Grief is such a weird thing. Good to see you showcase the gift from your grandpa, those are all small steps to work through the loss. Thank you for the vlog!
I couldn’t look at a picture or any of my dads belongings for almost a whole year after he passed. It’s now 3 years since he’s been gone and I have memories of him all over the house. It hurts but it keeps their spirit alive 💙
The end made me smile but also feel sad. We lost someone in my family recently too and I can definitely relate. Sending Deli a big hug. 💖

Cried a little when you talked about your grandpa and the book he gave you. He sounds like someone who will always be fondly remembered.

I never know what to do. I don't want to distract them and be in the way. But I also don't want to appear as if I'm ignoring them either ha! I usually just end up telling them I'll be on the other side of the house if you need me. lol
So very excited to see the Home coming together. Tears remembering loved ones are completely normal don't ever worry about sharing those moments. How special to have those keepsakes from your Grandparents. 💚💚
Where the water heater used to be, you should make use of that space! You can put shelves in there. Would add so much character!
Also I'd love to see you two try to do some mini reno type projects in the home 😜

There is something so cool and beautiful about the fact that you guys are now together, share a life and are making a home together. Like you started out on two different points and had your roads cross thanks to a lifesimulating game. Thank you for sharing your everyday with us, your story is my favourite modern day lovestory and I wish you the best.
I just two days said goodbye to my last grandma. Family are so important and no matter how much time passes, one always remembers and physical objects always make me smile with all the good memories. It's important to have them and important to appreciate them ❤️ The furniture is amazing! The house is looking more like a home and a space reflecting you two!

The spot where the new hole in the wall is can be turned into built in shelving!! It’s super common in old homes to use the space between studs to create built in storage. It’s useful and personally I think it looks super good
I *love* these slice of life videos. As someone who's been watching both you and James on YT for years, seeing you both now coming into "adulthood" is so heartwarming!! It reminds me of me and my hubby when we first started living together and raising our kids together. I used to catch him doing things like little repairs or whatever and I'd be like, "aww!! So handsome!!" I just love that for you (and James)!! ❤❤ Also Bowser supervising the tradesperson as he fixed the wall. Well done, Bowser!! 😘🥰 -- Ooh!! And I REALLY LOVE that new shelf with the picture above it!! It looks SO nice and lived in!! Things are really coming along and I'm so proud of and excited for you both!!

Btw, the shallow cuts under the coffee table top are indeed to stop it warping. Solid wood will "breath" - it continues to expand and contract with the change in moisture in the air and the temperature, so they add these kinds of grooves where you can't see them to ensure it doesn't warp. My dad is a master cabinet maker working with all solid timber here in NZ, so I've picked up a thing or two about furniture from him xD

Grief is such a funny thing. And it will hit at the most inopportune times. I lost my dad only two years ago and I will be driving not even thinking of him and then out of nowhere, BAM! I’m a sobbing mess. Don’t be afraid to show emotions. You are human too. It’s a nice reminder to people that you do feel sadness. It touched me to see the human side of the ever smiling Deli. (And I like the ever smiling Deli side too.) So many hugs to you.
Bowser is so precious looks like he's supervising the work. I love watching Deli and James showing all the work that goes into their house.
Oh deli, I can see how much you love your Pa. I’ve been weepy this week over my Granny. She past a few years ago but I can’t seem to shake the grief this week. I have an apron that she used to wear and it still smells like her to this day. When I smell it I’m instantly transported to her arms in her comforting embrace, and I can’t help but cry every time. There’s no love quite like a grand parent and grandchild’s loves for each other. ❤️

Pa lives on in you, Maddy, through your memories, your thoughts, your actions, and the things about you that are so like him. Knowing him shaped you into the person that you are. A part of him will always be there with you and James in your new home. 💙💙

Hi Deli, I am a grandmother and I just have to tell you that I am truly so inspired by you. The apple certainly did not fall far from the tree- I love that you were so loved and nourished by your grandfather!! Grief is soo hard, please be as kind to you in those moments as your grandparents would be, hugz!!!!

Grief is like that. It sneaks up on you. It’s ok to just feel what you’re feeling.

First off your home is so cute..it's coming along so great I love it. You and James are real people and it's so nice to see how genuine you both are with each other and your watchers. Never apologize for getting teary eyed. My granddad gave me his Sherlock Holmes stories before he passed and the funny thing was I gave that to him as a gift as a child it's like the book came back to me full circle. Everytime I see it I get teary eyed too and that's ok cause it good memories..not bad. Y'all look so happy and I don't know you all but that makes me happy. Kisses for Bowser..he's such a sweetheart xoxo ❤️
My grandmother passed in 2019 and my therapist said something that I always think about when I miss her. Grief is love for someone who is no longer there, so that love doesn't know where to go and can bubble up as good memories or sometimes as tears. But when you're feeling grief for someone you lost, you're feeling love. Hugs to you!

Glad you and James are finally getting settled into your new home, it's looking beautiful, I love the combination of greens and wood furniture. All natural tones, that's also my style. Thank You for sharing such touching moment of the books your grandparents gave you, I lost my father when I was 18, and even today I still get emotional seeing pictures and thinking about him. Looks fantastic so far Deli and James! Grief can act in weird ways. I lost my grandma nearly 11 years ago, and there’s never a moment or day I don’t stop to remember her. It’s fantastic to see you recognise your granddad in a special way. 💛
It made me sad to see deli cry 😥 losing someone is never easy unfortunately. On a happier note I love these vlogs I literally can't get enough of them. I really hope you guys continue to make more ❤

Grandparents are so special. I lost my grandpa a few years ago and we just lost my grandma at the end of January and it has been so hard. I miss them both every single day. The old heater space would be fantastic for shelving! Either some nice wood, or even glass shelves. Great space for collectibles and plants.
You could always add shelving to that cut out, the old heater cut out. Perfect spot to do it in. Just add a mirror and shelves. Loving the place.

I feel this with the books. My grandfather passed almost 10 months ago and I have a couple of his books, its a nice reminder of him but does make me cry some days as I miss him

Today is the anniversary of the passing of my grandmother, so when you started crying over your grandfather's books I completely lost it, but in kind of a cathartic way. Grief comes in waves for sure. I completely understand. When my grandmother died, I still felt like I was struggling as an adult and a mother of little kids. So much has changed in the years since she's been gone. I wish I could show her, like hey Nanny, don't worry anymore - we're okay, we've made it! I imagine you feel the same from time to time about your new home and your grandpa. We just need to know they're still with us and rooting for us!

Seeing your tears at the end really hit me. I understand how you feel and it instantly made me cry too... I've lost my mom in 2020 and am still trying to cope with her loss. Thanks for being so open about your grief and making me not feel alone in the pain.
What beautiful gifts Deli, it's always hard when you're grieving for the ones that make such a memorable impact in our lives, even if its a familiar sent or past gifts and birthday cards even though years pass it just feels like they should always be there with us and in a way they always will be. Oh my, you tearing up about your Grandpa made me tear up about my Grandpa immediately :( I miss him so much, even just the little things. I don't really have anything physical to remember him by except for photos and one of his old shirts. It's been eight years since he passed and it still feels so strange without him! I hope your new life with James and Bowser in your beautiful new house will make you happy and will help you overcome all the grief, you absolutely deserve all the happiness in the world! Grief is so bizarre. My grandparents died 5 years ago 16 days apart, the other day I was on Amazon browsing around and came across one of those old water filled type punch button hand held game things (i dont know what you call them) that looked exactly like one my grandma used to keep in her car for us to keep us entertained on the beach. Im 35 now and I know I havent thought of that thing since the last time I played with it which was maybe age 6 or 7 but that memory hit me like a ton of bricks and I immediately ordered it and it has a new home on my bedroom shelf. I love this vlog and your home!

I loved this video Deli! We are (literally as I type this) having laborers demolish walls in our kitchen/living room areas to make a much bigger and cohesive place. I can’t wait until it’s all done and I can get to the point y’all are at in getting furniture and decor! The house is looking lovely and it’s so special to have pieces of your Pa. ❤️ I lost my Papa and have pieces from him around my house as well. It’s wonderful to think all these people before us helped build and shape us into who we are. We owe them so much for that.

Loved this, looking forward to more ☺️ What lovely messages in those books it’s lovely to have something physical to remember loved ones by. I’ve got a bunny teddy that my Grandad gave to me shortly before his passing, almost 20 years later and she is my favourite belonging. I’ve recently got her back from my 11yo niece who was looking after her for the last 7 or so years, she loved and treasured her as much as I do ❤️

Loving seeing your progress with your home. I can really empathize with your emotions around the beautiful gifts from your Pa - I lost both of my grandparents within 9 months of each other in this last year. It just goes to show how special these keepsakes are and serve as reminders of very important people in our lives x
