Can't recommend the sampler pack enough to new people. It's the best way to figure out what you like. A sampler pack has two of each tea, so you can split one with a friend. It makes it very easy to try new-to-you teas and figure out what kind of tea you like.
Agreed. I ripped through mine by having a new one every day and ran headlong into the rabbit hole. Now I have a pretty decent sized stash that seems to expand faster than I can drink it.🤣
I definitely agree, however I think it’s a little overpriced. It’s still definitely worth it for getting into tea and trying out new stuff! If you’re new to gongfu cha and are debating buying the sampler, I’d definitely recommend it
@@joshhawkins7408 True, I'd rather pay a little bit more for someone to curate a good selection and be able to jump off to a middle range and go from there. Lower chance of wasting lots of money when trying to chase the cheapest over training your tastebuds.
Would be fun to include a social aspect: what are the workers in the field drinking? What are the owners of the trees drinking? What are the merchants drinking? What are the merchants selling? What is sold in the region vs what is exported? What are the farmers teaching their children? Go for quality? Go for quantity? Sell the good stuff for good money, or keep the good stuff for friends and family? - What is drunk on religious holidays or for a marriage or a child birth? There must be tons of cultural nuance.
Love the intro of "somebody made a post saying 'I get to decide what counts as tea' and everybody started fighting about it" The tisane argument runs strong
I love your style of content creation and in this way connection more and more average people to tea, getting it out of this nische elite space. I hope your EU warehouse is on the way because this shipping fees are killing me🥰
Thank you!! Very glad to be able to get the tea scene out of any sort of elitist bubble. Doesn’t need to be that way. Also yes we are working hard on the EU warehouse!
I just met So Han Fan the other day!! I started watching Jesse's stuff, looked up tea houses in my area, found West China Tea House and had the best tea experience of my life.... and then Jesse casually mentions West China Tea House at the end of this.... i have made the right decision to become a tea head!!
That next ep better be soon, I want to watch... Teasim ep, western vs gongfu vs grandpa taste differences and why one may be prefered over the other and what teas tend to be good for which. Teaism, you mention age of the tea tree, where its grown, etc. Talking about these differences, why they are important and, of cource, tasting it while speaking on it. Teasim, *how to make a "proper tea party".* What teas should I have? Steep type? Different kinds of tea? Best snacks? (especially for westerners/the u.s. where things tend to be highly salty/sweet which kills the tea for me.)How much equipment? As someone who wants to introduce my friends to tea but dont have the luxery of trial and error; an episode like this could help me meet and make more tea people.
Your content brings positiveness to my life and motivates me to drink tea and make life better as a consequence! Keep making videos! Make more of them! We love you ❤️
Long form content LETS GO! I would love a ' how i started my business video' Seeing you leverage your skills and knowledge the way you have is very inspirational. Im sure you have LOADS of business wisdom to learn from.
i cannot express how grateful i am for this series. first, super-informative, easy to engage: i've learned so much and my curiosity is piqued. (well done!) second, what a great resource to point the gongfu-tea-curious toward. (an easy share from a trusted resource) thanks for dropping your knowledge, ma'teaguy!
I purchased your tea sampler and two-cup teapot travel set last week, fell in love with sister ai's sheng pu'er tea instantly. I have never gone beyond tea bags before trying your set, I am extremely glad that I decided to purchase the tea sampler alongside this set!
As a total newbie I'm so excited to have this new hobby to begin to explore! Thank you for making all of this clear for Americans like me who have been drinking tea out of bags their whole lives.
Thanks for this video Jesse :") I found your channel and videos on RUclips Shorts and decided to buy the Rotating Teapot Set + the Tea Sampler box (this was before Sister Ai's Everyday Pu'er was put in I think??) and I've never regretted since! Really appreciate this video being posted today as I was having a bad day and watching this made me feel re-centered again in my day! Thank you so much :")
Buddy, I love being able to learn as much as i can in this kind of format. You're funny, entertaining, and highly informative. My only want in this series is for them to come out maybe once a month, as i had kinda forgotten that it existed since the last upload.
You are definitely the reason I got into tea. I found a tea house in Georgia, USA and now they have 1 more person in their tea community. Keep up the good work!
Its been two months since i started my tea journey with your channel and store. Thank you Jesse for showing me how cool and fun tea can be. Now I'm just waiting for the next sub box.
I have the Purple Beauty and 2006 Ancient Tree pu'er and they're delicious, I can't thank you enough for the tip on brewing that purple deliciousness! I can't wait 22 years from now to try what will be my 40 year aged ancient tree Pu'er all thanks to you and our tea friends back in China!!
Teaism 3 when! Thanks so much for making these videos, it's so helpful! I just recently got one of your tea sets (literally arrived today) and I'm learning how to make it from your teaism videos!
After you talk about the various types of Oolong and Puerh teas I can definitely recommend talking about the non-tea species that are traditionally accepted to be mixed with tea such as Crysanthemum, Goji, Chenpi and Pangxiejiao. Maybe also blends such as shou puerh with white tea or such. I also would like a concise video about the various grades or derivatives of puerh like Gongding and Huangpian.
Hey Jesse! So excited for my big order from you!!! Feels so good to support a creator that has given me so much while also getting some equipment and teas that I am sooo excited for too! You rock!
I appreciate these videos SO MUCH! I have access to a LOT of loose leaf teas, but the shop is more of the English influence of tea so they aren't too knowledgeable about Chinese tea culture. I would love to see a video on the Herbal and Flower teas.
I've been waiting for this video for SO LONG! So glad it's here, can't wait for the the next episode. I've made a spreadsheet to share with friends and to pull out when I host and share tea with friends.
This series is awesome, I ordered your sampler after watching this video and I'm highly anticipating its arrival. I hope the next teaism video will release soon!
I'm beginning to step into Chinese medicine and so would really like a video on Chinese herbal teas as well! Thank you for being the start of my tea journey, Jesse
Really good episode and such a good looking guy in the video :) I really like the 2011 Fuding white, any white in general. Keep up the good work and keep giving us more tea
Your videos are absolutely lovely! I enjoy your content so much, you are always keeping it very informative and sprinkle in the right amount of humor. Keep it up!
Green tea is too “cooling” for my body. But I wish I could enjoy it, it’s so beautiful. I’m in late stage kidney failure and “cooling” teas rip my stomach to shreds.
Love the knowledge dog!! Would love to see more focus on how you determine temps and times - not specific numbers, but v similar to how the white tea convo was talked about and how to determine what temp to use. I.e. ways to train the tea part of your brain!
Would be nice to have a segment on herbal and flower teas. My family tends to prefer Chrysanthemum tea when we go eat at Chinese restaurants. I had a (western) doctor friend who studied Chinese herbal medicine for a bit during residency, and he said herbal medicine is so complicated because it's not just one chemical compound that does the work, it's the interactions of all of them together, which is why it's hard for Western medicine to quantify it, and why you can't distill herbal medicine into a single compound pill.
Just bought a Gong-Fu tea set thanks to you :). Furthering my tea addiction. Also, I just checked the discount code you mentioned at the end of the video and it doesn't seem to be working? I'd be super keen to try some good quality teas, but the shipping to Australia from the US is so expensive. Hilariously so, given how much closer I am to China in the first place. 😅 Anyways keep making good stuff. The videos are super chill, and informative. Thankyou :)
I’d love to hear more about aging teas. Things like: is it reasonable for a hobbyist to do? How is it done in industry vs at home? Does one need a controlled environment (e.g., as wine or cigars) and so forth.
Incredibly helpful video, thanks for making this, Jesse ! Also can’t recommend the sampler boxes enough- bought 4 more to give away to family and friends. How about an episode on teapots and what they are all about, Jesse ?
Love these intros! Would you ever be able to do a video on water quality, or possibly compare a single kind of tea with pure water, hard water, RO, etc.? I’ve noticed the exact same. He has a completely different vibe with different water types.
Comedy is an expression of wisdom,of life experiences, thrown back into the welcoming faces of the audience. This video is the same, the wisdom is,well, not thrown, but shared. I love a Shou Mei this time of year. It just satisfies,,it achieves the hot weather cha chi that I seek. It’s a personal favorite. I got a cake in a favorite place in London. Also, know this, well,I mean to say I know that making a well presented video is not a simple task,I have a dear friend who makes videos on this caliber. It’s like running a television station. I salute you. I will now go and purchase some of that tempting Shou Mei😊
Loving these videos. I was drinking the Thousand Year Tree Wild Red Tea while watching this, love that tea. As for other video ideas, I’d like to hear more about just drinking the green tea from a glass. I’d also like a video about doing gongfu tea using a teapot.
Hi Jesse! Do you happen to know anything about a type of tea I once drank in Guangxi? We were students doing a homestay program and they gave us this tea called youcha? They fried the tea in oil if I'm not mistaken, and was wondering if you knew anything about that style.
I've had a tea sampler before : Oolong Dark Oolong Earl Grey Hojicha Pu Erh Based on those 5, There's my preferences : 1. Dark Oolong 2. Pu Erh 3. Equal mix of Earl Grey and Oolong I'm curious if you have any recommendations based on that

Fantastic idea, seconding this.
Yes, this!
That is an endless rabbit hole that could be an entire series and I'm here for it.
I blame you and your videos for the rabbit hole I've fallen into! Thanks. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see the next part of this
Jesse is my favorite Chinese tea shill. Love his tea choices and his videos.

well explained
Nice
What are some good tea snacks/things to have with tea? I enjoy dried berries and mixed nuts.
