When TK says "hey Google ..." from my phone my Google home mini hears it halfway across the room it reminds me of that time Burger King used Google home commands in it's ads

Don't forget about smart lights, such as Phillips Hue. You can give Google Home multiple commands to change colours of lights and brightness. They make great bed lights for kids, you can turn them on and off when you're not home or on a holiday via Assistant... So many different things to do. You can also download other free apps that will change the colour of your lights for parties, etc.

The commands that deal with music only work if your a Google play music subscriber it also works if you have bought premium for Spotify
Since I bought a newer Arlo pro camera I can now tell Google to show the cam on any TV that has a Chromecast on it works really good.

Here are two cool Unknown things that you can do: 1) "Hey Google, show me the weather on my TV."
TV= the exact name of your cromecast
2) "Hey Google, repeat after me.... "

We use the streaming - my 5 year old now simply asks for his T.V. shows and voila! I didn’t know about the music, chaining commands or the TV on and off! That’s awesome!

If you have a Samsung Smart TV you don't need to have a Google Chromecast for the on-and-off feature. You can link your Samsung SmartThings account to the Google home account and access it that way.

Set alarms. Did not know about music!
I knew I could do two commands, didn't know about 'then'
Boom clap was a bad example, its the name of the song.
I knew about turning on/off tv
Didnt know about hdmi-cec
I knew I could cast things.

You can also say "Bonjour" to a google home (any one) and it will tell you the weather, traffic conditions near you, and will play a news recording, hopefully it will work for you, ❤❤❤

Knew about all but the music alarm. So excited to be able to be woken up to music! I have been waiting for this feature. I have a Google home in every room in my house, and well, my whole house is full of smart things. Lights, plugs, switches, fans, TV's, thermostat, ect ect. I use my Google Home constantly, so a lot of these I have all become aware of, like I said the music alarm is new to me. Thanks for the tip! 😁

What is that spot or tear on your mini?!?! It was driving me bananas. That and the wires not being hidden in the wall to your tv. My OCD was going haywire. Dope video though

I keep on hoping that someone will eventually make replaceable cover we can put over the mini to protect it from dust, etc... Maybe something similar to tights material which would, hopefully, still let the microphones work...

You can also tell it to repeat after you. You just say ok google repeat after me then it asks you what would you like me to repeat then you say what you want it to repeat then it repeats.

I use a chromecast that's powered from the USB on the side of my Vizio TV, and the USB retains power when the TV is off. Works like a charm, just wanted to add that some TV's can power a Chromecast and power on and off. Awesome tips though.

In the google home app, you can switch the LED order so that it displays correctly when you use the google home upside down as you are. Its called "reverse device controls"

I don't know if you mentioned this function or not... There's one thing I really missed fromy iphone and it's when the countdown stops the music. With google home you can do that by saying "stop music in XX minutes". Doesn't matter what kind of media you're listening (Spotify, RUclips, local music, etc) once the countdown finished it stops the actual media. So when I go to sleep my playlist won't be still played 6 hours later (yeah I know I have an extremely long playlist) when I wake up. The feature I miss is that when there's a reminder it doesn't tell me what the reminder is, just that I have a reminder.

I forgot the ones he’s already mentioned by my fav is “lumos” and “Knox” which is the spell incantations from Harry Potter. It turns on and off the lights in my room. And you can try “winter is coming” which is a game of thrones reference lol

Thanks a lot! I learned about the and/then stuff. I've only had my Home Mini for a couple of months now, got it free through a Spotify promotion. I just signed up for it because it was a free gadget. I used to be 95% against any device that listens to what happens in my home, as in creepy. I've totally changed my mind. I love this little critter.
Also, as others have pointed out, thanks for muting "Ok, Google." I've watched a few YT vids about the Home and Home Mini that sent my Mini into seizures.

I have a google home and two mini's. I knew I could touch the top of the Home but had no idea you could also touch the mini and interact with it. Thanks for that ! I always tell it to stop the alarm in the morning (this takes too long to do if someone else is sleeping)... touching it will be much better.

I think the broadcast command is one of the most underrated. I like to freak out the Mrs when working from home by saying goodnight from 300 miles away ;)
I use it with my son when I am about to get home every day
I broadcast when dinner is ready....it rings a bell and says “it’s dinner time” lol I love it. Or the other day the cat wanted out of the bedroom and my husband didn’t want to get out of bed so he broadcast that the cat wanted out! Laziness at its best 😋

the first gen chromecast will work with casting but it does not support TV control, 2nd gen and later will work the same way as in the video. thank you for the support
Only the specific song for alarm I didn't know. The rest I have figured out. Though I don't think the double touch will turn off the Home as u showed with the mini...will try it now.

setup voice model matching. then it only listens to your ok google command. multiple people can still use the device by using their own Google account and adding their voice to the same Google home. but random voices won't trigger it.
I had tried once before train the TV off but now I know thanks to you that it's because I have the USB plugged into the TV I'll be sure to try plugging it into another source and giving it another shot thank you

You get more precise results if you ask for a timer instead of an alarm.

So almost a year later, but the only command I didn't know and don't yet use is to sound an alarm with music. I offer feedback every couple weeks...
For those that also have a Wink hub and new smart devices that do not show up in Google Home; google command "update Wink devices".

Another cool thing is, once it plays a show from Netflix, next time you just say "play stranger things on TV" it will play it from Netflix.
