Hi Lisa, thank you for this video. I've had my pressure cooker (not specifically Instant Pot) for a year & I've used it maybe two times. After watching your video, today (01-17-2020) I called the manufacturer to get replacement seals for the lid. They said my model pressure cooker is being discontinued. I bought two replacement seals. I'm so glad you included that tip. I forgot to order a liner. I'll do that now. Thank you for all of your tips.

I think you are a fantastic speaker, you talk clearly and you explain everything in such detail. I love how truthful you are and you tell it like it is. I certainly agree with you that newbies should hold off and see how much they use the pot and what they really cook frequently before purchasing a lot of items. I just started learning how to cook a few months ago after getting married and moving away from my parents. I put an IP on our registry as I had seen them in a few homes I tutored at. I had no idea how amazingly useful it would be as I slowly learned how to cook the basics like raw chicken and hamburger helper. Now I’m making a new recipe almost every other week and love having friends over for dinner. The only accessory I got was a glass lid because I enjoy seeing my “creations” when slow cooking. A few of these look really useful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and explaining everything!! I love that you are frugal and wanting to get the best “bang for your buck”. I spend time researching almost every purchase first too. Also, your voice is so cute and sweet and I would so love to learn more cooking from you. God bless!

Where have you been? I searched for help when I first got my Instant Pot. Your channel never came up, but you are THE BEST! I am so glad that I found you.
This is the BEST review of IP accessories that I’ve come across! I also do loads of research before buying, and want the best bang for my buck. Who wants a “thing” that can only do ONE thing?! Not me! I also appreciate you mentioning the kits, because I’d been looking into them but didn’t want to buy something I wouldn’t use.
Thank you soo much for being honest about the need for accessories! The advice you gave is AWESOME, very practical and honest. I love that you stated you aren't being paid for your advice or receiving free items. It is so hard to determine if someone who is getting free items or being paid for their feedback is truly giving their honest opinion. I truly appreciate your step by step instructions and explanations in all your videos as well. I just received my Instant Pot for Christmas and am excited to use it. After watching your beginner, cleaning, 26 tips and tricks, and accessory videos, I feel like I am in a good position to get started!
Good sound advice . . . My husband wanted the instant pot a few years back . . . I am the primary cook and did not want another small kitchen appliance that I thought wouldn’t be used after the initial “wow, I’ve got an Instant Pot” wore off. Two years later it had only been used for seasonal soups and an occasional roast, which I was happy with. Life change required traveling away from home 3 to 6 months at a time in our “New Used” RV essentially home away from home. The Instant Pot was recommended by other RVer’s, allows outside cooking, eliminates heating up the inside of your RV in the warmer months and inside cooking smells that linger longer than desired. Since we owned one we brought it along and boy oh boy did it do the job . . . Looking forward to a couple of new accessories since only using the basic tools included in box plus now I know exactly what is needed according to our meal Preferences. I will be reading more on your blog and viewing more of your videos. Thank you for sharing your honest experiences, and recommendations. All the best my friend!
Hi Lisa. Another accessory that I now use is the round silicone mat. As per photo. I was tired of risotto or beef casserole catching on the bottom of the pot. I'm loving it. Of course...one needs to be aware of its presence when stirring. No more burnt offerings. I'm in Australia. My pot is a Phillips.
This was so helpful!!! It's Cyber Monday, and I had your video running while having my Amazon tab open! Your advice above, helped guide me on which accessories to purchase for my Instant Pot. Thanks so much for all of your help with my Instant Pot cooking adventure! 🙂
I'm a truck driver and just bought an instant pot for the truck. Going to follow your advice and use it for a bit before buying anything else. Truckers could use a video on recipes with few ingredients and easy clean up. Thank you and yes I've been stuck in the IP rabbit hole for two days now!!
I appreciate that you remind us not to go out and buy "all the things" before we actually learn how to use our IP. Plus knowing you're frugal and then seeing you recommend certain things gives me confidence that you're not just pushing a product for commission or you're just someone who has money to burn. Liked and subbed 👍🏼
Got my wife a steam release diverter for stocking stuffer. Workers great. It’s a silicone piece shaped like a 90 degree pipe. Put over the steam relaxes on the instant pot and it directs the steam out in a horizontal direction instead of straight up.
Thank you so much for logical and frugal presentation. I don’t like having a lot of kitchen tools that do only one thing. I prefer them to have multi uses. You and I are going to get along great. Looking forward to more of your videos.
I soooo appreciate your honesty and how frugal you are!!! It is so refreshing. This is only my second You Tube subscription and I just had to support you. I was just given my first Instant Pot (hand me down) so I am in the learning mode. I made 3 dinners last lickety-split. Can't wait to use your recipes. I watched your other video for beginners too and every tip was new to me. haha. Thanks and you'll be seeing more of me.
Your videos are the most helpful ones I have seen. I love all of the tips in this one (I almost bought a 'kit' yesterday and I'm so glad that I didn't. The only suggestion that I have for your video is to set each item aside after you demonstrate it. All of them together kept me from being able to concentrate on each one. Thanks so much for your comments. Oh! I also like the videos without the music.
Lisa, I just heard about the instant pot two days ago. (OK so I do not have a TV) Anyhow so I have been listening to numerous videos and let me just say I just subscribed to YOU! I like what you have to say and how you present your videos. I plan on watching more of you. I have cooked with pressure cookers for years so I may be ahead of the beginner but your knowledge is so helpful especially with gadgets for that is ALL new to me for pressure cooking. Although like the glass lid I do think I have things on hand that'll work just find. I am also a penny pincher. I am getting an instant pot soon as I get to town. My #1 reason for wanting an instant pot over my wonderful Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers (3) is it does not look like I have to stand there to keep a constant eye on the pressure. Please let me know if I am wrong about that!!! Thank you for your informative videos.
Thank you. My best friend got me an early Christmas present of a 6qt IP. I have pressure canned food all my life but now, I need to learn again... (smile) I have used it every day since it got here.
Great tip... how often do you do this? I was curious if I should be using a separate ring for meat, poultry, desserts, etc... but, I like your idea 💡 Thanks 😊
Thank you for your approach to your videos and recommendations. You make the information accessible and practical. I know that is harder than it looks - and I appreciate the effort you put into this. Well done. I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you. Keep going - you're great.
Thanks for the video. I was going to buy an 'accessory kit' and the magnet timetables, and now realize I need to learn how to COOK w/the IP, first! THEN I can decide what "I" need. Much appreciated!
Thank you, for keeping it real. I have a insta pot that I have used a total of 5 times now and I am looking to cook more in it but had no clue what to buy or use to advance forward. the silicone stainer and extra pot is a huge help. Thank you so much.
I haven't bought any accessories yet, but know I would use the steamer basket. My husband wants to do a boil and it would be so much easier with the basket. What I really enjoyed was your reason why that particular one. I am glad I saw this before ordering just any basket.
Thank you, I got my instant pot yesterday and nearly bought one of those kits, now I'm going to try using it plain and then pick things up as I want them.
Guess where I have found several accessories that work just fine? The thrift store. I bought a little cheesecake pan, which fits my 6 quart instant pot perfectly. Was it designed for instant pot? No! But... I think I paid three dollars for it!
Great to hear that word 'frugal', Lisa. Being similarly minded, I choose NPR (no pressure release) timings for hard boiled eggs, economising on cooking time and maximising use of input energy. If using dried chickpeas, I soak them overnight, rinse, then cook in fresh water for just _5 minutes plus full NPR,_ to save power and get better texture and taste than with non-soak, longer-cook IP methods. Add salt plus good olive oil or melted butter... _so_ much better than canned!
Thanks for sharing this! I am new to Instant Pot just got my first for Christmas. I eat a lot of dried beans because I find my blood pressure is 10 - 15 mb lower if I do so I am looking forward to trying your method
@@byteangelxi9178 Let us know how you got on! I made a New Year resolution to shed 35lbs. Well, 7 gone, 28 to go! Lentils and beans, usually with greens, are tasty and satisfying and help me cope with my carbs addiction! Pre-soaking beans and lentils will reduce phytates, which block mineral absorption, and help reduce the ingredient responsible for intestinal bloating.
I bought my IP for Christmas so just getting to grips with it. I agree with you that you can get carried away with buying accessories you don’t need or will never use, and if you buy cheap you buy twice. Thanks for all the videos as I find them very helpful. Love from the U.K.
I'm so glad I saw this post before I opened the accessory kit I ordered on amazon. Thank you. You were right about some of the items not being useful. I bought the basket and the cupcake liners you recommended. I love them and use them more than I thought. Great Video.
Thank you for your video. I have 2 insta pots. One ultra and the other duo evo plus for sous vid ing. Both 8 quarts . I just love cooking in them. Makes sense. Takes a bit to get change in your cooking habits with stews and 🌶. It’s amassing. Thank you again. I have done my right choices in accessories. Common sense. Have a great Holliday in these times. Hats off to you! T. Bell. Ontario, Canada. 👍👍👍
I am a new Instant Pot user and was tempted to buy the special egg cooking silicon accessory, but so glad I watched your video and you suggested the silicone cups for greater versatility - genius! Thank you - I'm a frugal shopper and glad to have more bang for the buck!
Thanks! You just saved me $25. I had a lid in my Amazon cart. Checked my cabinet and there's one there that fits! Decided to skip the silicon lid for now too, since I can use plastic wrap. But I think I'll get the steamer because my wife steams veggies all the time.
I enjoyed your video. My experience had been somewhat different, so, per your invitation, I'll share. When I first got my IP, I bought the extra pot, glass lid, and an accessory kit. I have never used the glass lid, use the second pot frequently (and learned quickly not to nest them for storage), and found the accessory kit to be very good quality and very useful. The pot lifter is great, and I've never had to use a sling. I bought extra rings, but always wash the original ring and lid in the dishwasher and have never had any smells. Another item I bought and have stopped using is a steam director. I wanted to aim my steam at my stove's vent hood, but I don't find it makes much difference. I bought a pot in pot set and liked that it had a lid so I didn't have to wrap it in foil to prevent condensation. I really like the egg bite thing better than trying to balance separate cups, and I can only get two ramekins to fit in my IP, so they aren't very handy for me. I still find a lot of people intimidated by their Instant Pots, so thanks for making it more approachable.
I'm terrified by mine but am working hard at learning to use it while we are at home. I'm a long haul trucker and I am going to use mine for cooking healthier meals on the road. I was going to use the silicone muffin cups for my egg bites but now I will get the egg bite mold instead. I've seen quite a few posts saying that they aren't stable enough. Have you tried using coffee mugs for making your egg bites in?
@@byteangelxi9178 I never even considered coffee mugs. The egg bites are kind of small and silicone is easier to wash. Hmmm... for other things though... Thanks for the idea.
Thanks a lot... I am a newbie and a minimalist so your advice is spot on! I will buy any accessories as my repetoire grows and Iidentify what my REAL needs will be. Then I'll check out your videos😁
Hi, I'm watching because I'm interested in possibly buying an instant pot. I'm so glad I logged on and found your video demonstration on the pot. Thanks for all the info, it has helped me a lot. I will continue to watch the rest of your videos.
Very helpful information, thanks! I think you make a great point about not going out and buying a bunch of accessories until you are comfortable using your instant pot and you know that you're going to be using it regularly.
ohh I like it a lot ) THANKS so much, I bought an 8qt but planning on getting a 14qt and your tips will make my cooking experience so much "enjoyable" !! OMG and you even have the list so I don't have to search around !! thanks again !!
Friday night party here y'all, watching Ninja Foodi/Instant Pot videos. Glad I stumbled across this one...thanks so much for all the recommendations, and your honesty! I got a Foodi a few months back and have been cooking everything I can think of in it... talk about a life-changing appliance!
Lisa, we use wooden spoons with a squared-off or blunt end to scrape the fond off the IP inner liner. We feel, there's less chance of scraping or marring the liner (leaving scratch marks). Also, we discovered using Bar Keepers Friend to clean the dull, heat caused bottom of the inner pot; just make a paste and clean and rinse and the liner is perfect, again. Thanks so much for the tips! Y'all Be Safe!!
On my wish list was IP accessories and I've been eyeing those kits. Very glad I listened to this video.. Taking your advice and not wasting my money on them . Now to consider the 11 items you recommend! Thanks for the info!
Hi Lisa, I just got an instant pot for my birthday yesterday. I am already hooked on your videos. They are very informative and well done. I'm excited to use my instant pot. I hope I don't screw up my first try at using it. Thank you
I'm a long time pressure cooker and slow cooker owner and user but life changes have dictated that I downsize so I'm donating both to my local volunteer organization and I'm getting an instant pot tomorrow. I appreciate the sound advice so I subscribed to your channel. I look forward to catching up on your recipes. Thank you.
Thank you, Lisa, for your videos, you are a pleasure to watch. You are polite, and in these days of rude and "cool" people, you are refreshing! Great advise! I'll be following and recommending you.
Great video, love the out -takes. I agree with all your recommendations. I'm an instant pot user for 3+ years, and a pressure cooker user for over 50 years. Keep up the blog and videos. I enjoyed watching and learned some new things as well. Thanks.
The only accessory I've bought is the steamer basket, I think it is very nice to have. Love the channel so far, one small suggestion.. maybe do the blooper reel at the end instead of the beginning.. just so it gets straight to the content. I subscribed! Keep up the awesome work.
I totally agree that this video is awesome work. I've never seen bloopers at the beginning of a video or movie, but that format makes you look human, approachable and just like an every-day person. It made me really want to see what you had to say next. Good for you.
So glad I watched this before buying the egg bite thingie. I love the idea of the silicone cups which can be used for multiple purposes. I also was given a set of bamboo steamer baskets as a gift. Need to know what to use in them. I already had the steamer basket. Nice video.
I bought those egg bite things because they were advertised as popsicle molds and I have small kids so they’re the perfect size. Then I realized I can bake with them in my instant pot which was a huge bonus!
I just want to say THANK YOU!! I watched this video BEFORE heading over to Amazon and order order order!! It was the glass lid that I was looking for, for when I decide to make my own yogurt. I did what you suggested and Voilà!! Low and behold, I have a vented glass lid that fits my 3qt! But I made sure the Instant Pot glass lid also had the vent whole. And it did! You just save me some money for something I already had🤑🤑 Thanks again☺️
Hi Lisa. I bought an Instant Pot at the beginning of the quarantine. Your channel has been very helpful in helping me learn how to use it. I like your tips and recommendations. I made your yogurt recipe and it was delicious and easy.
Thank you. I was looking into some of these accessories to buy and wasn't sure which one until I see your RUclips. Thank you very much. You have good delivery on the video. I want to compliment you. You look pretty and stay confident. Ignore any nay Sayers - some negative and rude critics. Appreciate this video.
Lisa thank you for the advise. I've been using my instant pot for a while and now want to branch out my recipes. I'm buying what I need and not a kit. Thank you
Tried to get individual pieces online but couldn’t so bought a kit. Have used the springform pan for banana bread and it was great. Laughed at the little blue silicone mitts but then was looking for something to lift the liner out straight after QR. mitts were perfect. But it has paper things which I don’t know what they are for. Has a great steamer basket Btw I took your excellent advice and just tried a little thing each day when I started three weeks ago. I have risen bread, cooked fish, boiled eggs, made a stew and now making porridge. Love it. Thanks so much for your brilliant videos!
@@pattiedeville8302 it's called a new Mexico enchilada casserole, I think. In other words, I am too lazy to roll enchiladas. I make enchilada sauce, saute corn tortillas and grate cheese and layer them up with whatever filling. Works great in the oven. I have only done it twice in the instant pot.
Very nicely done. I did immediately look for accessories that I thought would encourage my use, like I knew from experience that I wanted to learn to steam veggies, so I did invest in a nice steamer basket that I do use all the time. I did learn quickly that I had a pan lid that fit perfectly, and that has been great. You are correct, though, that most are unnecessary and low quality.
Thank you Lisa for your videos. As a relatively newbie to Instant Pot use, I really wanted advice on which accessories are worth buying. I believe the whisk is going to be my first purchase followed by the steamer basket. You are a marvelous instructor and very pleasant to listen to.
Thank you for sharing everything you do. I completely agree it's complicated in the beginning but then it's just like making macaroni and cheese afterwards!
New sub here, I’ve had my instant pot for awhile ( bought and used an electric pressure cooker from the thrift store until it died, then bought an instant pot) both our girls had them by then and also my sisters. ( I told them all how neat an electric pressure cooker was they all chose the instant pot) so that’s what I bought. And I love it! I agree with all your tips here! Thanks for the suggestions!
I bought a bundle, and a couple of us split it up. I took the glass lid, the cheesecake pan, and the magnets. I liked them. I bought a directional steam vent having seen what steam can do to cabinets.
Aw Lisa, took me nearly a year as well to buy an accessory and what did I buy? A KIT! I've opened the box but I have not used an item in it yet. Should have found you sooner. Thanks for sharing, I've subscribed.
Super helpful review! I love your tips ... checked it out before ordering my instant pot and again after using for several weeks, as per your suggestion. Now I am ready to order accessories that I both need and will use. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU for including the 3 quart as well. I just inherited a 3 quart and wondered if some accessories could be interchanged. I already have an 8 quart IP and absolutely love it so when I inherited the 3 qt....I was like a kid in a candy store.
My favorite accessories and MUST haves are a tall trivet, extra rings, extra liner, IP liner plastic top, steamer basket, stainless dual pots with sling, and last but not least my Crisper lid.
Ok I'm kinda new at this InstaPot cooking thing, ( 2nd week of having 1) My wife got ours from a HABIT FOR HUMANITY resale store for $20. So in order to cook my adapted version of fall apart roast beef, without the tall trivet, I rolled 3 balls of aluminum foil to about 1- 1/2 inches set in the bottom of the bucket then set the short trivet on that... and wha'la it worked beautifully.
Hi Lisa!I appreciate your honesty! Thanks for taking the time to do a video and for sharing your personal experience with the products :). Best of success on your projects (y) !
I think that's perfect advice~ it is always best to get to know your appliance first, I'm w/you. I am also extremely frugal~ not to mention, kitchen real estate is valuable, & I don't want to have a bunch of useless clutter in my space.
I am glad I got this vlog about instant pot. I bought one for Christmas. I have no clue how to use it. I am going to watch your vlogs and start using it.
I use my extra trivet to hold wax paper or parchment paper down on the steamer basket or bowl to keep water out of baked goods. I can also stack 2 types of foods using my egg trivet with my other 2 trivets,, as each is a different height. I found a small kit with a steam diverter, a steamer basket and a egg bits cooker for $16 on Amazon. A good deal, with nothing I don't want, but you gotta spend the time and look thru all the other kits to find what works for you!
Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! Let me know what your favorite accessory is and if you agree or disagree with me! Have a great week! - Lisa

Not me! I also appreciate you mentioning the kits, because I’d been looking into them but didn’t want to buy something I wouldn’t use.
You have no need to respond to this, but your smile is to die for. I enjoy your shows, but I melt when you smile. Your husband is a lucky fellow.
Just found your videos and purchased an instant pot. Love, love your videos and your easy way you speak to the camera. You are a keeper!
Lisa you are excellent teacher. You come across very honest and interested in providing the best education.
You are the best instant pot vlogger! Truly! Awesome job
Thank you. My best friend got me an early Christmas present of a 6qt IP. I have pressure canned food all my life but now, I need to learn again... (smile) I have used it every day since it got here.
After I wash my ring in the dishwasher I place it in the sun and it takes away any remaining odor and makes the ring white just like a new ring.
Great tip... how often do you do this? I was curious if I should be using a separate ring for meat, poultry, desserts, etc... but, I like your idea 💡 Thanks 😊
Every time I use my instant pot. I also have two rings in case I'm using my pressure cooker more than once a day.
@@nancyleitner6396 Ty... Should I wipe the under part of the lid after removing the ring?
I put the top of my pressure cooker along with the ring and insert all in the dishwasher. Be sure and take off the valve and wash that by hand.
After dishwashing the ring, I high pressure 2 cups of water and 3-5 Tbs of baking soda for 30 minutes to get rid of any remaining odor.
I'm so excited I found your channel. I just pre-ordered your book on Amazon. I never see cooking for one so I'm very happy.
I just saw this video and it was so very helpful, I was looking at the kits and the magnets ! SO glad to hear your weird advice! Thank you..
Thanks! You just saved me $25. I had a lid in my Amazon cart. Checked my cabinet and there's one there that fits! Decided to skip the silicon lid for now too, since I can use plastic wrap. But I think I'll get the steamer because my wife steams veggies all the time.
I am Thankful for your recommendations, true & honest ; no one wants to buy the wrong items @ least someone already tried them out for us ,thank you 😊
I enjoyed your video.
Great video! I purchased the steamer basket about a year ago, from your suggestion and I use it all the time! My favorite is to make broth in it.
great idea!
I just got my first instant pot! I absolutely love it! Your videos are wonderful. I’ve purchased a few accessories, but I’m not going to go crazy.
I agree with your thought on the kits. I was new to the instant pot so I purchased one and the only thing I’ve used is the egg holder.
Thank you.
You are spot on! Loved your video. Clear, concise info. You have a new subscriber!
Love the video, hard to hear you with the music playing.
Thank you, Lisa, for your videos, you are a pleasure to watch. You are polite, and in these days of rude and "cool" people, you are refreshing!
Great advise! I'll be following and recommending you.
Thanks your video was very helpful , I am so glad I haven’t purchased any accessories yet and now I will now purchase with your advise. Thanks again
Great video, love the out -takes. I agree with all your recommendations. I'm an instant pot user for 3+ years, and a pressure cooker user for over 50 years. Keep up the blog and videos. I enjoyed watching and learned some new things as well. Thanks.
I Bought the Duo Crisp, so I use the Airfryer Basket as a steaming basket.
How did you know you could do that? I’m too much of a rule follower for my own good!
@@NicE-jq3wv It didn't make sense to buy an extra piece. Now it has been over 1 year and I still have not bought any accessories.
The only accessory I've bought is the steamer basket, I think it is very nice to have.
Love the channel so far, one small suggestion.. maybe do the blooper reel at the end instead of the beginning.. just so it gets straight to the content. I subscribed! Keep up the awesome work.
Everyone has an opinion.
I totally agree that this video is awesome work. I've never seen bloopers at the beginning of a video or movie, but that format makes you look human, approachable and just like an every-day person. It made me really want to see what you had to say next. Good for you.
Can I fit a rack under the steamer basket? I don't like it to sit in the water.
I'm a newbie on Instant Pot and I loved your comments and recommendations. 👍😜
Thanks Lisa for this important info and I just love your channel
I use the cheesecake push bottom pan for enchilada casserole (stacked enchiladas).
Yummy!!
I don’t believe the enchiladas thing without the recipe 😂
@@pattiedeville8302 it's called a new Mexico enchilada casserole, I think. In other words, I am too lazy to roll enchiladas. I make enchilada sauce, saute corn tortillas and grate cheese and layer them up with whatever filling. Works great in the oven. I have only done it twice in the instant pot.
hi Lorrie post your recipe plz, would like to try
Oh yeah gonna to have to try that one.
I love your videos! I bought an instant pot a few weeks ago and I have used it almost everyday since! Has made dinner so much easier for me.
Was about to purchase a instant pot kit. Great advice, thanks!
I use the steamer basket to put the bones in for bone broth. Just slowly remove the basket and you have the broth left.
So clever!
I do the same with chicken stock. 😀
I just got one for Xmas from my mil, and this was why I told her I wanted one. I was so shocked she gifted me one ♥
That is genius. Thanks.
Great idea!!
I recently started making bone broth for my bad knees... I'll hv to get a steamer basket now!!
Thank you Lisa for your videos. As a relatively newbie to Instant Pot use, I really wanted advice on which accessories are worth buying. I believe the whisk is going to be my first purchase followed by the steamer basket. You are a marvelous instructor and very pleasant to listen to.
Very helpful. I agree use it before you buy accessories.
Very informatuce video Lisa. I am considering buying an instant pot and found the video very informative without promoting any brand.
My favorite accessories and MUST haves are a tall trivet, extra rings, extra liner, IP liner plastic top, steamer basket, stainless dual pots with sling, and last but not least my Crisper lid.
Ok I'm kinda new at this InstaPot cooking thing, ( 2nd week of having 1)
My wife got ours from a HABIT FOR HUMANITY resale store for $20.
Thank You so much!!! We have a new instant pot (3 QT.) Your vid answered questions that I didn't even know I needed answers for.
Love using that steamer basket with a handle in Instant Pot! Great video! 💚💚💚
I think that's perfect advice~ it is always best to get to know your appliance first, I'm w/you. I am also extremely frugal~ not to mention, kitchen real estate is valuable, & I don't want to have a bunch of useless clutter in my space.
Ordered the steamer basket last night can’t wait to try it !
