I love how you break down the instructions and you don’t assume that people know any of the terms. Your camera angle is perfect because the shot is clear and nice and close. The other thing you do great is that you stopped and, with the needle showed where to put the hook. You understand that for beginners all of the holes look the same. To further reach all of your learners you have notes typed on the video. It’s clear how much effort you put into your tutorials. Just an observation from a teacher…and a student of crochet. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm so glad it was helpful!
Totally agree with Ninette. Awesome teacher
@@erica_arndt would it be possible to chain one instead of 2 on a corner to provide a more complete and less holey looking product?
Hello, dear friend, I also have motif training on my channel. Thank you for being with me on my channel
Sure, give it a try and see if you like it better! :)
THIS IS THE FIRST VIDEO IVE FOUND THAT
● IS CLOSE UP ENOUGH and
● GOES SLOWLY ENOUGH
to re-learn from years ago and teach my granddaughters!
THANK
YOU
SO
MUCH !!!!!!!
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! :)
I 100% agree!!! This is, BY FAR, one of the EASIEST patterns I have ever found to follow! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMPREHENSIVE, AND YET SIMPLIFIED, STYLE OF DEMONSTRATING CROCHET PATTERNS! YOU HAVE A GIFT, THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!!! ❤
I will MOST DEFINITELY be "blocking" my squares (I had never heard of this before, I learned so much from your video, and I am by no means a newbie to crocheting- I was taught by my grandmother as a young girl, which I am nowhere near any longer, LMAO!)
9 o’clock. Wonderful! I can actually make aa grannies square
,
Sometimes your video goes blurry 🙄
Not helpful!
You are the first creator that has made it possible for me to FINALLY learn how I can do, not only a granny square but also switch colors. I love how in depth you go and that you follow through the entire project. Absolutely LOVE that you put the instructions on the top of video too while doing that particular stitch. You’re an amazing teacher, thank you so so much 🥹!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad the video was helpful!! :) Make sure to share your project so I can see!
I want to learn to crochet and I came to RUclips to start watching some tutorials. I saw your comment and this is amazing! I can’t wait to finish this video now!! Not a lot of creators follow through like that.
I couldn't agree more. Tonight I made my first successful granny square thanks to this video🎉
🎉
@@shabbygirlmosaics your weird
I’m typing this comment after completing my FIRST ever granny square. And I just want to say THANK YOU. You made it so easy to follow along. I am grateful!!
Great job! I'm so glad the tutorial was helpful!
Thank u very much. It was made easy.please tell me about the yarn. Longing to make lots
I agree!
This is legitimately the best ever beginner tutorial for a granny square. I thank you young kind lady for taking your time to do this!
I agree! Never understood any other ones
Totally agree!
Agree! Happy crocheting
This is the video that taught me crochet. The first video I can actually follow along!
One very small granny square was the beginning of what started to be a college dorm bed when my daughter was in school.
When it was meant to to be finished for her graduation, I kept on with it and it turned into a wedding gift for when she got married, after school.
At that time it had become a king size blanket.
I made a second one, same size for one of my sons ..
Very satisfying.
While working on them, the blankets went with me to many Dr appointments for myself....crochet pouch and all 👍👍👍
I’ve watched countless granny square tutorials and this was by far the easiest to follow. Immediately subscribed. You’re a fantastic teacher!
I agree!!!!
I'm a knitter and have always been confused by granny squares, but finally (!!!) with your video I understand! Thank you!!!!!!!
Likewise! I'm a knitter who's been struggling with crochet and this was the first video ever to get me to make a successful granny square lol
I watched this video today and made my very first granny square at age 60. My mom has been a lifelong person with the talent for knitting and crocheting, but I never picked it up. Your tutorial was amazing and I love all your tips to make it easier along the way such as not having all of your ends to hide when you’re done. Thank you so much!
I love the idea of doing one giant granny square for a blanket… I may try that 🧶
This is the best granny square tutorial ever. I’ve only been crocheting for a couple weeks and haven’t even completed a crochet project what I would consider “successfully” but I just made a perfect granny square on the first try thanks to this video! You do a great job explaining things in a way that makes sense and going slow enough.
This is such a clear video - love that you wrote the instructions on the top as you crocheted the block- and did it through the entire block - you were super patient and repetitive - loved that. I’m a crochet newbie and I totally feel like I can do this now. I think making a bag is a great idea - can’t wait to see it. Thanks so much for this tutorial! .
All of this above! I want to have my kids do it with me. They don’t understand when I tell them. Maybe they will like this!
Hello, dear friend, I also have motif training on my channel. Thank you for being with me on my channel
I'm a total beginner and this video is fantastic, I've learned so much. It really makes me want to to get stuck into practice. . I'm in Ireland but find the US language for crochet so much easier. This video really inspires and makes you feel like you can do it and if you take your time, practice and enjoy it.. you'll make some amazing pieces. Thank you
literally the only person on youtube that can actually explain how to crochet without making it overly complicated or simplified to the point it turns out bad
Thank you so much for your wonderfully clear tutorial. I’m an avid knitter and have only made little crocheted shells for edging on various items. I’m now confident enough to tackle a granny square, thanks to you sweet lady. Can’t wait to try to make a little table topper for my daughter. She will love it!! God bless!
oh thank GOD. finally someone who knows how to make a tutorial
Best tutorial for anyone learning Granny Square. Thank you !❤
At last! After several failed attempts, I've finally found a granny square video with instructions that I was able to make sense of and follow. I'm jubilantly about to finish my first ever proper Granny square! Thank you so much for your wonderful, clear guidance! :D
Oh good, I'm so glad the video was helpful! :)
Hello, dear friend, I also have motif training on my channel. Thank you for being with me on my channel
You’re such a great teacher step-by-step slowly is so great for us grandmother’s
My husband is out of the country and my daughter went off to college and I'm suddenly finding needlework in the evening is JUST THE THING. Thank you for this fun and crystal clear tutorial, you helped my granny squares look much less wonky than the ones I tried to make last night. I'll be back for more! Thank you.
I've tried MANY videos. But yer the 1st to help!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support! I'm so glad the video was helpful!! :)
I just want to say thank you for the clear and concise instructions… I am an avid knitter but I have a fear and aversion to crocheting because of the
verbal abuse my grandmother gave me every time I try to crochet something as a child... My hands literally were shaking making the first 4 corners.. .. thank you for showing how to do a double crochet as not everyone knows how to do those… Appreciate your video ..again thank you so much .. sincerely..
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I'm sure you're doing an amazing job with your granny squares!
I finally crocheted my first granny square! Thank you so much with your tutorial! Can’t wait to get a whole bunch done to make a bag!
This is the BEST tutorial for beginner crocheters. I tried watching several other videos and was so frustrated with something from everyone. Your tutorial was spot on. Right speed, easy directions, and easily explained. I've only been crocheting for a week and just made the most beautiful granny square. I'll be watching your other videos.
Finally, bless you woman!! I’ve only watched about 50 of these and everyone else over confuses it!! This is the best tutorial, I can now do a granny square! Thank you 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!
I've been self teaching myself to crochet for awhile and this is the best video I've come across. Finally someone goes at the pace for beginners and really explains the reasoning behind why you do certain stitches, etc. Thank you so much!
1st time with the granny square! Tried at least 10 tutorials!!! You are an amazing teacher......Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're so welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Once thing you've done that no other person has done in their tutorials that I've seen is show how the part you're working on fits into the final product. It's actually so helpful. All these terms mean nothing to a beginner if the person doesn't explain how they work! At least to me. Thanks!
Excellent, I’m a beginner at the grand age of 62, love this and you’re a brilliant teacher. Thank you. 🥰
i learned how to crochet from different youtube videos but i have never seen a video like this one. its extremely begginer friendly. i even cry a little bit because it feels like someone teachs me how to crochet in person. thats the best tutorial, thank you so much
Thank You Erica, 65 years old and I did not know how to make a Granny Square, but, I did it with your wonderful tutorial. I am amazed, you are a very talented teacher! Thank you! Now let’s hope I remember😉🥳💐
This is an excellant tutorial. I must do this. My mom tried to teach me to crochet but I just couldn't learn it., now, many decades later I may learn it. Thank you Erica. I saved this video.
I’ve tried several different granny squares and ways to change colors. I like this best so far!! I’ve crocheted for 54 years. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Hey Erica .. thanks for the fantastic tutorial.. it’s been about 47 years since I made granny squares. I didn’t learn the terminology back then but with your guidance I think I can re-learn how to crochet. Now I need some fun yarn.
Finally, thank god for you, a video that actually explains and shows at a speed which i can follow, everything explained so calming and all the best advice in the world with it. Brilliant, i applaud you for your intelligence and approach, you have helped so many people including myself, you are so inspiring, your colours are beauitful , your style is amazing. Thank you soooooooo much!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Glad it helped!
This is one of the best crochet tutorials I’ve ever watched! Thank you 😊
This was the most clear and most beautiful tutorial on how to make a granny square and I enjoyed doing it as a beginner
Glad it was helpful!
thank you thank you!!!!!!! I have tried to crochet many times in the past and have always given up, today I made FIVE granny squares using your video!! Bless you!!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this video. Learning to crochet was becoming a huge challenge for me. This video helped me to figure things out! Thank you!
Yo me sentia 😤 frustrada y por fin lo logré. Siempre quise aprender a tejer a ganchillo y que manera de aprender con Erica. Super!
This is the best tutorial I’ve ever used. That ranges all my crafts. This lady’s got a true talent!! Keep teaching!
Man i have had the hardest time with finding the right video to learn a granny square. I was having the hardest time learning these! I blame it all the vids I was trying to learn from. FINALLY I found u and all is right with the world again! You're easy to follow along with because u assume everyone is a beginner which is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank u so so much, my granny square is beautiful
Erica, there are people in this world who have the gift to teach with patience, and you are one of those people. Because of only you, I have managed to successfully crochet some lovely squares. I’m using them to make myself a cardigan ( hand made cardigans like the one I want are so expensive ) so I’m determined to make my own and I’m so looking forward to wearing it. Thank you my lovely, all the way from England uk. ❤
Wow, thank you!
Thank you so much!!! I have been crocheting for at least 2 Years and I've never been able to make a granny square until now!!!! Thanks for this awesome video!!!! 😂
You are so welcome!
Thank you SO much!!! I was able to make a perfect Granny Square!! (It did take me 2 tries 🤭). You're the only one I've come across that does it slowly enough and doesn't cover what you're doing with your hands 😂😂😂 thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
I just started learning how to crochet yesterday and I’m so glad I found your video today! Thank you for your patience in this video by showing the steps slowly and repeating them for every colour. It makes your tutorial easy to follow for a beginner like me and also let me memorise the different stitches well! 💕 I managed to do my very first granny square and it turned out not so bad! ☺️🥳 Thanks again!!
This is my first time watching you. I like how explanatory you are that you made it very easy for me to understand.
Just made my first square and I'm thrilled .I'm making my granddaughters winter scarves. Perfect tutorial. Thankyou
I always wanted to learn making granny stitch. But couldn’t find good video. Thank you for your video u explained it perfect and u go slow and explain the chains. I can’t wait to try it ❤
Wow! This is the best tutorial I've seen on how to make granny squares! Thanks so much for a great tutorial...you are a great teacher!
Hi there. I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. I have been attempting to crochet for a few years now. And after watching your video, I am now almost completely finished with my very first granny square blanket.
As an experienced knitter I have struggled with learning crochet. Your tutorial was fabulous! I’m looking at my granny square as I type this! It’s not perfect, but it’s actually not too bad either! Thanks for the great instructions! ♥️🧶
Excellent video. I have been crocheting for 50 years, but the tips you give for things like changing colors/rows and always starting new rows in the corner are genius. I always disliked the method I used to change colors but thanks to you, I love my (or should I say your) new way of doing it. I would highly recommend this video for a beginner or ANYONE who has a love of crochet. You have a very soothing voice and give a beginner a feeling that they can do it. Thank you so much. I thoroughly enjoyed watching.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and it was helpful!! :)
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm an absolute beginner and it was so easy to follow. I made it so quickly and Im so proud of the end result!
Hands down my favourite granny square tutorial! I'm a beginner and I had the time of my life learning from you! Thank you 😊 🇿🇦
Beautiful video! My daughter and I are going to work on some granny square pants for her, I sent her this video to show her how to make the squares, as she's never crochet before. Very well described and filmed, thank you! ❤🎉
I am so HAPPY I found you! You are exactly the type of content I was looking for to help me get started on my crochet journey! I love how you break down each step including finishing off and not make us look for another video on other steps its all here in one video! I also love that after I make my squares I can make the bag with them and have a finished project not just a bunch of squares lying around lol! Thank you again!
Excellent teaching method. I appreciate the slow step by step instruction, the close up camera view and a review of crochet terms through out the video. Enjoyable learning experience. Thank you!
Super. I understood very clearly. U r a very good teacher.😊
Wow I do really appreciate your work, I maybe have watched a thousand tutorials of granny squares but none of them worked , thankyou for making this video
I only started crocheting yesterday and my mom was so impressed when i made one of these squares thank you so much for this amazing tutorial it was reeeeally helpful 💞
I love the colors for your granny squares. You explain it very well . ❤❤❤❤
I think this is easy enough for me too. I've learned the single and double stitches, so far. My biggest regret was not spending more time with my grandmother when I was younger. She lived in another state, and we would only be able to visit for a few days and a lot of family was always around, so it was crazy. She did beautiful work. She was very crafty,, which I believe I've inherited, but I've been afraid to start crocheting. Mainly cause every craft starts out little, then before I know it, I have a room full of yarn. But I'm trying to learn. So far, I've managed to make hanging dishtowels. Getting better.
I first began watching your granny square
Tutorial. To learn crochet, and I think I understand now , that you and other teachers, compose videos suited for us beginners! Thx🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶
I really enjoy all of your tutorials. You explain the craft to where I can understand! I am not good at crocheting but I’m still trying! Thanks! God bless!
Thank you so much for this video… you make it so easy to understand, I have watched so so many videos and none of my squares have been as good as this from following your video ❤
I’ve spent all day watching this video step by step over and over as I do it myself and I’m proud to say I think I might actually know what I’m doing! Thank you!!!!
See no matter how many times I watch this video hers comes out looking beautiful mine comes out looking like a cluster of knots.
Finally found a video that is practical, uses colors clear enough to see and the pacing is just right for a beginner. Thank you for repeating and not fast forwarding through the rows and talking through all the nuances of each row.
I have been watching your tutorials mainly for quilting...But your tutorial for the granny square was top notch and easy to follow that I'm going to try it one more time. Thank you for your tutorials! Pam
Its a MIRACLE GIRLY!! I learned the granny square with YOUR tutorial. I missed one thing in the beginning, To Yarn Over before the double crochets! and boom! Your tutorial has made me happier than I have been in a long time. I used to know loosely self-taught granny square but everything came out wonky. this year im learning 4r4r and Im in disbelief. I really think (its obvious by views, i think i searched you by views. but its obvious that you are the crochet tutorial queen!! BIG THANK YOU!! Chanay from Nw Ohio
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!! :)
Yes! After watching countless other granny square tutorials I think you explained it the best! So excited to add this to my patterns! Thank you!❤️💫
Glad it was helpful!
Oh GOD!!!! Finally someone out there who understood how difficult it is for begginers to understand excatlty "which step creates which design" . You taught why we are doing the particular round and it made the whole process so easy . I cant thank you enough. Thanks . Love from INDIA!
Thanks so much, I'm glad it was helpful! :)
this was the video that made me want to continue learning crochet. i was about ready to give up, but like everyone else says, you made the tutorial so clear and easy to follow. i can’t thank you enough ❤️
Your instructions were impeccable! You spoke clearly and the visuals are clear. I watched the video once to ensure I understood the process, then watched it a second time as I made my first ever granny square. I didn’t need the instructions for the 2nd and subsequent squares. Wonderful! Thank you!
This is the pattern my granny taught me how to make when i was around 9. Soooo long ago!!❤ Miss learning from her.
This was the BEST tutorial I have ever seen. Perfect pace and repetition. Even choice of colors for contrast. I wasn't able to use the volume right now and still feel got it. THANK YOU ❤️. I am "liking and subscribing"
Thank you so much!
I haven't made granny squares in a while thanks for the refresher. I love your colors. Spring colors.
Best video. I know how to crochet, self taught. My Nana always made granny square afghans and passed before she was able to teach me how to crochet. Thank you so much! Everyone is getting granny squares for Christmas this year!
The other day I was crocheting in a single strand, now I'm making beautiful granny squares. Thank you so much this was amazing and so clear! Better than any book I've read so far!!
I'm a crocheter and have always been confused by granny squares, but finally (!!!) with your video I understand!
Thank you dear -)
Just completed my first ever granny square using this video as a guide! Thank you!
This is the best beginner granny square tutorial. Each step was crystal clear and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you I love how you go slow for my 71 year old brain. I have tried so hard to learn with my grandma when I was a kid. How I know how to make Aranyaka square . I’m also left handed
Hands down the best video on RUclips for granny squares, you cover everything. 🙌
Everyone says to start with a granny square and a Magix circle... that's where we all abandon ship. You make it so easy, you make it make sense. Thank you. I share this to anyone who needs to learn a granny sqare.
I love this tutorial, thank you so much!! I’ve tried so many others and kept getting confused but this pattern is so easy. I love that it keeps repeating itself so it’s really easy for a beginner. I started off learning how to crochet a beginner flower so this was perfect for a second task - unfortunately I had to go through so many other videos before I found this. Thanks for being so clear and repetitive!!
Oh and I LOVE that you taught us using the needle to thread in the loose yarns first and then moved on to teach us how to hide it in when you thought we would be able to handle it - SO GOOD. I love love love how thoughtful that was!
I’m left handed but this video was so clear I had no issue at all.
Hello, dear friend, I also have motif training on my channel. Thank you for being with me on my channel
This is VERY beginner friendly and I cannot thank you enough! Your voice is also so pleasant and I can't get tired of learning from this video, it's so helpful! Thank you for being so kind and sharing your knowledge with us. I can't believe it's for free, too! =^^=
Loved your video!! Lots of patience showing us how to work the square! Definitely going to make some!! Thank you for your excellent tutorial!! 🤗
This is the video that helped me understand knots I just… could not understand while reading about them. You do a GREAT job showing exactly how your hook moves and where it goes without blocking it with your hand or angle of the camera. Thank you so much! I’m learning for the first time and I appreciate you! ❤
Perfectly explained and the close up images really clarify positioning of stitches and hook placement. Thank you, thank you Erica. I've seen other videos before and have been able to follow but not without backing up more than a few times. Fantastic!!
Maravilhoso trabalho amei!! Parabéns 🎉 Beijinhos.❤️❤️❤️👏🌷🍀
Can you show us how to join them pls?
This is a fantastic tutorial. I am an absolute beginner, and was getting frustrated trying to "master" double crochets in a longer row. Making a granny square, with your super detailed and easy-to-understand directions helps to really power through how awkward it can be for newbies. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve been crocheting longer than I care to mention but granny squares are my favorite! You did a wonderful job giving instructions.
Thank you so much!
I came into this video with very little crochet knowledge, only how to make a basic chain, and have created my very first granny square!! I'm thrilled. You broke down each step into its simplest form -- incredible. This is the fourth video I've clicked on trying to learn & yours was the only one I've been able to comprehend. So straightforward & thorough. Thanks for all the time you put into making this video. I'm making a granny square balaclava :)
I’ve got my squares made, I can hardly wait for the bag! Love your video and the way you teach!
I have literally never commented on a RUclips video before but this video SAVED MY LIFE I made an AMAZING Granny Square so fast, best video I have ever watched!!! THANK YOU!
Wonderful! I'm so glad it was helpful! :)
I love this. My mom was into doing Granny Squares. Make me want to pick this up. Thanks for doing this ❤️
Bravissima
Very professionally taught the instructions on how to make a granny square from beginning to end, love, love ,love this tutorial!
Learned so many new skills in this one tutorial! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤
So many bright, fun colors! How fun. :)
Omg this is the first tutorial in months that I’ve found that I’ve been able to actually follow along and make my very fist ever granny square! I’ve been teaching myself to crochet for a couple months now since I don’t have anyone around me that knows how to, so thank you so so much for this godsend of a tutorial!!
I really enjoyed this tutorial, thank you! I haven’t done crochet in about 30 years. I need to find my hooks and try again.
I just stopped back by to say that I literally had zero idea how to crochet before I found this video. I had a few skeins of yarn and some hooks that I won at a Christmas bingo party and I had always wanted to learn to crochet. I started googling and came across your page. BEST THING EVER! Thank you SO much for doing these videos! You make it so easy to learn, breaking down everything step by step! I’ve made a few dozen of these and they are SO fun to make! I will be back for more of your videos frequently! Keep up the good work, and again, THANK YOU!!!! ❤
