love your channel and have been watching since COVID started. Super helpful and short to the point whether color or hair cut (about to cut my curtain bang with after your bang video). Question: My natural hair color is level 5-6 and very fine and thin. I highlight it. I have about 2% gray in my roots. If I use root tap formula with 20 developer, what happens later when the hair grows and I need to highlight it? Or should I use 10 developer since my gray amount is not very noticable/a lot. Basically, I'd love to see a video on how to handle grey roots while still highlighting the rest of the hair without damaging with multiple processing.

How do you keep the root color from coloring the rest of your hair, somewhat, when you rinse out both the root color and the bleach? Secondly, can you do a small amount of low lights at the same time that you are doing your highlights? Thanks for any possible reply! Again, I look forward to watching your videos! 😘

    • @Mackenzie-Ann
      @Mackenzie-Ann 3 года назад +3

Hmm I’m surprised the color is taking to ends that fast! I’d maybe try to put your ends in a low pony tail and lean your head forward(you facing the sink/tub) and rinse those roots with water as best as you can! Then wash the rest of your hair with shampoo!

    • @AmberLovesMystery
      @AmberLovesMystery 3 года назад +3

I know this is an old video, but aim hoping you're still managing your comments. My question is, if I'm trying to grow out my hair while maintaining a balayage/babylights/heavy root look similar to your in this video, should I use the permanent color on my roots as suggested here? Or should I use a more semi-permanent dye, or just a gloss? I'm mostly worried about major brass when cutting through the dyed growth with a lightener.

So long as the toner is a higher level than that of your roots, it shouldn't affect them.
Ex: If you roots are a level 5 and the toner is meant for a level 10 (platinum blonde), the toner won't lift or change your roots. It is meant to cancel the tone of the colour you are applying it to. Like on the colour wheel; purple cancels yellow, which is why purple shampoo often works to tone blonde. But purple shampoo won't have much effect on red hair because they are not opposites (green would be needed to cancel the red).
Something to remember is that toner (proper toner) is not permanent colour and, therefore, will not lift or change a colour darker than its own level. 😊

I tried your 7n+7g+7m formula from your last video but using the ion colors, it turned out super brassy though. not sure what went wrong with 10 vol ;( not enough of the 7m I think?

I think M (stands for Machagony) might be the reason.
But it all depends on your starting colour (before aplication) as well as of your natural hair colour.
Next time avoid M, or C (copper).

What would you recommend if you're a level 4 or 5 brunette trying to attiain your beautiful highlights? I asked for beige highlites which i had previously but they needed a touch up. I ended up with zebra stripes along with various colour dark lowlights.
Which toner would you use - my hair always turns orange ugh!!! Just had a really bad hairdresser experience :(

They just don’t have a clue what they’re talking about that’s problem! missing my stylist! Although the grays come quickly! Ugg & covid does not help one bit! Grr not to mention the cost it’s nice not having $300 a month for something I could do myself in fact I don’t really enjoy going to the hair salon I prefer having it at my house!

    Hi Silvia
I wanted to know why you used a permanent versus a demi, we’re you going for lift? Do you have grays?
I am wanting to attend this to essentially do a shadow route as my level four roots are too much of a contrast with my level nine highlighted hair and it’s looking a bit stripy however I’m trying to decide if I should use Demi or permanent as my base looks similar to yours

If haircolor hurt 👶 babies, all 6 of mine would be messed up, lol. Seriously though, I was a maternity nurse for 15 years. Your doctors advice was correct.

Hi! thank you for this video!! quick question on your video you mention 6nn for the roots, however the description reads 6n .... the correct one is 6nn?

Hi, my entire head up to the root is currently about level 9 right now (shoulder length w/ an undercut) my natural color is 6n. I’m wanting to do a shadow root in a few weeks & was wondering what color you would suggest I use? I’m going for more of an ash brown into more of a deeper ash toner on my mid and ends but I don’t want my hair to turn green, so I’m not sure if I should go warm or not to avoid green from the bleach? But I’m still wanting to keep an ash look so needing tips! Lol thanks in advance ❤

Is it safe to bleach over hair that was already bleached ? How do you prevent from blowing the cuticle ? Do you use lower volume bleach on ends than root ?

So I currently use a Ion 5N from Sally’s on my roots for touch up. What’s the difference between using a 5N or a NN ?

Do you have any recommendations for a lightening product to use for hair that is dirty blonde naturally. (Level 7) I like a subtle lightening effect and am afraid that the one you use would make me level 10 or 11.

I do really like the way you are explaining everything and your hair color with root top color and balayage looks AMAIZNG AMAZING AMAZING ....
    💞💞💞💞💕💞💕💕
Usually I'm going to salon, but nobody is able to get into this amazing shades, not even salons who works with Redken Pro.
We in Germany -Berlin don't have Sally's Shop for hair products.
Is there any chance that you could do an video with in-box products ready to use from drugstore with brands like: Garnier, L'Oreal or Syoss ......
Just to start back home for 2 -3 centimeter roots ...
... for all those lady's who has similar natural root color like you : drak brown.
I've got almost the same natural root color like you. Have highlights and babylights but they are going more into warm golden/ honey, and they getting more dryer and dryer even I'm using Olaplex no.3, Olaplex Shampoo +Conditioner +Oil, + in salon Olaplex in Bleach for my highlights, + Redken Bond, Oribe Shampoo + Conditioner , ...
Kerastase Hair Oil, Redken Extream Shampoo + Conditioner+ Cat + Hair Mask + leave in Conditioner ....
And for grey hair -about 30% natural grey is on my hair.
So whatever you suggest , it will be great - only products who are not extreamely drying out hair
    Thank you 🥰🥰🥰

I’m sure you’ve answered this somewhere already but is the reason you always do a root touch up because you want to defuse the harsh line from grow out?Cause the colors you use for it is usually to match your natural hair color.

Yes this is why I used a permanent color at the roots. I have a few grays at part.

I have been doing my roots and highlights myself for 16 years and all my products I purchase from Sallys. I never tone my highlights, I just keep an eye on them until it is the color I like.
