I am so tired of dealing with rubbish hairdressers im learning to cut and colour my own hair. I just did a butterfly cut today and finally got the cut ive been askint every hairdresser for for years and they just wouldnt cut enough layers into my thick hair......well i do it myself and it looks awesome. Balayage next !!!
This is the best balayage tutorial I've seen Freehand balayage has always been something I've been uncomfortable doing. I loved how you showed the underside of your sections.
After thinking and thinking way too much I finally decided to take the risk and use this technique on my own hair for the first time at home. I NEVER ever have done balayage on my own so I was completely stressed and worried at the same time that I could damage my hair or have a completely fail result. I didn't need anyone else, just me and you helpful video. I watched very carefully every step you did and I must definetely say I LOVE how it looks!!! I cannot believe how awesome look this balayage technique on my hair!! Even my husband and friends told me that my hair look stunning and very natural. It was easier than I expected. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I will be using this techinque always! FYI: Even when I did this for the first time, it took around less than an hour to complete the whole process. I can't be more satisfied! ^_^
I’m in cosmo school still and haven’t been taught how to do balayage yet but tonight I did a pretty good job on my mannequin thanks to your video. Thank you!
I love the fact that u talk with us about the financial benefits of this technique plus the way u explain the technique it self was easy i want to see more of ur tutorials
I always end up doing my own balayage and I use this technique but dont use a brush (just gloves and my fingers) I like to push up my hair with my fingers in a swiping motion to really blend the bleach. After I let it sit for about 20 minutes, then rinse and only use shampoo to wash out any product. After, I like to put a medium ash brown to blend the highlights (loreal has some great choices) and that gives me the most natural looking balayage and blends it perfectly.
Thank you so much I did this today with clay lightener and 20 got 2 levels on a five to a seven and charged a decent price but included a Redken All soft Treatment afterwards. Did five sections instead of four . Turned out great and she loved it. And she loved the versatile money piece.
I went to cosmetology school but never graduated because of Covid, but I used your technique and it came out perfect! The back took some TIME but it was worth it.
Talent!! I've been doing hair for over 17 years, i still learn something every day, and doing this technique scares the shit out of me,i know i just need to practice and do it more often, because im really tired of backcombing the hair for my ombres or balayges and would love to get this technique down, awesome job, thank you for sharing your talent with us🤗😊😁👏👏👏👏
I did this the first time i tried balyage. i had 0 teqnuique, decided to eyeball it & just went for it - shocked it turned out super nice & not a blotchy mess. Ive not been able to recreate it since watching vids to learn how to... & now i realise my mistake 😂😂😂 super helpful vid!
Did you try it on yourself ? I’m wondering how hard it would be on yourself to hold each section flat down.. I have super long hair but I think I’m gonna try it!
@@es5327 Yes I also did it on myself and it worked quite well. It just takes a long time, so I rinsed out the bleach in sections. Otherwise it would have been on for too long. 😊

It's a mannequin, it's probably had its hair highlighted and colored before the video. I don't think he did that deliberately. He's also showing a technique and not what to use for the lightener.
Thank you for this great tutorial. I used this technique on a client with super thick hair. A bit nervy at the front applying so much bleach freehand to so much hair but remained confident in your teaching and it looked great. So pleased with the result. 👍🏼

Did you find it easy to paint the back pieces? I've REALLY been wanting to try this, but I'm afraid of trying to do the back. It's always hard when I try to foil the back.

I’ve done this on my daughter and it worked perfectly. I bought the Wella Freelights products and just went in and it was amazingly easy. I’ve never done hair in my life.
I love this video, no back combing or teasing or whatever it’s called now. I would never get the tangles out of my hair if I teased it. Actually I don’t even really understand the point of the back combing, doesn’t using smaller sections do the same thing?
No back combing blends from the root to where the bleach begins so u don’t get harsh lines of bleach. There is a proper way to back comb and be able to easily remove it when done. I do not recommend back combing if you aren’t a licensed cosmetologist. If u don’t know proper technique you will cause un needed damage.
Hi! Just thought I'd share my technique for the backside. Section out your hair. Then form each section into smaller ponytail sections using tiny rubber bands. Lightly backcomb under the rubber band. Then apply the balayage technique to each ponytail. When you're ready to wash it out, you can carefully break or cut the bands. The whole process is a pain in the butt but it's organized and I always get great results. Give it a try! Good luck!
