She is great , watching her for years . Finally became friends with my blonde hair . Colouring it myself, and managed to grow it beautifully . Thank you so much , greetings from Germany 😘
Incredibly helpful! Not only skilled and passionate, but an amazing teacher. I'm so grateful for this because it's like a real class, not just entertainment. Before this, I watched lots of other videos and was about to make almost all the mistakes she warned of.
I’ve learned SO much from her. From COVID on. In fact , my very first highlight job I did on myself- I didn’t tell my highly experienced amazing stylist that I did it- and I said can you fix what I had done- she said,” oh I actually think it looks pretty good!! Maybe just a few lowlights will even it out.” Then I told her 😂 she said ,” wow I think you’ve missed another career option here!!”
I love how you’ve redesigned your videos! A lot of other peoples tutorials just ramble on for 10 minutes and not one time have spoken about what the video is supposed to be showing! So thank you for getting right to the point. You also explain details very well and easy to understand! Pros and watching their videos makes it look so easy because they aren’t explaining the small details that are essential, so then when we try what we’ve watch (thinking it’s easy) that’s when it doesn’t turn out anything like we thought..so again thank you in the little details! Last but definitely not least…thank you for no music playing while you’re talking! I’ve followed you from the very beginning of your RUclips journey many many many years ago and you are a strength and inspiration to so many (including myself)! Not just because you’re a hairdresser, but because your honest, a wonderful mother and you have grown from your hardships and seem even more humble and empathetic! Thank you for the time you put into these videos regardless if you make money off of them…you make us feel like you truly want to help us and not just monopolize off of likes and views (make that money girl tho 😉) ❤
Sylvia , you are the OG of at home hair techniques :) I’ve been following you from the beginning and I have done my hair at home ever since ☺️ So thankful for you ❤
Found this amazing video, I’m trying this DIY on my own hair but don’t want too much of a highlights but just a peekaboo look. So the technique you stated on skipping one section to not highlight to created a shadow is what I’m looking for. Thanks 😊
I will be sharing the results for these techniques in the toning video- I will be showing how these processes developed before toning as well as the toning process.
Thank you so much for all that explanations.😊 There was defentively some stuff I did not know at all. Especially your last part.. But I hoped you would show us the utilization of that highlightning comb. Greetings from Germany (Bonn, here Beethoven was born 😁)
I have a cowlick in the front of my hair line. It’s always been difficult to highlight! You explained foil placement wonderfully!!! I will be trying it today (possibly). Thank you for all your hard work and time!
This is really great. The one question I always have is if your ends are already light, but NOT the light you are going for (for instance it’s a blond but you want a brighter or lighter blond) how do you handle it?
You might try using a lower developer on the ends - for example 10 vol. so two different volume developers within the foil to accommodate different processing speeds / strengths.
@@feliciaricci8839 to avoid a line between the two, when the foils come out, do you think blending that area by hand before heading to the sink would let the two different levels to melt a bit together and not be so noticeable?
@@DLJoLo you could! I typically just feather the lower developer up a little bit when applying so it blends within the foil and isn’t a strict line. You can also check the foil part way through developing to make sure there’s no noticeable line then smudge it up if necessary.
Loved this ty ! Did you leave any sections out when doing the hairline? It looks like you sectioned and bleached each section without leaving any out, but not sure if I missed something. Thanks! 🤗
@Ellebangs Thank you so much for your video Sometimes I get orange hue right at the top of my foil , it’s really frustrating The rest of the hair lifts lovely apart from that section What do you think I’m doing wrong ? Thanks x
level 6 hair, auburn, would you recommend schwarzkopf followed with toner or a hi lift color, to get that beautiful natural buttery sun kiss with low lights you have, ty so much!
Thank you for these excellent videos, Sylvia! What is the best way to highlight bangs that are cut to the eyebrow level? I want to keep the root on my bangs but highlight the rest. It always seems like a struggle to get it right and I don't know if I should do the bangs first or save them till last. My bangs always end up darker than the rest of my hair.
So interesting ❤ love the detailed reasoning and explanation. I find it hard to get my 20 something stylist to listen to your wisdom! May need to move on…. 😢
I've never seen this until now flipping the underside back out of the foil, does that help keep the lightener from spreading to the unlightened section? Please help thank you for your tips!!🌬️🔥👣💕🙏
Were you using techniques that all can be used in the same session or were you giving examples of a few techniques and you should stick to one for the entire head?
When I did this on my daughter I timed sections and washed off with a flannel every 20-30mins oof processing. I did that because I’ve fried my hair before doing foils and because I’m slow as any unprofessional would be I knew I should keep an eye on time. I didn’t use higher than 20vol

Whats the ratio you used for lightener and developer?

HI Sylvia! Your haircare product link in all your videos is broken! Just FYI. Also love your videos. You're my fave haircare content creator! 🌺

Did I miss the result?
I mess my hair 😢😢😢 I shut seee this before 😢
So don’t go over your existing highlights?
I think I could perform plastic surgery better than doing this on myself!
😂😂😂😂
How do you get your foils not to slide off? I always get this problem @ellebangs
