I have the 6 qt even though I cook just for me. Is it worth getting the 3 qt for making rice (along with small batches of food) or should I get a small rice cooker? Im concerned about space.
The reason I am looking into one i for use in an RV camping situation. I can g to their web site to find out amp and watts use ... which is important... thank you for your time
I got the 8 quart version because I intended to use it for gallon batches of yogurt. It is large, but it will be much more convenient than doing smaller batches.
( *How* much different?) It's bigger, naturally. Two quarts, to be precise. I have the 8 qt. Duo Nova. I like mine just fine, but I am cooking for just my dad and myself (and an occasional guest or two). The 8 qt. pots are big enough to cook a whole chicken, I'm not sure the 6 qt. versions can do that. I have considered investing in another I.P.... if I did it would likely be a 6 qt. (or another 8 qt.) rather than the 10 qt. model.
Hi Lisa, I am LDS from Toronto, On, Canada.. I found myself needing cornea transplants in 2015 and unable to cook. I had used a stovetop pressure cooker, Lagostina, for many, many years but I needed to change so I bought the electrical kind that is so much easier to cook with. It turns out my husband had to take over the cooking. He loves the 6 quart duo instant Pot. I am glad for the purchase because he cooks vegetables. It’s really hard when you can’t see to cook. I received my transplants after about 1 year. I am ok now but 2 years ago I broke my left hip. My husband really had to learn to do everything. He is my assistant. He is 80. All our married life we have stuck to the traditional way so it was not easy to change things. On top of it all I was born in France so I am a fairly good cook and demanding of good tasting food. Thanks for helping people!
It depends on how much meal prepping you are doing. If you are doing prepping, I would generally recommend starting with a 6 quart and then getting a second one. triedtestedandtrue.com/which-instant-pot-to-buy/
@@Lisa.Childs I've been searching your videos about the instant pot air fryer because the only available size in my country is 8qt. We're just a small family and I'm skeptical about buying one. I'm only in it for the fryer. Glad I found this link to your blog (I missed it on the description) and it cleared up a lot of my questions. Looking forward to buy the 6qt tomorrow. Thanks for the great info!
Thank u so much now I am able to decide which instant pot n what size is better...my family is big 8 members...so I think I hav to go for 8Quart size....n also pls let me know instant duo is best or instant duo Nova??many 😊 thanks
I have an 8 quart instant pot. Give me a good reason why I should buy a 6 quart one. I’m trying to talk myself out of it. I live alone so I only cook for myself.
I actually went with an 8 qt simply for a few reasons. I like have a little extra breathing room in case I decide to make a little extra. I also tend to make meals that I can have for a few days. Money being tight and my desire to not have to cook for myself every day since I work overnights, I like to have lots of leftovers. I also tend to share with coworkers and family.
I recently bought the 3 quart because I just cook for myself and have limited counter space. It works great for me for porridge, soups, grains, beans and yogurt. If you like cooking large batches of foods to freeze you would need a bigger pot. I haven't tried it, but it looks like making instant pot cheese cake needs to be made in a 6 quart.
I wish I would have watched this first. I just got mine from Amazon and I swore it was a return. Now that I see all the stuff I'm missing, I know it was a return. Amazon sends customers items that have been returned all the time without checking why. Dammit!!!
I have the 3 quart instant pot and I love it. I think it’s perfect for a single person, college student or a couple. I considered getting a 6 qt, but that was just my inner shopaholic talking, lol.
I’m wondering if each size takes different times for coming to pressure or cooking. I have the 3 quart and that’s about 10min to come to pressure when I cook rice. Would the 8 quart taker longer to come to pressure or have different cooking time?
@@laurabenevelli6783 It is just me so I am getting the 3 qt. I don't think I will be rushing out anytime soon to get other attachments. But thanks for your imput.
Today i just bought 3qt mini latest version which have start button function...i Chose mini bcoz i just for myself... some more im staying in hotel room past few months so buying bigger one is not suitable and it cost alot since i cook for 1 pax..I will get my pot by nex week Thursday and cant wait to try lite cookings
Whatever you do DO NOT buy the 3 quart. I get when your a single person but still you never know if you need more. My story: I have myself and 1 child (15 yrs old) I got the 3 quart and now trying to sell it to buy a 6 qt because we like pork roast,BBQ ribs, and meatloaf in instant pot. Problem: yeah sure i can make a small amount but then there isn't any leftovers. My problem: I work 2 jobs and am not going to cook everyday. so my kid will usually have leftovers the next day. but some items we make we barely have enough for one meal for the both of us. For example: when i make pork roast we add vegetables to it and can barely put a few potatoes and such in it. When I make BBQ ribs with the bones you can't put much in a 3 qt. So even if you're a single person, unless you know for fact you will stay single, and never have guests, DO NOT get the 3 qt. Any single person wanna buy a 3 qt. I got one for sale only 4 months old.
Can I plug in the instant pot and a multi cooker to the same power socket with a multi socket plug? Or does the instant pot require the whole power outlet to itself?

Which is the easiest one?
does anyone know the weight of the instant pots? amazon has the weight listed wrong
You're an instant pot hoarder😱😆👌🤣🤣🤣

Hi, just wondering if you could tell me how many cups of grain, beans, rice etc you can cook in the 3L at one time please ?
Anyone knows the circumference of the 3qt one?
Thank you so much! I learned what was what.

My 6qt duo does not have an option for venting or sealing. I assume it automatically seals and then I move the black (comma shaped) lever to vent?
We are 2 adults and 2 kids and I need extra 2 servings as leftovers to take at work. Is the 6qt enough for this or should I go for the 8qt?

Am I obsessive? I have a three quart, two six quarts: and I think what they call the eight to 10 quart. Now I'm looking at the fryer lid
Thank you for the lid in the handle hack! Who knew?

Hmm. I didn’t get the ladle, rice paddle, or cup! Mine came from Amazon, the 6qt size.
Same here for me.
mine did not come with cup or paddles

Did you end up buying the 6qt?
Same here. Just ordered the 6.
It might be time to update this video.
I got the 8 quart version because I intended to use it for gallon batches of yogurt. It is large, but it will be much more convenient than doing smaller batches.
Once I figured out the trick of matching the bump out on the lid with the bump out on the pot I had no problem with putting the lid on.

I bought the Darth Vader 6 Q and only for a trivet in it. 😢
No one is making yogurt.
I actually noticed that the DUO series models of the instant pots have better reviews then the Newer models
Does it not dribble steam down the side when you set it in the handle holder for the lid?

In the 3 quart instant post I can make brown rice?
Your the only cooking channel I watch, I want to know the 8 Instant Pot is that size the 8 Litre one ?
6q holds how many quart jars for canning?

Pretty much you covered in terms of difference is the size..but what about the functions..
What can one do the others cant? If any
Does the company make replacement gaskets for the lid? If not it won't work if that gasket wears out.
Would I still need the middle sized cooking for 1-2 people? Mostly just for one...

does it cook chicken?

I am looking at a 3 qt since I am single too. If any bigger lots of leftovers, which I don't mind too much. Just that a 3 qt is better for one person.
The only disadvantage to a 3 quart is any attachments only fit on the larger sizes. They don't make them for the 3 qt.

The 6 quart is not that big. It really only holds 4 quarts. You can always cook pot in pot, if you feel the amount you are cooking is too small.
