There wasn't anything remotely interesting about this budget phone.. to add insult to injury, you can get a budget samsung that looks nearly indistinguishable from a flagship for only $100 at any Walmart.. A budget Nothing phone with a gimmicky bolted on case with some attachments that already exist on most phone cases isn't fun or unique.. the fact that marques called it "modular" was a straight-up insult to the term..

well it just came out so of course its only youtubers and shit rn, and honestly i think its genuinely great for $200, having a budget phone with actual software support, 120hz nice screen, easily replaceable back incase you scratch it to hell, spot to properly mount stuff to your phone which could be nice for little 3D printed accessories(and of course the kickstand that has more support due to being physically screed into it instead of just using magnets or adhesive) also as much as people are saying the battery not being easily swappable sucks (kinda does) it still makes replacing the battery easier compared to almost any other phone on the market currently. only maybe killer for me at least is the no nfc cause google pay is literally my only way of paying for stuff but I'm pretty sure alot of people dont care for nfc pay so- as a google pixel 6 user for the past few years, im just happy to see companies other then google making actual nice budget/mid-range phones cause pixels have wayyy too many issues for being made by the company that makes fuckin android and half the software everyones forced to use.

If they make a tablet, I would buy it from Nothing without a heartbeat. To my surprise I was expecting it to be laggy with a crap screen and bloatware galore. Was I wrong. This phone is more than good enough and I usually get the latest and greatest for tech and always turned my nose to any brand I'm not familiar with. Comes with factory screen protector and feels like but premium in hand. It is roughly a tenth of the price (almost) to my iPhone 14 pro Max and I am super impressed. Sure I have less capacity but I have all my photos and videos on the cloud so storage is rarely an issue. The camera is not bad as well but obviously not equal to the flag ship phones. Can't confirm the battery life as I don't use this phoneas a daily driver due to lack of NFC. Would have paid more for this phone if it had NFC support. Aside from the NFC omission, this phone has decent speed with no UI lag, 5G support, great AMOLED screen. Tick tick tick but no NFC and only single speaker down the bottom right so it gets muted wirh your hand easily.

People complaining about NFC needs to know that most of Indian online payments doesn't need NFC. Most of the payments are done through UPI which sufficiently makesup for NFC. Even in weak network areas, you can do payments through SMS. So good decision by CMF
@@luke_angelo That is true and while the phone is on sale in other countries it is made with the Indian market in mind so I don't think the exclusion of NFC is all that big of a deal, it would have been a good thing if they included that as well but majority of their target customers will not use NFC anyways so it's not a deal breaker for them in any capacity.

No removable battery is a huge mis-step. I would buy a phone like this as my hiking phone if I could just buy few extra batteries instead of bulky powerbank. Absolutely love everything else about it. Reminds me of the old days of Nokia 3310, buying different covers for it. Good times.
Removable battery has its benefits, environmental especially as with time battery ages and instead of replacing battery we end of buying a new phone. But having a removable battery will reduce its efficiency and it will last way less. I think having a big 20,000 mah or heck even a larger 50K or 100K with you makes more sense for hiking. You can charge a laptop or even lights or other emergency equipment. Why do you want to buy multiple batteries to a phone! That doesn’t make sense to me. Carrying a bigger power bank is always advisable.
I mean sure, if you have a safe place to put multiple loose lithium ion batteries when you're out hiking in a way that's somehow less bulky than a power bank.
@@Psop-mq8si and is over 3 times as expensive. The whole point of a "hiking phone", at least from my understanding, would be to have a cheaper, more "disposable" phone in case something happens to it that would also allow for battery swaps. I like how Nothing is really trying to go the extra mile and make even a budget phone interesting and fun. We don’t see that often with the $250 samsungs and xiaomis of the world.
Starting the video wearing the phone as a lanyard is a baller move 😂

1:00 I wouldn't say "it doesn't stand out", this might be one of the cheapest phones that can shoot 4k 30fps and have electronic image stabilization and have 4xA78 cores, 1 or 2 year ago you would be happy if you get 2 A78 or 4 A76 as performance cores on 200$ phone.
“It’s the phone taking RUclipsrs and Influencers by storm! Regular users, not so much.”
well it just came out so of course its only youtubers and shit rn, and honestly i think its genuinely great for $200, having a budget phone with actual software support, 120hz nice screen, easily replaceable back incase you scratch it to hell, spot to properly mount stuff to your phone which could be nice for little 3D printed accessories(and of course the kickstand that has more support due to being physically screed into it instead of just using magnets or adhesive) also as much as people are saying the battery not being easily swappable sucks (kinda does) it still makes replacing the battery easier compared to almost any other phone on the market currently. only maybe killer for me at least is the no nfc cause google pay is literally my only way of paying for stuff but I'm pretty sure alot of people dont care for nfc pay so-
as a google pixel 6 user for the past few years, im just happy to see companies other then google making actual nice budget/mid-range phones cause pixels have wayyy too many issues for being made by the company that makes fuckin android and half the software everyones forced to use.

They are not going out of their way to make it interesting, they are exactly doing what makes THEM more money. This stupid phone is designed to charge you a premium for a rubber case, you could get from AliExpress for ANY phone.
It's interesting how we came around. I got Honor Magic 6 Pro in Green and at first I was not convinced about "Vegan Leather" back because I always liked how glass feels premium, but after using it for a while longer I find it much more durable (obviously) much more easy to hold, not getting overheated as glass and it really grew on me. I see more phones following this trend, as for example Motorolas RAZR.
It's a nice little gimmick for sure, on top of an already attractive phone for 200 dollars. Won't call it game changing but it's cool to have some DIY elements on a boring slab!

As an Indian, I see this as a pretty competitive offering for its price. The competitors are mainly the budget ranges of Chinese brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme; and Samsung. From a iPhone pro Max user: Saw this phone on sale a few weekends ago nd grabbed one out of curiosity. Can't recall when I had a device this feature rich at such a low price in the last 25 years.

@@luke_angelo bro, CMF phone 1 major customer target is India. Marques said it himself. So yeah, it's a good decision.

Oui but mate. Like 15000mah same size and weight as the Nokia 3310.
Prolly could charge your phone like four times over mate.
Get the Fairphone 5, you can swap both the back cover and the battery and you don't even need the screwdriver...
@@Psop-mq8si and is over 3 times as expensive.
The whole point of a "hiking phone", at least from my understanding, would be to have a cheaper, more "disposable" phone in case something happens to it that would also allow for battery swaps.
A 700 euro phone with a replaceable battery that you'd still need protective storage for doesn't really scream "dedicated hiking phone".
