    I love that you go quickly and don't take a lot of time over-explaining everything, like some crochet tutorials. I learned to crochet completely through RUclips videos, and yours are my favorite. Thank you! :D

    Out of all the Crochet channels on You Tube, I find myself coming back to Crochet Crowd all the time... Easy to follow, flows well... And easy to pick up the techniques :)

    Thanks for the instruction. I found it very easy to follow. I recently took up crocheting again after not having done it for almost 30 years. I did so because, one day, I noticed a small granny square blanket I'd made once still looks almost new-- and it dawned on me everything that blanket has gone through: two children playing with it (who are now in college) innumerable moves, cats, dogs-- you name it. Crocheted work lasts!

    This is an awesome tutorial! Thank you! My grandma was teaching me to crochet when I was 15 and we really didn't get to it all before she passed away. Now I can make a granny square afghan!

    @mikeyssmail thanks, Mikey. I figured it out, after noticing the cross shape in the middle with the gaps between the crosses arms. I'm very visually mathmatic, I see everything as a pattern, like a mosaic. These really were simple to make once I learned it. I've made 22 without "messing up" or having to start one over. Thanks for your videos. They helped much more than the other granny square vids I watched on youtube.

    @gentlenurse82 these squares take practice.....keep on trying :) at the beginning you should have 4 main puffs or clusters of stitches like a cross and thin stitches where you chained two attaching them ....these thin chain stitches is where you want to add you next round of corners .....pay attention to your corners!!! (3dc ch2 3dc) let me know if you need more help...... cathy @ mikeys helpdesk :)

    they may stretch enough and look ok if not the smaller ones might pull on the others....you might want to take the smaller squares and try adding a sc border around the edge of the whole square to make them as big as the other larger squares ..this will help when joining them and will get them to be all the same sz ....hope that helps cathy@ the crochet crowd :)

  • @TheCrochetCrowd
    @TheCrochetCrowd  12 лет назад

    you chain 1 in-between the corners but on the corners you chain 2....so its (3dc ch2 3dc) on corners and 3dc and a chain 1 after in-between....

    @bunnywitclass ok....if your square is going round that is telling me you are not getting your corners done right.....you need to do 3dc ch2 3dc on each corner to make it pointy....keep trying and pay close attention to your corners and I think you will get it.....good luck....let me know if you need more help.....cathy@ mikeys helpdesk :)

    my personal preference---as a very very beginner, would be to not worry about the straggle end at all....that can be sewn in later....i am having alot of difficulty learning the granny square.....i also have to keep pausing and starting over, perhaps you can make one that goes really really slow?

  • @D0R4H

    @missmorgan04 Mine were coming out like that.. you have to keep going.. if you do corners right it will square out.. I got frustrated trying to self teach... and I would start with a circle. Girr It was frustrating.. but finally watched this and tried. Its square!!

    You need to update the video with the joining the square at the corner with a HDC.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  4 года назад

      Do you think I should just delete this one? It's really old.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  4 года назад

      I learned that concept just a few years ago. I do have other projects that show that. However, Yarnspirations doesn't always use that when the colour changes, they do this. When they don't change colour, the hdc is used.

    I am making a granny square blanket as one continuous square with multiple colors of yarn. As my square grows and I hold it up it starts to look crooked. I am not missing any stitches. What am I doing wrong. Am a supposed to turn my work on a granny square?

  • @gentlenurse82
    @gentlenurse82 12 лет назад

    Determining what is a corner and what it not a corner (to put the hook through) seems to be my downfall. Mine comes out very round, lacking distinguishable "corners". I see many holes, I have no earthly idea which holes in this round cluster of yarn are "corners." When completed, I take my non-uniform, uneven product and stretch it into a square shape. This makes me feel somewhat more accomplished.

  • @andrielisilien

    I don't mean to sound ungrateful but you are going too fast with the tutorial. I kept replaying the bit where you did the "turn" on the corners in Round/Row 2 because I couldn't see where the crochet hook was being placed... your left thumb was in the way.
    I ended up figuring it out by studying the finished piece you have laying down in the background because there is no way I could see where the double crocheting was happening.
    Just something to keep in mind for the future.

      Try pausing the video at each step. Or find a picture tutorial. Sometimes a combination of the two forms of learning can be hugely helpful. Also, try their blog, Knot Just Another Blog (someone correct me if I'm wrong! It's late .. ). If you go to the FB page or sign up for the Newsletter, you can find other helpful folks, like me, who'd be more than willing to help. Just msg me if you like =)
