So Jesse is back in LA now, but we managed to get another Tea Time with Jesse episode in Taiwan! Our guest Jayme and her family helped us source our teas for our (recently revealed) Taiwan Mystery Tea drop!
In this episode, Jayme tells us about growing up around tea, how to tell the quality of your tea, and all the ins-and-outs of being a tea person. Jayme goes in depth about learning under a tea master, roasting teas intentionally, and different types of roasting.

I make that joke in my head that if the avatar is the bridge between the spirit world and the physical world then Jesse is the tea avatar who acts as the bridge between China/Taiwan and the rest of the world.
Have you thought about opening up an in-person tea shop where people can taste your online selection and where you can sell tea and merch/accessories in a physical location?
I would love to! But rent is so $$$$$$ - still thinking thru how it could be done without making me turn my full time job into making a building make money
@@jessesteahouse so many ideas, so little time! Im sure as your success grows opportunities will present themselves.
@@jessesteahouseTexas, my man. Austin outskirts are pretty great. Maybe team up with Sohan, and get a little farther out of the city.
@@jessesteahouseThe move here is to wait until the store is doing well enough that you can buy a house. Then you can do a "by appointment only" tea house situation either on a backyard patio or in your dining room. The primary thing to worry about is making whatever space you make the tea house have its own ingress/egress.
@@jessesteahouseyour best bet would be to open it on the east coast, probably not west, Jersey maybe not to far but close enough to NYC that you'll get native and tourist attraction, maybe a bunch of surveys are needed to see where your demographic lies, Unbiased thought opinion 🫣 👀 lol 😂 .. that could be years from now ! Keep doing what you do best and follow that gut !!

Thank you❤ I enjoy all your videos so much!
Beautiful location, thank you for another video❤
I love listening to tea people and jesse asks all the right questions :")
Before or after they are cut off from speaking or rather finishing the thought. Maybe Jesse is just overenthiastic and or nervous but it seems to be common with guests tea people or not.
Makes me even more excited for the Box!
I'm very excited to taste your teas. I think Jesse was asking some very pertinent questions here, really building on what she was expressing and I think that's really well done. Loved this interview, and I'd love to see more interviews with tea people!
auspicious timing with this. ive recently received some heavily roasted tie kuan yin from taiwan and havent found much info on the roasted tea style online. enjoyed hearing about the practice, especially straight from the source.
Jamie is amazing! This was such a good episode.
I hope we can get more podcasts with people like her, so we can learn even more . Its realy interesting to listen to her talk about hte tea
You had me at charcoal
Sadly i was to late for the tea pets tho
Love this episode, so interesting with the coal
Did not know about Tea Towel code when I put my pre-order in for the oolong box, but either way, super excited to get the tea when it ships!
you gotta know how to inhale the tea😂🎉 i love it
On the topic of "who made this" for teas, I genuinely would love a book that just lists all the names of people who were involved in the process of making the finished product. That would add to the experience to me
Wooo new episode, also first
Fro lookin super fresh
Love your content and have been having a great time trying out a few options from your green tea selection!
What has been the most unique or unexpected tea you’ve ever tried? Whether it’s a specific style or a particular brand/year/mountain, I’d be curious to see what teas made you do a double take!
Good questions! Maybe will make some videos on that
Jesse has found his match
I tried to smell the tea through the screen as you guys were
Wooooo sweden!
❤❤❤
You should try "Ceylon tea". There are different types of tea. Ceylon tea refers to tea produced in the highlands of ' Sri Lanka' 🇱🇰 . It's available in oolong, green, white, and black tea varieties. Aside from being rich in antioxidants, Ceylon tea is also linked to health benefits like improved heart health and blood sugar control, as well as weight loss. One drink will surely amaze you. ☕ ❤
Omg the pokemon vibes 😂
Question. I mostly hear this video out of the left side of my headphones. Is this a me issue or from the video. good content
Do you have any opinions on Chrysanthemum tee before bed? Or what tea would you prefer before bed to not keep you awke.
Very likely that this question does not reach Jayme, but I'll try😅.
I live in sweden and everything here is pretty expensive and scarce. Do you have any supplier recommendations for nice quality and decently priced loose leaf tea in Sweden?
Hi Jesse, I am visiting the Dong Ding mountains in a couple of days. Does Jayme have a teashop there or do they sell tea elsewhere in Taiwan? Would you have an address? Thanks!
Any chance they can make a smokey style like an ardbeg or Laphroaig scotch
🇹🇼♥️
Hey Jesse! Tea noob question: how much total caffeine is usually lost during the first steep? Bc if it isnt much ill start tossing it like you do
Tea in genral doesn't have too much caffeine ... so if you take a look online at the caffeine per gram of certain teas you can grasp a kind of idea of how much caffeine you'll be tossing out
I already reserved my box 😢RIP tea towel 😢
Arranged marriage for tea mountains you say…
I'm against marriage and don't like people much....but id marry into a tea family in a second no question, I hate water, coffee sucks, most others drinks are bad for you to drink, so I'm a huge tea lover, I enjoy all kinds.
Saw the Short of pure caffeine coming from the ceiling. Thought it was some different “substance”. So glad it wasn’t.
Also the audio is switched.
Okay I’m enjoying the interview. How strange and beau-tea-full. (I regret nothing)
Does jayme have a YT channel?
(JAYME's family)
Parents: You have Marry Jesse ! He has #1 Online Tea House, And Amazing Hair !
Jayme: But my boyfriend in Taiwan...
🤣🫣 Great chemistry, Great interview !! 💚🐉
Finnished watching the video and this is Hong Kong charcoal roasted oolong. Why is this so mysterious? Because we've been drinking green oolong for 20 years? This is been drunk in Hong Kong and most of China for 100 years. Kind of interesting in the way it's being rediscovered
Just very rare to be available in the west. And of course the time it takes is significant.
Remember, most of Jesse’s audience are uneducated about nearly all eastern teas.
West vs far east... easy explanation
@@bloodlove93it's important I think to put things into context. Especially when somebody is being introduced to the rich culture of the far East and tea. In historically, tea has always been drunk, cooked or roasted. And I think it's important to be able to have that perspective, even if it's only been 20 years since the trend has changed. That's it.
Also keep in mind that many many generations ago green tea was thought of as acidic. So roasting aging cooking whichever way you want to put. It was thought of a way to mellow tea make it more pleasant for the body. That's pretty much the way it was always perceived. So here we are today. Going back to those wonderful flavors and that's a great thing😊
@@Dustwheel oh fair point I agree
I'm actually huge into Chinese culture and mythology, I read lots of light novels from china, very interesting stuff.
Dark story but absolutely brilliant masterpiece of writing is reverend insanity, great anti hero story about fighting against the world and fate itself.
If you open an EU shop and sell Taiwanese red oolong I'm gonna be so broke.
I’m looking into opening a warehouse in Europe :)
I really enjoyed this podcast but something was rubbing against someone's mic

Fro, The tea community is maybe trying too hard. You have to like tea for the taste of good tea. I don't know if I've ever said boy. I can't wake up tomorrow without having a nice tea. That taste like bananas. Right?
stop worrying about tea and continue speech therapy
