Mr. Abdulla has never been happier reviewing a Nokia smartphone. I'm so happy for him and for Nokia for finally getting back on the serious game track 😼 also, shout-out to kitty 😸😸😸
I like the minimalistic approach of this phone. Hopefully they'll release flagship phone soon because it's the only tier that's missing in their lineup. Great review as always 👌
Undoubtedly it was a great advance of the HMD, compact screen, good camera, and premium design, I liked the device, after many wrong decisions it seems that HMD realized the ideal strategy, I liked the photos, it seems that they hit the camera, I hope they launch more models of this quality level going forward. I'm going to buy a white model, I thought it was prettier. Now HMD needs to improve availability in the markets, it's still very slow. Great analysis!
I hope that Nokia will keep on this track which to me is a bit back to first HMD Nokia devices. Back then they also focussed more on the build with just adequate hardware instead of going for high performance. I'm also hoping they will do similar stuf for the XR20 successor (if there will be one). By that I mean mainly shifting to the same hardware and screen as the X30. The XR20 already had my favourite build (a mix of metal frame and strudy polycarbonate in a effectively rugged style).
@@AbdullaZaki .. Yes please. My last hope on android is x30, otherwise I will take the risk and order pixel 7 from overseas to Saudi! Moto Ultra disappointed me regarding the video!

I wish HMD would release this phone in the US market. I own the Nokia X100 and I love it but they definitely need to release better mid range models over here. I know we recently got the G400 5G but it'd be cool if they started to bring phones over like this X30 for those people (myself included) who'd like a slightly better Nokia midranger with an improved camera setup with OIS. :)
I hope this one makes it to the US too :) The US market is currently too controlled by carriers though, which is why you don't see them making a lot of creative devices for you guys
@TheMrNokia I Abdulla Zaki you're right, but this will be the first time HMD won't sell a 6 series processor phone in the US since they started making them.
A beautiful start for Nokia. Great device. I think the price should be more competitively priced though Vis a vis the features. All the best in setting up your new studio Abdulla. It's been a great journey so far. Remember when you had just above 2 thousand followers. Keep up the good work.
Always nice to see the ol' Lumia pro camera UI in the camera app. If they kept the centered camera design in the back, it looks somewhat like the Lumia 930.
So Nokia X30 is focusing on ultrawide camera, that capture fusion is totally amazing. But still no one knows if the next thing Nokia to improve would be the video recording. Anyway great job on doing something onto ultrawide camera, For years ultrawide camera is just a secondary camera and its quality will below the one of the main camera, Nokia X30 changed the rule. Now ultrawide resolution is the same as the main camera!
I just want to say after watching your videos, your channel is waaaaay underexposed, video, audio, and creativity are jus phenomenal great job I love the video amazing
I strongly believe having a good camera and long lifespan are the most important features of a phone these days. Good camera when I need it at the spur of the moment and a long battery life for when I get too busy to take care of the remaining charge for the day. X30 seems to have those and I can't wait to buy it next week! Even my Nokia 6.1 Plus takes decent pictures too and the battery life is amazing!
Thank you for the great review! Well done! 👍 I am seriously considering to get this phone. Or maybe wait and pray for a XR30? 🤞😬 Just one question: does it work well with Android auto? I had mixed experiences in the past with Nokia and Android auto. I wish you good luck and all the best for the new studio, already excited for the new content coming from it 😊
Thanks :D My car doesn't have android Auto, but usually problems related to it are not related to a specific phone. The software itself is very buggy, and I've had inconsistent experiences using it on multiple brands. Some people even consider this the biggest reason they prefer using an iPhone! I don't know if we will get an XR30 to be honest. I think we will most likely get an XR21, which will have similar shortcomings to the XR20.
Gotta say you're videos are brilliant I used to love Nokia obviously haven't had one in years but definitely would like to pick one up as a second phone 🤳☺️
You hit those negatives pretty quickly. For a long term mid-ranger, not having microSD and 3.5mm headphone jack is a real deal breaker. Come on HMD, you can do better. These days, those 2 items are (unfortunately), big differentiating features. Nobody ever said "Gee, I wish it didn't have a headphone jack"...
You're right, and if it wasn't becoming a stupid industry trend on premium devices to remove these features, it would be fair to really stop at each omission. I respect Sony a lot for sticking to their guns
Hi Susan, the X30 has monthly security updates, and is running on stock android. While Android isn't as safe as the iPhone, you shouldn't have any security issues using the phone on a daily basis, especially if you don't plan on using installing 3rd party apps from unofficial websites. Nokia phones comes with enterprise recommendation, which also includes things such as safety.
Great review as always! You always cover things by looking at the day to day usage rather than just read off a spec sheet. This might be too much to ask, but if you can, see if you can get your hands on the LG velvet. That phone is quite misunderstood in my opinion and its focus on design might appeal to you :)
Danke für Deine Videos, sie waren für mich kaufentscheidend. i remember when i complained about hmd not being able to pull out a phone similar to the nord 2 with 90hz oled screens, fast charging, and OIS. and they finally did!
I remember the Nokia 808 PureView! An achievement back then. I think if Nokia would have followed those footsteps allied to what the N series became, it would have, certainly became the new standards for what we call "smartphones".
Yesss Abdullah, Thank, You HMD, now i would definitely buy this, You had me at OIS!!!! sadly Nokia in South Africa is like extremely overpriced but id sell my kidney for this, finally HMD on the right track, Excellent Video Mr. Nokia
hi Abdulla, great content as usual. I have a specific quesiton though - how resilient are the chamfered edges from scratches? I remember having a Samsung phone with similar-looking chamfered edges which unfortunately scratched too easily.
Good question. Its hard to know how well the chamfers will hold up over time, but on my 9PV even after a couple of years of ownership, they look fine. It I would still carry this with a case like most modern smartphones just in case.
With 8GB 256 gigs of storage I am on board, I will definitely be purchasing this next if the xr20 doesn't live up to my performance requirement as much as I love the durability, becoming used to the flawless performance of the nine pureview not counting the camera
Abdullah. Thank you so much for your never ending amazing reviews, may Allah bless you with more success with your channel. I was looking forward to this review and it did not disappoint. I don't use benchmarks to determine performance. Smooth handling of tasks versus battery life is all we need to use as a determinant. I guess this phone is just good
Help me out here i thought the X series was their top line but this is being reviewed as mid range? Still hate the generic camera position and that bump is huge
It's good to see nokia putting larger amounts of ram in the phone. It's an area that they could make everyone else look cheap and it has real value. Please talk more about reception/ sensitivity and if the phones have fm radio vs so much focus on the camera.
Remake and update the 1520... To me, it was perfect. Simple but somehow elegant. Minimal but packed full of not only great tech but it was just "cool". It was intuitive and simple and it just made sense...
Mr. Abdulla. I am still waiting for your video about the Snapdragon 695. And I am sure I am not the only one who is waiting about that! Very excited to prove that specs aren't everything! 😁 Happy Holidays to all! 😁😁😁
I replaced my Nokia 7 plus with the X30, the speaker on the X30 is terrible, static noise on low volume, but it's noticable even on mid/high volume. I can't believe how it's not mentioned in reviews, googling this phenomena points to older nokia phones which have the exact same issue. Does anyone else have this issue? (I have an USB DAC Moondrop Dawn + Moondrop Variants IEM which is perfect with HiBy player, but awful with the system DAC driver.)
Hi Tamas, I have 2 X30s, the white one you see in this video and another blue one I bought about a month later. The white one doesn't have static noise at all, while the blue one does. My guess is that some units have a faulty loud speaker, and it's hard to know exactly how widespread the issue is.
In most middle east countries, you will only get the 8GB of RAM version. I don't know if Nokia will make a more expensive device than the X30 in the near future. Probably not. The phone will be available mid of October
Can you please upload the photos on drive and link it in description. I'm planning on getting this for my Dad as he's just a casual user and drops his phone like clumsy amount.
Modern phone use the same idea. I don't know about the technicalities behind the software, but this also combined 4 pixels into 1 for your shots. Differences in how its implemented versus old Nokia pureview phones is unclear
Does the X30 have Action Cam on the video recording? Apologies if missed it on your review. Only thing that I'm not sure about is the size. I'm using 8.3, which is huge 😂, but I prefer bigger screens.
@@AbdullaZaki Hi Abdulla. Thanks for that. I'm slowly getting more and more tempted 😂 I'd like a phone with a good camera set up. Was also thinking XR20. Since I dropped my 8.3 it's got a mind of its own! 🙄😂 Love her video's, by the way! 👏👏👏
@@AbdullaZaki XR20 is in your top list. Would you choose that over the X20? Going to wait until the X30 comes down in price , but in the meantime X20 or XR20. Have watched your video on them but still can't decide. Must also look at G60 review. Thank you 👍
i am always catch up your channel brother. i am nokia user since N70. i am living in Cambodia how can i buy x30 5g to my country? waiting for your advice! have a nice day!
Dear Mr Nokia, maybe you can answer this. Just tried S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro against my X20. Why can't these super expensive phones really make as nice and natural photos as the Nokia phones (X20 in this case).. Both Samsung and Google severly overprocess the end result.. They are both going back to the store. And another question, is the X30 selfie camera better than the one in X20? I mean I watch these videos, reviews and whatnot and you get super photos on them from the latest offerings from the big boys but when I put my hands on one of them it's big dissapointment. Are they shipping less quality stuff to the masses? I mean it's the same story. Every couple of years I would be tempted to try something new thinking the big guys finally caught up with Nokia and try 2-3 phones only to be disappointed and go back to my Nokia. I can tolerate Nokia not having good zooms but I can't tolerate overprocessed, unnatural photos.. And why can't Nokia slap a good zoom on theirs?
Because unfortunately the current current in smartphone photography is overprocessed images, and reviewers will rate a camera phone highly if it produces "too good to be real" images, so brands are stuck in this cycle. Its for this exact reason Nokia camera phones aren't considered "amazing" by the tech community, because their processing is pretty subtle. I think the selfie camera on the X30 is better than the one on the X20. Nokia doesn't make any high end devices right now, and barely any midrange devices come with zoom lenses these days. Its simply a cost cutting measure to be competitive in other aspects.
@@AbdullaZaki Thanks for your answer, Abdulla. Yes, it seems the goal is to make pictures that look good on the tiny phone. I have tried many phones, they all overprocess. I am amazed that years ago with the Lumias we had much better picture quality and today's phones don't even come close. I still keep my 950XL for that reason and I also had 1020 which was another amazing phone. The other day I was looking at photos from the time I owned Galaxy S3. To be honest, Samsung didn't make much progress in picture quality all these years from S3 to S22! And something elese, Nokia 9 which I also owned also overprocesses a bit, but end result is not as ugly by today's standards.
Just did a quick test between X20 and Pixel 7 Pro.. shooting RAW.. For the Nokia there isn't a big difference between the RAW and the JPEG. The Google phone on the other hand produces what looks like a terrible RAW image so this tells me that significant processing happens after that.. strange.. I didn't expect such big difference between RAW files.
@@AbdullaZaki Well, I come to Nokia for that natural photo look. Don't know what the future holds but if they change that I won't be happy. I hope they stick to the Lumia standard.
It'd be nice for Nokia to make a comeback but it remains to be seen. With lots of new brands emerging, it'd be tougher for them to get re-established in the market.
I don't have a pixel 6a to compare but using the unscientific gcam test, I sometimes prefer stock, sometimes prefer gcam output. For low light, stock is better
thanks , do you think is better to pay the extra cash for the 8 gb of RAM and - 256GB of memory . I am coming from Nokia 7.1 which 4GB RAM AND 64 GB MEMORY.?????
the battery usage page looks different than 5.4 running android 12. is it running android 12.1/12L? also how does the display look under very low brightness? does it exhibit some sort of flickering that makes you sick like cheap OLED panels? also this is why I prefer HMD's stock android than some random OEM implementations. It's always the less feature but less bloated Pixel in my eyes. Even on custom rom I'd rather have OpenGapps Pico which is what basically HMD is doing quite similarly. This is why I find it hard to find HMD replacement in terms of out of the box software. I could do that on custom rom but in expense of tripping lots of security checks (SafetyNet/Play Integrity, dm-verity, Knox etc)
thank you . another inquire i have been modern nokia user since nokia 6 and i used nokia 6.1 plus and one of my family has nokia 7 they all have common heat problem and with time battery problem so could u tell me if that changed in nokia x30

Remake and update the 1520... To me, it was perfect. Simple but somehow elegant. Minimal but packed full of not only great tech but it was just "cool". It was intuitive and simple and it just made sense...
Would love to see that too personally.
Yes but without android
@@harryniedecken5321 absolutely lol...
Finally! A HMD phone in a long time living up to the Nokia branding.
that cat is very patient ; looked a bit miserable being showered . It is a nice cat
HI MY FRIEND. MY NOKIA 5.4 HAS UPDATED TO ANDROID 12.ITS WORKING GREAT.
Mr. Abdulla. I am still waiting for your video about the Snapdragon 695. And I am sure I am not the only one who is waiting about that! Very excited to prove that specs aren't everything! 😁
Happy Holidays to all!
Hi Tamas,
I have 2 X30s, the white one you see in this video and another blue one I bought about a month later. The white one doesn't have static noise at all, while the blue one does. My guess is that some units have a faulty loud speaker, and it's hard to know exactly how widespread the issue is.
@@AbdullaZaki Thanks, I have the blue one.
@@AbdullaZaki I went to a local shop and tested another X30 (blue) and I could hear the same static noise, so it might be a common issue.
Maybe only the blue is impacted with this issue 🙁🫤
Should i wait for high end from Nokia or buy this?
When will this be available in Middleeast ?
Is 8GB ram better performance wise ?
In most middle east countries, you will only get the 8GB of RAM version.
I don't know if Nokia will make a more expensive device than the X30 in the near future. Probably not. The phone will be available mid of October
Glad you got sponsored
brother zaki.. do u have any info when nokia purebook will gonna be sold worldwide???
No idea sadly
Come on nokia,, rise again and bring the glory
They need to market this phone better. It has the potential.
Mr. Zaki, i purchased G21 yesterday. Hope it won't disappoint
Can you please upload the photos on drive and link it in description. I'm planning on getting this for my Dad as he's just a casual user and drops his phone like clumsy amount.
Beautiful device
A question - How good is the haptic feedback of this device?
I stil love the lumias at your back sir 😁
Me too haha
@@AbdullaZaki someone is spamming the comments section
Good to see nokia is back on the game
You should compare this with the sony xperia 10 mark iv and the moto edge 30 neo
Both use snapdragon 695g and are priced around the nokia x30 5g
So, it doesn't use patented Nokia PureView oversampling tech as we know and love it on the 808PV and Lumia 1020, right?
Modern phone use the same idea. I don't know about the technicalities behind the software, but this also combined 4 pixels into 1 for your shots. Differences in how its implemented versus old Nokia pureview phones is unclear
Does the X30 have Action Cam on the video recording? Apologies if missed it on your review. Only thing that I'm not sure about is the size. I'm using 8.3, which is huge 😂, but I prefer bigger screens.
Hi Helen! It does, but its called ultra steady video. Moving to a smaller device is something I personally prefer, but its subjective of course haha.
@@AbdullaZaki Hi Abdulla. Thanks for that. I'm slowly getting more and more tempted 😂 I'd like a phone with a good camera set up. Was also thinking XR20. Since I dropped my 8.3 it's got a mind of its own! 🙄😂
Love her video's, by the way! 👏👏👏
@@Helen-uv6ws the X30 is temping haha. Thank you :)
@@AbdullaZaki oops! * Love your videos * 🤪 told you it had a mind of it's own! 👍
@@AbdullaZaki XR20 is in your top list. Would you choose that over the X20? Going to wait until the X30 comes down in price , but in the meantime X20 or XR20. Have watched your video on them but still can't decide. Must also look at G60 review. Thank you 👍
Good design and eco friendly. Looks like Nokia is going back on track. 😊 The chip is a letdown according to the price
hi I have a equation is the phone slippery in the hand please let me know
By the way, curious to see your new setting.
Will take a while to find a nice place, but will keep everyone posted :)
Hu bro, is nokia x30 have ir? What ajoit always displays? Please answer
hope coming to Malaysia like X20..
It's amazing Nokia 5G smartphone,
What is the button Nokia on the table seen few secs in this video??????
i am always catch up your channel brother. i am nokia user since N70. i am living in Cambodia how can i buy x30 5g to my country? waiting for your advice! have a nice day!
hi dear, you can compare Nokia 9 and Nokia x30 about camera this one perfect
@@georgeharizanov6094 that's exactly it. Nokia has very subtle processing generally speaking, though on X30 its more aggressive than before..
@@AbdullaZaki Well, I come to Nokia for that natural photo look. Don't know what the future holds but if they change that I won't be happy. I hope they stick to the Lumia standard.
i fall in love disign 😘
It'd be nice for Nokia to make a comeback but it remains to be seen. With lots of new brands emerging, it'd be tougher for them to get re-established in the market.
Is the camera quality on par with at least a Pixel 6a? For hardware Nokia definitely wins but what about the image processing?
I don't have a pixel 6a to compare but using the unscientific gcam test, I sometimes prefer stock, sometimes prefer gcam output. For low light, stock is better
@@AbdullaZaki I do hope you'll own a Pixel someday so you can compare the camera quality! Or at least borrow it from someone 😂
My nokia 8.3 still in may security patch here in Doha Qatar why like these my beloved nokia....
My unit is on August or september, can't remember which one..
Love the cat scratching and bathing parts😂
Me too haha
thanks , do you think is better to pay the extra cash for the 8 gb of RAM and - 256GB of memory . I am coming from Nokia 7.1 which 4GB RAM AND 64 GB MEMORY.?????
I think its worth it for the extra storage space, not because of the RAM.
Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
the battery usage page looks different than 5.4 running android 12. is it running android 12.1/12L? also how does the display look under very low brightness? does it exhibit some sort of flickering that makes you sick like cheap OLED panels?
also this is why I prefer HMD's stock android than some random OEM implementations. It's always the less feature but less bloated Pixel in my eyes. Even on custom rom I'd rather have OpenGapps Pico which is what basically HMD is doing quite similarly. This is why I find it hard to find HMD replacement in terms of out of the box software. I could do that on custom rom but in expense of tripping lots of security checks (SafetyNet/Play Integrity, dm-verity, Knox etc)
what do u think can be good charger to buy for it ?
I don't have anything specific but anything that supports Qualcomm Quick charge 4 should work
thank you . another inquire i have been modern nokia user since nokia 6 and i used nokia 6.1 plus and one of my family has nokia 7 they all have common heat problem and with time battery problem so could u tell me if that changed in nokia x30
