Copyright attaches to a work the moment it’s published. You don’t need a registration unless you want to sue. I specialize in copyright law. She is also misusing copyright by abusing the DMCA on creators posting clips for the purposes of commentary. That falls under fair use. Growing up, its like he knew talking about me se*ually got lots of attention, then as teens all these gross weird rumors went around, and you can imagine once alcohol got flowing, everyone had fun trading stories about how weird and wild I was- denying things was pointless( Like "Oh? You DON'T play "flasher" by wearing a trenchcoat and surprising *flashing* your brother? Right- No brother would make up such sick stuff, you lying weirdo!")God, I wish that was true.... And what sucks is that once everyone believes him and imagines and laughs about me that way , it feels like they all some collective Memory of seeing me that way, like it happened in a way and its so violating like I haven't even DONE anything and can't cover up these images everyone's playing in their heads, GOD! I know enough about psychology to understand its just like a powerful way for them to bond through comradery and inside jokes about a common "enemy" and its not personal because it isn't about ME its about some story he's using for attention, but it still turns my stomach and I hate him and them for believing and rewarding him and punishing me. Its torture like how can I ever just be normal, and be okay? I just cant imagine, everything about everything I wear and say and do is just Tainted and wrong and weird and trying to prove you're normal proves youre not, its so exhausting and unfair and embarrassing and evil.
And for anyone who thinks its only "real" abuse if someone is actually graped, this is messing me up REALLY bad and I almost wish I had bruises from being hit , at least I'd have some evidence and some sympathy, not that I want pity, just compassion and acknowledgment at this injustice.

FYI body checking specifically is something done within the eating disorder community (yes there's communities unfortunately). You show off your body but in specific ways to highlight your thinness. Adjusting yourself so your collar bones are more prominent, standing so that you show an extreme thigh gap, holding your arms more straight in order to make your arms look even thinner, showing off large bracelets to emphasise your tiny wrists, the list goes on. What's really terrible about body checking is that you never say those words, you just do those actions whenever you are taking a photo of yourself or make a video. The person wants to highlight to the world how thin they are, probably to validate their eating disorder (that's how it was from me) and in my case instill envy. Videos and photos taken of obvious body checking are spread through the ED community as something to strive for, and thus the cycle continues.
Tldr; body checking is an action people in the ED community do to show off their thin bodies.

i think the reason james charles didn’t get canceled is bc he was 19/20 the first time it happened and the age difference was only a few years, the big thing there was the power imbalance - Colleen on the other had was in her 30’s romantically in a relationship already and speaking to kids almost half her age. i think james was at a weird spot like a lot of first year college students are at when they still talk to those friends back in hs until they age out really quickly, there’s no excuse for colleen, there’s no reason a 30 year old and hs/middle schoolers should be talking. there’s no common ground and it’s just plain creepy

At the end of the day, as many people have said, Colleen's intentions don't matter because the results of her actions are very serious.
Her lack of remorse and disrespecting her victims in her response just reinforces to me that her intentions aren't important and makes me question them more.
What were her intentions when she started chatting with fans who were drastically younger than her? She needed friends? She had adult "friends" or at least other adults in her life at this time. After all, she was sending their nudes to the kiddos.
I genuinely find it hard to believe she didn't realize that encouraging these kids obsession was benefiting her. They were creating fan pages and going on chats to talk about her 7 days a week. So many fans describe how they saw how close other fans got to her and wanted that. I don't see how she didn't see all this.
And the side of my brain that gives the benefit of the doubt says, well maybe she saw benefits on both sides. She gains fame and her choice few get free tickets and "opportunities" she offered them.
But then I look at how the things she was offering them were unrealistic. She offered to spend like hours with Adam *the day of her show*
You're telling me this grown woman who's been in the business over a decade by then, really thought she was going to have half her day available on the day of her show to spend with someone half her age? She didn't even have time to invite her under paid assistant to lunch with them.
On that note she gives these fans "opportunities" to work for her but can't afford to pay them fairly or get them an occasional hotel room to shower in?
Girl really? And you wanna tell me about your intentions again?
At this point the best I can give is some extreme willful ignorance going on.
What kind of intentions do you have when you've thought of, sketched out, and went through performing, a skit where a 9 year old boy pretend to be your bae and sticks his hand down your pants. As a 30 something year old myself the thought of having a 9 year old stick their hands down my pants for any reason *literally* turns my stomach.
Like I've never understood the "it's just a joke" mentality. I can understand the concept of not realizing what you're joking about offends someone. I can even understand thinking they're overreacting. What I don't get is what to me feels like arguing that it should be okay to offend people for humor and it's not okay for those people to be offended. My first thought is that if it's fair for you to say what you want if you're just joking, shouldn't it be fair for others to react by being offended if they want? I just think it's not only kinder, but frankly easier, to just apologize and move on.
These are jokes that a lot of people find really inappropriate not just towards minors but incorporating them.
These are jokes that are pointed at your "friend's" body and extremely cruel.
Not only do your intentions not matter because the actions were barbaric and the results were traumatic for a lot of people; if you're truly claiming a lack of bad intentions, I'd like to know what your intentions were or what thought processes you had that caused you to have such a huge lack of intention and awareness at all.
