didn’t realize how long ago this video was made lol. anyway wanted to say thank you i’ve been wanting to make a never ending granny square throw blanket for my grandma but hated the slip stitch every rotation. so thank you so much for this very clear pattern:)
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I am a crocheter for about 50 years, and sometimes my mind just doesn't see what the directions say. You doing the tutorials makes everything much more clear. I love them and I go to them many many times :-) Eileen
I just want to say THANK YOU! I am a beginner crocheter and I've watched tons of tutorials, but yours is the easiest to follow. Thank you and I look forward to watching your other tutorials!!!
Thank you so much for teaching this in a way I can understand and you are so patient with explaining how to do it. I thought I had saved this video but something went wrong and it wasn’t there but I finally found it again today . I plan on making this in a few days . Again thank you.
Absolutely love how you show how you are doing the project! I have made 2 of these but it’s been awhile and I have an order for one from a customer. I started selling my items at our local farmers market 😊
Best and easiest to follow instructions I have came across and believe me I have viewed 100's!! I love crocheting (now that I'm finally getting the hang of it) thank you Mikey
Thanks so much for this tutorial!!!!!!! I made a throw for my daughter using this technique. The whole video is great, but the last few minutes (how to finish off) were GOLD. Super easy, it came out very polished looking, and no one needs to know it was my first blanket where the edges are actually even all the way around, lol. You're a doll, thanks again! Keep up the good work!
Honestly, once people put it on and they have it keeping them warm on the couch, the late thing they worry about is the stitchwork or the final round. :D
Thank you so much. I have been viewing tons of videos of granny squares and they are a bit confusing, but I love this one. I have been doing this for days. I have decided to not only use your advice, but make a huge blanket out of one granny square and it is working. It is my first successful blanket, so soon I will get more advanced, but right now, I want to do this. Anyway, Thanks it is the easiest I have came across so far
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I can’t tell you how many times I have come back to it to start a new blanket. I forget once I’ve don’t other patterns. You are easy to follow and very clear instructions. Thank you, happy hooking (crocheting 😄)
Finally found a granny square that i can do. Thankyou. I'm also a leftie. Thankyou for explaining it at a good pace almost finished this in a queen size blanket
Thank you, thank you. I have watched so many videos and your video was the only one that actually helped. Most videos I couldn't see what they were doing. They're fingers were in the way. I was getting so frustrated. I told my husband that you were a great teacher. Keep up the great work.
Yeah it's tough as you need fingers to crochet. I have had to learn to pull my hands back during filming even though it makes it harder for me. Camera angles are a huge deal as well.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have self taught myself how to crochet a little over 2 months ago, and I follow videos rather than written patterns. So far I've whipped 3 of these blankets out in a month. So simple and I have very happy recipients!
Once again wonderful job! You make crocheting so easy and I wanted to thank you. Watching your tutorials has made me so much better. Before I found you all I knew how to do was the dc. I've made booties, a sweater and now this beautiful baby blanket in less than a week. Thank you so much and know you have a new fan!
OMG MICKEY! I can see how this was a "Never Ending" project for you! This is awesome! When you Start in the second row I could see where you were headed! Now for your 3rd row, it all starts to come together! 3 - 2 - 3! / The Runway! I love it! It's really not complicated! I wonder when you bring in different colors? Can we? Beautiful Project! I Love You! TY!
Now that I have started using this pattern I definitely do not want to go back to sewing up lots of squares, it is just so easy and would recommend it to everyone who loves to crochet.
Love the way teach, it’s very to you. Wish I could subscribe, but on a fixed income. But I do love you and wish more men would get involved in the arts. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for the great pattern Mikey. I've seen and tried to follow a lot of various crotchet tutorials and you're a wonderful teacher. Can't wait to get to the next project! Thanks again :)
This is so awesome, the other day I started a traditional granny square from one of your tutorials, and at first it was great, but then I kept screwing up the corner bit where you have to slip stitch 8( So I'm gunna try this one instead because for me it looks much better and it'll be great for me to get the hang of the double crochet. Thanks!!! xxx
Hi Mikey, I'm new to the Crochet Crowd and new to crochet in general. I love your videos as they are so descriptive. I'm totally blind so for me description is key to understanding crochet. I just have one question, after I complete the stitches in the ring, where do I go? To I make a corner? I mean where do I go after I chain up four? Thanks for your help. Allie
Do you know how amazing you are? You really know your stuff, explain things very plainly at a good pace, and do your part to help the crochet community. Oh, and you're a guy. Simply fantastic.
This was a very very good video. I have worked numerous rows so far and hope to go to the three strand one next. I have no desire to combine more colors than that yet. Lol. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video I absolutely love it, it is genius. I’m using the one strand method and I would like to change colors every so often can you suggest the best way for me to do that thank you so much again I hope you’re doing well🙏🏻
Hi Mikey, THANK YOU!! I was about to give up until I found this tutorial, it's wonderful! I found many tutorials demonstrating the granny square, but I found myself nodding off in between each stitch, too slow! LOL! Your speed is perfect, and you can talk and crochet at the same time!! Love it! Thanks again! Lindsay
yes....you can do one or two or as many as you want.... Just start the pattern by making your square and then only add the other colors you want to and then carry them around and around to get the size you want cathy@ the crochet crowd
I am SO happy to find this! I have wanted to make a blanket but since I am a newbie, I was scared to try! I can totally do this! THANK YOU! Just a quick question... If I wanted to make a 4 foot granny square, about how many grams of yarn (worsted) would I need? Thanks again Mikey! You are *awesome* :)
Hi Mikey let me just say I love this tutorial! I was wonder if there's away to apply this to a solid granny square. Or if you have a tutorial for how to do this on a solid granny square?
you could make a granny square that grows as you go around by using a pattern that works in full rounds and slip stitches but this particular pattern is done at the beginning that way so you can carry the rows around without slip stitching.... maybe if you look around online you will be able to find a pattern that doesn't make the corner this way but still gives you the look you want....cathy@ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)
mickey there is another easier way to make the corner and is less complicated once you cone to the corner you slip stich into the corner of the double crotchet and that closes off the square so you can move on to another round or TI change colors it is so much easier to this I hope you understand. thanks love your tutorials too
I apologize..... Im Not sure I understand your question here?? this afghan grows bigger and bigger as you go around and around on its own....that means the stitch count is increasing with each round or row as well....so keep going around until the blanket is the size you want it to be ...... does that help? Cathy@ TCC helpdesk :)
I am making a baby blanket & I wanted to use the never ending granny square. I learned how to d it about 5 years ago & am just now picking it back up. I noticed that in your video you skipped a hole and made the corner in the 4 stitches next to it. you said it will be the corner that pulls it all together but i noticed that it made the blanket look funny. It had a big hole and kind of bunched the blanket up in that area. I don't remember doing that. Isin't their a way to do it without a big hole
Mikey this is my very first blanket I started with you and I made one that fits my queen size bed what I like to ask you is can the holes of the holes be a small opening if so can you tell me as I'm making one for my football team colours of white black and teal these are Port Adelaide from down under Australia love your videos thank you
Mikey. I love your videos, I've learned so much.. I have a question i want to do a cross stitch blanket that I learned from you.. but how many chains do I need for a queen size
You had a video a while back making a 'solid' granny, never ending afghan. I recall you sitting at a wood table. Somewhere in the video you heard Daniel say a naughty word (which I never heard). You chained 4 in the corner and as you turned each corner, we double crocheted 2 on each 'side' of the corner. Anyway, is that still on? I've made it several times, but it's been a while.
That's a great idea! I have alot of scrap yarn and don't know what to do with it. Or I could just make small granny squares and add them all together but that would take a very long time. I like yours better. Lol. I could make a rainbow blanket out of the scrap yarn instead. 😜
Michael why do you not use a magic circle when forming a circle like a granny square... it make a better closed circle when crocheting.. just wondering..
I'd like to make this beautiful pattern, but would like to start like a traditional granny square (because of the color changes) then make it never ending one. How would I do that?

This is my go to tutorial. I’ve watched it so many times over the years. Like today 🤣
I saw this about 18 years ago and went crazy trying to find it.
Mikey, you're a real catch. I know exactly zero men in my life who do yarn related anything.
Thank you again for this tutorial. I have to come back to it every time I do this blanket.
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I am a crocheter for about 50 years, and sometimes my mind just doesn't see what the directions say. You doing the tutorials makes everything much more clear. I love them and I go to them many many times :-)

You could use a stitch marker to mark where you skipped the original corner to start growing the square as a way to know where to finish, right?
Would it. E possible to do a video to show how to do the endless granny square in two colours? Thank you!
It's possible but I have to re-write a new pattern and create a sample if I do that.
I'm thinking I could do a scrap yarn granny square blanket with this technique
That's a great idea! I have alot of scrap yarn and don't know what to do with it. Or I could just make small granny squares and add them all together but that would take a very long time. I like yours better. Lol. I could make a rainbow blanket out of the scrap yarn instead. 😜
