    thank you so much for this!!! i have decided i was going to do my own hair again because when i went to the salon, they had ripped my hair out. i cant ever trust salons 😢 even if i do my research and try to go to a good one with good reviews i always end up dissatisfied. I WAS going to just bleach all my hair BUT THIS! I AM GOING TO TRY THIS FIRST AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT A FULL BALAYAGE! THANK YOU ♥️♥️ hugs and good wishes to your family ☺️

I have a hairdresser girlfriend and she is amazed how it comes out and how it is possible that im doing it mysef. I even do hair extensions on my own. A small question- can you dye your hair when having tape in extensions on? Thank you in advance.

      @@ewaszymoniak5480 sorry i didnt know pol commented~ i know that you can dye and lighten extensions if they are natural hair but you have to be super careful because as they are hair extensions, they are more delicate and fragile.

    Thank you so much for sharing this method, I’ve been using it since I discovered your channel a couple of years ago. It’s really brightening and easy to do on yourself, a couple of babylights on the crown makes such a difference, it adds a lot of blonde. The main thing for me is that I get minimal damaged hair and a lot of blonde. The quality of the hair is much better with this method.

    Omg i am at the 5th minute still thunderstruck that she coloured her hair and THEN did the highlighting 🤩 where was I all these years lol😅 I imagine I can now do this with my “warmth banding” from previous colouring with that high lift color that’s left reddish banding… so powpowpow “base color” it down & then do fresh highlights. Amazing 🤩

    2 Questions:
    1. What ion color should I go with for the roots? 6NN or 7NN or an AG??
    2. Can or should I use a toner or toner combination of the T18 and T27, all over or just on blonde area afterwards??

      If your hair is natural, meaning not previously colored then a toner won't work. You'd have to use a permanent hair color all over to change the tone. I would stick with a beige or mix half ash and half neutral. If you use all ash it will probably result in either a green hue or possibly blue or lavender. Just a tip!

    • @funnygal4u2
      @funnygal4u2 8 месяцев назад

      Wella T18 and T27 say toner, but since they have to be used with 20 vol developer, they are actually color and will shift your hair if it is natural, meaning you have never colored your hair. And actually, you can use a toner on natural hair to tone down unwanted warmth or if u wanted to add warmer tones or deepen naturally dark hair or as an enhancer for reds and copper tones. You just can’t lift the hair with toners meaning u can’t use it to make hair lighter cause toners are deposit only and won’t provide any lift, which is why they are semi-permanent.

    Woah this is genius!!! I will absolutely try it out. ❤
    Is the first step with the base color like bleaching? Or is it a colour with a higher developer?
    The regrowth on my hair is pretty dark (level 3) and the rest of my hair is Level 7-8.
    Do I have to bleach all the black regrowth then, before putting on the base color - and then highlights?
    The eSalon kit is not available in my country :(

    • @stefaniemorgan8231
      @stefaniemorgan8231 Год назад +4

      I am not a professional, but do highlights at home on my level 4/5 hair. I recommend lifting first and diffusing the line of demarcation by doing teasy lights (teasing those super thin baby lights). If you're not covering gray hair at the root, a root tap then overall toner would work well. Just make sure not to overlap your bleach onto previously lightened hair because this could cause damage. I prefer 20 volume developer (low and slow) rather than 30. Because my hair is stubborn and doesn't lift easily, I will typically have to reapply fresh bleach after 30 minutes on the head. Doing this on darker hair will give you lots more contrast because of the darkness and depth of your natural color. If you're looking to do something very seamless, I recommend a mowhawk section instead of the fan placement.

      She didn't do anything in the back. If you want to learn how to do the back yourself, just search for exactly that! If you have 2 mirrors it's alot easier. You place 1 in front of you and the other behind and then you can see what you're doing back there! Doing a root smudge after lightening also helps to cover up, blend in any harsh lines you might have made when applying the lightener/bleach. If you can't access professional color like REDKEN Shades EQ, you can always find a demi-permanent hair color that matches your root color at the drugstore or on Amazon. You can also use permanent color but just don't leave it on for the full processing time. 10 minutes will do the trick. Also be sure to use a peroxide/processing solution that is no higher than 10 volume. Otherwise it lightens the hair. Hope that helps!

    Forever ago you thought me how to self cut my (super curly) hair, how to do a balayage and lighten it the correct way and also about ingredients. It always worked out so wonderfully! I took my time to heal my hair (I'm from that era of straighten your curls with a flatiron lol) and to go from almost black to super duper blond hair, bit by bit it was finally getting so long, healthy and strong after years. My hair was in the most beautiful state ever! I went to a hairdresser 1 time in between.. I even told them this story... yet they managed to mess it up sooooo bad, like reaheallly bad... they cut it all wonky and left me with one strand of hair and way darker hair, a coloring and cut my 5yo niece could've done with $1 paint and baby scissors 😭 Now you uploaded this technic and I will try this one as well. Moral of the story, I trust you more than ANY of my local hairdressers 💯🥰 Thank you so much Silvia for teaching me how to handle my hair with care💓

    They both look great and are obviously beautifully done, but I preferred the before color. It brought out the brows and eyes, had so many layers of warm color. The contrast gave more of a brightening effect than the sort of washed out overall blonde in the after, especially on someone with naturally darker coloring. Other than just a few highlights, overall blonde seems to best suit those who are naturally blonde. Thanks so much for the tutorial!

    I can’t tell you how many hairdressers I’ve been to. How much money that I have spent. I have left hairdressers with worse hair coloring and highlights than I walked into. I left a salon that literally burned fried my hair all because the hairdresser forgot to remove foils and wash out bleach! It was another HD working in salon that reminds her about my processing time! In short when she finally comes around to removing and washing. My hair was falling off and it was mushy and next day OMG it was ruined! I cried because I had a wedding to attend and I was a bridesmaid. When I finally found your channel. I watched over and over all of your videos. Learned what I needed. Even bought Esalons hair color for base. I haven’t tried it yet. I will be using it all this week. I’m scared that I’ll screw up the whole process. Probably because I have been jaded by sooooo many hairdressers in the past. I do have more faith in your ability to teach and tell people about the process. But you actually do it on yourself. This means a great deal more for people like myself who have been through hell with people who stated they are professionals. Thank you Sylvia for having the courage to do these videos. I’m sure it takes some bad feedback but also get great compliments thanks again.

      If it is too much lightness than what you wanted, then adding lowlights (reverse Balayage) can do wonders! Personally, I think if the lowlights are added back in the same way as balayage are added (not too thin like highlights!) it can look so so great! It can break up the lightness and add more of your natural and add depth! Good Luck!

    So you lifted your roots which is coloured hair? My sister is a hairdresser and my whole life she keeps saying you can’t lift coloured hair!

      you can't lift colored hair with more color, however, you can lift colored hair with lightener/bleach

      Are you talking about the very first,7n colour? That was to refresh and even out the base colour- not to lift.

      Level.6 is brown. Level 7-10 is blonde. Level 7 is a dark blonde.

      Also, 6.1 is an ash tone, and ash always looks darker.

    What a fantastic video. I’ve never done my own hair but I might give this a try. It has been awhile since I had highlights so I think I need to find a tutorial for full head balayage. I have cool skins undertones, blue eyes without a darker rim and my natural hair is close to the same color as yours so thinking more ashy highlights makes sense for me.

    Top of my head: I put in a light brown instead of dark brown and now I can’t get it darker! I then did the dark brown over it changed 1 level…. Also looks red

    I'm intrigued by the Shades EQ root smudge toners, being 6N and 5G. I get the 6N, but isn't 5G golden? If I put that on my hair, it'd go orange! lol

    • @Ellebangs
      @Ellebangs  2 года назад +6

      A 5G is quite dark and has very little warmth. But going over any highlights at the roots you want to avoid using something too aggressively ashy or your highlights will look green at the roots.

    This is reversed balayage that leaves buildup on roots in bands (which are very obvious on close up shots of her roots when she was doing the highlights). This video doesn’t show a real balayage technique 👎🏻

      She has no banding lol it's not a balayage but a foil but it's just a name.
