- In this video I talk about the Nothing Phone (1), what I think about some of its most controversial aspects, and why I think they are justifiable and probably the right choices for such a product.
The Nothing Phone (1) is Nothing's first phone, the Car Pei led smartphone maker has been making the rounds on the tech media recently. This is not a review of the Nothing Phone 1.

The fact that they call it NOthing and they trying to do something different, whether hype or not, id buy it!! Good valid points there Mr. Nokia, banging video as always
people just want a phone that starts with "snapdragon 8" , frankly if you're not a baby playing pubg you won't notice the difference
Sorry, but the 778G is far far behind the 8 gen 1, but i agree that not many people need the 8 gen 1. I think the 870 could have been a pretty good middle ground.
@@pennymarketenjoyer898 no. 870 won't get 4 years of OS update. Also the phone doesn't need it. The phone only has 50mp dual camera setup, 2k panel with 120hz, which the 778g can handle. It's not built with flagship specs. So what's the point.
@@sarathb4602 not 2 k panel
@@mrjoker8585 2048x1080 is a 2k panel.
Cost is a big factor.
If Mr Nokia thinks the SD 480 is good enough then lordy lordy the 778 is more than good enough
Nokia XR20 sparked more interest than nothing because of its hardware.
It's a midrange phone with a midrange chipset for a midrange price that offers a lot of unique features and a unique look. What's the issue here I don't get it..
Same... But look at every idiots out there hating it... They made me so confused! I was so confused to buy it or not! I will surely buy it after seeing this video! Enough confusion
مبدع دائما ياعبدالله .. لغة تتدرس وتصوير ولا اروع .. شيء جميييل
I put a pre-order on this phone. In Sweden Pixel mobiles are not avaible. So this was a nice option. For Nokia they only got low budget phones now. So Nothing Phone 1 was a phone that fit my needs, no bloatware as I understand it.
Were can I get it ?
Awesome video 👍
Nice review 🙂
We want more revolutionary device from Nokia which will be shake the Smartphone industry & will be budget friendly Flagship Killer dashing product ...we want to see that hype for Nokia again when Nokia 6 was pre-booked 🙂
-Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩😊
Nokia Windows Phone was a great phone not because of the design nor the camera because of the user interface / LG g5 ((first with wide lens )) was a great phone because of the possibilities of developers for the extra parts, but the reviewers gave it negative reviews for stupid reasons. Metal is not metal. The glasses are not the best glasses....
I tried the LG velvet , a mobile with an mid processor, but the design, screen and cameras are better than all devices with high-class processors in terms of software, hardware and user interface
In the end, I think the success of the device depends on marketing and reviewers
if only Nokia (HDM )as a company was as dedicated as you are!!!.
But lets hope for the best :-)
An honest thought on the phone and a great video with valid points. As always great video.
Almost stock android seems appealing , but it's quite annoying , quite expensive. Midrange is just a term to say, pay up $500 else suffer low quality product
Personally I’ve been torn between getting nothing phone 1, Nokia x30 or Samsung s21 fe
Have you actually seen the phone or testing the os?
Nothing phone starts at £399 in the UK so easily undercuts more flash phones.
Price is right. Same as XR20 when that came out.
Better phone than the XR20 but probably won't do as well when thrown at a wall.
Excellent video. It’s true that people want both sides of the coin. The reality is that the nothing phone is not a contender for the iPhone 13 or galaxy s22. It’s real contenders are the pixel 6a, galaxy fe and iPhone se 3. When you pitch it against those phones I think it has every chance of being very successful. I would happily buy the 399 model over all of those….. but I’m holding out for the XR21😉
Forgot about the use case of glyph! A premium in hand feel phone which is unique in design priced within mid range budget. A clean no no sense stock OS with guaranteed 3 yrs of OS & 4 yrs of security updates. A good & decent display with GG5 on the both sides. A good & decent battery life. Again, a good & decent camera performance which doesn't over saturate, over sharpen, over process & produces neutral colours. All with a capable & efficient SD778 processor! Top it with LPDDR5, UFS 3.1, 33W quick wired charging & wireless charging! And the kernal source has already been released, so we can expect some strong support from the developers in the coming months!
And assuming the NOTHING team stays committed to this phone & provides strong support & iron out the bugs in future, I don't know why people hate this phone!
Everything matter! Everything! Power reserve must be have. Otherwise, software updates will slow down the phone and failures are inevitable in future.
And fast charging looks more attractive than a capacious battery with slow charging.
Sure but it needs to be looked at in context. You cant just take one aspect alone and build conclusions because everything is connected
You have to spend more money for that kind of phone
finally someone saying what's real !
I miss those days when money wasn't an issue and creative teams were locked down in a room with unlimited amount of high quality flour.
When OnePlus first came out, it was offering flag ship specs at budget prices.
So the rationale was that Nothing was offering the same but it wasn't.
It's just a Motorola with flashing lights.
And that ain't nothing but flashing lights.
So yeah I can understand the reason for the hype hate coz the Nothing ain't no big deal.
But as you say, gotta respect the hustle.
I mean if you ignore the build, design, wireless charging and long software support, then yeah it's a moto with flashing lights :p
Smartphones aren't that exciting anymore. And even oneplus had to completely change their strategy with time. I like how balanced the nothing phone is
@@AbdullaZaki I suspect that Nothing are doing a loss leader and the price of the phone is more expensive than retail. But sell it cheap to get sales .
I have nothing against Nothing but I do remember when OnePlus first came out and they were a real game changer.
Pixel 6A is same price. So ya know....but I am glad they are moving away from the usual Chinese bloatware and plastic build.
I would like to see a test between the XR20 v Nothing Phone (1)
Drop it from 5 meters to show who the boss followed by immersion in water.
We got this Kings.
That doesn't make xr20 superior. It's still a underpowered garbage
Nokia5.3 12 update? & X21 launching Date
If only the design is original and not iPhone-y, but that requires a big budget that they probably don't have right now.
I think the phone isn't bad and some people will like it. It might not be for everyone, but there is always a market. Let's hope all the critics are proofed wrong
Thanks for making this, I never thought I'd be defending the guy either; but man oh man are people proving Pavlov correct. THIS is why LG left the market THIS is why HMD Global decided to not go straight back to the late Nokia Lumia designs and it is ALL thanks to china and Apple
Thank you for calling out the tech RUclipsrs too. The landscape has gotten toxic.
And what about the quality issues? Why was it not discussed?
Because manufacturing defects happen to every phone, but with nothing being a startup the spotlight will shine on them more than others for the time being. Plus its not like you can't return the phone and get a new one as you would with any other defective product.
I'm a tech enthusiast but all these sweaty tech stuff and the toxicity just makes me want to buy an iPhone and be done with it
Keep safe brother God bless
I think the nothing phone 1 will pave the way for brand new phones from the nothing brand for better phones with better specs and processor I mean they are just starting out and since they offer refreshing design and innovation it is worth the shot it is like how Cherry Mobile here in the Philippines when they introduced the Aqua S10 Pro and many would say that since Cherry Mobile is notorious for bad phones that break they view it with a negative light instead of allowing criticism and negativity to push Cherry Mobile back what Cherry Mobile did is they researched and even borrowed a phone design from Hisense and came up with Aqua SV 5G and it suprised everyone from its specs to design and many of its detractors even praise it overall if Cherry Mobile can do that so can the Nothing Company I believe their innovation will bring more options for us consumers.
I agree with everything said in this video.
A keyboard with rgb, he's a pro gamer my dude..
It is a good looking phone that is different. Hope the best for them as it isn't the same old slab of glass, plastic, and metal. I will stick with my Nokias but it is a good device.
But I don’t believe in big youtubers anymore. Just think for a second if a new manufacturers removes 3.5mm audio jack from their phone but big boys like Sammy and Apple don’t. Do those big youtubers let the new brand pass as easily as they have allowed the big boys!
we are losing hardware features one by one from smartphones.
You cant buy a flagship that supports SD card and 3.5mm headphones jack.
There are no more mini flagship without compromise like Samsung galaxy s7 or s10 either you go with S22 ultra or buy s22 with compromises everywhere from display resolution to cameras.
Good slap to so called techs

Yea I felt irritated after watching techaltar, mrwhosetheboss, and mkbhd reviews on nothing and all of them hating on it.
The reason for all the toxic and other forms of comment on the phone is only because of the hype. More the hype, more the words / video tsunami!
This is their first product. Just hark back to the first Samsung foldable and what a disaster it was ( at least for some!). This phone is just about ok.
But I agree with you. The world needs competition. For the better. I personally don't like the glyph and I dont like it for it not being IPS 67. But otherwise, if you put a nice black case on it or have an opaque skin, then I would pick up one as I have a spare 33 watt charger lying around 😉.
By the way, the glyph, if viewed in isolation appears to be a small 'c' and a large stylized 'P'. Any resemblence to Carl Pei is purely coincidental😁
Review Nokia C21plus smartphone bro .
not the most beneficial one for sure.
I swear, toxic people have been really popping up here and there in every community these last few years
Unfortunately people want the same smartphone copied and pasted and if anything does something slightky different they complain its not the phone they had in mind. They will complain about every aspect
@@AbdullaZaki it's basically becoming Marvel phase 4 lol
@@abe-kun hahaha something like that. Can't personally say I'm a fan of phase 4 😁
@@AbdullaZaki uh, you might wanna deal with the comment above this one
Hear hear!
Nokia should do this
For £400 mid range phone that is different is a positive.
Get the phone and drop your thoughts on it please😪
I like my new X10, but: Nothing phone looks good.. :)
Love it trust it Nokia
Its hilarious when people sit and waste their time raging over how bad or overpriced a product seems. and so on. Meanwhile an obvious fact escapes their minds. You dont have to buy the product
As i said in previous posts .. for me - design is everything. Materials, feel, weight and shape. In todays phones .. no "real" person spots a great difference in camera performance or gaming performance anyway. I bet - provided the same screen shape and size .. hardly anyone can tell the difference between the performance of a Samsung s22 ultra vs. a Nokia X20. The Nokia might skip a frame here and there, but nothing the human eye really realizes. Also - the Nokia might not play youtube videos in 8k .. but why would you want to on a small screen?
The nothing phone is ... fine. It follows the design philosophy of clinical sterility of the late 90 to early 2000. (the white version) A clear phone with LEDs ... not quite a revolution, but about as revolutionary as the first PC case with a clear glass side ... with LEDs. Sure, before there were a few phones with transparent parts (Red Magic) or even full transparency (oneplus 8). There were phones with LEDs, too (various gaming phones). The nothing phone just brings a bit of tasteful design to those elements, combining them with a retro (iphone x) look.
I think it looks very good. Would i buy it if i was looking for a phone at the moment? .. maybe .. because it is different, yet good looking. But it suffers the same problem all phone manufacturers suffer ... most people have a phone and you need a very small window in which people switch. By the time i want to switch to a new phone, i am sure there will be a nothing phone 2 - or a copy-cat of another brand.
Is it technically revolutionary? nah ... but it doesnt need to.
edit: i do not like the name though - its pretentious. something a teenager might come up with - but maybe that is the target group, considering its a mid-ranger. As for the hype - that is just a standard marketing strategy of a new company, especially one with an old face.
my dear nothing phone is one of the best phones and its growing so fast then nokia ....just tell me one thing how far nokia will grow up and become one of the smartest phones
I Think nothing phone 1 is perfect. If you want only performance then asus rog 6 is for you.
Nokia 8.3, 7.2,8.1 ,XR20 is best
Google pixel 6A is best
the biggest culprit of today's boring smartphone are these tech reviewers
Iam using right now that phone
It's simple.
Nothing Phone 1 is a lesser value if compared to OnePlus 1 at launch.
This is what fans hoped for.
Carl Pei is quite shady, especially his marketing style. Look at the chinese forums, most people don't like him nowadays.
Yes, this might be different if you're one of those 'western' audiences.
Apart from the chipset, I dont see anything that is of less value in this device. 🤔 It has also included many of the flagship features which OnePlus phones used to skip (like wireless charging)
By daily driver right now
you are wrong
No.
i see wat u did there 😂 shots fired at Samsung lol but Samsung's software is the most polished android skin in the world and wat u call "bloatwear" well i prefer using Samsung apps instead of google apps, the real bloatwear is all the google trash that comes on my Samsung galaxy phone :P
I wasn't directing this to Samsung btw :)
