There are so many different granny squares. I use to know it by heart. Thank you. This is the square I taught myself when I was in high school. I am 71 years young 😊 and you saved my anxiety. This is what calms me down. I crocheted my mother who is 92 in her own apartment an afghan. It was a king size afghan. She still has it and it looks like new. I used this exact pattern. 😅😅😅 Thank you so much. I have subscribed to you. I'm so exhilarated. ❤❤❤❤

Raise the flag and phone the neighbors! A beginners tutorial that actually behaved as if it were for...well, beginners. I found this video to be truly instructive (thanks for slowing things down!) and helpful on so many levels, but especially with regard to the geography of the square, and the way that geography changes as you add more rounds. Seems a simple enough concept, but nowhere in the dozen or so other videos I've watched was the pattern broken down to "dc 3, chain 2, dc 3". Six dcs is not the same as 3dc, chain 2, dc 3. NOW, after your vid, I can recognize the patterns of the stitches, and where the real holes are. After about 13 attempts this week, i was finally able to successfully crochet a granny square. Thank you!

I am glad you told the beginners to turn their work on the Granny Square pattern because it will keep the pattern/square in a nice square shape. If a person does not turn their work the square gets a slant or sort of a spiral wonky shape. You have made a helpful tutorial 🧶

If they have not you may want to check with your local JOANN store as they offer lessons in person.Your local yarn store most likely has people who can offer help or lessons. A little one on one teaching lessons could make all the difference. I know that is what made the difference for me. I started crocheting through a friend’s couple of in person lessons. Best Wishes on your practicing results.

Best tutorial I’ve seen for this! I could single crochet straight things and make a circle if I’m following a pattern but just could not get anything else to work! Two videos later I’m sincerely frustrated, I watch yours, and BINGO! Thank you!!!

This is the first video I've found that I've actually succeeded in making a granny square with - You've done a great job of explaining! Thank you so much!!

I can't tell you how thankful I am that you took the time to show this down. I've been crocheting for a bit now and everything I have made seemed a little "off" 🤔. The first stitch of 3 I never counted as a link 😲 so things just never turned out. Now, well.... dag, I'm making a huge blanket with double crochet and puff stitches using this pattern. I have to say, so far I love it!

For the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I understand how to do a slip stitch to get the yarn on my crochet hook. For 45 years I've been holding the hook between my knees, and making a knot around the crochet hook. THANK YOU!!!! hugs, Jeanie

This is a fantastic very beginner lesson! I did slow some parts down even further, so I could really see what to do 😄 which was so great to be able to do. The very up close shots also very helpful. Thank you!!

A massive help I’ve found is after the first four loops at the beginning, right before you make the centre loop, put a safety pin in the middle before you create it to keep the spot

I’ve watched so many granny square videos and this is the only one that has truly helped. Granted I’ve watched this video about 10 million times but I can finally granny square 🎉🎉🎉

Yay!!!! Finished my very first granny square in a pale yellow yarn thanks to this video! I’m glad I took more time learning the crochet basics before jumping in; I picked this up right away :)

Thank you so much! Looked everywhere for a slow, detailed video of a granny square. I could straight crochet fine, but granny squares just drove me crazy. Now, it makes complete sense.
    Beautifully done!

Thank you so much. I haven't made a granny square in years. This was so helpful. What I love is I can stop, rewind, and play again. I appreciate you doing this video.

Omg thank you. Some other chick was so confusing and I couldn't get it - I watched her video 4 times and kept coming out with a heart shape and while that's cute, it wasn't what I wanted!! One time watching you and I'm granny squaring away!! Thank you!!!

I just started teaching myself how to crochet. My first piece was pitiful because I didn't have a clear understanding of where to place my hook into the yarn for a HDS. I also didn't know what it meant to turn your work. I made the prettiest granny square with your tutorial and gave it to my daughter as a gentle washcloth for my new grandson. I'm so glad I found your channel and you have a natural gift for teaching. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us beginners. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for doing this! I’ve been crocheting for 12 years and just barely learned this awesome granny square thanks to you. I appreciate your patience and efforts to not only go slow but break it down so someone like me can understand it and catch on quick.
