the dog transformation is actually happening. She's not imagining it, but she does think she's losing it. It's a metaphor for woman's return to the animal nature of motherhood itself.

Amy Adams is known for her ability to bring depth and nuance to her roles, so it’ll be interesting to see how she tackles this complex, potentially surreal character. The film’s premise is intriguing and offers a lot of room for both dramatic and comedic exploration, making it a standout in Adams’ already impressive filmography. So please don't conclude that the movie is bad and she will not win an Oscar. This is just a trailer and your premature conclusions might ruin her chances.
It's also just stupid to condemn a movie, sight unseen, directed by a filmmaker with a reputation for upending expectations and putting out features entirely different from how they were marketed.
Amy Adams elevates every thing she is in, full stop. She has SIX oscar nominations - By Leonardo DiCaprio's 7th nomination, everyone was demanding he deserved to win and he was only 30. Can we start demanding that she get HER OSCAR? (Maybe not for this movie though- I am struggling with the tone of this trailer- but I have no doubt Amy brings nuance and depth to the role not shown here).
Please check out Norturnal Animals, which have both actresses. It's just brilliant (plot, picture, costumes, ost). Don't watch the trailer to have no idea about the topic, just believe me that it is worth it! Quick note: it's a serious movie, not a comedy.
Obviously they leaned into the similarity between them to portray a "real" one along with her fictional counterpoint. That's too meta :) It would've been way trippier if they switched the roles back & forth between the actresses ...unreliable narrator, casting of doubt as to which is the "real" story?. Is she mentally ill projecting her fantasies into a fictional character she's created in her mind ...plot twist she's in a mental hospital after doing what's in the "book". Another possible plot twist Maybe she's the writer writing her dark fantasies ...maybe she writes the story & the story writes reality. Maybe this movie could've been & done so much more :)
Omg finished the book this morning and thought the movie came out TODAY not DECEMBER 6th 😭😭I have to wait another month?! So excited to see Amy Adams in this roooolllleee

The Best Picture and Best Lead Actress winner the year before that still holds the record for the highest-grossing movie in A24's history.
I'm sorry the divorce was so rough, but you might want to consider that it's you who is out of touch with contemporary audiences, not Hollywood or the Academy.
So happy for Rachel Yoder. 🎉
Looks funny! I want to watch it.
Me too.
Oh shit! Janet! I mean Jessica Harper!!!!
People keep speculating on Amy Adams' Oscar chances while I'm here insisting Jessica Harper is still owed an Oscar IOU for Pennies From Heaven!
That's Phoenix!
She escaped the Paradise and the grasp of Swan...thank you Winslow!!
This will not help with me constantly mixing up Isla Fisher and Amy Adams after watching Wolf Like Me.
Please check out Norturnal Animals, which have both actresses. It's just brilliant (plot, picture, costumes, ost). Don't watch the trailer to have no idea about the topic, just believe me that it is worth it! Quick note: it's a serious movie, not a comedy.
@@juliabluerainoh yeah, that mind fucky movie. I still have no idea what it's about.
Obviously they leaned into the similarity between them to portray a "real" one along with her fictional counterpoint. That's too meta :)
It would've been way trippier if they switched the roles back & forth between the actresses ...unreliable narrator, casting of doubt as to which is the "real" story?.
My crush is gettin' old. I love you Amy Adams.
The book reads like a Grimms Fairytale. It’s moody and violent. This trailer makes it look like a whimsical, yet dark comedy. Perhaps it’s another case of false movie advertising. At least, I hope it is.
I thought Nightbitch was a hero in Kickass 2....
oh nooo oh no oh no rachel yoder im so sorry they did this
I loved it.
Amy Adams is back 😍😍
Amy Adams taking a big risk with a crazy wacky role. Good for her.
Why can’t we have authentic trailers? Women don’t need flowers, we need truth.
This trailer sold me once they started playing Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus lol
My girl is back
Y’all classify anything as horror! I need to speak to the manager.
Can I pet that daaaaawg?
