Oh my word how helpful! I got a new 8 qt on Black Friday and was trying to find an instapot recipe and ALL the videos used the manual button and my pot doesn’t have it. I was so confused and frustrated til finding this video. Thx so much.

Thanks for this video! I just got the Duo 6qt v3 and i freaked when I didn't see a "Manual" button! All the videos for recipes I saw used that button and thanks to you, I know what to do! :)

I just noticed the difference a few days ago after seeing RUclips videos of IP’s that I thought were the same as mine. I got mine as a Christmas gift and I came from Amazon. It’s the newer version but I had no clue. So...thanks for being here for us with all of your wisdom and knowledge!

Those finding this change confusing might want to create an index card with the "this means that" changes on it. Or you could apply temporary, stick-on labels next to the buttons that changed until you get this down.

Thank you!!! It took forever to find the answer! I have the newest version of the 8 qt. I had no idea they'd be different, and my hubby bought this for me for Christmas, so I think he did well! Go hubby! ;-) Thank you, thank you, thank you! All of the videos I've watched say, "Just hit 'manual'..." I didn't have that. LOL

    AWESOME!!!
We have both and I can not tell you the mind games it has played on me since I got the new one .. wich I totally thought was the older version because it actually had the ‘Duo80’ on the facepanel as appose to the new version that only has ‘Duo’ .. Loved this video 😁👍🏻 Thxs for the research.

V2 pot liner also doesn't have measurements inside, only the two Max lines. I don't mind, especially considering anything that needs to be measured I'd use a measuring cup for anyway. It's just a notable variation. Love your channel and your adorable family!

thanks, that was nice to you to explain why some are different. I have a 6qt and I love it. My next dish is going to be stuffed Manicotti with hamburger that you'd use for filled peppers cooked for 20 minutes on manual in tomato sauce, except I'm going to use V-8 juice as I have a qt of it and I like it in the little cans better LOL. They say a can of V-8 gives you veg. requirement for the day. l like it with a lot of back pepper, it's an acquired taste. Hug Ren for me, she's so cute. I hope you are feeling good and thanks again for the video...

THANK YOU!!!I just got one for Christmas and I couldn't understand why my friends were saying just use the 'manual' button. I am so glad that I found your video. Now I know that I have a version 2. You're the first one that I found that truly explains it. Now I just have to practice using the pressure cook option, I almost burned pasta because I didn't understand the difference :). I've made pulled pork using the meat button.

Thanks my friend :-)!! I thought my new version was an old version, but I watched your video and my version in actually the new one... the good thing about the version 1's (older versions) is the recipes are all seemingly written for them.

Than you so much for this clarification with the time display. I have version 2 and I was very confused when watching recipe video that obviously had different model and 6 minutes seem set at 60 because of the location of that 6 on different models.

Hi, I just got what I think was a great deal on the 8 quart V2 with the pressure cook vs. manual button. Amazon's Black Friday deal was $69.95.
So I had to practice my first recipe on my poor family. I say poor because it was terrible. It was a Pinterest pork chop instant pot recipe which called for sautéing the chops then 10 minutes and of course press manual. I almost had a heartattac. I quickly called the company and she said to press Pressure cook. Ok, and here's the BUT, they were dry. I saw the timer after it ended, counting how long the cool down was and after 10 minutes I decided to quick vent. I wasn't sure how much to allow it to keep cooling? Then 3 minutes under the broiler. I'm not sure where I messed up. They were a bone in recipe and about 1/2 inch thick.
Now as a side note I first did the water test and when I pressed steam the KEEP WARM button lit up. It wasn't building pressure. That was really my first phone call to them. I wasn't sure if the man understood me, abut he said I should have left it and it would've started. So I hit cancel
And then pressure cook and it began o build pressure.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME MAKE SENSE OF THIS? Thank you.

*I love the instant pot so much! I have made quinoa, chicken, chili, asparagus **MyBest.Kitchen** and yogurt in it so far. The only thing that didn't work great was the asparagus. I cooked it for 1 minute and it was still overdone. It is a timesaver and uses much less energy than my gas stove.*

Here are my instructions on how to cook pasta in the Instant pot: ruclips.net/video/XigkzoDL6ic/видео.html
The Less, Normal and More settings refer to the amount of time cooked, not the level of heat. I don't pay any attention that and just adjust the to the number of minutes I want using the plus and minus buttons. For pasta I do 1lb of uncooked pasta, 3 cups of water about 32oz of sauce + meat. Cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes. Just press the "Pressure Cook" button and use the plus or minus buttons to get to 5 minutes. As soon as cooking time is finished do a quick pressure release. You can see me demonstrate all of this in the video I linked to above.
      Hope that helps!

How do I adjust the heat on the saute function on the 8qt-v2? It is always smoking hot! Also, I get the burn message most of the time now no matter what I do. My rice is consistently burning with 1/1 so last time I tried a 1/1.5 and still got it. The rice is done but the bottom is starting to burn by the time the pressure is getting ready to start. The red thing pops up and then 1-2 mins later it gives the burn message.

No one seems to have the courage nor intelligence (until here and now) to give a full explanation of the different models be it the older Duo or newer Duo models which have many different buttons. Most of the videos made up to now present the older model and their use for cooking but no one I`ve seen has presented cooking reciepies using the newer model of the Duo and it`s different button display so it get`s rather confusing as it has no "manual" button for example as does the older model. If your all wanting to be "informative" then you should make an "update" version of your presentations to include the newer models as and when they become available. It`s a more professional form of pedagogie if they expect us to use these cooking utensils efficiently and without confusion. Including the Instant Pot model in the title of the video would help a great dealless confusing and time saving. Now where is that "Manual" button she`s talking about, mine doesn`t have a "Manual " button.

The problem is that Instant Pot seems to be releasing a new model every other week! For us home cooks making these videos it's impossible to always purchase the newest model to show.
Any time someone says to use the "Manual" button choose "Pressure Cook" instead.

@@IndigoNili Sure, I expect there will be some head scratching as newer models come to light. However as much as we all appreciate your RUclips vids perhaps it may be possible to mention a link at the foot of the “recipe” videos pointing to your (this particular) video and update this video each time a newer model is available. You could put a list of reference points at the foot of the video mentioning where on the time line to find your particular model and its differences, be it buttons or functions. It would then be possible to add newer models by editing this same video and putting the newer models (mentioning their differences) at the end of the video, and adding it to the list of time line positions on the video. I know it sounds complicated at first view but I`m almost certain you will get many “hits” if you put something of this nature together judging by the number of "Thank You`s" mentioned here below. If you contacted “Instant Pot” I`m sure they would sponsor you to get such a video onto RUclips. It would certainly boost their sales and bring all Instant Pot users in time to the same point, namely your “Instant Pot Model Guide Lines”. I would certainly subscribe to such a video. Instant Pot might even mention your video in their "latest model" documentation. There are some excelant Instant Pot recipies out there only spoilt by users tempting to interpret them using the lastest model Instant Pot which have different buttons than those in these older models and their vids. After listening to your explication from time line 0.25 to 1.39 you can do it, you`ve realy got your head together. Bravo.
