I just had a new-found respect for Carl Pei. He's so down-to-earth, and seems like he really cares about their consumers

He is a businessman, and having an army of sheep like Apple's is every company's dream. So, these CEOs are kind of "forced" to be like this if they want to have such an army.
For those of you who don’t remember. Cell phones use to have led notifications. For years, I thought it would be a great idea to have leds to do more on cell phones. I prefer them on the front or on the top and bottom corners of the front. I'm not sure how often I am looking at the rear of my phone.
I think the reason it’s stationed on the back is because it’s meant to keep your eyes off the actual screen as much as possible. An experience where you leave it sitting near you and only have to glance at it to see if something you actually care about has happened. I think it’s an interesting approach
so I think its fantastic, that the LED Light is on the backside, because since I have a smartphone I lay it with the front side on the table, to not scratch the camera glass. So now with my nothing phone I know when I get a message without turning it.

I was skeptical at first, but now I find it to be useful. Everyone's situations are going to be different, so I can only speak on my experiences with the Nothing Phone 1, but I find when I have a headset on when gaming or playing music, or out in the shop working with ear protection on, it catches my attention when I have an incoming call. Especially better than those old LEDs I had on my flip phones from the late 90's - 00's. When out with family/friends, I have the flip to mute enabled to disable my ringer, so I just put the phone face down, and it will flash when I have a call, so I don't have to go into the volume and silent the phone that way.
Some older ohones and budget had those at the front. It was a charging indicator also

Not really! Brands use influencers to sell their products. All part of marketing and brands go to any extent to get publicity. This is just an economical way than paying millions in ads.

He’s one of the most transparent and down to earth CEOs out there. He did a comparison between the Nothing 1 and iPhone and basically chose the iPhone over his own product. Great guy. I’ll buy the nothing 2 because I’m curious about android and it’s my choice.

I see Carl in a video, I hit like. That's my micro contribution to letting the world know that that's what I want from CEOs. So cool how he can just be in "the real world" and have genuine interactions with real people. Can anyone picture any other CEO doing that?

Loved how far they have come in terms of improvement in phone and as a company ... And loved arun grow over these years .... Videos are getting so interactive thay i done even buy a phone for years bus still watch his videos... And that is one cool and honest ceo ... Loved that he said he values the money and performace .... Loving this guy already ....
I do like the fact that the packaging is a one-time experience. It’s definitely something from their teenage engineering heritage: don’t dwell on the packaging, it’s better to have it be recycled than collect dust in a closet
Um not really i paid a sum of money for it, why would i throw it in the trash. Letting it dust in closet so i can find it again in the future and be nostalgic to it.

This is one of my favorite tech videos ever! I’m definitely considering the Nothing Phone 2.
I totally enjoyed this interview. It just feels very honest and trustworthy, something we don't often see these days.
I really like how Arun just gives his straight opinion on how he disagrees with the camera module. Arun really shows that he is not biased to a specific company. As for us watching his awesome video, we can trust that Arun is giving a sincere review about each phone. 😊😊😊

This is the definition of down to earth. And arun, Idk how to express it but I'll try, you've reached to a much higher level now, interviewing Google ceo, getting a CEO to your home for video, getting sponsored by android! And all of the stuff you're doing in general.... Awesome!
Eventhough it is a recorded and edited video, I could sense a lot of tension in the atmosphere. It is actually a good thing as both of them are trying to do things that majority of people are afraid of. Being true and honest in this era is very hard.
Hat's off to Arun and Carl for their efforts.
I think if you watch Nothing's channel or videos, you would come to understand this is more of Carl Pei's way of speaking and presence. He is just very straightforward, not too jokey, very fact-oriented and well-spoken. I don't think there is alot of tension, it seems from "sleep" in Carl's eyes that he's had a LONG run of press for this phone, and I can tell judging from my inbox. :)

Been using my phone 1 since last yr, it is such a great phone. Clean ui, regular updates,hardly any lags.

I always wanted to try nothing phone and finally i had a chance to touch it in the shop, that phone is smooth, the OS working smooth and fast. Its no brainer to buy that phone if you re on the budget. And you want a decent phone.

Carl Pei is like that one dude who makes any kind of tech really special but in a chillish vibe, because on how he's been able to meticulously see the details even in microns on products, and that Phone (2) really shows that you don't wanted to change the design, and become really easy to see a familiar face with just your own two eyes

Honestly didn't know whether to buy the Nothing 2 or not but this interview really sold it for me. Seems like the CEO really cares about the product and is trying to achieve his vision of the phone and not just copy others. It might not be the best out there YET!! but I'm here for the ride !! this convinced me that it has potential to be the best one day so I'll take a risk.

It's refreshing to have a down to earth CEO who explains everything and even gives us a glimpse into the business side of things to try and understand things from the company's perspective, rather than building an inclusive, self-isolating empire like some big brands.
in fact in 2009 samsung launched the samsung H1 with white LED notifications and by the way very well located, with a futuristic look, i had one and I loved it! although at the time with the limo Os, made in partnership with the Vodafone network

Ngl I hope they put the same features especially in the glyph lights of nothing phone 2 to the phone 1, the glyph lights for me is very helpful but i do hope we have more customizable options when it comes to app notifications.
You can implement a message count, if count > n then lighten the backlight.
That can stop people keep checking their messages.

@8:53 to your Form Vs Functionality point its a Phone with a camera not the other way round right. Honestly whats the point of a huge sensor when most people dont know how to use it. The best decision Imo was taken by google as far as camera's are concerned where they decided to limit the hardware capabilities and do more with software(in the context of phones). If you want a good camera just buy a camera right, not a phone? just a random thought
