My husband and I did balayage twenty some years. Our other salon workers thought we were taking the easy way out. I think it grows out easier and think foiling can be boring. I love your red hair ..gorgeous.
All right, I am going to give up on any other educator out there, I seem to find that you are the easiest, most creative, balayage educator, out there, and that is so easy for my humble expertise. It looks stunning. Thank you.!!
Amazing transformation, her whole vibe was brighter & it brought out even more of her beauty. Been working on my speed & trying different techniques, so I’m def going to give this a try. As always thank you for sharing your knowledge 💜
Hi Elinor! Great question! Depending on the client's current hair condition, you may need to use a lower volume developer and process for less time. Keep a close eye on the hair as it processes, as it may not need the full processing time as a virgin application normally would. As always, starting with a test strand is recommended before performing a full application to ensure the right products are needed for your client's desired end result. We hope this helps!
Hi, Jill! Our Clay Lightener is made with a kaolin clay base, allowing for the outside to dry while the inside stays moisturized and continues to process. This is what makes it so that it does not bleed or transfer onto other hair. We hope this helps!
I love how this came out, so simple but so fresh! I'm also obsessing over that huge curling iron and would like to know what brand it is or where I can find one!!
I do my daughter’s hair at home, this tutorial really helps🙏 I am not a professional, just a mom trying to help her teen, she loves changing her hair up often. Can be extremely costly to go to salon for her very thick long hair. Been doing it for 6 years, I really love that hair board you have to paint on the bleach. Where can I buy one? Would save me the headache of foiling 🙏
omg I really luved it! this was so beautiful thank you Mirella! May I ask what is your thoughts about lifting the dark hair to chocolate with the same Balayage technique you used-- Do I need to use 10 velum or less and then tone, or uplifting dye with low velum? kindly.🌷
I'm a student and wondering if this could also be done without back combing/teasing the hair and just applying the lightener further down/leaving more depth on the root area of each section? Would a similar outcome be achieved? Thanks 🙂
Balayage can be done without backcombing! You will see a different result and will need to be more mindful of your application. We recommend trying it out on a doll head or a test strand.
Do you add toner wet or dry I was confused as I saw your picture with before toner and after toner it was dry , I saw it was wet when you added toner st washbowl Thx 🙏
A toner can be applied to either damp or dry hair. In most cases, after a lightening application, the toner is applied to damp hair. Be sure to towel the dry the hair to remove excess moisture in the hair before applying the toner.
Hello! Mirella used Kenra Color B Rapid Toner, which is a beige toner with violet undertones to neutralize warmth, ideally at levels 9 and 10. We hope this helps!
I like this technique as well, because I hate how long it takes to foil a clients head, unless it’s partial highlight. I’ve had other stylists opinions on this technique, some of them don’t care for it because it looks like it was done to quickly and not done. But agrees it looks great when styled. But I love it regardless 😊
Hi Shaelea! This can vary depending on your application timing and section sizes. Ideally, you will start the 45 minute processing when the final piece is complete. If your client has high density hair, you may need to process at different rates and rinse in between sections. You may also need to adjust the volume of developer for each section depending on your clients desired level of lightness. We hope this helps!
I thought for sure you would have hot roots on virgin hair when you went all the way up to the scalp on the face and money piece, I’ve never tried clay!! They didn’t teach it in 1991 lol! I would really love to try this technique, thank you! So does clay lightener not produce hot roots?😊
Beautiful blonde... But..being red-haired, I'm absolutely loving the red hair (colour and style) on the creator... gorgeous 🩷🩷🩷.. If someone sees this please advise the colour names or numbers.. Not a hairdresser just a fan.. 🙏🎄❤️
I could be wrong but I feel like it kinda depends on where you are located. I live in a very dry climate, (Colorado), so even when I use a clay lightener, saturate and reapply a bunch; open air just dries so quickly! I end up having to use foils, but it's okay. Still love this process and this technique! Thank you for sharing!
All that and no shadow root. Gorgeous! Shows perfectly how you can use balayage to sculpt and highlight someones features 🙂
Thank you so much, Dante!

If you were to put foil on it, how would you fold /secure the foil?

Someone may have asked already, but what brand is that curling iron?
So when you do this, do you only do the top side of the hair and not the back side when painting it on - is that the goal?
Hi Sundoesshine! Yes, when working with Clay Lightener, typically you only want to paint the top surface, not both sides of the hair section.
@@KenraProfessional Thank you for the reply. Interesting.

So when you say you let her process for 45min. Did you start the 45min from the time you started the bleach, or 45min after applying all the bleach?
