I definitely agree with making the guest bedroom the smaller room! We learned in our most recent house to use the best rooms for our needs (offices, game rooms, etc). We don’t have guests all that much and in our previous house those rooms were barely used.
Yes, people always think they are gonna have guests over more than they do. Lol. And usually guests don’t end up spending the night very often, maybe a few times a year, so it doesn’t make sense to use a larger room for it. We actually are planning to get a Murphy bed frame for our guest room so that we can still use the room for other things the majority of the time.
Yeah we had a full guest bed is our spare room because we had interstate family but they hardly visit and we ended up changing it to a pull out couch so we could use the space
Yep, fully agree with this advice. You usually only have guests for a total of 1-2 weeks per year (total). It doesn't make sense to use all of that good space for guests who use your house less than you do.
I love him arguing his case to have the bigger room. :) It makes a lot of sense to have the bigger room if you're going to be using it every day, actually. Petition for James to get the big room.
I'd turn the spare room off the living room into a separate TV room! That way in the living room you can lay stuff out a bit differently, have a bookshelf, Bowser's bed can be in the middle, maybe more seating for when you entertain!
@@regnagatha5028 Same! My friends have the bigger more open room with a dining table and more general hangout room and then the nook beside (kind of similar to how it seems in this house) is filled with a corner couch and tv. I think that is a really nice and cozy solution!

yeah, that space is super ideal for a playroom. and maybe it's just me, but i think that a kinda equivalent thing would make sense for deli & james specifically: a bowser room! ik dogs have a Lot of Stuff that takes up storage and floor space, etc. (like food, toys, leashes, various grooming stuff....) -- that room seems abt the right size to fit a cabinet/chest to store the various dog things, and his big bed, with a little extra room besides. plus it connects to the kitchen - so just beside the kitchen door could be a great place to put his food bowls and avoid the issue of the (small-ish) kitchen/dining area getting crowded. plus he could kinda have his own space. idk if dogs value that quite as much as cats, but.... it seems a nice option to me 😅

Congrats you two! It’s such a fun adventure to embark on. Many moons from now, the mystery room would be an excellent playroom. A perfect baby jail because you can keep them contained safely and the clutter hidden away visually, while still being accessible from the kitchen and living room. I’d live with a smaller kitchen to have that separate space if you’re staying longish term. Yoga mats, plants and comfy chairs in the meantime!
So happy for you guys! I definitely built my apartment in the sims before my boyfriend and I moved in so I could play around with furniture arrangement.
I bought my own apartment 2 months ago and before I moved in, I also built it in Sims 4. It was great, I was so excited :)) plus it also helped me to arrange those blank spaces with furniture or choose colors for the walls etc.
So nice to give the guests a wardrobe with already clothes in it. That resolves a lot of luggage problems. Also, I'm a little bit concerned about you not owning any book shelf. 😊 Definitely want to see the dream renovation of your future home.
I would turn that weird nook into a "creative space" or simply a hobby room, where you stuff all the things in you're interested in. Like what would I give to have a crafting room instead of making my dinner table a mess with all my soldering stuff 😂
You have to do the dream renovation and then the actual renovation after you’re all settled with your new furniture 😁 We just signed the lease for our first home and we are so excited for the move in too! Best wishes to you, deli and bowser 💖
I mean, the bonus room can evolve with your needs. It can start as a workout space and if you decide to start a family, you can make it the controlled kid space by putting up a baby gate and keeping toys and kid things in there. Plus, the little room is an ideal Nursery size. And if you are hosting guests, you can put a Murphy bed in one of your offices (whoever gets the bigger one) and share a workspace while guests are staying with you. Anyways, it is a lovely home and I am very excited for you both.
Yea Ild make the smaller side room into a cozy TV room. It would be darker an across the house an not bother anyone while they're sleeping/filming. The larger room, Ild make into a living/hangout room. Just a nice couch chairs an maybe one of those free standing fireplaces, book shelve in the corner an behind the couch pups bed. And Congrats on the new house!
After James does his reno you 2 can combine your favorites from the renos and make the ultimate dream home for you both. James keeps the bigger room for his office. ;)
Just jumping in here in the beginning to say, that's always the problem I have in TS4 when trying to build real houses. They are always too long. They are not necessarily too wide that I can tell. I wonder why that is? If the scale is off, shouldn't that be a symmetrical thing? Theories from the peanut gallery are welcome. Regarding the scale, I do think it would help if we had half tile segments, but that doesn't address the symmetrical issue. Not much to do in the way of remedies in this iteration, but an interesting convo to me nonetheless.
I tried building my house but I 100% needed half tiles or something. It came out weird and long, and huge too. All the doors didn’t quite fit right either. Which is weird because our place is pretty much a simple rectangle on the outside.
@@pastelpinkhoney Yeah, it's true even with simple shaped buildings. Maybe a half tile would fix it more than I think. When I copy a floor plan, I make it smaller, since it isn't real, but then you end up with 1 tile wide sections, or sections that you can't fit furniture in.
I’m exited for your new house. Hope everything turns out as you wish. Btw: In Germany we normally have our laundry in the bathroom or if you have a house there’s often a extra laundry room in the basement. I’ve never seen it in a cabinet.
Meanwhile, in my apartment here in America, we have a little closet off the kitchen with the laundry (washing and drying machines) as well as access to the water heater.
I feel like having your laundry in a closet is very much an American thing.... love the way I’ve seen European laundry/bathroom combos, makes way more sense
RUclips just recommended me this video again, probably because of Deli's vlogs of the renovations It kinda makes me chuckle at the beginning James saying he won't show us the floorplan or any photo for privacy reasons, and now there are vlogs of the whole renovation on youtube, sweet evolution
Congratulations on the new house! In the extra room maybe a cosy tv/reading room. I have a lot of plants, books and musical instruments so I'd probably make it my urban jungle music reading room....
I'd make the extra wee room into like a chill room, for reading, yoga, get some pretty lights. Or a hobby area if one of yous is into painting or anything similar
You guys should make your new house layout a Build Challenge. Post the shell and see what everyone comes up with. It might give you layout ideas and it could be fun.
You could turn the spare room into a library/relaxation space. Hang up some curtains in the archway, pile rugs on the floor, and have some bean bag chairs or other cozy furniture along with book cases for books. Your house looks really lovely, can't wait to see the video of it.
my boyfriend and I have the same exact view points as Deli and James when it comes to the TV being placed in front of the windows!! we are constantly changing it lol
Yes please...dream reno! The little nook would work for a more formal dining room but if you only entertain casually then having the eat-in kitchen works just as well. An exercise area is fine, or even an area for comfortable reading or quiet pursuits if one wanted to be away from the tv. I have a little area that I use for that in my home and I adore it. It also gives a space for conversation away from the tv area when friends visit. :)
I love how concerned Deli is with having a good guestroom 😂 Our guests sleep in a room that is essentially the cat's room and my warderobe. Haven't gotten any complaints, though! Friends and family are often happy as long as they get a free place to crash!
This looks fantastic, I do want to see James version of the dream reno!!!! Deli's was amazing. Congrats on the new house soon! Suggestions for the nook on living room: could be a reading/collectable lounge nook. for quiet days with a book and tea to relax, brainstorm ideas etc. If you craft at all it could go there. You could have "transformation" furniture and use it for extra room for food with big groups to serve if needed or extra seating for those times as well. crafting, lounging etc. Change it as you have needs to utilize the space. if you have plants could make it a little like a 4 seasons room with that window to grow your own little plants, herbs for cooking, etc.
Office is used every day make sure it gives you joy! We converted our formal dining into a “library” we lined one wall with ikea bookshelves and even got the stacking piece on top. And the other wall is a full wall gallery wall with travel photos, our degrees etc. Use the spandrels instead of the archway! And lastly do a dream version for sure!
Something that could be fun is if you or deli share the empty build on the gallery and treat it as a sort of shell challenge so that us viewers can come up with different furniture layouts for the house that you can then look at. It would either work as inspiration for you, or it will just be a fun interactive thing with you touring some of the designs for an easy-ish video to release while you're moving
Absolute yes to doing dream renos. If y’all decide to stay long term, I’d consider a reno that eliminated that flex room and allowed you to change the living room footprint as well as expanding the kitchen and putting in at least another half bath.
First: The ceiling mounted greenscreens are absolutely worth it, 10/10 recommend. Offices feel so much cleaner when that clunky thing is out of the way and doesn't need to be dragged around. Second: As someone who's been married for over 15 years, take the larger office, especially since this house is half yours and you'll be in it all day with the work/life balance. Overnight guests are not frequent enough to warrant losing a space you'd be spending a large part of your time in. Take that bigger office! As for floorplan: I'd drop the wall between that weird nook and the kitchen and make it one large open dining space with an island. I'd close up the archway but leave it's shape to turn it into a nice 'feature' bookcase in the living room area. Cozy cubbies for plants, books, knickknacks, etc. Get a sectional with a chaise instead of a wrap around and then pull it towards bowsers window, mount the TV on a swing/movable arm so you can turn it towards the new couch location and avoid the glare, push it back to the wall when not in use. And is it just me or does 1 bathroom for a 4 bedroom home seem a little strange? Is that common in AUS?
Please post this build!! I have so many ideas even with your furniture!! Would love to play around and furnish! Side note - bonus room would be ideal kid play space (hehehe) but in the short term, a additional sitting room or a library might work
Having that extra, empty room could be a great "flex space". Home gym stuff, especially things like mats or weights that can be moved out of the way if needed. Maybe a small table and chair, so guests could also have a place to work if needed. Space for extra projects. Whatever! I also agree with this layout. Besides as someone else said, having an office near the laundry means noise when recording, I also wouldn't want the guest bedroom only separated from the main bedroom by some closets, also for sound reasons. I think having the guest room toward the middle of the house, away from your work spaces etc. is best. Look forward to seeing what you end up doing!
I so much want to furnish it in the sims by myself and James is going to react to all our suggestions for the living room/ house furniture. Did they upload it to the gallery? :)
The little extra living room/old dining room could be a good space to make into a movie room perhaps - depending on the dimensions - and your couch could fit nicely in the corner, and then the bigger living space could be nice to just make into a chill out space for hanging out with friends and family. And if you want a workout space, you could use the space bedroom for that and put in a Murphy bed or something like it for when people spend the night, that way the room will also be for more use and not just for once every 6 months (or what it was 😋) and the closet could potentially be an easy place to move equipment into when people stay over 😊
I think they should upload the shell to the gallery and have the community redesign the existing house with their furniture. Then in a few months have the community renovate the house to make it a dream home…see what the Sims community will come up with😉
I’m just so happy for you both! Get’s me right in the feels. Petition for James to have the bigger room for the office. And here’s why: it gives you more space and privacy from your guests. You’ll def rarely have them and you want your workspace prioritized! Use the extra space as a wellness room, plants, reading chair and yoga! Love and blessings to you both!
In a dream world you could renovate the extra dining room into a second bathroom! And if it’s too large then you could fit a walk-in pantry in aside it as well to free up more kitchen space. Congratulations on the home!!
We have an outdoor loveseat and 2 matching rocking chairs around a propane fire pit. Then a storage BBQ counter type thing, a grill, and a smoker. That outdoor space would probably be nice for that! Lots of plants and you can't go wrong.
James should definitely have his room of choice, he spend so much time in there, and it’s his house too. He should feel good in it. I would turn that weird nook into a "creative space" or simply a hobby room, where you stuff all the things in you're interested in. Like what would I give to have a crafting room instead of making my dinner table a mess with all my soldering stuff 😂
Yes! So many good hobby items so that would be ideal
You have to do the dream renovation and then the actual renovation after you’re all settled with your new furniture 😁
We just signed the lease for our first home and we are so excited for the move in too!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today-
If you have the funds, the “void room” could turn into an expanded kitchen.
I love seeing how their relationship has progressed over the years. 😭❤️ I’m so happy for them.
wait till they break up
@maxstro7033 yikes dude
Oooh maybe remote curtain/blinds for the TV room could work.
It’s been really fun hearing the plans and seeing how excited y’all are for the new house! Best of luck with the move!
In the long run if you could move the “extra” room wall back and make it an extra bathroom. Since you have the water lines coming from the kitchen.
I’m exited for your new house. Hope everything turns out as you wish.
Btw:
In Germany we normally have our laundry in the bathroom or if you have a house there’s often a extra laundry room in the basement.
For the strange room idk what I’d do practically but dream-version I’d knock down the wall and expand the kitchen
I love this... having both Deli and James' perspectives on this house. It's such a treat to see their thought process. 😃
RUclips just recommended me this video again, probably because of Deli's vlogs of the renovations
It kinda makes me chuckle at the beginning James saying he won't show us the floorplan or any photo for privacy reasons, and now there are vlogs of the whole renovation on youtube, sweet evolution
Congratulations on the new house!
In the extra room maybe a cosy tv/reading room.
I have a lot of plants, books and musical instruments so I'd probably make it my urban jungle music reading room....
Same here for sure!
I also reeeeeeally wish sims would let you put walls on the half tile line! And a half tile length wall would be dope too
House looks great. I can't wait to see how you renovate the kitchen. Congratulations
You should definitely reno it to how you would if it was your dream so you and Deli can compare and blend for the real thing!
I love how concerned Deli is with having a good guestroom 😂 Our guests sleep in a room that is essentially the cat's room and my warderobe. Haven't gotten any complaints, though! Friends and family are often happy as long as they get a free place to crash!
It's been so long since I've heard James complain about a lack of small, circular tables. That used to be his signature complaint! XD
“Oh my, How the turntables have…” well perhaps you know the expression haha
This looks fantastic, I do want to see James version of the dream reno!!!! Deli's was amazing. Congrats on the new house soon! Suggestions for the nook on living room: could be a reading/collectable lounge nook. for quiet days with a book and tea to relax, brainstorm ideas etc. If you craft at all it could go there. You could have "transformation" furniture and use it for extra room for food with big groups to serve if needed or extra seating for those times as well. crafting, lounging etc. Change it as you have needs to utilize the space. if you have plants could make it a little like a 4 seasons room with that window to grow your own little plants, herbs for cooking, etc.
would love to see the dream renovation of this place actually
Office is used every day make sure it gives you joy!
We converted our formal dining into a “library” we lined one wall with ikea bookshelves and even got the stacking piece on top. And the other wall is a full wall gallery wall with travel photos, our degrees etc.
Use the spandrels instead of the archway!
And lastly do a dream version for sure!
I love this video from you. So fun to see your excitement in real life translate into the sims!
Good luck with the move! I hope you, Deli & Bowser are very happy in your new home.
Absolute yes to doing dream renos. If y’all decide to stay long term, I’d consider a reno that eliminated that flex room and allowed you to change the living room footprint as well as expanding the kitchen and putting in at least another half bath.
James: this isn’t my dream build, but here’s my dream desk and dream bookshelf 😂 I would love to see your dream build to compare to deli’s
Congrats on the new house! Moving houses is very exciting. ❤
Not me wattching this 2 yrs later and he actually has a very similar bookshelf backround now 👏👏livin the dream
And if you want a workout space, you could use the space bedroom for that and put in a Murphy bed or something like it for when people spend the night, that way the room will also be for more use and not just for once every 6 months (or what it was 😋) and the closet could potentially be an easy place to move equipment into when people stay over 😊
Yep, all of this!
I think they should upload the shell to the gallery and have the community redesign the existing house with their furniture. Then in a few months have the community renovate the house to make it a dream home…see what the Sims community will come up with😉
That extra dining room space could be a nice office! and then use the tiniest room as a gym
Lowkey want y’all to do a shell challenge with the layout of your new house so we suggest bonkers decorating ideas …
I feel this is James's passive aggressive way of letting deli know which room he wants for office haha 😂
the layout and furnishing is so aesthetically pleasing! minimal + clean
Everyone who's ever tried to build their own place in The SIms 4: We need to be able to build on the half tile!
In a dream world you could renovate the extra dining room into a second bathroom! And if it’s too large then you could fit a walk-in pantry in aside it as well to free up more kitchen space. Congratulations on the home!!
I hope everything will go well when you’re moving ☺️
We have an outdoor loveseat and 2 matching rocking chairs around a propane fire pit. Then a storage BBQ counter type thing, a grill, and a smoker. That outdoor space would probably be nice for that! Lots of plants and you can't go wrong.
I think the second lounge room/living room should be Bowser's room LoL 😂
James should definitely have his room of choice, he spend so much time in there, and it’s his house too. He should feel good in it.
A small guest room, is no problem, as guests will only stay for a short time, and the walk in closet will be a nice spot for people’s suitcases etc.
Also, please do a dream Reno James🙏
Very happy for you guys! Can’t wait to see the house tour👏
